It would be cool if this somehow found a way into The Mandalorian. Maybe a long lost war Droid could be found by Mando in a state of hibernation or something. Would be neat. Mando needs a new starship and a droid companion for sure. I hope the next seasons lead to that. How he slowly gains a crew, and ship. Season 1 was about his armament and armor

I'd love to see him getting one via a reimagining of the old WEG scenario involving one with a less disappointing end. I believe it was named "Revenant" I believe the adventure was in one of the Star Wars: Adventures books from right around when the Tales of the Jedi sourcebook was released...stupid Imperial officer finds a Basilisk and rebuilds and rearm it to a "modern" standard. It a mandalorian historian infiltrates the SSD it was being rebuilt on...and the players get assigned by their superiors (assuming they're rebels) to find out what the hell the Imperials were doing. Things go rather predictably, and it ends with the droid active and tearing its way out through the ship as the players try to get the hell out of dodge ...the players escape and the droid either goes down to swarms of TIEs and other cap ships shooting at it or it escapes into hyperspace while the players escape the area. The basilisk coming online during that adventure is a definite "OH SHIT!" moment...especially with the timing of the adventure which was set right around the classic star wars comics involving Mandalore.

And given the way how competent her unit is, she has to train 16 hours per day, eats 120 seconds and sleeps the rest. She has the skill Set required to Master any weapon in around half the time you do. So she will be better than you.

Basilisks are a thing that is completely original to Star Wars, both in concept, and execution. I mean, who'd think of having elite troops literally ride on the backs, not in an enclosed cockpit, of robotic dragons, which, in turn, are stuffed full of heavy ordnance, and dropped onto planets from orbit. "Crazy Awesome" would be an understatement. I remember spamming these in the Mandalorian Mod for Empire at War. There, they *count* as ground troops, but can also easily be used in space, since, unlike other ground units, they deploy as-is, not in dropships, and operate like single-entity fighter or bomber units, spewing rockets and blaster bolts everywhere. It was always fun seeing them tear apart enemy capital ships or space stations like a swarm or angry hornets.

I could imagine some fanatic/insane members of galactic society trying to fuse themselves with the basilisk. Like Aksis, Archon Prime, who fused himself with a heavily modified Fallen Spider Tank.
They kinda cant after Revan and the republic won he made the Mandalorians destroy them and their creators are long gone so unless they spirted a few away they are gone.

Indeed the redesign of the basilisk is just...sad. It completely misses the point of these neo-crusaders who lived like techno-vikings killing and taking because they could with the Basilisk exemplifying this brutality. Now they're just another clunky fightercraft you'd see on any world, hell you don't even ride on top of them anymore. If the Mandalorian ever does bring one in I really hope they reconsider that decision and retcon them to the original since technically right now in the Disney canon neither model is canon so they really need to go with the badass one.

Since the events of the 'Tales of the Jedi' comic series have been somewhat recanonized thanks to the RP sourcebook 'Nexus of Power' published in 2016, I wonder if that includes these droids. And if writers will use anything from these storys. I mean, Solo did have a reference to Exar Kun...

I always loved Mandalorians and they're Basilisk War Droids. I would have loved to pilot one and not be the receiving end. If the Mandalorians still had these during the Civil War, it would have been more bloody. Also if they still had them during the days of the Galactic Empire, they would have been able to stay independent. That would have been an awesome What If. Space cavalry for the win. The ugnaught in season one who's name I can't recall off the top of my head mentioned the basilisks. I can see Mando running into one. I'd love to see one decimate Gideon's arquitens cruiser. I know feloni and the crew know the droids. I couldn't see them passing one up while they mentioned it in season one.
I believe he referenced the Mythosaur, not the Basilisk. Mythosaurs were these gargantuan monsters similar to a Krayt Dragon the Mandalorians hunted to extinction on Mandalore when they conquered the planet and their skull became the overall symbol of the Mandalorian faction. Clans have their own unique symbol also.
So ya know, they would hit you ling before the sonic boom. Sound travels at 761.2 mph at sea level, and creates a sonic boom due to the sound waves smashing into each other from the object moving faster than the sound can possibly travel. So from entry into atmosphere they would reach several times the speed of sound at the very least. Possibly reaching 15,000 mph, but far higher than 5000 mph. Point being if you hear the boom, the $hit hit the fan several seconds ago

Okay I really wanna see a live action battle from the mandalorian warrs with a ton of these. but even sooner, we could see on in the mandalorian. S3 is supposed to go even more into the mandalorian stuff and they've shown they know the extended universe, plus from a purely marketing perspective, throwing one of these in and having Din slowly bond with it would both be great for press and future toy sales. Just speculation, but I don't doubt the Mandalorians with their fleet at the time had massive space superiority over Basilisk, probably due to sheer numbers alone. Combine that with a surprise attack and I can see how they could be forced into a surrender.

I love the idea of Basilisk War Droids, but _hate_ the design of them. I know this would anger a lot of fans of the Expanded Universe, but I really hope they are redesigned to more like Walkers (or even ATTE's). A Vehicle/Mech that the Mando's pilot from within.

Okay I really wanna see a live action battle from the mandalorian warrs with a ton of these. but even sooner, we could see on in the mandalorian. S3 is supposed to go even more into the mandalorian stuff and they've shown they know the extended universe, plus from a purely marketing perspective, throwing one of these in and having Din slowly bond with it would both be great for press and future toy sales. Plus I really really reallllly wanna see him riding on one with Grogu
If the Basiliskin War Robots were so great, then how did the Mandalorians defeat them?
Just speculation, but I don't doubt the Mandalorians with their fleet at the time had massive space superiority over Basilisk, probably due to sheer numbers alone. Combine that with a surprise attack and I can see how they could be forced into a surrender.
Additionally, the ones spoken of are the Mandalorian models, not the originals. The Mandalorians added Beskar armor and more weapons.
Imagime in Mando season 3 they find one in some underground vault and just go crazy on the ipms.

I love the idea of Basilisk War Droids, but _hate_ the design of them. I know this would anger a lot of fans of the Expanded Universe, but I really hope they are redesigned to more like Walkers (or even ATTE's). A Vehicle/Mech that the Mando's pilot from within.
