      Eh, the E-11 blasters were top of the line though. I mean sure, compared to something like the A280 it doesn’t stand much of a chance penetration wise, but it was still a superior to most blasters used by the Empire’s enemies. It had an advanced cooling system, good range, and was tested and proven on the field to function in all environments, and even in the void in most cases. And while stormtroopers occasionally had some issues regarding the helmet and weapon calibration, that was really the only relative issue. Chances are anyone that claims that the E-11 is trash most likely sports a vintage or modified weapon, which tops the E-11 for obvious reasons.

      @@hunterkiller1440 it's largely consistent in terms of Stormtrooper quality. While some degree of decrease in proficiency was seen after the switch to volunteers was made from Clones, Stormtroopers remained the elite until the Post Endor period when the Empire fractured and many Warlords put barely trained conscripts or regular army troopers in Stormtrooper armor leading to ineffective troopers. The destruction of Carida by the Sun Crusher wiped out the last main official Stormtrooper academy and by the time of the Imperial Remnant the Stormtrooper corps was a shadow of its former self.
      Gear, armor and training were largely standard across the galaxy for the Corps, but some backwaters obviously were assigned the lower quality troopers, though even these were always held to be superior to the Army and Navy Troopers in the Empire.
      In DisCan it's already a jumbled mess because they are supposed to be both elite troops but also completely incompetent canon fodder with bad equipment at the same time and it varies from source to source. DisCan is far more of a contradictory mess than Legends and it managed to become such in a fraction of the time.

    I think that in the case of B2's with how the wrist blasters look in the movies (Over the stylization of comics, TCW, ect.) the energy pack is likely a case of being part of the built in battery system of the droid, eliminating the portion of a blaster that needs to be replaced most. The Tibana gas reserves, which for almost all blaster weapons, are the least likely thing for you to run dry on given that it was pressurized to a replicable liquid canister, tube, fixed internal container, whatever. The B2 could likely easily house reserves as large as some mounted (light) blaster emplacements, meaning that the likelihood of a B2 running out of munitions for it's primary wrist blasters during campaign/between maintenance cycles is actually quite low. This is just conjecture, but it's also what makes the most sense for a built in weapon on such a large and armored platform as the B2.

      The CIS would have likely won the Clone Wars in a matter of months, if not instantly. Despite being found out early and not yet ready on Geonosis - They had a massive naval supremacy advantage over the Republic, so basically space superiority, a massive numbers advantage, a chain of command that somewhat functioned (Gen.Grievous was quite not yet up to speed at the start due to getting used to his body, but the Seperatists had early on a lot of commanders that Sidious and Dooku got rid of due to feeling they were too competent, good, and dangerous to be kept alive) plus a general idea of what they wanted to do. Looking at everything, the Jedi and fledgling GAR would have been no match had the CIS really been focused on victory, instead of being a pawn in a bloody galactic theater production with one being running the whole charade.

They could easily have recruited a massive army capable of dealing with the low quality battle droids. Think of the billions of beings on Coruscant alone. People claiming the republic wouldve been overrun in a few months also tend to forget about the planetary defense forces. Even if the cis managed to conquer large parts of republican territory, the droids were terrible at fighting insurgencies. The cis offensive would quickly come to a still stand, giving the republic enough time to gathering its forces. Dont forget the jedi were excellent insurgency leaders, trainers and fighters.

    • @videocrowsnest5251
      @videocrowsnest5251 3 роки тому +11

      @@abraham2172 Indeed they were. The scenario made was if they weren't trying to sabotage the CIS, and letting it just do its thing. And while the Republic could easily have recruited or conscripted many beings, training them takes time, and the Venator did not enter service until a bit into the war. Usually also only wealthy planets tended to have access to, well-equipped defense forces, and some of those defected to the CIS as well when the Clone Wars got underway. The Republic was also consistently outnumbered in the naval space game throughout the entire Clone Wars to the point they avoided space battles at all costs. You also need to consider what the CIS wanted: To have the Republic recognize them as an official state, and thus letting them be their own Confederacy. The idea thus was not domination and conquest, but being able to secede, though admirably what the CIS as represented by the parliament wanted and what the Separatist Council of tycoons wanted were two different things with the latter having the power to do as they willed, and for them, it was a money/power grab.

The data they collected showed no T-34 lasted more than 6-7 months in the field, so they made sure all their parts could last at least that long. Since blasters need gas to fire (and power) this would mean that inbuild blasters in b2's had a gas tank in the arm - all you would need is just an outer gas port to refill it - without the need of disasembling the arm - that would be needed for maintnance though - in this case i would think they would just dismantle the arm and replace it with another one ready for use - that would make more sense. Tha gas port idea would be the best because it would allow them to use portable gas tanks - and that would also explain why there were a lot of tibana canisters around separatist stongpoints. All the droid would have to do is plug in - refuell and off it goes.

    • @AtomicArtumas

      Alternatively, there's no real reason the built-in blasters couldn't just have a normal reload drum type of ammo canister just built into the arm that can be pulled out and replaced - Under a removable armor plating or something.
      Most likely it would've been in the main body section though - Much more room there, with almost no necessary mechanical parts since it doesn't bend or move. Probably something like a removable back panel that has a replaceable battery and gas can. - Considering lone B2s were basically unheard of, it wouldn't be that odd for them to have to reload each other's weapons.

    if i remember my Star wars RPG lore correctly the avrage B1 costs around 1,800 Credits to produce and the E-5 is around 900 credits a blaster, so for the cost of 2,700 Credits you can buy a single DC-15A blaster rifle and have 500 credits left over (for maybe lunch), this to me sounds like the clones got the Raw end of the deal. Every clone needs to get at least 1 kill to break even meanwhile a single kill from a E-5 makes it's money back and then some. Honestly saying the E-5 is a bad gun misses the point it was the right Blaster for the Right type of solider, to take a quote from Warhammer 40K, "you may laugh at the Lasgun, it may not pierce our armour by itself, but the Fool who laughs at the gun itself, has never charged a hundred of them fired together in a true volley of death"

    my guess regarding the B2 is that they didn't really need to reload. we know they sometimes explode. and we know their torso is pretty darn bulky. maybe they just had a stupidly large clip size to where reload didn't really become a necesity except in month long campaigns? or they had multiple Magazines installed in their arms that then cycled if one runs out. plenty of ways to resolve an ammo shortage like that. sure they would still need partial disassembly for reload but this could be done in between combat where their potential ammo storage could be refilled.

    The thought just occured to me that there would be a TON of weapons left over from a conflict involving droids, bases would be loaded with spares since it would be easier and cheaper to just have the droid replace the weapon rather than try to fix it. In addition to the weapons being left on the battlefield for the same reason of it probably being better to just buy new ones rather than try to recover the old ones.
    What this woul dmean is that the after market from the war would be flooded with these weapons, the Clone armoury would have a similar issue of stockpiles of old weapons but these would be more due to the rollouts of new weapons rather than the reason I described for the droids since clone have been shown to take pride in their weapons and even clean them themelves.

      I strongly disagree. IRL sniper tactics dictate heavy protection of sniper positions. IE a position will be defended by a squad minimum. Additionally, most sniper positions are within friendly lines. Adding machine gun capabilities to a sniper reduces its effectiveness in its original intended role, while providing negligible benefit. If a sniper ends up heading a PDF, it’s much more efficient for them to use a separate weapon that is tailor made to the situation.

      now a droid sniper, being super expenadable, can use the more effective but more risky ww2 era tactics where a weapon capable of being both a sniper rifle and an SMG would be super useful. remember star wars blasters don't need different ammunition or barrles for different strength shots/etc. meaning the nessesity for purpose built weapons is decreased and multi-role weapons become more attractive.

    E5s sniper rifle.
    My opinion is that the E5s was designed as a dual purpose platform- sniper rifle and squad automatic weapon. I know, the two are almost mutually exclusive, but we're talking blasters here, and stranger things have been done in RL. As you noted, it doesn't have the cooling problems of the E5, it may have longer range than the E5, and it's more efficient to have one thing do two jobs, especially if the difference is in a simple position switch, some software and external accessories (no scope system if issued as a SAW)

  • @Gustav_Kuriga
    @Gustav_Kuriga 3 роки тому

    I'd point out that the rapid fire mode for the sniper isn't meant for long range engagements, but rather if the sniper's location is under direct attack from close range. At closer ranges, the precision of the sniper mode isn't needed. Further, the small capacity of the sniper rifle is only an issue if it were a designated marksman weapon like a Dragunov (meant for squad integrated support), rather than as a specialized sniper weapon at extreme ranges for use in a role more meant for eliminating important battlefield commanders, which is what I believe it was meant for. In this case having a large capacity isn't all that useful, as if you miss the target then having additional shot capacity won't mean much as the target will just take cover and attempt to get away while calling down supporting fire on the sniper position. Most modern day bolt-action sniper rifles have 5-round magazines.

    I think the fully automatic machine gun feature was for when enemies get close to them and they didn't have to worry about missing. I'm not sure who here has ever played Star wars battlefront 2. The new one not the original. Now it's actually a little bit better than how it was when it first started. But that's besides the points I'm trying to make.
    I've had plenty of moments in the most player where I was running specialist and just sniping people out. Then I would get flint and sometimes the machine gun blaster special that I have equipped may not be ready because I might have already used it. Had I've been able to just switch to a rapid fire mode when I got Flint then that would have been way better than that special. Because special ability cooldowns can be longer than weapon cooldowns. And I wouldn't be surprised if all you had to do to bypass that was just switch modes again. Plus, just switching to the secondary blaster would give the enemy enough time to kill you whereas if you just switched to a rapid mode on already have in front of you then you don't have to worry about missing or pulling out that secondary real quick. Just flip the switch and shoot.
    This did not happen in the game. We just had the secondary blaster. But apparently it happened in Canon within the Star wars universe. It makes sense to me. The enemy flanks you and tries to take you out and then you got to worry about hitting them with a single shot sniper or pulling out a secondary in time. But instead of doing that, you just flip from single to rapid fire and unload.

  • @gidi3250
    @gidi3250 2 роки тому +1

    Personally I think the wrist lasers are powerd by the droids core that also powers it's body and when it would reload it holds up it's arm to help with cooling the barrels since even in the real world if you put enough stuff down range fast enough the barrel will turn red hot and either start burning or bending or both. As for the rockets yea sounds like a once of deal for once it's out of ammo the droid needs to find ammo itself or someone or something needs to reload the droids rocket ammo. And another reason why some droids might stop shooting while other droids would be out of ammo can be chalked up to the droid using up most of it's energy and can't or doesn't want to use up it's last bit of power that's still powering the droid as we know the droids can melee attack so it might resort to a charge closer to the front line to try to hit someone but since charging the enemie frontline would most likely end it's life but a clone shot or a Jedi lightsaber.

    I can see one reason why the droid sniper rifle was given a rapid fire mode.
    If a team of enemy soldiers like clones were able to outflank a droid sniper and reach their position, then the sniper could just go ballistic and do the old spray and pray tactic.
    And since its a B1, its not like the sniper would surrender anyway.
    Better to take out a few of the attackers and/or take them by surprise with the rapid fire feature, rather than reaching for a blaster pistol you have laying around for a close range shot.

    I believe everything here about how unsafe E5s were for organics to use, since they overheated very easily. But then, that opens a plot-hole for why Padme (an organic human) used one without issue in The Season 1 episode of The Clone Wars where she gets captured on Rodia, and is saved by Jar Jar Binks. After all, she DID take a blaster from a droid as she tried to escape, and she DID actually use it in that episode against them, but how could she have safely used it when those blasters were so dangerous to use in organic hands? It doesn't make a lot of sense.
