I am writing this BEFORE watching the video coz I know it will rock. It has always rocked,it rocks right now, and it will keep on rocking forever! There is not ONE lesson you do that I dont like dear great schwartz! Keep doing what you're doing Marty and thanks for everything as always!
Every time I watch a lesson, I think "whoa, if I could just do THAT...I'd sound so cool!" Then you do something else just as cool the next time! You are an amazing resource Marty. Thanks so much for the lessons. I have a bunch of your DVDs but I always visit the site too.
Thanks Marty. Love the swinging feel you bring to these blues lessons. So often boogie lessons are taught with a 70s 'Rock/Blues' feel. You make it sound like 1950s R n B, Big Joe Turner or B.B. King. I'd love to see you teach a lesson on pre- Rock and Roll songs like Wine Spodee-o-dee by Sticks McGee, or maybe Western Swing, like Pistol Packin Mama by Al Dexter.
Trying to learn some blues, as a guitarist from other genres (metal) I found this very helpful. All the variations he did was using notes from the blues scale, so not only did I learn some cool rhythms but the knowledge to make my own. thanks
Marty- you are DA MAN! Now then, what is a cheap pedal for us to grab to do the looping trick for self accompaniment? I tend to learn much faster playing with someone, but guys aren't always available when I have time and desire to groove.
patrick its a boss looper rc 32 or somthin like that but a looper of any kind will allow you to tap it' play throught ur rhythm and tap it agin when u come back arond to ur root chord it will then play over and over that until u stop it' hope that helps my musical friend.
hey Marty let me 1st say that your THE MAN thanks for everything brother.... so listen i have a request( may be unusual/or not) id like to learn how to play Usher's "you got it bad" guitar solo in there really bad but can't find any good tutorials out there. I understand your a very busy dude but if sometime in your future u have the chance i would greatly appreciate...and if not your still THE FREAKIN MAN.
I haven't had a way to record lately.. but there's definitely been a massive amount of progress and I'm getting better all the time. I wish I could afford a few of the video lesson's your site has to offer.. but hey some of us are truly starving musicians. Love your work bro, God bless you man.
one of the most helpfull lessons, was busy for hours to master the skills needed for only the first 3 minutes of this vid... great one, much ideas, room to play around with ritme etc , thanks :)
Hi marty, you probably won't see this, but i thought I'd ask anyways... I know you like to give the people what they want, so you don't always get to teach your favorite songs. But as one dead head to another... Franklin's Tower? the chords are pretty easy, but I'm struggling bending my ear around the strumming and licks. It'd be a nice beginner lesson! any hoo, keep up the good work dude.
Yet another great lesson, you give such a great sound and really simple but so effective tips iffs that would improve anyone's playing. Thanks Marty!!!
Always great Marty! I've been now playing and watching your videos for 10 years now!! And also, it took me 10 years to get and discover my favorite guitar, which is my baby, a Fender American Special Telecaster w/ Texas Specials (Maple neck, Black/Ebony body, and just a single 1-ply black pickguard but man do I find it just so fancy)! It's still the best guitar for me that I've ever owned or played (not to sound bias, though the American Professional Elites are pretty wild too!). But thank you for influencing hundreds, if not thousands of new and aspiring musicians, I very much appriciate all of the content you've put out over and throughout the years, and keep it all up my sir! We're all behind you and keep rocking!✌🎸😸
I have an acoustic student guitar that I want to learn how to play. Can you give the basic lessons from the start of what is the parts of the guitar, the notes, etc. Thank you
its all about how u angle ur wrist look how marty angles his wrist so that his finger can only hit g and allow the e and b to ring out. with every cord, lick or what not theirs a best way to angle your wrist and hand to get most power and precision.
Hi :) I've been taking tutorials from you for a long time and you really help me. The songs you teach are always so fun to play. Could you please do a tutorial on how to play the kooks junk of the heart? I would really apreciate that. But I understand that you are busy so it's ok if you don't make it.
Great lesson Marty! Hey I noticed your guitar was looking pretty clean and well maintained. Who does the setups and whatnot on your guitars, and what do they do? I want my guitars to look all prim and buttery again!
could you please, please, please do a video on the song telescope from the new tv seried nashville! it would be really helpful as there are no other videos on how to play it :)
So i'm naming my first born Marty!!!Great great lesson, thanks you so much!I can't seem to get the knack of the timing for doing seemless loops on my looper !!do you have a video on how to make a clean loop? thanks again!
Hey Marty.. What stomp boxes are you stepping on to get to play with yourself and have that tone.. Please help.. I'm tired of spending good money on junk.I have at least 4 boxes that anyone who gets me where I need to be can have for free.......
Hey, Marty. Is there a difference between the major pentatonic scale and the major scale? The reason I ask is because I noticed that the major and minor pentatonic scales both have the same shape just on different frets. I have found a bunch of videos on youtube on the major scale that shows completely different shapes. I am a beginner and I am CONFUSED. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Hey Marty, I've been playing for three years but I have such a hard time picking. I never know which strings to strum when doing rhythm, or even when doing solos, I always mess up the strings. Do you have any tips for getting better at it?
Johnny Tightlips- yes, they are different. They way Marty has shown you is the easiest way to play the different scales. There are different ways and shapes but the notes are the same.
Boss Loopstation (I believe that's what Marty uses in fact). There are a few different models to pick from at various prices, but I think they start around 200. I also think they should send Marty about 100 free pedals or a fat check since he's caused so many people to go buy them :)
i think all he's doing is encouraging your own style, if he teaches you everything, there's not that much feeling of inner achievement if you get what i mean

That trill at 7:19 is tasty.

Johnny Tightlips- yes, they are different. They way Marty has shown you is the easiest way to play the different scales. There are different ways and shapes but the notes are the same.
