Thanks to everyone else who helped
joke writing workshop was worth the cash, so yeah
I'm not even pursuing a voice acting career but I'm still watching these vids because they're interesting and the editing is sick. Nice work, man.
Hah same. I'm kind of glad I never had any interest it now too because I can just imagine the kids that are either fresh out of high school or about to graduate high school that had no other plans for their future except to do voice work with their $100 mic they got for Christmas. Yeah, if I were in that position, I'd feel pretty sad.
I love showing these tutorials to people because these have legit helped me from being a blue scrub to where I am now on youtube. Thank you soulbrotha. 😄
woah hey I played and overwatch game with you once
You Tube is okay , but not The Voice over business. REAL EXPERIENCE IN THE REAL WORLD IS NEEDED FOR THAT. IF ITS FUN
I guess that's okay but it's my life!
I will say this. You got the best sounding videos on UA-cam. I mean loud clear robust. I can listen without earphones while my truck is running.
THAT'S THAT HIGH END, JIMMY
7:25 the fact that he has the Blue Yeti completely facing the wrong way just made it all the more hilarious. If I had a dollar for every time I saw someone use a Blue Yeti incorrectly...I'd have enough money to finally upgrade my mic so I myself wouldn't have to use a Blue Yeti...
I love these videos for all the helpful tips like the whole angled placement to avoid P's and T's. I'm slowly saving up for a nice starter XLR setup for now.
They're probably using the omnidirectional or bi-directional setting on it...
Which kind of makes it worse for background noise
9/10, not enough fast food references.
Hey man, thanks for the tutorials. As a current Theatre/Acting Major looking where the fuck I go post-degree, this stuff has been top-notch. Thanks for being stern and down-to-earth. Too many VA's are sugarcoating and go "It was just luck, someone liked my voice and-" yadda yadda.
The explanations given and the pacing of the video are absolutely on point. Bravo.
...I'm still a pleb with the usb-mic. No real plans on being a voice actor.
However, I'm ever so slightly proud of myself because I figured out that offset angling the mic was better than straight on with the pop filter. Now I know "why."
Thank you, these vids are wonderful.
Your series has been a big help to a lot of Online Voice Actors, cool to see you're actually still continuing it!
As a dude who works A/V for a university and is looking to move into working in the upper parts of the A/V field IE sound tech for studios or concert halls, you dishing out some great knowledge. #watchmoresoulbrovids
Man, I don't have the urge to be a VA but I love watching your vids on the process my dude. You elevating me to that next level, no more big kids meals for me.
What a timeless series of videos. I keep referencing it whenever I have a voice actor that gives me lines with plosives or over relying on their pop filter. I thought everyone watched these videos so I wouldn't have to explain it.
Finally, someone who knows what they're talking about
Here from hbomberguy. Very interresting stuff! We are currently making our "home studio" in my band, and your videos helped us make some decisions! I can't wait to finally play in it!
I've watched this video series multiple times over and I learn something new upon every viewing. I'm striving to become a voice actor in the near future and this is one of the best sources I've seen on what it takes to be one. Excellent work!
i fucking love your videos man
I'm sad that this series is over, but there's nothing left to teach...
there's plenty left to teach and he'll show you if you slip him $80
Just a little Soulbrothanumbah3 to round out my day. Good stuff, man. I hope this service of yours takes off in a big way.
Annnnd now I have to upgrade my interface.
THANK YOU so much for this video and in fact all the videos you've done on voice acting. they have been an invaluable resource to me in learning how to improve myself as an aspiring voice actor.
“Get out the dark and learn the art” I like that
just put 10 soundgoodizers on the master
my son is in a walmart somewhere I don't know which one but I left him there on accident he's somewhere
Bitch please, you need analog outboard soundgoodizers on all of your output matrices for your analog summing to really sound professional
My favorite educational series returns! Best channel is this channel
I have enjoyed this series of videos as well. Thanks Senpai!!
Soulbro will teach you funnies at 80 jokes per minute.
i have no intention of becoming a va or doing anything that involves using good audio but this series was really neat
I have no interest in being a voice actor what so ever, but damn do you make it easy to watch these videos and learn about it.
In the six years I've been active. I learned more from this vid than any of my colleagues.
How much I gotta pay you to watch anime and do an honest review of it?
grand
I don't want to be an online voice actor I just like listening to you talk about shit lmao
that selfish instrumental in the background tho! 😎
I fall asleep to your videos. In the good way.
another great soulbrotha vid, it compels to watch more soulbrotha vids
If only every podcaster would watch this video.
I don't even want to be a voice actor but these are so entertaining to watch lol
I know you say not to buy a pop filter and I understand why. A pop filter almost invites people to not learn proper mic etiquette. However as a hobbyist, I would get one so I would know where to position myself like you said in your previous videos. I like to get close to the mic but that amplifies the proximity effect. If I use a pop filter, I can set it at a distance so I'm near the filter but at a healthy distance from my mic. I also could use it as a guide to keep Ps from popping. I could slightly angle the mic but keep the filter straight so the air from the Ps don't blast into the mic. I also remember you saying that hobbyists should leave but I watch these because these videos are a great starting place when getting into audio.
I can't tell if he's serious about the $80 teaching sessions or not..I'm kinda interested.
cop
soulbrothanumbuh3 Looks like he could use that Joke Writing sess.
I don't even record anything, but it was still nice to watch the video. I hope post more often.
Soulbro spittin game.
I appreciate this series of videos you've put together. I guess it's off to get an audio interface and XLR mic, but my Audio Technica USB mic hasn't done me too bad.
sold.
The worst part about recently getting into voice acting was discovering I had a junk microphone
sound mixing course was worth it get that shit
3:17 oof yeah that what I been doing but yeah this video will definitely help me try to improve more thank you 😊
Thank you for all the free shit.
Very informative!
love this vids man, keep them up
Your voice sounds slightly higher than the last four and this lack of consistency leaves me feeling rustled.
Nowadays it seems like in this industry of voice actors, people are more likely to hire meme voice actors, such as the Game Grumps for a shitty VN game, or just in general people don't take their work seriously. I'm glad there are guides like this that are very "by the books" so I can take the profession more seriously than I already do.
Great job as always.
hmm, my first mic was an at2035, my next upgrade when i got serious was an at4047. HAH an the presonus audiobox was my first interface but damn, you can really pick up the noise from that paper weight. ive moved to the studio 192 since
Why am I here at 5 in the morning? I don’t even own a microphone.
now you know which one to buy though
That helped tremendously.
I feel personally attacked. 2:36
hope there are still more of these to come :(
I don’t even like voice acting I just love soul bro
You mention setting interface gain to 0 and letting your dedicated preamp do the work, but I noticed your Tascam has a lowest setting of 22db. Does this negatively affect your sound at all, or is its gain clean enough to not add noise? Considering the UH 7000 for myself and was curious about your experience.
I never noticed anything wrong
Loving your videos man, but do you have advise for someone who has articulation problems when speaking?
Google it
thank god for talking about recording in an empty closet. number 1 pet peeve when listening to wannabe VA's
I saw a popfilter comparison video by Booth Junkie and according to him he says that doing the pointing the mic towards your mouth, but not pointing your mouth towards the microphone thing has a tendency to change the EQ.
Depends on the polar pattern of the mic but it's only changing the EQ significantly if you're looking too far away. You only need to BARELY turn.
You forgot to put this in the playlist.
Very educational.
would you say that if i cannot have an appropiate acoustic room, then it´d be better to get a dynamic mic like the sm7b?
I am a talented voice actor (I marathon Naruto) so joke writing workshops are what I need
Sweet graphics 6:45 -Subscribed
Like Pop Filters, are Shock Mounts also pretty useless and often used because they "look professional"? Or are they actually necessary?
You'll find you need one way less than advertised..
Great info. What were the shots you put in at certain points shot on
RED One MX
2nd song was slum village ft. john legend and kaye west- selfish
Wait.. I use the box thing when recording. I don't know what else to do! What can I do to make it better?
va-nutshell.com/how-to-be-a-voice-actor-part-2-the-perfect-diy-recording-booth/
Man after watching all 5 videos and seeing the price point holy hell my old ambition is gunna be hard to do...
I was lost with the room segment. Can someone tell me what's actually needed for my room and the mic? Forgive me for I am barnacle scum
Every room might be different. My workshops include 1on1 room treatment guides
joke writing? how do you study that? where? is there a school?
is the tascam uh-7000 worth it without dedicated pre? I'm choosing between this and audient iD22. before I saw taskam in your video I was set on id22 but now I'm uncertain again. what is your experience with uh-7k so far?
Late reply I know, but hopefully this still helps. I can’t speak for the UH-7000 personally, but the nice thing about the iD22 should you want to pair it with an external preamp is that you can completely bypass the built in pres (which are already solid on their own for the record) and just use it as a A/D converter. So the iD22 is very much worth it imo.
so this might be a dumb question I'll ask it anyway why do I need a analog preamp when I can use a digital preamp which is free okay I said it I know it was dumb but I need to justify a 400$+ purchase
Thanks Man =)
how do i get my first job 😢
I love you and your videos
*has My Little Pony toys surrounding a blue yeti all inside a foam lined box* ...Fine, I’ll change my setup but the toys stay.
fuck yeah mate
god bless the Brothanumbuh3
What kind of pics are best for someone with a deep voice
nic cage Naked ones.
God himself has returned
All advice aside... that Flamingosis track :)
So, I've been voice acting for a few months, but have very low grade equipment, I found a hack for my microphone that has made it sound like a 300 dollar microphone. (my microphone was 30 bucks)
Did you get a U87?
Nice! :)
What video is at 6:30?
#SoBroGang We outchea
sound engineers watching this guy saying pop filters are not important be like... ?????????????????????????????????????????
They actually be like "yeah technically he's right"
So how do I purchase the workshops?
check my twitter, IG, or email linked to the YT channel
You don't need to completely off axis your microphone to not get plosions, in fact if you look at that example where you center it off axis, you actually see that your voice clip gets thinner when you do. I'm not saying that it's not a viable technique because shit, its the internet, lets be real.
but if you want consistent voices, just literally stand a few inches away from the mic, and gain properly.
The majority of voice clips get the bottom 100hz cut out in most professional mixes anyway. No one will listen to it off axis and think "man that's really thin" without a direct contrast. That clip was free of EQ processing.
so did you take a class in digital audio because I have no clue what the fuck you're saying half of this video and I thought it was meant for beginners
shoulda watched till the end
my bad
Shot on kodak black, HAH
No one ever believes me about the pop filter :(
I like you.
I don't have enough to feed myself, let alone a joke workshop. Do you at all use children as currency
Where does one normally and safely find online voice over work?
AKA How to not sound like XXXTentacion
