The glovebox for the new Soul looks to actually be smaller than my 2015 Soul. It seems that i can fit a whole baby in the glovebox. I love the how spacious my glovebox is.
Appreciate the review on the 2021 Kia Soul EX. I now have this model but in gravity gray, almost went with this green color same gun metal looking wheels though. This is the trim level I wanted it hits the sweet spot having everything the lower trims have plus some of the Turbo model luxury features. The amenities abound especially all of the safety features I wanted. I’m ok with the 2.0L the 1.6 turbo would have been a big plus but coming from a base 2016 1.6L manual I’m good! I hate that for 2021 the EX doesn’t come with the LED headlight set up, the directional signal on the side view mirrors or the expansive full panoramic roof. I do love the huge 10.25 screen it is massive, colorful and intuitive. The power seats are welcome as well as the automatic climate control, cruise control (less the distance adjustment) . The wireless phone charger is a life saver along with the built in navigation system, UVO which is loaded onto my iPhone allows me to monitor my vehicle, lock unlock and start my Soul from the comfort of my home and set the temperature. Heated seats in Florida not as necessary as cooled seats would be. I welcome the normal & sport modes in which I can definitely tell the difference when driving. Start & stop saves on gas but can be annoying at times but you can turn that features off thank God. The IVT transmission is better than I thought it would be and shifts intelligently and helps on MPG. and Android CarPlay are standard throughout. The sound system is ok but could be a little better less the Harmon Cordon in the turbo. Heated side view mirrors are a plus and the auto headlights and auto hi beams are great. Finally an upscale fob for keyless entry and auto start, “Stinger inspired “.The leather wrapped steering wheel, shifter and boot are really nice touches as well as the additional USB port located in the back for passengers. The ingenious cargo floor implementation is wonderful! All in all I love my Kia Soul EX its fun to drive, with the ECO dynamics this vehicle is rated at 29 city 35 Hiway and a warranty that’s out of this world.....I have become a “Soul Man”!
Nice Review, Ive had a Kia Soul Exclaim since 2015 and has been a great car, not one problem. I had looked into getting the new design Soul, however, found out that Cooled seats are not available and the one feature I use daily in Texas in the summer. The dealer told me that cooled seats are available in Canada tho, now thats funny...
It often amazes me when a handful of engineers, executives and bean counters get together and decide what is going to be included with what package level. As it stands for 2021, the LX is the base model and comes standard with buyers remorse. The S bumps it up a notch. The GT and X give a choice of looking sporty or pretending that KIA finally put AWD in the Soul. The EX is definitely for Extra, as in extra stuff. And last but not least, the Turbo. My first taste of driving a Soul was when I traded in a base model Rio for a 2016 Soul +. I wasn't having that 1.6L Rio engine in my Soul, so I went with the + for the 164 HP 2.0L. Yes, that's right 164 HP. KIA no longer puts a 1.6L in a Soul except for the Turbo and that gives it 201 HP. The third generation Soul has been greatly improved. The 2.0L has been redesigned and even though it only puts out 147 HP, it has more pep. Part of that pep is the redesigned transmission. No longer does the Soul do that yo-yo thing when coasting down hill. The Sport Mode is also better and really comes in handy on my morning commute. Next time someone says that the Soul is under powered, let them drive a 2021 in Sport Mode. Pros and cons. The pros definitely win with the third generation Soul. I really wanted an AWD Soul, but not like the KIA Soul AWD concept car. The world doesn't really need more batteries to recycle. A 2.0L or 1.6T will do. I couldn't justify the extra cost of the Turbo. More power can be cool but it adds to the cost of the vehicle and increases insurance premiums. So, living in Wisconsin can really suck in the Winter. Not as much snow as upstate NY but colder. I decided to go with an Undercover Green 2021 EX, just like the one in the video. The EX has most of the bells and whistles that the Turbo has. Pros. Longer wheel base, smoother ride. More comfortable seats, especially the driver's seat. Larger display, cool. Sunroof, awesome. Drop down floor for more room in the trunk. A donut instead of a can of Fix a Flat. All kinds of safety stuff, love the blind spot detection. Now, here's where I wonder about those engineers. Wouldn't it be great if KIA had a cold weather package that could be available on any level trim? Did you know that in Sweden it is mandatory that all cars have heated seats? Okay, we're not in Sweden. The deal breaker for me was the heated seats... and the Undercover Green. However, why I earth would you have heated seats and heated mirrors, and not include a heated steering wheel? I'm guessing that the bean counter was having a bad day. Yesterday morning it was -11° F. My mirrors were clear and my butt was warm but, the steering wheel was like ice. Maybe I should get some white gloves like the ones worn by Korean taxi drivers. Anyway, great video. And, if you have any questions about the Undercover Green EX, feel free to ask.
I just bought the 2021 Kia Soul... base model. I must admit, base model in this vehicle is the nicest I’ve ever seen in a base model car period!! Mine has some leather, seats are very comfortable, and its a peppy lil car. I’m now a die hard Kia Soul fan!
You guys just a hair under 150k subs - I remember when you crossed 100k & got your plaque - suitable for hanging! Your reviews are always great - this Soul not for me, but I know it’s popular - see a lot of them around. Keep going! 👍
Just in 1/2024 bought a 2021 EX w/ 9k miles on it for $17.5k, certified by KIA. Best ride for the money I could find. Like it better than the Seltos for the $. Don't need AWD, cuz have a beater w/ plow on it for winter. AWD is over-rated anyway - they wind up on the ditches in the big storms too! Get the EX over the LX if you can afford. Electric seat, lumbar, heated. Remote start great here in the north - works from the house. Heated side mirrors nice too. Also nice is hood is hydraulic. Stereo quite good! The large screen on the EX is awesome, with Android Auto, Bluetooth, built in Nav, Sirius - so well done. Love the grey 17" alloy wheels. Prefer the traditional gauges on the '21 over the cheesy digital display on newer models. I just hauled a big dresser in this thing - no prob! Rear cabin light is handy. Liftgate always unlocked if you have fob with you - also handy. This little utility vehicle corners amazingly - fun to drive, and has plenty of get up and go. Rides pretty quiet on a smooth road. Seats 4 adults very comfortably, and had rear USB and console with cup holders. Push a button on the rear view mirror and you'll find yourself speaking with KIA Roadside Assistance - amazing! (I guess the must be some sort of phone built-in to the vehicle to make that possible?!) On a rough road, you'll feel it - the suspension is somewhat stiff. You'll feel those humps in the roads. Other thing I don't like is the auto engine shut down at idling - always turn it off as soon as I start the car....
I like try last gen Kia Soul. That generation you could get features that are unheard of for the class: ventilated seats, heated rear seats, panoramic roof
I’m missing an episode of Top Gear for this....and don’t regret it at all! Honestly, Soul isn’t for me. I think Honda should bring back the Element...Yuri agrees with me surley
The original Soul was marketed towards the younger generation but I used to see a lot of seniors driving then. One day back in 2016 my back was killing me so, after work I stopped in at the Kia dealership and traded my 2013 Rio in for a Soul. Now I understand why the seniors drive them...I guess this means I'm getting old.
Very cool. Not only is this an honest review of the 2021 Kia Soul EX, it's the same Undercover Green as mine. Kia and I go back to the 80's. The first Kia I road in was a 1986 Kia Pongo minivan, in Seoul, Korea. The first Kia I owned was a 2005 Optima LX that I bought used in 2009 with 112,000 miles on it. At 187,000 miles, in 2013, I traded in the Optima for a 2013 Rio. Getting in and out of the Rio was killing my back so, in 2016 I traded in again for a 2016 Soul +. Two weeks ago I traded in the 2016 Soul + with 56,000 miles on it for a 2021 Soul EX. Why the EX? Well several reasons. I was hoping that the Soul would be available in AWD. I considered the Seltos but I'm not a big fan of first generation vehicles. Besides, it looks like someone stuck a tablet on the dash for the control display. I considered a Jeep Renegade but it was way overpriced and the design and build quality aren't there. Then I asked myself, do I really need AWD? No. The 2016 was fine in snow providing that you have a good set of tires. The 2021 has an improved breaking and traction control system. When I lived in upstate NY neer the Adirondack mountains the AWD would have been nice. However, I've been living in Wisconsin for 10 years and in comparison to upstate NY, Wisconsin gets about a third of the snow. So why spend an additional $5k for something I don't really need? Upstate NY may get more snow but Wisconsin has NY beat when it comes to the cold. It can be 15-10° colder so the EX was a great choice because of the heated seats. However, the EX does not include a heated steering wheel, that would be too logical. Fog lights are also standard on the EX and are an improvement over the fog lights on the 2016 Soul +. The 2021 Soul is also about 2.5 inches longer. Going from the tiny display on the 2016 to the 10 inch on the 2021 was a big improvement and integrated much better than the Seltos. The sound system on the 2021 is way better than the 2016. As for mood lights, I could care less. The electric driver's seat is great and really improves the driving experience. The cordless charger idea was almost ingenious unless you have a passenger that also needs to charge her phone. Maybe next time Kia will consider my girlfriend's obsession with hogging the charger. The EX is almost fully loaded and if you want to spend an additional $5k you can get the turbo, a heads up display and mood lights. However, a turbo usually ups your insurance premiums. There are also a few other bells and whistles that the EX has that are pretty cool. The blind spot warning and backup warning is very cool. Plus, the backup camera on the 2021 doesn't get covered with water as easy because of the redesigned rear end. The lane assist feature, annoying. The engine stop/start feature is almost seamless. The transmission is more responsive on the 2021. My 2021 EX has cruise control but not "smart cruise control" and I really don't care. My EX also doesn't have the front end collision avoidance and that's no big deal because I'm not distracted by mood lights. Overall, the 2021 Soul EX is wonderful, refined, efficient and fun to drive. The Sport mode is way better than the Sport mode of the 2016. My only complaint so far in that I have a blank button where there should be a button for a heated steering wheel. As for the price, well... $23-24k sounds nice but not realistic. Once you add in undercoating, finish sealant, tax, title, license, financing and a set of all weather floor mats, expect to cough up $30k. I also through in a maintenance package at new vehicle replacement insurance. As they say, pay at the bank or pay at the garage. Was it worth it, yes. Also, if you are financing, try to get bi-weekly payments and you will save a bundle over the life of the loan.
10k on my 2020 LX 6 spd mt so far, and its a pretty fun and spacious family hatchback. Most comfortable vehicle I ever owned Edit: this car proves the fact that its more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow
i own a 2017 two-toned soul & i personally feel that the older models are better. i get that these newer ones have more technology but the front looks awful with the big grill & my glovebox is definitely way bigger & my trunk is aswell along with separate compartments. wish kia built the newer ones better. but nice review!!
Would you please provide information on exterior color offerings on the 2021? I see the green color has changed. I think the color of the soul in your video is a bit darker than last model years green color. Any info on exterior color offerings would be greatly appreciated
I've been leasing a 2017 Kia Soul in the bright green & I love it. Looking to buy a Soul next month. What are the other colors, besides the one you're reviewing here?
I wanted a brand new KIA Soul which would've been my first brand new car ever. Unfortunately KIA discontinued the 6 speed in 2022 so I opted for one from '21. I really wanted the brown color I've seen them in as it almost matches my Alfa GTV6 but it also wasn't available in 2022. I also didn't find any '21 models with a six speed in that color (or this green which I also really like). Normally I have an aversion to white but there was a pearl white '21 at a dealership in my town and it actually looks really nice. So that's what I opted for on Carvana. So I have an almost new Soul coming with almost 11,000 miles on it. Not my first (or second) choice in color but at least it looks like a Stormtrooper helmet which is kinda cool! It's an LX with steelies, but I'll probably put snow tires on those and buy a set of alloys from the dealership like the ones on this Soul. It'll be a big change from what I normally buy as daily drivers which would be pushing 15 years old. (With the exception of my Alfa 164 which is now 31 years old! It was my oldest daily driver until the deer hit.)
Bought a 2016 Soul + and it was $30k. 4 years and 50,000 miles later they tell me it's worth $11k on a trade in. It was a step up from the 2013 Rio I had. But, for the price, it should have AWD. As for performance, the 2.0L is nicer than the 1.6L but still not as punchy as I would like. A 2.0L Turbo would be nice. As for quality, 50,0000 miles and flawless. If only Kia mad a Jeep.
Wow, great review! You talked about things im interested in. Are you guys twins? Your voices sound identical. BTW, the 2021 EX also offers a light tan interior. I drove one last weekend. Nice job. I subscribed!
Great review! Was wondering if you got your Tesla fixed and also if you got the latest 2020.24.6 update that has the side repeater cameras on screen when your backing up? I haven’t got it yet and seems like everyone else has had it for weeks.
I have the 2017 soul and this new car just doesn’t do it for me. My car has a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, my speaker lights up. My back seats are heated, both my front seats are powered adjusting. This new model took the whole reason I chose my car away😭🙄 now you can’t even add those packages. It’s a little disappointing
I have a 2020 KIA soul gt line my only disappointments with it is the sound system in the standard gt line (non turbo model) isn’t that great, and the other disappointment is the lack of storage. I only have door pockets on all 4 doors, the arm rest, and glove compartment. disappointed with not having any storage on the back of the front seats like in other models.
They took it away, but add the sun roof. The EX Designer trim is gone. Same to the GT-Line 2 tone colors. All the optional features with a sport tuned suspension for the GT-Line is standard now. The X-Line received a sport tuned suspension. The S received blind spot warning rear cross traffic alert with the power adjustable driver seat. All the trims of the Soul (except the LX) are good. The only thing i can see myself adding to it is the OEM projective headlights with the LED daytime running lights form the 2020 Soul EX with the Turbo LED taillights.
My 2020 Kia Soul has been driving me crazy. The recirc button keeps turning OFF every 3 mins. I always know its off when I start smelling exhaust. I look down and see, yep, my recirc button turned itself OFF again and now the "fresh" air is coming in from outside pumping in all the exhaust from other vehicles, plus all the cigarette smoke and the pot smoke from all the people smoking marijuana in front of me. I'm extremely sensitive to exhaust and cigarette smoke, etc and cannot stand it. My Kia Optima never did this. The recirc button stayed on until I turned it off. It's so frustrating. I have my air just fine and then all this exhaust comes in and I have to push the button again and roll down the windows for a minute to get rid of all the exhaust. It is a constant ritual every 3 minutes since leasing this car. So frustrating.
I honestly like better the previous gen I bought myself for my bday 1 week ago the 2017 soul exclaim with panoramic roof spoiler 18inch rims black and red I love my soul😍
Can't they make a Soul that isn't grey or black inside. I have one and I would trade in for a new one.....IF...I could get a tan/sand color. Pay attention Kia Soul. ??
I have the 2013 Kia Soul. But one thing I hate about Kia souls is that there interior always looks cheap with hard plastic. They need to add more upgraded leather on the doors and the dash. I just switched to the Subaru Forester 2020 touring and to be honest I like it way more. I won’t be going back to Kia. #subaruforlife.
What happened to the HP? My 2016 Soul + came with the 2.0L 164 HP. Now it's 147 HP? The website also had the 1.6L Turbo at 177 HP and when I asked Kia I got no response. However, they did change the 1.6T back to 201 HP. So what is it? The reason I went with the 2.0L is because the base model Soul in 2016 came with the same wimpy 1.6L that was in the Rio. 50,000 miles later and the 2.0L is still less power than what it should have. Also, in 2016 Kia had an AWD concept Soul with the 1.6L Turbo. What happened? Where is it? I love my 2016 Soul + and with traction control it is amazing in the snow but, not as amazing as it would be with AWD. P.S. The ECO button, totally useless. I get better mileage without the ECO button. Took a trip last weekend, "up north". I was averaging 33-36 mpg without using the ECO button.
people make fun of Kia Souls, but I think this latest generation looks pretty good.

I mean it does get hot in Canada but not like Texas
What about the gt what's the difference
I just bought the 2021 Kia Soul... base model. I must admit, base model in this vehicle is the nicest I’ve ever seen in a base model car period!! Mine has some leather, seats are very comfortable, and its a peppy lil car. I’m now a die hard Kia Soul fan!
How is it holding up
Fantastic
@ninjakitty8944 this is late but i need an update im about to get a 2021 soul as my first car😭
This car is amazing cheap cars price and it is also affordable some of the rivals such as the Toyota chr and Honda Hrv are little up price.
You guys just a hair under 150k subs - I remember when you crossed 100k & got your plaque - suitable for hanging! Your reviews are always great - this Soul not for me, but I know it’s popular - see a lot of them around. Keep going! 👍
Were really excited to cross another milestone! Thanks John!
I have a 2013 Kia Soul. I absolutely love my car. Now I definitely want this 2021 model!!! 😩✨
We know a place 🤔
I like try last gen Kia Soul. That generation you could get features that are unheard of for the class: ventilated seats, heated rear seats, panoramic roof
I’m missing an episode of Top Gear for this....and don’t regret it at all! Honestly, Soul isn’t for me. I think Honda should bring back the Element...Yuri agrees with me surley
They are bringing it back

That’s where I got my first soul!
The #CarTownKIAFamily knows no bounds!
I just purchased the same variant EX last Saturday..!! And Just loving it ❤️
Congrats on your new Soul!
@@CarConfections Thank You ❤️
I don't like the car but you deserve 👍🏻
Just bought this exact car and color. Very happy with features, ride and price.
Howdy, great review as always guys! This car, along with the Forte, is really a great value!😸😻😸
Wow! i seen kia souls in the streets before!
Don't care much for this car but love your reviews. Great review as always!!!
Thanks!
I think the Soul is what pushed Kia to the top. I see this car EVERYWHERE!
Most comfortable vehicle I ever owned
Edit: this car proves the fact that its more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow
Hey I wasn't aware you also had a manual 2020 Soul LX. I enjoy mine too, and is my first manual.
You guys have to get the 2021 Kia Telluride Nightshade edition before anyone else! Also the new Palisade top trim.
We hope so!
Once we get a Nightfall edition on we'll definitely be giving these guys a call!
It's Nightfall, not Nightshade, but yeah definitely an awesome looking design.
i own a 2017 two-toned soul & i personally feel that the older models are better. i get that these newer ones have more technology but the front looks awful with the big grill & my glovebox is definitely way bigger & my trunk is aswell along with separate compartments. wish kia built the newer ones better. but nice review!!
The New head Light design is Very simillar to citroën's head lights design. Overall its a Very nice and aggresive looking car
Affordable?! Yeah, right!!!! The top trim model can go as high as in the low 30k! Redonkulious!
The buttons on the FOB are so much smaller than the FOB.
this car is my dream
Thank you very informative. Still happy with my purchase.
That is the tiger nose grille at the bumper. Its their signature.
This will be my first car and I’m excited
I have been looking into maybe getting 1..if I can find a newer one without that dang auto start stop button.
My 2021 has a key
Wow, great review! You talked about things im interested in. Are you guys twins? Your voices sound identical. BTW, the 2021 EX also offers a light tan interior. I drove one last weekend. Nice job. I subscribed!
Thanks! We're not actually twins but a lot of people think we are haha
just picked up the turbo in grey and i love it
Just bought one and love it
What trim level? I’m nervous about the CVT
Great video and education. I learned so much. This a great daily driver with some upgrades Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, John! Glad you found the video helpful
Great review! Was wondering if you got your Tesla fixed and also if you got the latest 2020.24.6 update that has the side repeater cameras on screen when your backing up? I haven’t got it yet and seems like everyone else has had it for weeks.
We haven't got that update yet unfortunately! We want it tho!
Car Confections Me too! It’s the best update since I bought my car in March.
Looks very nice. I would own.
Man, I even beat YT and sending the notification! 😸😸
Sweetttt
I have a 2020 KIA soul gt line my only disappointments with it is the sound system in the standard gt line (non turbo model) isn’t that great, and the other disappointment is the lack of storage. I only have door pockets on all 4 doors, the arm rest, and glove compartment. disappointed with not having any storage on the back of the front seats like in other models.
Why don't they come with an Aux connection? I like to connect my phone and my ipod to my car.
I thought the EX trim have projector halogen headlights not reflector halogen. I thought only the lower trims have reflectors.
Never say in o e or drove one but I honestly like them.
Be aware. The CVT transmissions are dying before 10k.
Just get the 6 spd mt and it will be a great car
Halid Islamovič only can be had on lx trim soul. The turbo version has a 7 speed I believe
7 speed auto
What about engine fires and transmission failures?
I honestly like better the previous gen
I bought myself for my bday 1 week ago the 2017 soul exclaim with panoramic roof spoiler 18inch rims black and red I love my soul😍
Can't they make a Soul that isn't grey or black inside. I have one and I would trade in for a new one.....IF...I could get a tan/sand color. Pay attention Kia Soul. ??
I have a 2020 kia soul LX in gravity grey and the inside is a beige/tan color! The carpet and other areas are black though.
Beautiful and beautiful color to 😍
Thank y'all very much.
to bad they was No way to see the rear seats folded.. you know the Main reason people buy hatchback SuV type cars..
Very good motor 2.0
We have a nice little glitch at (02:21)!
Is it a good car for ppl tht are 5'2 or shorter?
I’m 4’10 and I rented this car before. But I always drive with a pillow so I can sit high no matter how high the seat goes manually. I drove it fine
I live close to Nicholasville😅 and just bought a 2016 kia soul
U fail to state, if the driver seats all the way back.
When are you going to review a fully loaded turbo Soul lol? Anyways nice review 👍🏾
We've never seen one. They certainly aren't very common around where we live
You can trust once we get one we will give them a call!
Hopefully in the future I will be able to buy one.
dont, useless car get a nissan better than this shit
Here in Las Vegas I see a lot of Kia souls
stop the cap
Does this have manual?
1:30 lol
freudian slip?
Whatever color I want, my local dealer never has it.
well its a piece of shit no wonder they don't have it
I have the 2013 Kia Soul.
With the slowing down global economy nothing is good value for many consumers nowadays Nice review, though
1:29 is what I call girls when they make me mad 😭😭
I was averaging 33-36 mpg without using the ECO button.
does this model come in blue?
Absolutely!
Car Confections thank you so much I love this car
Is this the 6 speed manual or ?
Automatic (CVT)
stfu
Why won't they bring the 2021 Kia Soul EV to the states? Other countries get it but not the US. Not cool, Kia.
Best engine 1.6 turbo fir this model and white color
The turbo is great but the 7 speed dual clutch transmission has been troublesome.
ur brainwashed bruh
Why not presenting a higher trim model in real... ?
This one is almost fully loaded...
I do prefer the forte
A mini Range Rover!
No awd no dice
Like the KIA SOUL- but not this color.
Still prefer the look of my 2009 sport
Love my soul
Basically redesigned Nissan Cube lol
