    LOVE your channel. I am 6'3" and have struggled for YEARS to drop my irons into the slot. I did this drill and immediately started hammering my irons. Before this, I would hit an 8-iron maybe 150. Now, with the right foot back, I'm easily at 165 with compressed contact. My other problem was VERY inconsistent because I would miss the slot so many times. Btw... I've played golf for about 30+ years.

    My right knee was flaring out so bad my coach recommended putting my right foot on its toes! Even a more exaggerated version of this. Totally remove it from the equation. Helped me have much better sequencing and get that knee jerk under control. Very helpful drill!

    My swing looked like the bad example with my hands back at parallel. I tried the right foot back and let my right shoulder swing thru. I hit some of my best shots and very consistent. Thanks Steve

    Great video, my 13-year-old juniors' issue is just that, the foot back drill did not work for him ,he would still get on the toes of the rear foot early and collapse the trail side , only thing that worked was ,wedge under the trail foot heel ,and felling that the trail foot stays down the entire swing , need more videos on this as keeping that trail foot down cleans up lots of transition issues for juniors .

    Is the set-up as such: Club face square to target-Right foot back-Hips/Shoulders aimed slightly right as feet?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  7 днів тому +1

      Hey Jonathan! Yes....but I would just have club face point slight right of the flag stick.....where you want the ball to start.
      Say we want a 3 yard draw
      aim club face 3 yards right of flagstick to start the ball there
      Everything else yes but those aren't RULES....you're allowed to tweak to find what works best

    Good drill, many years ago a pro had me do a back to target drill which isn't his exaggerated due to my wicked slice at the time. Your drill with a “hit hard stop fast drill” from Rob Cheny works well together.

  • @thomasmccauley9607
    @thomasmccauley9607 9 місяців тому +2

    Shawn Clement showed this over a year ago, but not as drill. He called it the diagonal stance. I start using it because as I aged i couldn’t get a full turn on the backswing. I think he has a full series on this.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  9 місяців тому +1

      I would go toe line on way back and then toe line back to ball and then around to the left so shaft exits under lead shoulder in follow through

    Hi Eric. Nice drill/action! Hard to see if shoulders are also slightly closed and position of clubface to swingpath. Looks a bit like a S&T drill they call the Harold shot. Is it same stance for all clubs? Do you have ball position at sternum for irons and presumably forward for driver? Cheers from Canberra Australia 🇦🇺

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  4 місяці тому

      Hey Richard!
      I would say shoulders are closed SOME but obviously less than feet here.
      Stance for this drill would be same for all clubs yep
      Thats correct on ball position
      Aside from this drill here's how I would approach ball position and stance throughout the bag: ua-cam.com/video/sJd-0eEQU0w/v-deo.html&pp=ygUaRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIGJhbGwgcG9zaXRpb24%3D

    Would this be a good way for me to play? I have a big stomach and I often feel like it blocks my arms from a good inside path. Or sometimes my elbow hits the side of my stomach and the clubface rockets into a closed position - pull hook.

    As mentioned in the video - yes it feels a lot of upper body ..how do u then get your lower body into it during your regular swing ?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  9 місяців тому +1

      Hey there!
      This video is for players with an OVERactive lower body...so when they feel MORE upper body and LESS lower body with the feels they get from this drill, that will typically help them find neutral without really having to consciously think about it.
      Hope this is helpful!

    Does this setup help with shallowing the golf club? Or is this drill not for that?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  9 місяців тому

      Hey there!
      Dropping the trail foot back CAN help to lay the foundation for shallowing the club shaft and having the swing path more from IN to OUT...but the pieces in the following video would be the MAIN components to shallowing the shaft:

    • @Not.Satoshi

      Probably because the intent of the drill is to restrict the trail hip. You don’t want to restrict anything in your actual swing but you want things moving efficiently and trail hip firing out towards ball is not efficient. But there’s nothing that says you can’t do this drill for your swing!
