I “saved” this one, Eric. I’ve never heard anyone describe keeping your inclination to the ground, by focusing on the ribcage. Phenomenal stuff, my friend.
I’m at 15 handicap been golfing for one year. I watched thousands of UA-cam videos Eric by far best Content that actually helps. This specific video fixed my drive where I was hitting 40% Fairways now I hit 100% of my fairways just after this video alone it’s a simple things that work for me. Thanks Eric. I’ll send you a video of my so you can critique it.
Im an old self taught 5 hcp, great video from Eric, as im not a pro teacher my tip would be to work on golf related hand/eye skills Every Good Golfer that ever lived (inc Eric!) can Bounce a Ball on a Wedge, it took me 6 weeks!
This is so true. It’s for me the key number one for consistent, solid and straight shots. Besides being French I love this blue white red drill which is also the French flag. You are by far the best UA-cam pro. I made more progress with your videos in a couple of weeks than I did in years of classes. Thank you very much.
Eric, I immediately went outside to my net after watching this. 4 swings. All crispy. You hit on the weakness I have been trying to eliminate for weeks. Thanks again.
I feel like this video was made just for me. Have always struggled with maintaining posture, moving hips forward raising up and hitting those occasionally fat flippy shots. Exactly like mentioned, I was always thinking about shoulders, shaft angle, swing path and 1000 other things. All that made me too mechanical and not fluid. This drill and swing thought has changed everything for me. Since I started working on this been 100x times more consistent. Please keep it up Eric!
I worked on this, this past week and went and played yesterday and hit my shots straighter and higher - irons and woods. I typically hit it low in the face with low spin and pully. I literally shot 4 shots below my average. I hit some bad ones but I expected that. Thanks, Eric.
This video, and particularly your caveat comment at 9:26, hit home with me Eric. In fact, I'm very certain I've been standing too close to the ball because I haven't fully maintained spine angle. Love it sir, keep 'em coming! 🤟
Another great message Eric. I'm too often raising up on the turn back but this lesson is super simple and makes so much sense that I wonder why I've never seen it before. Taking it to the course tomorrow. Be good-Russ
another great video, I use this along with the club behind my back leading against a chair. It really helped me stay down and also understand the move. I was making that caused early extension. It was my initial move back to the ball, which was like a freight train out of control.slowly doing this move helps me understand how to stay down better thanks again
I cannot believe how this one simple swing thought pushes out all the other thoughts. I NEVER oriented on my rib cage. I have tried just about everything else. This was magical for me! Automatic Correction of so many issues. WOW
I finally saw my swing on camera and noticed I had been sliding hips in the downswing vs rotating. I worked on this all weekend and wowza, I didn't know iron strikes could feel this solid. When I get it right, it's perfect golf shots, but even when I still slip into that bad hip slide a bit, the mishits are way better.
I love the ribcage feel,Thank you Eric, I've always loved your swing, lots of width, and effortless power, to my eye lol, my swing thought has always been correct shoulder plane, and 1 reason was because of moe Norman stated he felt like he hit the ball by getting his trail shoulder thru impact, or his trail shoulder hit the ball, don't quote me please, not that I was a big fan of the look of his swing, but the consistency of his swing was very intriguing, but the rib cage is a whole new feel , definitely going to give it a go, it's looks like it might help me get the correct rotation/ or more rotation, along with better ball striking, great concept, a thought never works for me ,the feels in the golf swing is everything. just my crazy mind trying to simplify a natural/ athletic movement.Great stuff.
Great video Eric, really like the visual and color coding of the ribs. I have been implementing some of your tips. The season is only started in Nova Scotia, but I am really seeing some great iron shots and drives. Really crisp and long when it all comes together. Keep the great videos coming. Thanks for your time!
Loved this video, many thanks. Used this in match the other day and hit ball much better. Also noticed for me it simplified the backswing which I've been struggling with for a while.
This is a great concept, combining turn and inclination simply. It is also completely neutral. I'm left handed but play right handed. Lots of feels/drills that might help a right handed person feel awkward to me.
Miss your course content. You teach a lot. You produce content a lot. But I hope you are doing right by yourself and playing once in awhile. Value your youth and your ability to play while you are still a great athlete, Eric! Don't get too hyper focused on the work 24/7
So our core should be rotating our hips and shoulders and not the other way around? If so then that helps ke a lot as i think i swing my hips a lot to get the motion with creates my inconsistency
Hey Luke! I would say it's OK to think of it that way...yes. Everything affects everything....and there are different ways to do it....but everything must go! If using the ribcage helps do it thats great!
Thanks! All clubs here, yes! This "replace the front of the ribcage position with the left side going back and right side going through" would be the same for driver, woods, irons, wedges, etc Now.... We are always trying to replace the amount of FORWARD BEND (how bent over at setup) with SIDE bend on both sides of the swing (to stay on the same angle) So the longer the club (driver for example) we will naturally be LESS bent over at setup.......so the ribcage is already higher at setup.......so to replace that going back doesnt require as much side bend to maintain. shorter club=more bent over at setup=more tilt. hope that helps
Awesome as usual. I know it's unusual, but we would love to have you join us for a big group trip to TreeTops in northern Michigan, if you would like. We go every year the second or third week of September.
Thanks James! Yes---I didnt know that originally but someone told me that and I went back to see and I have seen him use it. Great minds :) Maybe thats where I saw it originally
Thanks for this video, Eric. If I could take a blue pill to make my swing look like yours, I'd swallow an entire bottle. Regarding the drill with the club behind your back, it kind of looks like what Tom Watson does in his videos.
Lol thats funny :) Hope you're heading in the right direction with your own move! Yes very similar---him and I know Jack used to do this as well....maybe thats where I first saw it! Has helped me a ton!

Hey! Yep this will be some extension for sure but this one focused on the rotation and side bend parts. If you do them well most will get the extension for free :)
Hey! Nope....just maintain your inclination to the ground (distance from the ball).....regardless of where you start. Obviously you want to make sure you have clubs that are proper length for you and are correct distance from ball!

I’m going to try this. But does anybody know how I’m snapping my drivers head off in my backswing? Bouncing off my shoulder so hard it’s breaking off Twice this year
Haha thats a great question! I certainly hit it good enough to compete at that level but I also certainly DO NOT chip and putt well enough :) I also only play 1-2x per month at this point with very little practice as we spend all of our time coaching so I would need to invest much more practice time to even have a shot......I don't love to compete enough anymore to invest that compared to how much I love helping others :)
@@CogornoGolf I can understand that. Although, I absolutely advocate and argue that anyone can have a tour pro level short game without a ton of practice. Consistency in practice of the short game will develop it, refine it, and build confidence.

Great tip Eric. I even say…rib…cage slowly when swinging and this keeps me from rushing the swing. Thanks
Thanks Kevin! I like that added little nuance!

Outstanding piece of instruction, Mr Cogorno..!

This looks great! Wonderful advice and I appreciate you! And tomorrow is a practice day for me so I will be trying this.
Thanks Danny! Hope this serves you well!
Thanks for this video 👏 I’m 54 and finally scoring in the mid to high 70’s but, still have double bogey par 4 holes due to me lifting up. Ugh 😣
Hope this one helps, Todd!👊
Good stuff , thanks for sharing that one.

you so much clearer than most Eric, good job

Thanks Rene!!
I guess this would be a continuation of the left side bend going back and right side bend coming down?
100%!
Excellent !
Thanks Michael!
That’s money. I’ll give it a try. Also going to sign up to your website
Thanks Kyle---hope it helps!! That sounds good man lets rock and roll
I subbed , just haven’t uploaded my swing yet !
Good stuff. I think that Jack Nicklaus used this drill.
Thanks James! Yes---I didnt know that originally but someone told me that and I went back to see and I have seen him use it. Great minds :) Maybe thats where I saw it originally
Eric, does red get to the blue going back or only to the white?
Another winner video!
Appreciate you!
Thanks!!
Red to white is enough....but if you want to FEEL to the blue or get there that would be better than not enough!!
This is excellent

At the range now listening as I hit. As soon as I heard “left ribs down & back’’ something clicked.

No extension in backswing? Buttons up? Is this rib sway? 🤔
Hey! Yep this will be some extension for sure but this one focused on the rotation and side bend parts. If you do them well most will get the extension for free :)

How about Eddie Merrin - turn your belly button up going back and bb pointing up thru swing. Swing the handle
