Today, I’m diving into some unconventional exercises designed by my good friend Tom Froese to help me break free from traditional thinking and create more intuitively. We’ll be going through a series of fun, random shapes and letters to see what creative chaos we can stir up. Along the way, I’ll share some tips and tricks for loosening up your creative process, whether you’re drawing, designing, or just looking to shake things up a bit. Check out the full process and see if these exercises can help you create your own happy accidents. Don’t forget to stick around until the end to see how it all turns out!

Thanks so much Chris! This class is totally up your alley!
Thanks Tom! Loved the class!
I just took Tom's Drawing is Important class. It was great! I'll do the improve one next. Chris, I just found your channel a couple of weeks ago, and I'm really enjoying your vids! Keep it up, man!
I enjoyed the idea of transforming shapes. Your dialogue is always fun. 😊
Thanks so much!
The egg salad hate had me 😂
lol! 😝
It's so fun to watch your creative process Chris! I love all of your random comments about your drawings. I am inspired to draw today!
Oh thanks so much, that’s so nice to hear!
This was a blast to watch. I think this is my all time favorite video. I love the designs you made into final. Hilarious! Maybe a sticker pack is in the near future??
“Listen, sometimes you get a turd.” - Chris Piascik 2024
It is true though 😂
Lol, sometimes you get several.
😂 Thank you for posting them. It helps me keep going after I get a turd. Or several.
I love to do this all the time, it helps to get quick thinking, and to play more 🔥🎉
It is lots of fun!
Love this thought process, and will totally check out the Skillshare class! Would also love to see your process for the riso color technique. I'm not seeing a video on that on your channel yet. Am I missing something, or is it still coming? 😉
I also worked at a Stop and Shop deli!!
🕺🕺
I really like this new concept! It was really interesting. I've always liked the blob challenges so this put a new twist to them! Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad you enjoyed it!
i use the dudel app for my daily shape scribbles. It provides a random shape every day or on request.
Never heard of that, sounds cool!
One that I like is breaking down inanimate objects into shapes and creating things from that.
Thanks for the drawing practice ideas!
Oh that’s fun!
Love this channel ❤ Just found you recently.
Your content is tops. You make illustration totally approachable and fun. Loving it. Thank you!
That's amazing inspiration Chris!!!
Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🙌🙌
Awesome! Thank you!
That would make a good sticker sheet
Thanks!
I think this makes you a shape shifter Chris.
lol maybe!
Great idea. Cool video again sir.
Glad you liked it
I’ve always done this with my note pages without thinking, there is just only so much room for doodles on them.
Notebook doodling is the gateway ➿
I often scribble randomly until I see an image emerge. Then grab it and go!
Exactly. Getting SOMETHING down on a blank page is all it takes sometimes.
Worst job - worked the register at a store that sold individual plastic flowers and plants. No one ever bought less than fifty flowers. The barcodes were wrapped around the stems and most of the time I had to type in the number..for each flower. There was no "x5" option. There was never a happy customer. All Karen all the time.
Love the video! Though I noticed my member name isn't included :( I need to sign up for Skillshare, I heard there are some awesome courses on that service.
Yikes! I must have accidentally linked the wrong file, I’m so sorry! It will for sure be in the next videos!
Hey Chris! During your live stream today, you mentioned that there’s a link in the description for a contest that you’re running? The link isn’t working so could you leave it here? I’d like to participate. thanks!
Hey chris , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
What program /app are you using on your tablet?
I mostly work in Adobe Fresco
I want to change my 12 character last name to be more in line with my 5 character name.
🥸
They do stick together tho and it’s so annoying. Never had the nerve to ask for sheets of plastic every slice of thing …
Haha yeah I get it, but putting a tear sheet in between every piece is pretty wild and wasteful. Also it always seemed to happen on the busiest times. Lol, I can’t believe how much I still remember that experience.
@@chris-piascik you said it it’s wasteful as. That exercise got me thinking about my last and only job I had before turning into illustration, pretty wild stuff lol mostly boses being petty and overly vigilant and me being super immature about the whole thing like I was still in high school 🫢
Also terrific work! Lately I feel like I can separate the pros from the beginners by seeing how each reacts to creating little turds as you called them. Pros move on quickly. Tom knows good assignments too 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great can’t wait to watch this tomorrow! 🫢📅
Thanks! Hope you like it!
Do people still do 'first?!'
Why not! 🏆
