Can you update me? I have a brain injury and was prescribed this and I'm really scared of the side effects, in the other hand I'm losing my family because of my emotions/episodes of mostly crying and saying inappropriate things. Can you pls get back at me about your feelings after 2yrs being on this drug. I have frontal lobe TBI. Thank you so much in advance!
I take it for pseudobulbar. I'm familiar with dextromethorphan because I'd abused it as a teen. I'm prescribed neudexta. I thought quinidine helped keep you from getting tacacardia, I can't spell it. I've had pseudobulbar since childhood. I'd get sent home for laughing and crying and stay home from school. I work now, and neudexta does help, but it's tempting to me to take an analgesic amount of the dextromethorphan. I had a tbi at the age of four. I was diagnosed also with schizophrenia. They use a similar drug now that's controversial called ketamine for severe depression in an inhaler. My psychiatrist doesn't seem to think taking it with cymbalta is a big deal, but I believe I've had some problems with serotonin disorder with severe sweating and such which was in the way of having to work. These meds and stuff aren't cheap. The psychiatrist says he gives it to Alzheimer's patients to calm them, and I told him there were lawsuits because it can increase falls.
I would wonder if it would be smarter to take more dextromethorphan rather than Norco for pain management if you're already on neudexta because like you say, the opiates won't be as affective.
Thanks for your excellent comments. I take the drug and it works exceptionally well for me taking only one pill a day. The price is totally and completely outrageous and my doctor is appealing the price with the insurance company - however, it doesn't look very promising. The company is ripping folks off. I tried to find a compounding pharmacy to make it up but no one wants to run the risk of a lawsuit.
Took this for 6 months for uncontrollable crying. Relief was good. Now my Insurance does not cover it. Now the crying is back. I wish I could take it
Nuedexta saved my life. It resolved PBA and related insomnia.
