Infective Endocarditis: Echo, CT, PET (Mahmoud Al Rifai, Stephen H. Little, MD)

A review of the echocardiographic features of endocarditis. Examples of native valve vegetations, prosthetic valve dysfunction, and natural history of extension and complications.
Following this lecture, a learner should be able to:
1. Describe the morphologic features of a typical vegetation of endocarditis.
2. List the temporal changes that help differentiate endocarditis from intracardiac malignancy and/or thrombus.
3. Accurately define the natural history of intervalvular fibrosis infection and its sequelae.
