Loved this video, lots of work to do to enjoy the snow!
It's a labor of love, for sure!
Just subscribed to your channel and love it. We are thinking about getting a Base Camp 20x REI or a 23ft Flying Cloud. I'm going to have to upgrade my tow vehicle because I have a 4runner limited and it just won't haul the 20x. How well does your Land Rover tow? Any issues or upgrades ya'll had to do? I'll check out your other videos! Thanks again for posting, this is very helpful for a RV newby.
Thank you! 🎉 We are right behind you-just put our '24 REI 20X deposit down today! 😊
Lots to do for trailer life but what an awesome adventure to experience!!! 💜
Thank you!
Do you like the Curz sway weight distribution hitch? I have just the standard ball hitch without a
Sway system. Have you noticed a difference with the bars?
Great video! I have the 20x and the Defender 110. Can you detail the specific parts you use for the hitch and sway control please? I thought the air suspension would interfere with the use of a sway control system. Have been towing with our truck but would love to get the Defender set up!
Thank you! We use a Curt Hitch + Sway Control system (rated for 7500 lbs tow weight and 750 lbs tongue weight). This was what was recommended by our local Land Rover dealership. I would recommend checking with your local dealership!
@@TayAndBrock looks like you have an extender for the hitch/ball too. Definitely more complicated with the Defender than I had anticipated. You are smart to advise people to do their homework… I thought it would be simple when we had the tow package installed.
@@BottleShotsVideo We felt the same. The hitch system we use came with the extender. we've been using it for about 2 months now and have no complaints!
what ball hitch did you guys go with? also how do you like Utah vs Cali. We are thinking the same. We are in Ventura. thanks.@@TayAndBrock
how long of a hitch extension do you have? Is that just to accommodate the spare tire on the back of your TV?
Correct! We ordered an extension to make it past the spare tire. I'm not sure of the exact length of the extender.
The problem is if you look at the specs, the hitch extension usually cuts your tow vehicle capacity in half or has a rating less than the weight of the basecamp. That means it's not rated for the weight of the basecamp and the Defender hitch is overloaded. We're running into the same issue with our Airstream and Defender 130 and haven't found a solution other than to remove the spare tire. We thought about a hitch extension as well, but if there were an incident we'd clearly be at fault. Too much liability. @@BuildYourTribePodcast
HI! Tay and Brock
Could you tell me the product name for extend towing mount and ball mount ? also let me know sway control mount.
I have a Defender 110 and the 16X Basecamp. I use the CURT 45781 8-Inch Long Trailer Hitch Extension. Works great but only used it couple times. Last time was Salt Lake City to Tucson. No problems. I do not use a sway bar of any kind at this point.
@@rhettherring4846 Thanks.
one more. How much do you set the brake (Curt bluetooth) sensitive to?
I would like to know how you keep your Basecamp in decent shape with all the ,snow and dog? Whenever I open the door to our 20X, my Bernadotte makes a beeline for the bed! Wet or not! It’s a constant struggle 😔
We keep a bath mat at the front door to absorb moisture and a runner rug down the middle. and we've trained our dogs to not jump on the bed/couch :) Also we vacuum almost daily!
How do you guys make a living? $ income specifically. Do u make enuf off YT clicks? Nice life man…very nice
Thank you! We do live a very blessed life. We definitely do not make “enough” money from UA-cam. We own our own business in social media marketing. 😊
Tay is 100% checking out Brock’s butt in the thumbnail. Totally badonkadonkin’ it. 🤣
Just admiring the view!
