It’s all relative. The wide majority, if not all, RV’S and trailers are just cheaply made and would never be true four season. The Airstreams are at least solidly made and you can see that just by shutting the door…that makes them amongst the best of the bunch. If you want true four season get a house or book a hotel room.

Just subscribed to your channel and love it. We are thinking about getting a Base Camp 20x REI or a 23ft Flying Cloud. I'm going to have to upgrade my tow vehicle because I have a 4runner limited and it just won't haul the 20x. How well does your Land Rover tow? Any issues or upgrades ya'll had to do? I just found you r channel and hearing about your in-depth research reminded me of what I'm doing now. I am in the early research stage regarding parrots/birds and I have really spent an insane amount of time doing the research. As you said, these birds live a long time and I don't want to make a mistake or have any regrets. I have narrowed down my choices to a few different birds and Pionus is definitely one of them. I won't lie, the fact that they aren't usually good talkers is one thing that's a small negative, but usually birds that aren't the most talkative are also quieter overall most of the time. I know that even species' that are known for talking, are still no guarantee to talk for anyone but I still am hanging onto that hope for now. Regardless of which species, it seems that males are usually the better talkers so you have a fair chance of your bird talking a bit. You have done a great job with your boy and I'm looking forward to catching up on your videos. Congratulations. Liked and subbed. 🦜👍

Can you use half ac and half propane heat?

The fact anyone would need to insulate a trailer this expensive on their own is Outrageous. Airstream, what are you doing? Get an Oliver. Far better!

Towing that much weight with the 4Runner can be done better with a bunch of mods: overland rear coils, scan gage to watch the trans temp, aux transmission cooler, re-gear the front and rear to 4.88 or 4.56, and of course, a brake controller. You can get a supercharger for the ultimate 4Runner and improve your towing fuel economy at the same time.

You can totally customize an RV and put your water inside but it requires stripping it out. Personally I want to get a really old camper and redo it into a tiny home.

I did a winter in our Basecamp in Boise. Temps got down in the teens. I added an electric space heater for inside and a portable outside propane heater (small green tank) to thaw gray and black water pipes in order to dump tanks. Extra steps, but kept walls inside dry. I did end up leaving bathroom door opened most of the time for heat to get into bath area. Used a blow dryer on T valves if they got hung up due to freeze. Antifreeze in tanks was a must. Moving blankets under mattress helped insulate bed, but under bed remained chilly!

I hope you figured it out on your Defender. We have a 110 P400 and just got our 23 Flying Cloud . The defender tows like champ. We used a drop hitch setup and lots of clearance The air suspension in the Defender will automatically level it out. We are excited for our adventures . Happy camping

Sounds like you need to revisit your choices of trailers! I’ve lived full time in Bambi for 10 years and never had much issues in Colorado through cold winters, but you must prepare properly. Remember it’s metal so cold & heat are intensified!
