@@karinneeskens, in a reptile center I used to work in. As a biologist I am fully aware there are no wild crocodiles in the Netherlands. But I never claimed it was a wild one 🙃
Please do take us on more adventures! I'm not from Australia, and the scenery alone is enough to make me wish I were there. It also makes me want more of these kind of videos. Congratulations on catching the fish you wanted. They can only be described as beautiful. If they were available around here, I'd surely buy some and dedicate a tank to them. Encore!
yeah i agree, i was looking on moving to Oz but after i seen what they did to there own people the last few years.... i will appreciate oz beauty from afar
I have been following your channel for more than 2 years now, its so amazing to see how you have grown both in making videos and in the fish keeping hobby. I literally the passion in you and it inspires me. Love the videos keep them coming!
This was definitely one of my favorites from this channel! I really enjoyed getting to go hang out with you guys! Please do some more of these fish hunt videos!! Absolutely gorgeous country and wildlife! ❤🇺🇸
LOVE the native fish videos! I'm in the process of setting up a tank for North American natives right now (mountain redbelly dace, saffron shiners, central stonerollers, tangerine darters, etc.) so I love seeing similar content from Australia :)
I think its a dream of all aquatic life lovers to see these beautiful creature's in their natural habitats. Thank you for taking us along on these expeditions. I'm really enjoying it 👌
What a beautiful journey ... it seemed like a National Geography documentary. I'll be looking forward to watching more such journeys. Thanks for this share and all the hard work .
I live in the us I lived near some crystal clear springs when I was younger I used to dive and just watch the fish even feed a few from hand I love your vids man I also have learned a good bit about aquariums from ya. Keep up the good work and happy fish keeping and exploring. Btw your a amazing film maker.
Love these! Also the red neon blue eyes native to Australia. Wish I could go catch them as well. Awesome job on breeding and best wishes for the future on that. 💜💚💙
This is excactly the way I wanted your vids to be. I understand that’s alot of work just for one video. But I loving it!! Best regards from Sweden, across the world!
I went (rod and reel) fishing in Kakadu once. It was an after thought at the end of a boat trip and right at the end of the wet. So I understand when you say the amount water scattered the fish! We saw a Croc, frog and not a lot else waterline wise. Lots of insects and stunning birds though. God what a beautiful part of the world.
I have some of these guys in my tank, they are such gorgeous fish and look amazing with pogostemon stellatus. They’re pretty easy to breed too, just keep floaters and have dense foliage!
I've caught most species in Australia and a few in PNG using nets similar to the "Trap" shown in your video....much easier and safer than nets on poles. The secret is not to worry about "Bait." in the net itself. If you see fish you can catch them. Lower net into water....fresh white bread is the best bait. Roll small bits of bread into a ball of dough...then flatter it. Throw it into water so it will slowly sink into net. the sinking dough will attract fish. keep repeating every 20/30 seconds. After a while more and more fish will be attracted, and eventually there will be a bit of a feeding frenzy. When you see this pull the net quickly out of the water. Repeat till you have fish you are after. Gudgeons tend to take longer to be attracted than Rainbows. They don't tend to eat the bread, they just get attracted to the vibration of it hitting the water and follow other fish attacking it as it sinks. Give it a go....especially if you are in croc country!! I live in Brisbane...Happy to demonstrate at any local trip you take
Great video Nick! it was so good to see someone else sweating it out on those tracks, you couldn't of picked a worse time of the year to go there, but I already told you that 🤣 I've never seen so much water there, winter is the best and you find a lot more in small puddles, still a awesome adventure for you and I was happy you got some to breed, that's all anyone ever needs 🙂
They look so Nice ! I Got Luminatus and Gertrudae now.. most satisfying fish i have.. i know they are getting even happier, when The get bugbuffet soon ! 😉😉
Im looking at taking the Mrs across the Tasman to Cairns next year. Don’t think I’d get away with dragging her through a swamp looking for fish somehow 😂. Well done Nic 👍🏻
Amazing video nick! I definitely thought you wasnt gonna get anymore apart from the one u caught earlier. They are super super beautiful fish mate and I'm so happy that they have bred for you mate. Thanks for sharing 😊
I have a tank of spotted blue eyes. I only have the one tank and only the one species of fish in it. I thought long and hard about what to put in my tank, but i knew from the start that i wanted a fully planted australian biotope. I'm so happy with how it turned out. It's currently full of fry and juveniles, so I'm clearly doing something right. I'll have to take some of them to my local fish store when they grow bigger to avoid overpopulation.
next time you do this i would suggest using a good pair of polarized sun glasses. those will really help you see through the glare on the surface of the water
Gertrudae are awesome. And each location differs from the next. I had Jones River Road which were white with big chocolate spots (much like these), Cadell River which were neon blue with smaller spots, and now have Giddy River which are white/pale blue with small spots. The fish from the Jardine River/catchment look very different from what images I have seen.
Wow, very beautiful fish.. ive been planning on doing the same thing down in the cold mountains region surrounding litgow nsw, finding some tiny cold water stream high in the mountains so i can get get some genetics that are suited to water under 12c and colder for a project i have in mind.. Keep it up mate, the more genetic diversity you find and breed, the better the over all health of the future for us fishoes.. cheers mate
I live very close to that swamp and it is filled with crocodiles. I went there 3 weeks ago and seen 3 in hald f an hour!!
Crocs do not like Dutch meat,, hahaha
@@casadelosotte , I wish. I've been bitten by one a long time ago. In The Netherlands even! So they do like me 🤣
Is close Asia, that's why you get wild Betta...
@@NienkeJoe Where did you get bitten in the Netherlands lol. Afaik there are no crocs in the Netherlands. At least not in the wild that is.

Such a beautiful fish species! Thanks for taking us with you on your trips!
Pseudomugils are some of my favourite fishes! Love it when the males display their finnage

Spotted blue eyes are awesome 👍, i have gurtrude blue eyes.
In today's Lesson we are going to teach you how to win a Darwin award in Cairns 😂 this is definitely my favourite fishkeeping Chanel
Hahahahaha
😅Hahaha😅...& same👍
There will 100% be a crocodile there. No doubt at all. Hymenachne grass is the clue.

Those are the coolest fish I have ever seen. I can see why they are your favorites! Thanks for sharing in your adventures.
The quality and the amount of effort put into just 10 minutes of video. Beautiful
Best things here is....the way he shows every process from start to end...even the baby fishes...
Definitely a fish I haven't seen in my life. Those fish are so beautiful and congratulations with the breeding.

Love seeing you collect your own fish. Itd be fun to see you take a trip to India or Asia where a lot of pretty fish come from.
Or how bout we don't post a video encouraging thousands to overfish native wild populations you m0r0n
Don't even consider that idea can you even fathom how problematic that is you greedy animal stealing human
Simply Amazing! Congrats!
It would be AMAZING to see these in America some day
