Classic Mini Mk1 Conversion - Part 45
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 жов 2024
- In this Classic Mini Mk1 Conversion episode we make a temporary sandblasting booth to sandblast our 1960‘s classic Mini mk1 doors. As expected from doors this old they are a little rusty. We also set up a temporary spray paint booth and give them a coat of paint after building them all back up and fitting them to the car.
We couldn‘t resist trying the red wheels, but unfortunately there’re about 4 inches to big sadly🤦🏻♂️ Haha!
So let’s crack on, I hope you enjoy the episode
Huge thank you for watching.

Intergenerational skill sets on display here... Father and Son rebuilding a Mini as it should have been done decades ago ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🇬🇧
Now that Project Binky is complete, I've been looking to satisfy my Mini cravings. I think I've found my new fix. Makes some brackets and get the funk out please 😁🤣
Ah wow high praise to be compared to the binky legends 😁👍
Cheers guys, beautiful father-son project. Takes me back to the days when I was tinkering with my dad 🥲
Enjoying working with your dad
She is coming on strong, well done👍
Thumbs up from me 👍🏻.. that tiger seal is a bugger to get off ... sticks to everything 😂
Great to see someone doing things the right way 👍 old school
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🙂🤞✌
Fabulous to see Dad being so handy with the hammer and dolly
Hi
Excellent to see your father passing on his skills, so nice to see a father son project. Great idea using Tigerseal for the door skin 👍
LOVE THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Hi
Thank you 😁👍
It'll be done for Christmas at this rate (2034). Good job chaps.
It great to see you Nd yer dad working together 👍👍👍⚒️⚒️⚒️
What I wouldn't give to have one more day with my DAD.
When you said I've got a Dad....Loved it.
Mark you’d never make a barman. Head on that beer mind.!! 😱😂😂😂
Great to see you both enjoying this project and loving the improvised sandblast room(greenhouse).
Hi
@@ximenaemery6964 hi there
@@carlmorrey5410 How are you?
Cheers boys, another great video
That's coming along canny, Good to see you found a better use of the greenhouse than growing plants.
Excellent work guys. So many of our skilled trades men and woman have been lost to automation. Robots build cars now and the fine art of the English wheel, using a dolly
will be lost forever if we don't pass these skills on to the next generation.
Nice to see Dad and son working together on a project. He knows his stuff.
Hi
Great to see you & your Dad working together on the mini. 👍
Nice to see the doors completed, some nice beating and dolly work from your dad.
Beautiful job on the doors, lads! Your Dad's a true gem! Get the shell either soda or walnut blasted... that way it'll not suffer from heat warping. Cheers. Leigh. PS: I'll send you pics of the progress on my Cosworth Vauxhall Viva HC on Instagram.
Brilliant work as usual lad's keep it up 👍👍👍
Great see you and dad bk 👍
Just imagine how many more minis would be around today if they had used a bit of sealant when they put them together in the factory instead of sprinkling rust seeds through the cars. Great job lads and great to see you back at it Dad.
Fantastic to see the amazing progress guys.
Really enjoy watching these. The production on the videos is top notch.
Well done. Keep them coming.
Hi
Really appreciate that thank you 👍👍
Great episode!! And I just started wearing the upbuild beanie again to keep me warm. The best one you can buy on this planet, Guys look at his merch shop.
I’m Pleased to hear you’re still liking the hats
😁👍
Cheers
Very nice to see a father and son working together and having a good time doing it. I would have cleaned the spilled black sealant right of reprimered the damaged spots and put a tiny little role of the similar but than in white sealant right against the folded edge of the doorskin were it meets the door frame. It will prevent water from coming in between the two panels even better. But I would love to see you guys continuing
Coming along nicely gents!
Your Da wields a hammer with some skill! Better than the guy who welded up my original Mini back in the 80s. And he was the set welder on The Italian Job...
Wow that’s interesting about the guy working on the Italian job set.
My dad had a mk 1. He took all the interior out to weld the floor just before the mot then realised he had 5 year old me with him. He put an upturned pop crate on the passenger side so I could sit on enroute to the mot garage.
The 70’s were fun.
That’s great, some great old memories with the old Mini’s. 😁👍
Hammer and dolly is the best way to skin a door. We still use that method daily in the bodyshop trade. I fitted two today funny enough 😂
Keep the videos coming. Can’t wait to see this mini finished. Good work fellas 👍👍
Hi
Great video, it's lovely to see father and son working together, but most of all being respectful to each other. 🥰
Wonderful job!
You can't buy this you and your dad enjoying life, spot on. Top content by the way, thanks 😊
Appreciate that thank you 😁👍
Great video as always and a well deserved drink! “Why aren’t you using a skinning tool? Because I have a Dad!” 🤣🤣🤣 love it!
Lovely teamwork skinning the door 😀 had to giggle at your dad holding the roll of paper towel.
Haha it’s messy stuff that tiger seal.
WORKING TOGETHER AND HAVING A BEER WITH THE OLD MAN ITS THE BEST
Definitely 👍👍
You and your dad are doing fantastic job . I never knew that there were so many differences between between a Mk1 and Mk4 Minii.
Lovely door gaps.looking forward to the front end going on.
Better than it was new.....

Impressive series of a classic mini conversion. I spend the whole day watching your videos from Ep 1 to Ep 45. And it was getting better and better in your video editing. As a fan of the Mk 1 Minis, I am impressed of your absolutely skilled metal working, incorporating your secret weapon which is your dad👍. A fantastic father and son project which i want to follow until your mini is finished. My deepest respect and stay healthy !!!
Cheers from Germany 🙏🧑🏼🔧
Ah wow, that’s a lot of our videos to get through in a day 😁👍 thank you for watching and your kind words it’s greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Mark.
Great to see you both back after all the disruption we’ve experienced.
I’m in awe of your can do approach.
Great episode, we had to use polyurethane sealer when we replaced door skins years ago, before they phased them out for complete door replacement. Excellent stuff until you get on you hands and it ends up everywhere!
Excellent job you guys and a great way to end with sharing a drink with your dad! 👍
cheers , good job lads !

💯👍💯👍💯👍
Brilliant detail. One of my favourite
Great to see you two back at it!
Nice update guys 👍
Your doing a fantastic job , i bought 13 minis a few years ago and restored 8 off them the rest i used for bits and sale parts . My purpose at the the time was customising ie special paintwork and interiors .They all sold at the time between 3 and 6k wish i had them now !!!!! Also had a couple off Coopers which sold for good money . Its funny people think because it a small car the work will be easy ? lol J P autos
It’s crazy how expensive they have become in the last few years, especially the more desirable models and early cars. We only paid £850 for this about 4yrs ago.
Just finished repairing and reskinning my land rover defender rear door so easy to do it in aluminium
Land Rover is definitely on the list of cars to have one day.
Cheers 👍
well guys that's a good job well done even if it's the old fashioned way to can't wait to see the finished product kept up the good work see you next time
Great to watch really enjoyed it looking forward to the next episode
Another nice job done , love your improvisation for spray booth and shot blasting.
Haha cheers, I thought I’d put the greenhouse to good use 😁👍

I'm definitely a new subscriber 😎❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍
Really enjoying this series as the mk 1 was my first car many a happy hour replacing rubber drive shaft donuts and engine mountings but great memories
Been watching this restoration from the beginning and I'm glad to see new video. I think the Mini is going to be fantastic when it's finished. Look forward to more video, it truly makes my day. Thank you and God Bless you, your Dad and your entire family. Take care and be safe.
Fab epp how on earth did I miss it. The only one I promise. 👍👍👍
The last time I saw one of your videos you were building the side extension so that you could start work on your project
I’ve got a lot of catching up to do I wish you both well

Cracking lads, well done. Best team on UA-cam.
Fantastic!
Great work guys. It's gonna look amazing when complete for sure. :)
Really appreciate sharing your work which is always at a high level. I used to work with my dad on his cars and had a few disagreements! And how are you going to get the shell into the greenhouse for blasting!
We have our disagreement too, I just don’t film them haha! Guna need a bigger Greenhouse 🤣
@@upbuild4397 Facebook they are always on their for free
Well done Lads great work love your vids 👊👍🏼👊🏻
Hello guy's, I've just found your channel tonight. Absolutely brilliant I've got a lot of catching up to do. Keep up the great work. I love mk1 minis. Cheers Paul
Lovely teamwork really enjoyed the content so far 😊😀
Top work, lads. But you're going to have to modify the greenhouse a bit to get the shell in for shotblasting!😁👍
Haha 😂
Молодцы, как всегда все аккуратно и щепетильно.
Жду следующих выпусков
I saved this up so I could watch it without interruption! 😃 Great stuff from both of you. I used to love doing things with my dad and now I’m the dad working with my daughter and I love that so I can see the enjoyment you both have. I’ve watched from the beginning and can’t wait for the next episode. 😊👍🏼
Hi
Appreciate that thank you 😁👍
Well done lads, been with you from the start. Coming together nicely.
Cheers 😁👍
Wow that's a shit load of blasting material, lucky bugger.
I was told and you would need to check you don't need any more than 90 psi for blasting.
I found every time I used the blaster tank like you I got shocks, so I now put a ground strap between the gun and the piece I am working on.
Wow your so mean give your dad a new rubber glove without holes :)
Haha yeah we’ve had all that media sitting there waiting to get on with blasting the shell, mind it’s all single use stuff then through it away.
Love your videos both keep at it
