For this dreamer update, I invited a friend to try out the game since its the most rewarding it could be for new player. He was completely new to the MMO genre in general and especially Maplestory (Since he never even heard about it before), throughout the process of him playing I realized how unfriendly Maplestory is to a new player. Even though Tera Blink did a great job of pushing him to 200, it doesn't left any remarks of any of the game mechanics that it introduced for my friend. In addition, he was not able to recognize one of the most important main gaming loop for maplestory (leveling legion and making links) by himself so the only thing that he does everyday is to hop on do arcane daily, fight RA bosses (daily ones), do monster park and some minigame event then log off (the thing that I told him to do, not the game told him about them). The game fell into a stalemate after level 200 and does not give him any further instruction or give any effort dragging him closer to the main gaming loop. On top of that, the questing system in Maplestory is outdated. The quest can easily be skipped by just holding down one button so why would the quest tab so hard to navigate and to understand? Some of the quest description is just like "A did something bad and it might cause some problem" without showing a navigation arrow or any instruction in the description of the quest that show the player what they should do, how could a new player know where to go and which NPC to talk to if they never finished the quest before? Still on topic of questing, the newer quest (Arcane River, New Character story onwards) did fix some of the old problem by giving more instruction but they have the problem of not being consistent, sometime and somewhere in the middle of the questline, after my friend finished the quest it just cuts off, at least it should've give some direction toward where and who to talk to in order to accept the next quest in the questline (The most evident part is in vanishing journey questline, after our playable character fell down from those phoenix birds). Going into the detail of game mechanic, Maplestory has the same problem as every old-aged MMO has that is ton and ton of functions and game mechanic on top of each another. The problem that my friend is facing right now is "what I should do next", he didn't know about maple guide (Its undoubtable that Maple Guide is extremely helpful but the game does not give it much exposure to the player) so he can only do four RA bosses that was unlocked though the prequest that I show him. He didnt know which quest to unlock which boss nor where to accept them. In addition, the 5th job Matrix was extremely unfriendly alongside with the arcane symbol system, last time I checked he has like over 450 vanishing journey symbols just sitting in his use tab that he didn't use to increase his Arcane Power to help him training. Other than that, there are billions of other problem that were not as stand out as the mentioned problems above; I completely agrees with Duky for making a tutorial world to familiarize a new player to the game or to just rework the whole New Player Experience (or in this case: "create"; since Maplestory is astoundingly lacks of a proper tutorial). TL;DR: The questing system sucks, game doesn't give any effort showing new players the main game loop and a severe lack of tutorials.
As a new player, i think the only things that bothers me is the price of a vac pet and price of the nx in general. So, i'm from Brazil, 100 dollars for a vac pet is something like 500 BR$ and it's A LOT here, i wouldn't buy it even if it was 50 dollars, to do some comparation, i bought elden ring for 150 BR$ so yeah, no vac pet for me. The rest of your criticism feel more like something an veteran player would complain about, newer players like most of the features of the game, what makes then quit is the transition of the playstyle from before lvl200 and after lvl200. I almost quite after reaching lvl 210 on multiple characters, the game is so much different after you reach arcane river compared to what it is before you reach it and the game doesn't prepare you at all for this sudden transition. Pre-arcane river you explore, do quests know more about the world and you get rewards for it, after you reach arcane river, all this exploration just become pointless, with the new legion artifact system, we get some incentive to explore more the world even after reaching lvl 200, but it isn't the same
@@mrutherford1994 i would be considered a whale in this mushroom game if we had local prices. I spend a lot of money on league of legends and definitly would spent hundreds or even thousands of br$ if local prices are a thing. But i don't think a vac pet is worth 3 and 1/3 elden rings lol
@@franciscom.bodinho2219 preços locais provavelmente nunca vão existir simplesmente pelo fato de que o maple quebra umas 50 leis do código do consumidor, então é praticamente impossível eles trabalharem legalmente aqui
As an OG 2005 player, the biggest issue with the game now... The game forces you to play it how it wants you to, All these videos, and having to be a certain level to reach certain areas. When this game first became popular, it was because you start as an explorer and you're in the maple world, you have no idea where to go or what to do but you meet people on the way and everyones adventure was different. Now its lvl 100 in 15min, You have no idea what 1st 2nd or 3rd job is because it passed by so quick, then 200 within the next few hours. Stuck in arcane river until 260 then stuck in sacred maps until lvl 300. It used to be kerning>ludibrium>orbis>aquarium>kft>leafre>etc. an adventure of the full maple word.
Instead of hiring US based devs, nexon needs to prioritize a US based monetization team. It’s clear every idea is coming straight from Korea which poses natural clashes with East vs west spending styles.
I've been on and off Maplestory since 2009, it's the game that I always come back to when I'm not really feeling any other games. A few months after Hyperion was launched, I jumped back in after a year or so break and was super surprised at how much the game had changed BUT also how much hadn't changed (which might be a good thing, I dunno?). I've always wondered why Nexon add levels rather than doing a level squish and making EXP slightly harder to get. Back in the day, getting to level 100 was a BIG grind and it was super rewarding. Let's say the new cap is level 150. Arcane River starts at say... level 70. Make the EXP curve harsher once you hit 70, just like at level 200 currently. A big job but streamlining classes by combining 2nd and 3rd job could work too. Passives are automatically applied as you job advance, rather than putting skill points into them, The job advancement isn't a short questline but rather it teaches you all the new skills you recieve as you advance, while giving you the option to skip the tutorial if you wish. I've tried getting IRL friends into the game many times over the years and literally none of them have stuck around because of how daunting the game becomes super early on. The sheer fact that "the game starts at level 200" quote gets thrown around, turns people off because just getting to that is a massive time sink for casual players. Don't even get me started on the Legion and Link Skills system, that's a true time sink. I'm aware that doing a level squish could mean that maps and towns don't get used anymore but there's enough maps in the game to have a dedicated starting zone for every single class, including the Explorers. The game needs more skippable cutscenes which in turn creates more time grinding, more time hanging with friends, more time running guild activities, less expiration items, more perm NX. I could probably keep going but there's an idea I suppose!
Skippable cut scenes. My friend, who (not to pull the race card) even is Asian, and enjoys Asian-themed / Asian-flared things, was so annoyed at the opening cut scenes & dialog haha!!! And I was like “yeah just spam your skip button through that”. I thought it was bad until I made a Lara 😭 I had to have hit the skip key 1,000,000 times, took like 2 hours to get through the intro dialog
My friend and I started fresh at the same time. He was a new player, but I was a returning player, so I knew what I was doing. By the time I had my 2k legion set up and my main character reached 6th job, he was still at level 150 and didn't know what he was doing. He thought he had to finish every quest in the game and didn't know that you should spam potions, so he was trying to save mana while farming, etc. I tried to help him, but he insisted that he wanted to explore the game all by himself, so guess what, he quit 🤣
HAHA this is a bummer. Sorry your friend didn’t hang with you. This reminds me of my brother though, we played in 2005-2008 and I remember calling him out so hard for waiting ‘til his HP was at like 15 to use a potion haha!! I was like dude just use it, it’s not worth the risk
Gacha system are just cash money making machine for companies so it is unlikely to change even for a half-dead game like maple. I would never spend even if there is pity, that is too much of a whale option which supports their current game and hence can't change. I only want to PAY for what I want to GET. Another point in this video was FOMO or time limited event which predates on player psychology. But in exchange it makes new player not feel like playing the game cause they already 'missed out'. I just joined GMS because I was asked to give it a try and I realised how little time I have left for the current event since I joined so late and all my 150 gears and going to expire soon. Except for a inflated level, I have nothing else to show for and hence once the item expires, I would probably be unable to do the content and thus leave the game. I agree that seasonal events are great but it should not severely impact the gameplay or gatekeep players. PS: for those for are telling me to do legion/link skills, I am playing because I like that class and has already committed time to it, I am not interested to spend whatever hours and would rather just play a better game. The system should give a much smaller buff for building up other classes as players should be trying other classes for their own curiosity/initiate rather than being be forced to do something.
I can see a once per account "permanent" hyper burn that is always available and has special rewards that specifically is there to help out new players that is completely separate to event hyper burns and if there is an event hyper burn currently taking place then the event hyper burn will take priority to being consumed over the once per account special hyper burn.
Something that's come up quite often for me while I leveled up my legion and link skills is knowing what is the "basic attack" of a class, aka its mobbing skill. Most of it, for me, is pretty obvious. Some, however, are not as obvious. So I can sort of imagine of how it might be for a new player who has never played any iteration of this game before. I've had two friends who either 1. Only used their mobbing skill from 1st job or 2. Don't know what should go on their hotbar because they don't realize some skills are direct upgrades from previous job advancements. Some classes automatically upgrades or enhances your 1st job mobbing skills the moment you put a point into the new skill, which is nice. I'm just not sure why they don't do that for every class that gets direct upgrades to their skills. Makes it much less confusing for new players as well as reduces their unintentional button bloat.
I'm surprised there is no mention of starforce progression or a pitched pity system, do you think both of these are good/fair and shouldn't be changed?
sf is my biggest complaint it is not fun at all its literally only fun for people that like gambling and or are stockholm pilled hard enough to like getting abused by sf like its actually just like a abusive relationship
@@Gamekrayz I'm sorry but starforcing my gear at lvl 150 costing millions on mesos the game simply doesn't give you feels absolutely fucking awful. Completely disagree as a new player myself like I should be able to upgrade my gear while lvling to a reasonable level to do starforce training maps.
@@Gamekrayz If spending 30b to boom your item 4-5 times in a row sounds like a good way to play the game idk man. You have limited time on this planet and you're spending it on a sh*t mechanic called starforce in a 20yo game. This game punishes your hard work and the time you spend on it by reversing your time-gated progression. It's gambling with your precious time in real life for a Korean version nft lmao.
Going into this video I didn’t think I would agree with that much. After watching it I’m suprised on how well you hit the nail on the head with the issues. You mentioned quite literally my two biggest frustrations with the game. I HATE that stuff can expire. It’s crazy how much stress it adds every event where I’m micro managing when I claim rewards so that I can make sure I actually am gonna be able to use them. I also hate expirations when it comes to real money items. No cosmetics that are paid for with real money should just be able to straight up expire or make you front a cost to keep using them later down the line. There’s also the struggle of having to decide in the moment which character you want to claim event cosmetics on instead of being able to just claim them whenever you unlock them and then transfer them when you have a character outfit idea. The game would be legit so much less stressful and I would spend so much more if those two things got changed. Even right now I’m stuck deciding which characters I want all my damage skin rewards on and who I want to claim the pets on when really the game should just let you store the coupons/item permanently until you have someone/something you want to use it on. This video is good.
In Path of Exile the newest microtransactions are always on gacha box BUT you CAN NOT pull the same item twice period! So you eventualy get everything or get what you wanted very much sooner (mathematically speaking) than any other gacha box
I tried to get my boyfriend into Maplestory (he's never played), he really enjoyed leveling different characters, he got about 5 characters to lv100 and got his hyperburning character to 200. 5th job was however too overwhelming for him and he quit. (this was about a year ago)
Ive got friends who quit before making it out of early game. And finally have some friends pushing through to mid game and theyre loving it. Theyre making money, fighting harder bosses, and slowly getting legion. Theyre enjoying it now. Its always when people are either hitting that first wall of CRA (vellum specifically) and not having enough meso to make proper gains, getting shafted by the usual rng of maple, they quit. But they also pick classes they dont enjoy or arent good without funding. Its tough man. And hell ive been there. I heavily agree with the Sand box server you mentioned and a starting increase to rates and a hyper burn. It truly would help people make it outta the early game. Oh, and mvp shouldnt be so fucking expensive to tier up and the rewards should be buffed ty. Oh. And the fomo of items expiring is fucking dumb.
I agree with the expirations being a huge pain. Nexon added expirations to items after people started to mass create accounts and claim event rewards and stock up to sell on the BM. Imagine buying an account with 1k hours of 3x coupons, 1000+ bonks, etc. I still think Nexon can revisit how expirations are in the game currently so they can be balanced for players while also not being abled to be abused by others.
Rather than improving vac pets accessibility, I'd propose a core rework of how loot works would be my take on things. I'm aim at creating a "missed loot" system that can hold a limited amount of stuff, like up to 10b meso and 50 unique items (if you pick up an equip of the same type, it stacks). looting items in Maplestory has always been an absurd problem from a design standpoint and should have been tackled directly, rather than them realizing they created a problem that could be monetized.
YOOO Duky I jumped into the stream yesterday and asked how good you feel like Maple is now compared to osms. Between your awesome answers there and even this video, I am learning a lot more about the game and I’m stoked when i find some time to train up my character. I now know I need to look into meso drop gear (and i enjoy this idea). Your content is awesome bro, such a light hearted feel to it. I feel like we’re like college homies cause you’re mad chill HA. Thanks yo
The issue with meso and drop gear is rates for items today are now accounting for max drop gear, thus without makes the rates tiny. Like why do i have 300% drop for 3x the drop value and nodes and sol erda drop once every hour, and fragments and symbols, every 2 hours… not if I’m at 0%, am i ever going to get those drop ? The other thing is, why are they capping these rates, there is no reason why my equips can roll over 200% meso in lines but max is 100%
I got into the game for Ignition and I got FOMO'd out before hitting 250. It was ridiculously overwhelming to keep track of so many systems, timers, expirations to the point where logging on felt like a chore even though progression in the game does and can feel very enjoyable. I came back now just for the event and some of the reworks and it has eased "some" of that and I been able to hit 250 easily and still not feeling fatigued -- but we getting there. Nexon please remove expirations, so items can stack. and +1 to a single cash shop and pity system
As a new player from Brazil, i tried to push Maplestory to so many friends, but as soon as they see videos like this showing all the problems the game has ESPECIALLY this shit "expiring" system on items AND pets that costs you 100$ (500 BRL here), they give up on even trying to play. The game has so many problems and things that scare people to not even trying to play, that i might just give up trying to recommend it to people. It's true that these events on the last few weeks were very good and that's what is making me try to get to the endgame, but the thing is that playing without a vac pet or meso gear (cause it costs a lot to get) it feels so unfair to do training that i just do dailys arcane, bosses and monster park, then i just play other games until i have these things together to actually play the game "optimally".
Instead of granting hyperburns for free, I always felt that providing alternative leveling sources for early game would be better. For instance: The forgotten PQs should be reworked to provide tradeable (account only) EXP tickets instead of EXP rewards that can only be used by sub-200 players. Additionally, the Party Quest Set effects should be reworked entirely to give you cumulative meso and drop effects instead of just damage and party quest EXP boosts. That way you get an easier time leveling for new players that doesn't overtake powerleveling for those with higher Legion, a good foundation with meso and drop gear once new players reach level 200 that doesn't make them overpowered, and most importantly: an opportunity for new Maplestory players to interact with people early on and possibly make friends again. If there's one complaint I hear all the time about Maplestory, it'd be how lonely things feel when you start out.
i got my meso/drop gear at like 260+ because before that it feels terrible inefficient and wasteful to train outside of dailies before i hit this level. i didnt see the value/need for meso/drop gear until i got to where I am at because of the vast amounts of meso, xp, and 6th job fragments i need to get stronger. i love how strong and free the dailies for maplestory is
At first I thought your first point was odd, but after you explained it I think that would be cool. I typically guess based on yt vids if a class looks fun. The fact that even when we grind our legion and link, we still don't really experience the class is spot on
Vac pet is great, but not mandatory. Before vac pets was introduced into reboot, people have been using regular pets or even hilla pets for looting and they still managed to reach end game. Personally, i think its not worth it and there are plenty of maps that you can grind without using it
I love maplestory and have played on/off since 2009. I find that other MMOs like WoW respect my time and all those reasons you listed make this game feel like a chore which makes me so reluctant to try maple again even if I do want to play
What do you think of things being weekly capped like bosses. Would you entertain the idea of unlimited boss grinding for items- just lower drop rates ? I.E an OSRS style of drop table - 1/256 for like PiNo ring.
@@Duky I guess one of the reasons I don't recommend this game is just due to the time gated materials. It doesn't make me feel good as a game mechanic when I don't get my drop and I have to wait for a week rather than just grind it out on my own, if that makes sense?
The wall you speak of is called “paywall” both servers feel it there is a paywall in one way or another. We need also more ways to get SOL Erda Energy, we were drag gated in reg now we are energy gated in reg, idk about reboot but both servers need more access to both by a bigger margin.
Well that’s why I said one way or another even if it’s less in reboot you guys feel it for vac pets and vac pets are probably more crucial & wallet draining than anything in reboot. In Reg it’s cheap as shit to get a prem water of life that goes for 270 days of revival. Both servers are hit by a paywall of progression one way or another. Also besides the paywall we have many other ways that even when you pay for something still does minuscule help.
i kinda understand the expiration design because it encourages actually using the items to power up instead of massively hoarding. they dont want the optimal way to play the game be hoarding months of resources for one power spike every few months , especially when new players might feel incentivized to save their early game power spikes for late game gains and screw themselves
Thought about it probably get the Vac pet and farm a sht ton until it expires only revive it when spell trace events are announced lol $15 is just insane monthly subscription to farm meso
15 bucks is normal for a subscription model. vac renewal should cost $15 AND it should come from MVP tiers so that if you are already spending $15 elsewhere, you get the vac for free
I started playing early last year and I spent like $250 trying to gatcha for a petite luna. Huge waste of money and I didn't even hit! Really hoping the way to get a vac pet changes because that is quality of life (literally just a few seconds of difference for picking up drops)
My friend joined and he liked the game but he asked me what to max for 5th job and ect i send him a GOOGLE DOC from the f/p discord 25+ pages he looked at 2 pages and said yeah i cant this is to much stopped at 205
my friend got into the game with me cause ive been hyping it up with this dreamer update but hes just not enjoying it due to alot of the things you said but also because the legion grind is just so boring to him. he also has no idea who to main and doesnt want to waste a hyperburn on it
Honestly the reason i don’t want to invest my time in the game is because of how divided the world’s and regions, are and in order to change it you will have to start all over again, its pretty problematic to merge them if they decide to do so in the future, but overall the game is top tier
As a returning player, I have some thougts about what made the game hard for me to "catch up". There's just a lot of events with a lot of mechanics and a lot of systems overlaping each other. When you watch a video of a guy leveling a character ang getting 10% xp from killing 1 mob and you think "WTH?!" Then you discover legion bonus xp, mercedes ls, etc. When you see people one shotting bosses at level 210 and want to know what's wrong with your character, then you discover about event buffs, equipment potential, legendary inner abilities... Every month or so you have to learn about a new event and how to capitalize on it while there's another 3 or 4 events happening at the same time. There's too many quests that are kind of "required" for you to progress, specially on heroic servers, quests that will give you pieces of equipment or bonus passive skills... Every character that you level makes it easier, but for a beginner/returning trying to level their first character, it can be a bit overwhelming. Specially after level 200, when the way to level and progress changes, and you feel like you are hardstuck sometimes.
Yeah i’ve been waiting for a vac pet sale for more than 6 months. Didn’t realise i needed one when I just came back to the game now I have no incentive to grind until I get one (lucky we got a free 30 day one right now). And also i had the same thing with getting a friend to play, he also quit at like 160.
100% agree with every bullet point that you touched on in the vid. One of the biggest deterrents for my friends moving from reg server or just playing Maple in general has been how grindy it is. I started Hyperion with my brother and he eventually quit because he felt like it was too grindy and he didn't want to commit the time with how little reward there was in starting out. Hopefully Nexon pays close attention to this video and other videos and reflects on things they can do to improve the game for newer players
I tried to get my girlfriend into Maple. She was going to main Bishop too (just 'cause it looked really cool). Then, she tried to solo Chaos Zakum and was totally put off on how badly designed and unfun it was.
I feel like class testing via legion leveling is much more rewarding than a sandbox mode would be, reading through 1 characters skills as you level it is way less overwhelming then being dumped in a sandbox with 50 classes with 6 jobs worth of skills to read through
dont forget the auction house if you forget stuff in there it disappears for good i got my friend in the game he dropped like 800$ on permies put a bunch in ah and went black for a few months and came back his stuff was gone
Nexon does not understand that not every player is a streamer, they keep adding stuff and you can play at your pace but for get an steady progress you have at least to be 1-1.5 hour a day, but to keep up to the end game you have to spent a lot of time every day. And I agree the wall for new players is very high, the will get overwhelmed even tho they get to 260 because now u have to farm symbols for another year. Even for me that I am already 280, I just get on do some bosses and hop out(pitched waiting room), I am not dealing with level up right now, just waiting 3-4 years to the nerf patches for exp to get stronger and power creep once you said that was the easiest way to get stronger...just wait. Pitched boss items WHY in the h.... they don't make a sort of coins like they did with eternals it's so dumb that I've been running 3 years now alone with 400% drop and never seen a book.
I dont buy boxes because there is no pity system. I dont roll gacha or philo or any of that because there is no pity system. The lootbox mechanics in this game are severely outdated and many players are not into them anymore. My spending has severely decreased. Today i'm F2P and just buy things I want via auction house in reg server.
Completely agree with all of your point. When I started back playing Maple recently and I was initially skeptical about playing the game again , knowing what I know now that it's a game made by the company that basically started to gacha system in the west. Yet, I was impressed at how far it has come since the old days but now getting more adequated with the system, I see nexon hasn't skipped a beat, and unlike in the old days lot of the nefariousness of the design implementations go unnoticed to the average player. That being said I'm on right now grinding frags, waiting for a vac pet so . . .
I 100% agree with all these things. I started during Ignition and no lifed the game because the new player experience, during major updates, is so good for a few characters. (Depending on the hyper/teras and featured class/revamp.) I even grinded out my legion to 6k after a bit into the off season. After that though, the Maplestory wall hits you...and it hits you so fucking hard. The lack of in game direction or explanation is one thing. If you don't do a ton of research or have friends that play you are cooked. The dailies are absolutely vital but took a disgusting amount of time and commitment. They're a bit better now but still too long if you want to do everything. You feel punished if you don't wait for cube and sf events, so you have weeks or months at a time that feel like you simply don't improve at all. The quick and fun part of legion dies so the side characters hit the same issue. Vac pets seem to only happen in the off season so you're paying a ton of money in the least incentivized times to grind. It really just feels like everything they do was planned for a mobile game disguised as an mmorpg...
So I had 2 major roadblocks when getting back into MS. Lvl160-200 and CRA. LVL150-200 is so boring. It's just grinding, and at the same maps notebooks and stonemasks. Even now that I play a lot more, I bonk pot through this and don't grind. Put a theme dungeon here or something. Hell, turn aftlands into a theme dungeon so we can do that while leveling. CRA is another problem. I noticed people forget how hard it is to do CRA without legion or links. I was comparing my CP to my friend who has 6k legion on their fresh hyperburns. With only the temp fafnir and no boss accessories, they had double the cp of my main that had 12* pensilr, the full boss set and a sweetwater weapon. Somethings wrong when the true strat of this is to get a carry. New players aren't going to think of this, plus there is little incentive to carry people outside of pure good will. Either make it easier or give out way for temp fafnirs.
1. In KMS the director recently (Milestone update presentation stream, if you want to look it up) said they're doing a main story questline to not only streamline the lv1-200 experience, but also make it faster by adding huge quest exp rewards while also letting the player better know the lore of the game, and if he fully follows through with this promise then it has a lot of potential to make leveling 150 to 200 much better than it currently is, which I do agree is a huge pain point, ESPECIALLY on classes you find out early that you hate, in my case being extremely high skill/APM classes like Cadena and Blaster that simply don't offer even near enough payout for the amount of effort and time you have to invest to properly learn the class, which becomes even worse when all you want those classes for is their Link and Legion effects (damn Blaster and his unfortunately amazing legion block effect... ) Mercedes as well but to a lesser extent, as like many others I didn't enjoy the class but only because I didn't want to learn the combos, which tbf ik are easier than Cadena or Blaster, but still far harder than most classes. 2. Combat Power is a failed concept to evaluate a player's ability to do damage. There was a popular player, I forget the region, that beat 4-door CRA with literally zero CP. Before CP was introduced players would use their main stat + IED (Ignore Enemy Defense) as the best way to evaluate their bossing capability, with Damage Range also being inaccurate as it fluctuates heavily per class. Main stat + IED still is the best way due to the unfortunate way CP works, not taking account way too many dmg sources to be viable.
I've attempted to get my friends into maplestory. All good buddies of mine who I play copious of other games with such as League, Valorant, Card Games and etc. They would enjoy like the first 20-30 minutes of the maplestory because the design is not harsh to the eye and the gameplay was simple enough to maneuvar around. The problems that came up were mostly being lost into the next step of progression and sometimes certain storyline quest don't even lead you to your next location so they get stuck and have to contact me on how to progress. ATM, my friends are waiting for when maplestory becomes alot easier for new players to navigate to level 200.
I think maplestory needs to change PQ back to how they use to be exp sucks now and nobody plays anymore. Maplestory also needs to bring back a lot of quests that use to give cool items like the bamboo hat quest from henesys. They also need to unlock content that use to be there like the Chryse quest lines and the leafre time travel questline because it’s so boring now, and it sucks you can see the content on world map but can’t access because it’s locked.
I feel like over half of the buffs in the game could just be passives/auras. Gameplay does feel a little clunky on a lot of classes when you are constantly having to reapply buffs. I'd even settle for just allowing macros to use buffs that have a cooldown. Bishop having to reapply 2 tele buffs and magic armor on login, then bless/symbol as well as hyperbody/eyes, then adding like 6 different buffs mid combat is just a LOT to maintain.
Ya when I returned to maple in 2022 I was shocked that they got rid of choosing anything in the cash shop to rotating stuff in randomized boxes. Although these boxes are perm, i liked being able to choose for 90 day temporary better lol...
my biggest problem is starforce it has completely demotivated me i like pushing bosses its what i like its why i pushed mythic raiding in wow i like sitting down for hours just going again and again and again at a boss to finally get that kill but no here the steps are Grind for 500 years Tap get 0 gains Try boss again no progress cause 0 gains repeat forever
The problem I currently relate with is the need of a sandbox. I've played maple super casual in the past then when a friend got me to play for Ignition that's when I started looking at what endgame is all about. I'm one of those people that have a hard time finding what I like to play, and some people can only know if they like a class once they play it and not just from watching a video. The recent Tera Blink made getting a hyper burn to 200 way faster and less tedious but it's still far from perfect in helping to try stuff out because of the 24 hour character deletion (I assume to protect from accidental deletion and etc) but that wouldn't be a problem if the character was just a trial character. (Why am I like this, i'm still looking for a main to commit to ;_;)
GOD YES THANK YOU! WE NEED A CLASS TEST FUNCTION. Other games have that so that they won't regret their decision of maining a class that they dont like after playing it for quite some time when they could've picked a different one.
I'm from Brasil, here the minimum wage is 1412 reais, the vac pet cost almost 550 reais + the monthly fee of 75 reais, it's insanity to buy it, if at least was permanent I would already have bought it, as for the boxes I 100% agree with you
The thing I would definitely change is the boom equips. Sf a pitched set and lost it for boom is a game breaking, especially with the time it takes to get even 1 pitched item. Pity system would be welcomed imo
A biggest thing for me is sht being untradeable. 2016 was when I came back to Maplestory for Reboot and it was fun. I quit for mental health and lifestyle reasons lol, but when I came back, I wanted to try my hand in interactive servers because the last time I was in an interactive server was around 2011. Now that I'm in an interactive server, 90% of items are fcking untradeable anyways unless you PSOK or some sht. Also, I miss the damn FM.
The vac pet being with this event's hyper burn is such a bait. It's definitely going to be an adjustment going back to the regular pets after this one expires.
My friend did his first hyper to 200, then quick when he found out about Arcane Dailies and needed a Teleport rock to get to places. He also didn't know what the path to progression was from new account to mid game income wise, so why bother (REG server).
I have only ever spent probably a max of 50 bucks over the course of a couple years of playing and everytime its all crap. I have regretted buying boxes everytime. But for me the main deterrent for me is the amount of daily content in this game. holy shit, I would never recommend my friend to play this game that plays like a part time job. i've started playing maplelegends and honestly, I love not having any pressure to not log in for the day, or logging in/out whenever i want, grinding for 10 minutes while im waiting on food etc.
actually agree on the NX system being ass.. playing TOO MUCH every week since the launch of hyperion, almost the only thing i bought was pet vac juste because the nx sets have been junk and i dont want to gamble 50k on a random perm item..
The lack of permanent nx items/pets is very irritating. Who in their right mind wants to pay monthly to upkeep all the pets on 10+ mules. I would make more mules, but I dont want to buy more temporary pets for them. I can hardly keep track of my pets and their expiration dates as it is. Oh, and yes, the hyper rock crap is ridiculous. Either remove them or make them last a month. Another thing that is impossible to keep track of when you use multiple characters.
Honestly THE number 1 stupidest thing in the game are rewards being limited to once per character.. The fact that this game punishes me for wanting to play the game MORE and do arcane/mp/sacred dailies on more than one character is insane to me.
A beginner's NX bundle would be amazing, there's like nothing worth it in the cash shop in heroic, but I'd love to spend some money to get me started as a new player.
I was waiting for you to touch on the starforce system, that for me is the biggest crap in this game. If any system in Maple has made me consider quitting in the last 15 yrs that's it. My solution is simple, give players the option to choose whether the wanna gamble or not. So for example if I want to get my CRA to 22 and don't wanna gamble let me just pay the amount of meso it takes on average to get to 22* along with sacrificing # of pieces of equipment that typically booms to get 22. That would be so much better and players would still have to farm just as much if not more for meso and spares but this way they would be guaranteed to get progress.
Everything that have RNG in this game, not only that freak PSSB need to have pity system, for cubing need to have pity system like kms already, I mean for PSSB you don't need to have pity but give us the whole set and increase price a little bit, or even make those set to be able to buyout with nx within that time rotation, there a lot of ways to improve this and get win-win situations. For those random boxes, I still angry with previous Konosuba collabo, I mean I really love Konosuba but they split everything behind loot boxes, like you wanted full set and you need to roll 3 type of lootboxes to have chance to get "EACH PIECE" , what in the heck who design system like this, I'm ok with paid collabo items but not like this behind this splitting stupid lootboxes, like look I like your game and I love the collabo, and I willing to paid some $ to get it but not like this. In that Konosuba collabo period, let me speak about philo book, first thing first why the heck they put cosmetic items in the actual in-game functional item pool and not to mention, those pool so outdated I really hope for update like soon as possible, like epic CRA piece, I mean it useful, but its not worth the money spend at all at this date. and for last one for now I wish they implement QoL about potential reroll, to be able to choose what line I wanted and auto reroll those for me, like i have 3 stacks of mystical cubes and I wanted my item to tier up from rare to epic with my wanted 2L , to save the time and make less mistake. Edit: and please option to skip those arcane river, grandis story skip in burning world or whatever event world they going to release.
Things expiring is 100% my biggest issue with this game. Maplestory honestly might be one of my favorite games EVER if not for that, but because of the extreme FOMO in the game...I can only play seasonally. ;
Semi new player perspective here on all points. For reference, I started mid march. I'm currently 251 on Hayato/Path with 7k legion. TLDR; Add drop rates to sprout badge, give all accounts 1 vac pet perm purchase opp, I'm a skin whale who spends nothing here cause of shit SSBS system and locked storage, fuck the cash shop, fuck expiration especially. 1. I hard agree. At character select, you should get a test room that puts you in a small area like Tera Blink and lets you test at job 6. However, i think that would be detrimental to legion. 2. AGREE! They should either make the New Sprout beginner title thing that gives +starforce and +10% xp, also give equivalent to 5 line Meso/Drop gear. I do think overall, cubing for drop gear feels really bad and should just be flat out removed with just having all rates increased by that amount period. 3. I dont think I agree here unless you could delete and remake inwhich case this would function as a psuedo sandbox mode to try classes. 4. Vac Pet... I'm honestly, not sure how i'm going to play the game once it expires because its such a big quality of life improvement. It's so impactful and so important, I may give up on hayato after burning is over and only play explorers cause they have the biggest cash shop and thus it would be the most value. Picking my roster based on this feels REALLY bad though. There should also be 1 per account available for purchase, with no expiration. I also think you should be able to at the very least be able to pay to transfer it to a different cash shop. 5. Playing into the point above, part of the reason i dont participate in fashion story is because cash shops are locked. I'm someone with 1000+ skins on league, and 500+ variants on Marvel Snap and yet I've only spent maybe $30 here on fashion cause its locked and its random. If they made that "free" 11th box from a stack a selectable, they would get way more out of a player like me. 6. Just agree, i dont understand why we cant and it feels mandatory to spend that 5.2m or whatever whenever im making a new character. feels bad. 7. YUP. I don't understand expiring either. As a new player, from minar picnic and last event, i lost out sol erda frags because i didn't have a 260 (still dont) and they expired. I lost out on cubes/flames i had saved up because family stuff came up and didn't log in for a few days and all expired. From last event, 20 3x coupons expired because I don't have time to farm very often with fulltime job and school and wife/son. This i think is singlehandedly, the WORST part of maple especially when you consider that just about everything requires RNG.
i promise you that you are definitely not whining when you're simply just asking for qol things that are literally just the standard for all mmos and gachas now, idk how this game is still alive and still has so many archaic systems that people put up with
The game doesn't encourage new players to join, that's a fact for me. I'm sure the main target audience for seasonal events with hyper burning + zero to hundred + food storage is mainly new players (and old players who hate farming legion or who never got to the mid game), but really starting to play outside of these patches The experience is very horrible. I've already tried to get several friends to play, but none of them were successful, and in fact, this game lives much more from the nostalgia of those who played it as children than from new players. About twelve years ago, my best friend tried to play the game and simply gave up because he didn't find it fun. What he wanted most was to explore the world, do quests, learn the history and everything else. But the reward for doing these things is rotten, an infinity of old quests with no context anymore... Then looking directly "what's there to do that will entertain me in the future?" and you look and see nothing, just a purposeless farming simulator, an MMO that has existed for decades, and the story progresses so slowly, they no longer give you space to explore secondary stories, while the main story gets forward one time per year, and if there is. He must have gotten close to lv170 with some mules at 70 and that's it. About five years ago I tried to get my boyfriend to play too, and he absolutely hated the game. Not because it didn't look cool or fun, but because of how old-fashioned the game was, the systems, unfixed bugs, bad choices by Nexon, the way of monetization... To also look ahead and see that the late game wasn't fun. . He didn't even get to the 4th job to even try, let alone the 5th job, because he didn't even want to give it a chance due to so many barriers from the beginning. And almost everyone else I've invited is exactly the same. An infinite grinding game nowadays, no one has the time or the energy for that anymore, that style of game is gone, for example I play a lot for nostalgia, but I'm much more of a dailystory than ever. It doesn't work anymore. And they don't try to reinvent themselves right. Of course, making the game accessible to casuals works and it's probably their biggest audience, but their monetization shouldn't even be from this gigantic audience that plays precisely because I'd rather take my money and buy a skin on LOL than for cash in this game.
I have never bought the cosmetics lootboxes but if they had a good pity system I would have spent more money than I care to admit on something like the konosuba event ones. They should be have a smaller pool of items too.
I got my friend into maplestory about 8-9 months ago and they made it all the way to 6th job in only a few months but he quit playing because he heard of meso changes that killed reboot and was too scared to put time playing a game that could possibly die
Overall they were enjoying the game alot and I'm trying to get them to try it again since they didn't happen but it's silly something like that had to even scare players away in the first place
I returned to MapleStory a month ago after not playing for 15 years. This is what I would change; 1. Being able to skip the Story, but keep the Maple. Seriously, why do I have to sit through and spam "interact" on all these story missions I've already seen? Fighting Gloom and the story you're forced to sit through every time is so boring I was contemplating quitting right there. You need to be able to skip through the dialogue on missions after you've seen them once. 2. The Cash Shop being separated by the factions is stupid and very greedy. It's an integrity issue with this one, serves no purpose but to gouge the player base. 3. More UI customization. It's very outdated to have your skills locked to being displayed in the top right corner. Let me put them where I want them like Final Fantasy XIV. 4. Adding the NumPad on keyboard for Key Bindings. Having that extra space for buffs would be so beneficial to a lot of classes that have a mess of abilities across the keyboard. 5. The odds of enchantments and cubes needs to go up. Honestly, is Nexon just trying to piss me off with how pathetic the odds are for me to increase the grade of my items?
I would 100% buy nx if i guaranteed got what i wanted. Too many times have i bought these11 packs of surprise boxes and only gotten shit. I would rather pay 100k nx for that 11 pack if i could choose every single item
Maplestory is a game i would never recommend for newplayers maybe for older players but never for new players simply because their just sooo much learning curve you have to learn and it can be very overwhelming for newplayers
I would be down for the pity system for SSBs. I don't buy them because of the RNG. I have been complaining about the CS inventory for years. I get tired of spending NX to have stuff sit and not being used. It deterred me from spending.
Personally, I have issue that we actually need damage to mob. like isn't mobbing like a bread and butter in the game if we cant even do the basic stuff of mobbing is there even any point in playing the game for long hours?
Interesting to see all the vac hate, i honestly feel like its not that bad as nexon's only garunteed reboot server income being the 15/month vac sub. Id especially say its not that bad because of the free vacs we get, depending on when you are playing you can have really high free vac uptime (khali release-6th job events had pretty high uptime on free vac, recently weve had a pretty long dry spell on free vac tho) I feel like sandbox system would be bad/confusing because you have to read through 5 or 6 jobs worth of skills and passives and not neccesarily know what lower job skills you should be using once you are progressed out of the job. The only way to "easily and quickly" know the skills that should be on your bar is to join reboot central, join every class discord, and open up every class guide and read through each google doc when you try the class. I dont really see an easy solution because if you cut out the useless skills from lower jobs, the leveling experience gets way worse but it leaves a lot of clutter if you are rushed to 200 via burning, bonk pots, or some sort of sandbox mode.
To your first point about vac pets being a subscription for guaranteed money from Reboot - just make it a subscription-based game/server. It's pure greed for a functionality that everyone should already have. Maple (and eastern MMOs) has that annoying thing where they specifically create an issue on purpose, and then make you pay for it so you feel like you're actually getting something. That bounces new people off of your game very quickly because new players don't have that preexisting connection to the game like most of the active population does.
@@murmurder it is pure greed, but its a company, it has to make money, VAC pets are a pretty small evil compared to many game's monetization. For new players it is not a requirement, 1) they are not grinding enough for it to be relevant, and 2) free VAC exists and is generally released alongside big content updates where new players are joining in, this is more than enough for a player grinding 30minutes a day.
@@momoaa You're missing the point. Companies need to make money, but they would make more with fair practices. Creating a problem just to monetize it is something gamers tend to dislike. That small evil is something new players won't tolerate, it's a pretty big pain point. It's death by a thousand cuts. Think about all of the other little things they nickle and dime you on, when you can get the same amount of fun and pay less in other games. Why do you think Reboot is so popular compared to regular servers? You can tell in this comment section who has played MS for a long time like us, because we play through these things, but new players don't face that friction in other, way more successful, modern mulitplayer games.
@@murmurder I mean I get your point, I guess to me it just doesnt seem like a big deal to me to drop 100 bucks on a game you really enjoy and are putting hundreds or thousands of hours into. I feel like the target audience of this game is like 20-30 year olds, who probably at least have that much disposable income. Most of the super popular games these days are monetized the way they are because they are games for children, but i dont think you could ever redesign maplestory to appeal to the current generation of kids so monetizing it for kids seems a bit silly. I think the important part is how new players are mislead, like even in this very video Duky says VAC is required for endgame and every new player just assumes they are going to hit endgame when only like 10% of the actual active players of this game are endgame, so when you consider only a very small % of new players are going to become active players and only a small % of those players will push to endgame, only like 0.1% or less of new players actually "need" a VAC. I agree with you that obviously they are creating a problem and selling the solution so surely it feels bad, but i dont think that VAC is the dealbreaker for most players, they were probably going to quit either way because this game really is niche, most people dont want to grind hours and hours every day for very minimal progression or progression that can all boom in a bad SF session. My personal experience is that I started playing with two friends, we played for a few weeks, VAC came out, me and 1 other friend bought it, both my friends quit shortly after and left me alone on the game, and VAC was definitely not the reason either of them quit. Something similar, Ive seen a person posting on an earlier video that they "didnt want to grind until they finish their meso/drop gear because they didnt want to "waste" the grinding", probably because Duky said you NEED meso drop gear. You dont NEED a vac, you dont NEED a meso set, just play the game and work towards them. If you dont like grinding with no drop gear, you arent gonna suddenly like grinding with drop gear, same for VAC. If you dont like grinding you wont like this game, at the end of the day. I guess you can just be a daily player, but again you dont need a VAC to log in and do 30 minutes of arcane river and monster park.
I used to spend up to 300 € A MONTH on granblue fantasy. A fricking gacha game. Only because there was a pity system AND i felt like the game was rewarding me to some extent for the money spent. I would ALSO spend a lot on perm NX items if there were any. No way in hell i'm buying anything that expires in 90 days.
Well if something was perm but cost 200$ vs something 90days but costs $5. Then basically it ends up being somewhat negligible in the long run. The break even would be in 10 + years which by then the game could be very different or you wouldn’t even be playing the game anymore.
Suprised the legion/link system wasnt brought up more, for me it was my little brother trying to get into the game. He liked Mercedes so he started with one and hyper'd it. As soon as it got to the point where pets made farming substantially easier he quit. Playing a squishy class on 0 legion/links is just dogshit. People cant even play the class they want when they first get into the game until they put 10+ hours into playing classes they dont give a shit about for the link skills. Wretched design imho.
i hated links and legion too but if you raw dog your main it only starts feeling like shit if you try to prog cra, and by then you prob have enough bonks and burns to get a couple of links going. im almost 2 months in and gowest gave me over 2k legion which already feels pretty significant
@Jaynesslessly I'm at 7k legion, doesn't make the system less shit. No one wants to get into a mmorpg and be told, "There's 20 hours of grinding if you want the class you ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY to even feel good." That is dogshit design no argument to be made.
Long ass pre-quests, unskippable storyline cutscenes (explorers for example have like 1h of cutscenes until lvl 100), pay for convenience is so unbearable that the game is basically pay to play (and compared to other games, it's a high cost) so many long time-gated content. Those are some of the reasons that make me not go back to gms and just play private servers with up-to-date-ish content and higher rates instead
I think they should completely remove the nx gamblilng system (gacha, premium boxes, etc). I would buy more if it know for sure I can get an item I want.
i watched my friend swipe to $200+ get his full dino outfit and ended up missing the shoes. This game NX system preys on bad luck and whales. It should be like Valorant’s system. Where you can buy individual skin pieces for $15-25 each for a gun skin or $75-100 for a bundle for 4 skins and a knife. personally i would almost never buy loot boxes but i would consider it if it copied Valorant.
TL;DR: The questing system sucks, game doesn't give any effort showing new players the main game loop and a severe lack of tutorials.
if vac pets where perm and like £50 id buy one for each faction 100%
Pre-arcane river you explore, do quests know more about the world and you get rewards for it, after you reach arcane river, all this exploration just become pointless, with the new legion artifact system, we get some incentive to explore more the world even after reaching lvl 200, but it isn't the same
HAha and I'm over here about to break the family's raining day fund jar, with the only complaint being that they release them sooner than later
@@mrutherford1994 i would be considered a whale in this mushroom game if we had local prices. I spend a lot of money on league of legends and definitly would spent hundreds or even thousands of br$ if local prices are a thing. But i don't think a vac pet is worth 3 and 1/3 elden rings lol
brazil mentioned
@@franciscom.bodinho2219 preços locais provavelmente nunca vão existir simplesmente pelo fato de que o maple quebra umas 50 leis do código do consumidor, então é praticamente impossível eles trabalharem legalmente aqui
@@Linkinbr eu me liguei nisso quando abri o cash shop e vi as loot boxes KKKKKKKKK
It used to be kerning>ludibrium>orbis>aquarium>kft>leafre>etc. an adventure of the full maple word.
its just arcane river now with the new event
all content before lv200 is nullified
Instead of hiring US based devs, nexon needs to prioritize a US based monetization team. It’s clear every idea is coming straight from Korea which poses natural clashes with East vs west spending styles.
100%
I'm surprised there is no mention of starforce progression or a pitched pity system, do you think both of these are good/fair and shouldn't be changed?
both are good/fair and shouldn't be changed.
i like it
sf is my biggest complaint it is not fun at all its literally only fun for people that like gambling and or are stockholm pilled hard enough to like getting abused by sf like its actually just like a abusive relationship
I don't/won't recomend MS to anyone until they get rid of NX/event items expiring

I wish more content creators made a video like this. Everything you said is spot on. Thank you for making an amazing video!
i got my meso/drop gear at like 260+ because before that it feels terrible inefficient and wasteful to train outside of dailies before i hit this level. i didnt see the value/need for meso/drop gear until i got to where I am at because of the vast amounts of meso, xp, and 6th job fragments i need to get stronger. i love how strong and free the dailies for maplestory is
Honestly link skills should not be limited and also not cost anything should be similar to how the legion pages are now imo
Personally, i think its not worth it and there are plenty of maps that you can grind without using it
I wanna be able to customize my UI more
I love maplestory and have played on/off since 2009.
I.E an OSRS style of drop table - 1/256 for like PiNo ring.
i guess it could be a thing, not sure how to balance it tho
@@Duky I guess one of the reasons I don't recommend this game is just due to the time gated materials. It doesn't make me feel good as a game mechanic when I don't get my drop and I have to wait for a week rather than just grind it out on my own, if that makes sense?
The wall you speak of is called “paywall” both servers feel it there is a paywall in one way or another. We need also more ways to get SOL Erda Energy, we were drag gated in reg now we are energy gated in reg, idk about reboot but both servers need more access to both by a bigger margin.
paywall is way less in reboot heroic worlds
Well that’s why I said one way or another even if it’s less in reboot you guys feel it for vac pets and vac pets are probably more crucial & wallet draining than anything in reboot. In Reg it’s cheap as shit to get a prem water of life that goes for 270 days of revival. Both servers are hit by a paywall of progression one way or another. Also besides the paywall we have many other ways that even when you pay for something still does minuscule help.
I think all the burns should be perm once you use instead of having a deadline to hit the end of a burn
i kinda understand the expiration design because it encourages actually using the items to power up instead of massively hoarding. they dont want the optimal way to play the game be hoarding months of resources for one power spike every few months , especially when new players might feel incentivized to save their early game power spikes for late game gains and screw themselves
That 15 bucks for 1 month is crazy
I used to pay $15 a month to play World of Warcraft, if that makes you feel better.
Then, she tried to solo Chaos Zakum and was totally put off on how badly designed and unfun it was.
isn't the class testing done in the form of legion or link to 210?
nah, thats nowhere near enough
About to go into that quest in which you can send a message to the devs and just link this video lmao
That being said I'm on right now grinding frags, waiting for a vac pet so . . .
the game is already amazing as it is now but if these suggestions actually go through, this game would be EPIC
I would 100% spend money if I could guarantee vac pets and cosmetics I wanted!
1. In KMS the director recently (Milestone update presentation stream, if you want to look it up) said they're doing a main story questline to not only streamline the lv1-200 experience, but also make it faster by adding huge quest exp rewards while also letting the player better know the lore of the game, and if he fully follows through with this promise then it has a lot of potential to make leveling 150 to 200 much better than it currently is, which I do agree is a huge pain point, ESPECIALLY on classes you find out early that you hate, in my case being extremely high skill/APM classes like Cadena and Blaster that simply don't offer even near enough payout for the amount of effort and time you have to invest to properly learn the class, which becomes even worse when all you want those classes for is their Link and Legion effects (damn Blaster and his unfortunately amazing legion block effect... )
Mercedes as well but to a lesser extent, as like many others I didn't enjoy the class but only because I didn't want to learn the combos, which tbf ik are easier than Cadena or Blaster, but still far harder than most classes.
Why is your main in 12* pens? We are running an event that gives you a free 17* abso super easily and a free arcane at 260
I've attempted to get my friends into maplestory.
Although these boxes are perm, i liked being able to choose for 90 day temporary better lol...
my biggest problem is starforce it has completely demotivated me i like pushing bosses its what i like its why i pushed mythic raiding in wow i like sitting down for hours just going again and again and again at a boss to finally get that kill but no here the steps are
Grind for 500 years
Tap get 0 gains
Try boss again no progress cause 0 gains
repeat forever
I'm from Brasil, here the minimum wage is 1412 reais, the vac pet cost almost 550 reais + the monthly fee of 75 reais, it's insanity to buy it, if at least was permanent I would already have bought it, as for the boxes I 100% agree with you
brazil mentioned
He also didn't know what the path to progression was from new account to mid game income wise, so why bother (REG server).
you're so right lol. There should be set rates. I'm too lazy to make dropgear/meso gear when im just dailying.
Have you even played the game recently? you can easily knock out dailies in like 30 minutes
actually agree on the NX system being ass.. playing TOO MUCH every week since the launch of hyperion, almost the only thing i bought was pet vac juste because the nx sets have been junk and i dont want to gamble 50k on a random perm item..
I've been trying my entire life to get friends to play this game at different points in time, none of them liked playing it.
This is a very good point.
A beginner's NX bundle would be amazing, there's like nothing worth it in the cash shop in heroic, but I'd love to spend some money to get me started as a new player.
the expiring thing is the worst, all my growth potions expired and it pissed me off so much i had to take a break lmao
didn't they give away the Pink bean Vac pet recently?
Things expiring is 100% my biggest issue with this game. Maplestory honestly might be one of my favorite games EVER if not for that, but because of the extreme FOMO in the game...I can only play seasonally. ;
This i think is singlehandedly, the WORST part of maple especially when you consider that just about everything requires RNG.
i promise you that you are definitely not whining when you're simply just asking for qol things that are literally just the standard for all mmos and gachas now, idk how this game is still alive and still has so many archaic systems that people put up with
i want them to bring back the old wedding rings! they can charge me real money for it I don't care!
I returned to MapleStory a month ago after not playing for 15 years. This is what I would change;
I would rather pay 100k nx for that 11 pack if i could choose every single item
probably the most important ms video of all time
hope nexon will watch this
i would kill for permanent pets back, even if they aren’t vac :(
If they fixed the rng system i would be satisfied.
2 years ago i tried to get my girlfriend to play. she made an aran, and got bored and quit during the tutorial scenes (0-20).
Id especially say its not that bad because of the free vacs we get, depending on when you are playing you can have really high free vac uptime (khali release-6th job events had pretty high uptime on free vac, recently weve had a pretty long dry spell on free vac tho)
I feel like sandbox system would be bad/confusing because you have to read through 5 or 6 jobs worth of skills and passives and not neccesarily know what lower job skills you should be using once you are progressed out of the job.
You should level to 299 so that nexon will take you seriously.
Do not search for Eluna Ms on Google. It definitely is not a good private maplestory server
I think they should completely remove the nx gamblilng system (gacha, premium boxes, etc). I would buy more if it know for sure I can get an item I want.
One time purchase for vac pet I'd actually buy one the constant renewal is why I will never buy one. I'll reach end game without it.
i watched my friend swipe to $200+ get his full dino outfit and ended up missing the shoes.
