It’s awesome that most all the good YT knife guys have at least a few videos with bandaids on. 😂 Great video, thanks!
The baby banter is frickin SWEET
Great list. I was expecting a bunch of pricey ones, but lots of affordable ones and good picks. Loved it. Thanks
I could never justify showing ANY knife over $305. That's a hard cap..nothing over that is functionally superior.
I have had a Vosteed Raccoon for about a week and I have been beyond impressed. It’s going to be my main carry for quite a long time.
Nice list. The Ganzo 727S is my go to most days. For $22 I will never feel bad if I damage or lose this knife. I have purchased 3 of these total. One is mine. Another was gifted to a friend who misplaced his Benchmade and I see him carrying it more than his Benchmade that he has since found. And the third was gifted to another friend that lost his daily carry.
I did edc one for a while. It is so thin behind the edge...makes it crazy sharp!
I only see one flaw...the blade is a few millimeters too long! Because of the locking system you have to press the bottom end of the handle deep into the palm of your hand, to close it. While closing it with speed i cut myself a few times...
For me this ruined the fidget fun factor...just my opinion
@@ibanez7412 Wow, I didn't think that is possible. On the other hand (pun unintended) my palms are rather small and skinny so it's not physically possible for me to push the handle so deep in my palm the point would cut it. But now that I tested, the margin is not too big either... Have you considered filing or re-grinding the tip to make it a little shorter?
Nicely done! Inexpensive but not cheap gifts :) I own two of these. I ordered second one when I thought I had lost the EDC one, but I found it soon. Now the second is spare that I can gift to a friend or start using if I actually lose the EDC.
I've had a lot of ganzos over the past decade and I think this is my favorite as well.
Was not expecting some of these choices but i really appreciated/respected your reasoning behind each one!
I had ordered a Civivi Baby Banter before this video came out... sounds like I chose wisely.
Well I have to admit you’ve picked some beautiful knifes , that don’t actually break the bank. At $60 bucks I had to make the drop on the Civivi. The Benchmade 940 in green with the purple strip is truly genius & much more expensive. I never understood the 940 until I held it and played with it., but I fell in love with it.
Just ordered an ST152! Could take a few weeks to arrive but should be worth it. That blade is BEAUTIFUL! Can't wait! Thanks for the heads up!
Very cool lineup. Thanks man!!
My favorite knife? Always it's going to be the most recently acquired. The one I'm in honey moon phase at the moment is a Benchmade 834 new old stock, and I'm loving it! That is, until the next favorite knife comes along! This video now gives me more ideas to look into! Thank you!
Your list looks great!
The nightshade is nice. Cool video thank you
My can’t do without list:
Benchmade 940 (Mini Addams is second)
Spyderco Para 3 (PM2 is second)
Vosteed Raccoon (Updated model)
Kizer Sheepdog mini (OG Sheepdog in second)
Civivi ButtonLock Elementum (Mini Praxis is close)
OKC RAT1 (King of EDC)
Hogue Deka wharncliff (K320A is a flea hair in second)
Kershaw Blur
My first real pocket knife I bought is the Kershaw Chive and by real I mean a knife that was a little bit of a investment at the time in other words no dollar store knives or fake army navy surplus knives. I still have my Chive and it's my gentleman carry going to church knife. The chive fits great in your little fifth pocket and it just disappears. I enjoyed it so much after I bought it that I over used the assisted opening spring and the spring broke into two pieces. The Chive is so light so easy to control that I kept it with the broken spring still in the knife for years cause it worked perfectly fine without the assisted opening spring. But my little Chive will always be one of my little gems that I pull out and Carry in my rotation from time to time
Great concept for a video enjoyed this thank you
I just got my OG scales for my Deka. I frigging loved the heck out of the knife before, but it is astonishing what the aluminum scales do for it. Cannot get over how awesome it is.
Nice list. 👍🍻
This video was so useful and informative that I had to sub. I've watched vids of yours in the past but hadn't subbed because I have too many , but man!!!
Good job bro and thanks for all the work you put in.
Appreciated!
@@maxlvledc Deserved!!
Definitely useful and interesting video! Loved your selection of the Baby Banter from Civivi and it is one I've had my eye on for awhile now. When it comes to Ganzo, because I already have an OKC Rat II, I'd opt for the 753M, which is similar in size to the one you chose, but doesn't look anything like the Rat. Don't need two knives that look that similar. One I hadn't seen before is the Miguron Moyoarl, and that one is going on my wish list right away. Very clean design. Nice stuff!
My first Vosteed was a nightshade as well, I did a series’s of videos for them a while ago and they sent me one as compensation. I loved the thing so damn much I bought a second, I’m refereeing of course to the Original release, M390 and a brass bolster. So glad I have two
I'm recently in love with my Kubey Vagrant. That blade shape just hit my soft spot too much... Really recommend it, tad big as I preffer smaller EDC knifes but still that shape...
We have the same taste in blades, thank you for sharing 🔪🗡️⚔️
I can't wait for my Pyrite XL to arrive!! I was lucky to be online when CJRB posted about it. They sold out in one day!
Yeah. The Kubey Hyde (especially on sale at a WMK for $38) is so much fun! Great pick
Solid choices.
i just finished watching part one and the sitivian video and i saw that this just came out!
the 940 is damn near the perfect knife, I was a big grip / presidio fan until I got mine but it just does everything well and with the s90v blade its an absolute tank.
From civivi I would choose the riffle - as it is my only civivi. 😅 It has that teardrop/leaf blade shape, a thin slicy grind, easy in the pocket, yet comfortable in the hand.
From Puma Tec I would choose the 311712 - for the same reason - albeit it is excellent for its price.
And then there is the Opinel no. 8 with the carbon blade. Or stainless.
Love the Riffle, too bad it's Discontinued 😥
I have few knives on the list.
You can’t go wrong with the baby banter, which is why I have 3 of them. Kubey’s Hyde is probs one of those underrated knives, I think anyway….cause I sure hell enjoy mine, it just works so well. And The pyrite is probs one of the best knives CJRB came out with….and I’m so looking forward for the Pyrite XL. Great list, great video,.
Rat 1 is my daily carry for work. Voyager XL Tanto is my camp knife. Civivi ODD 22 is my show off knife. All great selections
Love the bandaid...just proves doesnt matter how much experience you have with sharp objects. Accidents happen
It was a blister from outside fun...but I massively cut myself a few weeks ago being a dumb ass.
Very interesting, we share some of the same tastes, like the Vosteed nightshade and the Benchmade 940. I tend to make the decision on what to carry every day on what the day may bring but there are the knives I carry every day regardless, and these are small Civivi knives, the Clavi and the Bo. One of these 2 knives is always in my pocket, along with my buck mini tool purchased back in the mid-90s in Japan during a port visit. For the past couple weeks my large knife has been the Spyderco Manix 2XL in CRUWEAR, SHARPEST knife out of the box I've ever purchased. A Knife Center special.
My absolute favorite EDC knife is Civivi thug 2, the open action is so fidgety and the blade is crazy sharp and the Damascus design is so nice. Overall it is the best EDC knife ever made.
Baby Banter, yep.
Nightshade, yep.
940 Osborne, yep.
Hogue Deka, don’t know.
Kubey Momentum would probably be my pick.
Para3 for me.
Have a couple different models of Ganzo Firebird & Sitivien, they’re good ‘down & dirty’ grinder knives.
Nice vid, thanks! 👍
Nice list. Just ordered SRM 9202-GW
An excellent list sir! My current go to EDC folders are the SOG Terminus XR, the Artisan Cutlery Predator, and the Cold Steel Recon 1. Of course, the Recon 1 is my most stout, robust small folder, with the Tri-Ad lock, super-sharp AUS10A Tanto blade, and G10 scales.
Noone asked
I love always getting revealing and descript reviews and suggestions from you. thanks man. Just purchased myself a ZeroFeud pouch, have you tried those? might be a fun review.
I'm spoiled on pouches lols.
Kershaw - Dividend
Spyderco - Caly 3.5
ZT - 0561
Benchmade - Mini Ritter
ESEE - 4
QSP - Penguin
WE - Ferrum Forge Crux
CIVIVI - Cogent
Petrified Fish - Beluga
Boker - Kwaiken
Cold Steel - AD-15
Gerber - Propel
Hogue - Deka
Excellent video.
Thanks. I carry the Ontario Rat1..
What can beat it???
It’s tuff to beat.
My only ganzo is a fh91 and my only sitivien I just got is a st128 because I love the beauty of the blue handles. In got it for $18. Just needed to be sharpened.
I need that pyrite xl and the nightshade
My favorite in my colection:
Sitivien st-133
Ganzo G6252
CJRB Pryrite Titanium
Civivi Elementum (standard)
Kubey Tityus KU322A
Benchmade Bailout 537GY-1
Spyderco Manix 2 110v
Hogue Deka Magnacut
Nice to see some Ganzo and Sitivien love! Love those two budget brands. Another brand I didn’t see mentioned was Sencut. The Sachse and Actium find my pockets often!
Just ordered sache, coming tomorrow
@@maxlvledc look forward to your review!
The Griptilian is an awesome knife!
Strangely, I find myself carrying my cheapest knife every day, even if I have another in my pocket. The Cold Steel Tuff Lite. It's a utility cutting BEAST, and the hollow grind is great for just about everything else. 2nd, The Thunderbird is my jam. The blade shape does EVERYTHING, and the fidget factor is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. Now that the Magpie scales are out, I'm considering selling my red one and picking up a new one.
People hate on the bugout but I carry it every day for work. The lightweight and knife blade shapeand size are hard to beat. Most edc knives don't need to be tanks.
I'm holding out for the larger pyrite. Hopefully It will be available in the new blade shape! That would be epic.
Nice video & interesting list compared to some knife reviewers.
Same with the bugout, either the carbon fiber or titanium scales makes it excellent, especially in s90v…
If you want a Spydiechef but can't afford it, you can get a similar blade shape from CRKT with their Overland. 8Cr13MoV and $55. The closest thing I have to a "best" knife is my Tenacious. I put the S35VN blade into the G10 handles, and it's just great. It's the biggest knife I carry regularly, and every time I use it I'm surprised all over again how much it just works.
Spyderco Ladybug is a phenomenal mini to have with your keys (16 gr, go for the k390) 👍👍
So, I got the Civivi Baby Banter today. Really nice little knife, perfect detent, it allows you to fire that blade right out. First thing I did was adjust the pocket clip, I can just see light under it, and makes it so much easier to get it back into my pocket with one hand. I might shave a little off the C-side scale to access the liner lock a little easier but, I could learn to live with it as is. Also, I might take off the corner at the C-side lanyard hole so that it is not raking the back of my hand when I go into my pocket for something else... I'll give it a day in my work pants to decide. My Dremel wants a piece of it :)
Ooo, your my kind-of person!
I love your videos❤. Could you review upgraded Bibury multitool 22in1. Thanks again.
I thought I did?
@@maxlvledc Indeed. I just saw it. I really appreciate your detailed comparison of clone vs leatherman. Awesome 👍👍
The Civivi Bo keeps surprising me. I think it might have the best flipper ever.
The Nightshade looks like the Cold Steel Colossus
My favorite knife right now. Is the TEMPEST (KUBEY) PINION
Great reasoning. I don't completely agree with the picks, but you make good points. The Deka in magnacut is the bomb. I'm waiting on a bigger bladed magnacut model from Hogue.
Got to get those 60$ aluminum aftermarket scales for my Deka magnacut to complete that knife, but a larger bladed Hogue model in magnacut would be really sweet.
You can also get an extended handle version of the scales! Worth looking at
The bugout is good for what it is, to me 1.8oz for a knife that size is impressive. It's super low profile in the pocket. It's also a great modding platform. But other than that it's pretty unremarkable
Bugout is one of the biggest selling knives of any major maker over the last few years, awesome knife, 940 is still a fav of mine. I refuse to touch a Ganzo, all they do is blatantly rip off other companies designs.
Meh, after 20 years...nothing should be sacred. As long as it's not trying to represent itself as the other brand (aka counterfeit) I'm usually ok to some extent..especially if they upgrade multiple aspects
@@maxlvledc fair enough. Good work on the content.
Man, that spideychef looks like a great EDC. I would choose the Deka from Hogue, and I have! I also replaced the scales but to G10 and it's a huge difference. Excellent aluminum Deka scales and the standoffs are different too
I have the red lava G-10 Deka with the wharncliff blade. Smooth as silk and a completely elevated choice over the BugOut! Better knife, less money.
I also have the Hogue K320 with the tanto blade and walnut inlays. Super smooth action, silk like, and the lock up is amazing! They nailed that crossbar lock for sure Talk about a classic knife, that thing goes perfect with my SiG P320. Chefs kiss!!!
@@D-Man-lv9vu great knife choices, i'll have to check those out!
I really really like the sitiven 124
i have one ganzo 727s cf,very chip and usuable knife in my collection
Interesting choice of knives for sure. Personally low cost budget Chinese knives do absolutely nothing for me but there’s definitely a market for them. Different strokes for different folks
That is one stylin band-aid my friend
IKR?!?! I had hundreds..but the funny ones make me laugh...btw I just realized I'm a marketing genius....custom bandaids..happening
nightshade over everything you showed!!! >>>>>>>>>>>
Great list surprised not to see a para in there 🤔
I'll stick with multi blades in my pocket, and a Buck 110 or Old Timer 6OT or 7OT and a 4blade Scout Knife, or a 5 or 6 layer Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and/or a Multitool on my belt, and a small neck knife.
My current carry is a 3 blade "large" (4 inch closed) stockman, and a Case 62131CV Canoe in my pocket. (both 1095 carbon steel, both have a patina on all the blades. Helps prevent red rust.) A SAK Hercules, and Leatherman Charge+ TTI multitool are on my belt. Neck Knife is a Toferner "Celtic Pocket/Neck knife. (also carbon steel, but with an As Forged finish.)
I also have a Marbles MR592 XL Orange (and Black) G10 Scout Knife clipped to my rollator (I prefer the "American" can opener to the can opener Victorinox uses.) and a carbon steel Mora N°1 in the rollator's tote/sopping bag, if I need a larger fixed blade than the neck knife.
There is no rule or law that says you can only carry one. 😇👍 I have carried more than one every day (yes, that includes school days starting in Kindergarten to College, and Church days. It was legal to carry a knife to school in my day In fact, the students were EXPECTED to have at least one knife on them during school, starting the 1st and second grade. Knives were a tool, not a "weapon" back then. We never had a school stabbing - accidental or intentional - either.) for 63 years and counting.
I prefer multi blade knives because (a) No one blade shape is "ideal" for every task (some are even downright inappropriate for some tasks. A (true) Wharncliffe, Sheep Foot, and lambs foot blade, with a straight edge and ZERO belly, are NOT suitable for peeling a critter, for example.) And, (b) They are less likely to be viewed as a "weapon" when used.
_The best knives don't fold._
My EDC blade ---> Spyderco Street Beat (w micarta handle-discontinued).
A small fighting knife, with a great handle ...
front-pocket carry,, silent, quick-daw sheath pops off with thumb press, stays in pocket; very stealthy, very cool. 😎
The Bugout does feel cheap with the FRN scales, but get it with upgraded CF. Titanium, or even aluminum scales and I think you'll feel different.
Schrade “Divergent” you missed. Proper knife in every way. Design lines are perfect.
There are about 50 companies I've missed lol. I have 2 videos now, more to come.
1. fidgety
2. chef/fruit/veggies
3. self defense
which knife u think is the best for my criteria?
i'm thinking my winner is the nightshade. I like the spyderco chef a lot but it has 0 fidget but feels damn good quality
strangely the Kurkri shape is also good for defense lols. That shilin cutter is so good.
Just got a Gerber folding knife Zilch 7.9cm by OBI..for just 29.6 $ Very light weight for Edc,with a black fiber glass handle..👍Never bored of buying Blades and Watches..😂😁
K now pick 1 to keep from all of them you picked so far lol. My 1 and done folder would easily be my 940-2 with purple g10 scales from flytanium.
Quiet carry drift
Damn, I didn't know they were coming out with a Pyrite XL.
I was hoping it would be a 4" blade but I guess my Kizer Begliegter XL will hold me over
Edit: Tip on the Spydiechef, it's better to use grease on a washer based knife rather than oil. It stays in place and lasts longer and centrifugal force from constantly flicking the knife won't cause it to leak away from the pivot like oil will.
Oo, will do that!
CJRB - feldspar
Civivi - Conspirator
I agree about the 940 Osborne over the bug out that’s a no brainer to me
Why all folders, not one fixed blade?
Great video. The is the length of a knife of each state? The Coast guard reserve is 3 inch. Again , great video. Thank you.
My top 4 MOST used , just to be BRIEF....
BUCK -"110",
KERSHAW "LEEK "
BENCHMADE - "GRIPTILIAN",
BOKER - "URBAN TRAPPER",
Unrelated heads-up: I don’t think you’ve ever reviewed the SOG Kilowatt, and it looks like it may be discontinued. I haven’t been able to confirm this yet, but at least one net reseller lists it as such and out of stock. Would love to see your take on it.
Civivi QC is better than CJRB. I had an issue with my pyrite exclusive and spoke with warehouse manager at KC and he said that they get a fair amount of the pyrites back on return due to button lock and detent locking the blade inward. The employees said that Civivi very rarely has these problems. They swapped it out and the new pyrite was fine. Hopefully Artisans QC improves with the increased demand on their new designs.
PS. Vosteed night shade - mouthwatering 😊
I feel the same way about my bugout with aluminum scales as you do about your deka, and for the exact same reasons. Seems to reason you may be more favorable to the bugout with better scales.
Fair..but the hogue is $135 with magnacut...and the Benchmade is $180 with s30v
Which is crazy
@@maxlvledc Yeah, no one’s a fan of benchmade’s prices, but In the spirit of what your video is about, picking just one knife from each maker, I just wondered if the bugout would fair better in your eyes against the 940 if you were considering a bugout with better scales.
Anyways, appreciate and enjoyed the video. Cheers
13:23 looks like you need to replace that lock bar inseroooooh… that’s rough. I love all my Spyderco knives, but the chef is something I sold off a long time ago. I’d have trouble choosing between the Para3 and the Shaman. But it would be Para3.
I’ve been carrying a Demko AD20.5 clip point in S35VN. I own, and have owned too many knives to count, and the Demko stands tall.
nice bandage :D
Thanks 😅
would u say the kubey is the most fidget here?
hmmmm, I'd say Pyrite..mostly because button locks are so fidget friendly
If you scale swapped the bugout you just might like it. I'm a bigger fan the drop point on the bugout vs the deka.
Still worse than a 940 imo
Also, it's still s30V..which is not a steel I like that much.
You like what you like.
Thanks for the video! I wanted to comment to clarify, not sure if you just misspoke or what, but the Sokoke that you have does not have G10 handles. They are burlap micarta, which is very cool as well!
Ah! There is so much resin, and it's actually listed as G10 on my spec sheet wierdly.
@Maxlvledc That's very interesting. MetalComplex had one to review, and you could see the fibers coming off... very different look. I wonder if this is a QC thing?
Ganzo makes a 940 clone for less than 30 bucks that's really good
7.8 inch EDC Folding Pocket Knife For Men, 3.3 inch Satin Plain Edge Reverse Tanto Blade , Black Grivory Fiberglass Super Lightweight Handle Axis Lock With Belt Clip, Everyday Carry Thumb Studs Manual Open
First i bought the Benchmade 940-1 Osborne in S90V and carbon fiber scales. After i got it, i thought maybe i should have bought the Bugout instead. So i waited and got myself the Bugout 535-3 also in S90V and carbon scales. The Osborne feel’s more solid and premium in every regard..
Good choice!
As far as benchmade and spyderco go I'd take my super freak over my 940 and probably the pm2 would be everyones choice but i actually like the kapara in 20cv
Ok, I went to Blade Show Texas, at the SNKW Booth they have a brand I've never heard of, B,YOND EDC, this knife might be a little big for your taste, BUT you have got to try both versions of the NIGHT HORSE, the premium version has titanium scales, S35VN and is a frame lock, 4.5 " $150. The budget version, same knife with G10 scales, 14C28n blade and is a liner lock, $30, with much debate and because I had already picked up another knife I chose the budget version with ZERO REGRET, here's the thing, they both have the same HYDROLIC like action and both are insanely solid, ARE YOU KIDDING ME, insane quality that is above and B,YOND ANY and I mean ANYTHING, Spyderco, Benchmade ZT, Kershaw, CRKT and GERBER that cost two to three times more in each version. The only two knives i have, the ZT 0462, and the Benchmade Bedlam, of which both have crazy smooth action, hate to say because I have knives from all these brands, these are BETTER. With the materials they have they are MASTERPIECES and are arguably BETTER than probably ANY custom made with the same lock and materials. They don't SLAM SHUT like others do, like I said it's more of a a HYDROLIC action opening and closing, yes you can make it FLY OPEN if you want but using your thumb/your thumbnail you can get it to open slower and it just goes. You just have to try it and that's on both versions, actually the premium model is just a bit better. Yes, you MIGHT find the same action on another knife but not for these prices. I'll get the premium model at some point though. The ABSOLUTE ONLY way to make them any better is with a barrel lock but that would probably raise the price. The handle on both are the exact same just different materials and just MELTS IN YOUR HAND. I promise you won't regret it.
I need to check this out!
@@maxlvledc
You won't regret it , with the budget model like I bought I don't have to worry about the scales getting scratched up like I would with the titanium because I also carry a Leatherman Mutt in the same pocket, the other pocket I carry a Spyderco serrated hook blade with the H1 steel. Plus SMKW IS HAVING A 10 PERCENT OFF SALE RIGHT NOW. HAPPY EASTER
I got a large pyrite prototype and made a vid on my channel, truly an amazing knife with amazing value!
if you had to choose only one. what would it be?
No Kizer?
not in this video, still waiting on my LC200N drop bear.
Dpx hest urban more than enough for me.. No one eyes catching on you.. It's multitools too, come with hex 1/4, wire stripper, bottle opener work as emerson knives auto opening deployment.. work like cham!
Love that one! If I could get an s35vn instead of M390 I'd consider it.
I personally love my Labrador from Vosteed.
Really??? That was my least favorite one funny enough
I stay with the 30$ one
What about demko? Cold steel?
Did cold steel last time, and demko has one folder....soooooo
Hi there. Thnx from Canada. btw - I tried all the links provided and all were "Currently Unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock" except for the Hogue Deka. Maybe cause I'm in Canada but I have never seen this before. Happy Easter! :)
Yep, it's trying to find them on amazon canada
