Hey your the maker of this video right? Ok does temu sale automatic knifes cus it looks like one on the picture you have here is an auto but I looked before saw none was vary vary disappointed please let me no
The knife your holding at 20:00 and you didn’t know what the model is looks like a “Microtech LUDT Gen 3 1135-10 Stonewash Blade, Black Handle Grip Inlay”
Sadly, and I do mean sadly sometimes these fakes are a very high quality. I have a genuine PJ Chris Reeves sebenza large 31 in magnacut in a buddy of mine owns a fake. I'm not sure if it's magna cut but the steel they're using is properly heat treated... To the untrained eye if you didn't know what marks to look for you'd probably never notice... Isn't that insane?!?!? I agree though why couldn't you just go to a knife shop and handle them in person instead of purchasing a bunch of fakes?
I think its cool if the expensive isn't 10x bettter than you know it's not worth it. I mean it's a knive its not a super sophisticated and complex thing for them to charge what they charge. If I can recycle the shit for 30 percent of the price of metal it might make more sense but you won't get a quarter for it
@aczm1988 Well, for being arguably the most well known & respected makers of OTF knives, it sure took 'em long enough to make it to the party. It'd be really cool if what you say is real. Thanks for the reply buddy. Cheers.
My Ultratech is about six months old and has absolutely not a bit of play in it when deployed. I’ve never spent more than $75-$80 on a knife so I straight up wouldn’t use it for anything more than cutting tape on a package for the first 2 months or so. But then I found out that you can send the knife off for service and sharpening, and I also saw the Ultratech torture test video that X-Ring has on his UA-cam… then I realized truly nothing in my day to day routine would EVER destroy this knife. Obviously only owning the one model from one manufacturer my sample size isn’t bountiful lol but surely I didnt get a better product than their other customers at the same time. Edit: This is just me sharing my personal experience with a singular product from a single manufacturer, not a jab at the accuracy of your comment.

@@CharlieMikeNS we've compared it aide by side with my friends edc and the only difference is blade steel , including stripping both down. The hardware is identical, although my blade is sterile. Maybe some folks have gotten lemons but the one I have is rock solid.
I just got my Demko AD20.5 a couple weeks ago, and I love it. Gonna be my daily driver. I got the clip point in D2, which I recommend over the other steel options. As far as blade shape and handle material, just pick what you like.

YES! Your dessert knife is the exact reason I started buying the Microtech clones 😂! Microtech does a horrible job with making enough Halo 6s for knife collectors. And when I received my Halo 6 clone, I was floored with how good the quality is! And 20ish clones later I have too many now 😄. If you need a good Seller recommendation just ask, bc there are some shady ones on there
I owned the full size Benchmade Crooked River, it felt amazing in the hand and was worth every penny (got it on ebay, sent to BM for resharpening and verification of authenticity). Sold it cause I needed the money and also the Benchmade "issues". But as a knife it was really nice.
I have a handful of high quality knives that I actually use but I love to collect clones. It's a great way to get a feel for a knife that you may not otherwise purchase. Some of these clones are pretty decent too. Hifinder or Vespa if you're looking for good microtech clones.
My thoughts were trying out a clone before I dropped the cash to get the real deal to see if its something I even wanted to carry. I am glad there are others like myself.
I don't know why anyone would seriously buy a vespa when you can spend $45 for a high quality knife with logos. Vespa doesn't have logos and it ruins the whole knife imo
The real AD15 is actually a really nice knife. Not as hard to open or use as that clone. AD10 is another great knife and the lock is alot easier than the AD15. I have the AD20 milled Titanium with the full flat grind and clip point. The AD20 Ti is my favorite knife in my collection. I could sell every other knife and be happy with just the AD20. I also have the 4max and it's a beast but is a large knife and almost to big to carry.
Great video. The Microtech OTS clone is of the Microtech LUDT Gen III. I've accidentally purchased clones when I first got into collecting knives and didn't know anything about the hobby. Since then, approaching 400 knives in my collection, I've only purchased one knowing it was a clone, the Eafengrow Strider clone. I also have the Crooked River clone, first knife I bought off of Wish years ago, and probably the only Benchmade I'd ever consider buying.
This is a really cool idea for a video. I, too, like to test out the less-expensive variants of a particular design before I decide if the "real deal" is right for me. It's saved me a fair bit of money to boot. (And sometimes you find some real diamonds for cheap!)
Good stuff, man; sub-button clicked. Been into knives & clones for a good while now, enjoyed seein' the honest reviews & the compare/contrast vs OG stuff.
I have both the fake Osbornes. I don't mind carrying them for everyday tasks so that losing one (which I have for the manual opener) isn't heartbreaking
Interesting video! You explained a lot of the cosmetic differences but you didn't talk about the main and most important difference. It's the quality of the steel. Most of those knives are 8cr or most likely below that. I think it's important to mention it mainly for non knife people who are watching your video. They may think they can save a lot of money just by getting a knock off and it'll be close to the same thing. However the performance will be lacking. That being said, most non-knife people won't care about the quality of the steel. Lol... but I think it should be mentioned anyway. I've also bought a lot of clones to try out, to see if I want the real thing. The bench made full immunity is a nice clone - I ended up giving it to my sister. I'd love to have the real thing but I can't bring myself to spending that much money on a tiny knife.
This is an excellent video my guy! Thanks for doing this. My only small personal gripe is I wish you had a few more fixed blades here but I'm definitely picking up one of those Flyway clones! They are on sale for $13 atm
Gotta love Ali express clones 😂❤ I've got tons of fixed blades from Ali most are quite good for what they are. Definitely worth 10th of the original price 😊 good contant 🎉
Some of the knockoffs are really decent quality, the problem is, you NEVER know what blade steel you're getting.... A good idea would be, avoid anything over $20 and especially avoid knockoff OTF's because of the demanding mechanism quality.... In a knife world where Civivi, Sitivien and Miguron exist though, it's almost pointless buying knockoff knives....
New sub. I picked up a Benchmade Bugout knock off and eyeballing a BK19, ZT and a couple others on aliexpress for the same reasons you tried them. The Bugout had a few obvious tells including every box stating the same color when there were a few different ones, another was it couldn't cut hair and barely made it through paper so they'll get some diamond stone time. I wish there was an easy/cheap way to test and see what steel knives sold on these sites are actually made of since there's no way they're actually some of the more premium ones claimed/marked as. And if you havent figured out the Tek Lok yet, theres a "L" bracket arm in between the two sides you push to release it that creates a jam rod effect and has to be rotated out of the way before the sides can be pressed inwards.
Ironically, the wood on the Crooked River looks smoother than the actual Benchmade; some of the Benchmades with the resin reinforced wood have an issue with "grooves" on the scales. Minor defect, and still great knives.
Here is my two cents on the AD-15. It was head to use the lock, but I got used to it. The action is quite good though, so as long as you get your fingers out of the way you’re good. I disengage the lock with my middle finger and all my other fingers are on the frame of the knife, that works well for me. I does just chew up my finger which I don’t really love, but it’s a cool knife so I don’t care a ton.
I bought a fake bugout with an orange blade from Huaao, i wanted to put a thumb stud on it for some reason n thought i could drill right thru it, but i melted 4 drill bits n some dremel bits. Then i used it to scrape gorilla glue off taracotta pots i glued back together, the edges didnt line up n the blade was scraping on the taracotta n if figured it was finished. To my surprise the blade didnt have a knick in it, it felt the same as new. It says D2 on the blade, n the blade is really thin, but it must have been heat treated really well or something cuz it out performs a lot of my real knives
The orange folder is definitely russian-made. I don't know the name of the company however, I have seen that knife before. The friend that I have that has one says it's actually quite good.
The Automatic Benchmade clone is the Infidel clone.I bought the ad 20.5 tanto in Cpm 3v and i love it. I would check the Flytanium Arcade if you like the shark lock.
I want to try the Temu mini Adamas, with axis lock. I haven’t seen a UA-cam video on it yet so maybe I’ll just buy one. No idea on the quality but it looks really good and the reviews were good
Hungfu is it own brand and they’re pretty good they don’t tell you the steals M390 but really it’s some stainless steel D2 or something. But they make BK 19 also that our copies but have their brand on it.
I wish there were more unbranded/own brand copies of these knives, man. I have bought a couple just to have a few different mechanisms to play with and most are at the very least respectable knives on their own right, but I have seen basically zero chinese brands that aren't just putting out variations on the exact same g10 scale liner lock knife. A couple crossbars, button locks and autos would be well received by those of us who like variety on a budget.
You should've bought some microtech OTFs bc the quality is amazing for $50. I've had around 15 in hand and every one disassembles perfect with almost 0 misfires. My only complaint is that they don't use higher end steel. I would highly recommend buying the Halo 6 bc they're impossible to buy genuine and they will fool most people they are so good
The 940 and 9400 are IDENTICAL in every aspect except one is button lock auto while the other uses the axis lock. The colors, size and weight are identical.
On the Claymore, look at the blade stop pin. The real one has flat sides, where as on the knockckoff, it's smooth. I have both, that's the quickest way for me to tell them apart.
The benchmade Osborne 940 is dark green a cross bar lock and all benchmade logos are etched and have to fit with in a n area. They aren’t ever painted on and that proud of the area bright white!
Very few OTF have zero blade play. Clone or not. The only true zero blade play OTF is the Hawk Deadlock and the new MicroTech Gen 3 models. Other than those, they all will have some blade play.
@@chrisjosekuehl I realize I didn't specify well enough in my comment. You are correct. The MT Gen 3s have very slight blade play. It's the MT Atreus that they are releasing that claims to have zero blade play. But it's yet to be released as of yet. The Hawk Deadlock is zero blade play and is already released.
Ive noticed Benchmade clones are almost just as good as the real thing specifically Bugouts. 😂. Especially when you consider how cheap the clones are. Edit: Get the blade hq exclusive. Grey textured g10 and 20cv for $119. Absolute best Demko deal.
Definitely agree the BHQ 20cv exclusive Demko is your best option. I got one in Ultem and other than it being ground off center, which was admittedly disappointing, it's still rock solid in every other way. The one auto was a fake Microtech LUDT.
SMKW Kabar exclusive was all black. with no extra markings ..... the knock off is D2 , the 1095 Kabar uses is soft at 58hrc ... your going to like the knock off better than the original.
The best deal on Amazon for Demko is the Shark Cub G10 or Aluminum. DO NOT buy the grivory versions, Blade HQ still has their ultem/20cv AD20.5 slicer on sale for $139.
Demko Shark Cub in Titanium and 20CV for $200 is amazing. Perfect little EDC I carry everywhere. The lock is one of the best Ive ever used. On par with the compression lock and fidget friendly. For $350 you could get the Demko 20.5 in titanium as well. I love the Shark Foot blade the best due to the thumbhole deployment and sheepfoot blade.
Well, you might be disappointed with otf’s in general then because they all have a little bit of blade play, even the legit Microtec’s. It’s just a consequence of the design. The only one I’m aware of with absolutely no blade play is the Deadlock, and it’s called that because it was specifically designed to not have any blade play, but it’s also quite pricey.
Ka-Bar may be the real deal. They are making some knives in China, and they do offer it in black. I got a becker harpoon from temu and it is absolutely the real deal. Its rare but some of the name brand knives that are made in Taiwan/china do show up on temu cheap.
@@appalachianknifereviews the black model was a smoky mountain knife works exclusive model. I have one that I ordered from them, do not know if they make it anymore.
I bet the claymore has side to side blade play, and i bet if you try to tighten it, or remove the pivot screw, it's gonna spin and you wont be able to hold the other side to loosen it. Just a hunch 😊
Any chance you have a link to that Dessert Warrior? (I stumbled upon your channel, so this is the first video I’ve seen, and I don’t know which video you previously showed that knife in, so I don’t know if you’ve linked it before.)
That fixed blade you threw in the bad pile is easy to open! There is a u shaped lock between the two parts ya squeeze that you flick back! C’mon man you a better knife guy than that I would hope having a channel and all! It is the same as a With Armour fixed blade kydex sheath!
@druidic4353 are you taking about the Chinese, yeah, they also make we knives and others, but counterfeit knives are not even those quality, and again the only people arguing for counterfeit quality are people that don't know steel and heat treat, and actual quality, I got scanned a Spyderco knives on eBay once, looked almost identical to the real thing, but it wasn't and I knew it instantly, everything about it was cheap, and weak, and the steel was garbage and I don't think they even heat treated it, but you guys keep arguing that counterfeit knives are quality, those that know the real knives will tell you they are not
I have a friend in the knife industry and he told me that the Benchmade Bugout is made in china now. He said that a Chinese company makes all the parts and they etch and stamp the blades in the states. He has a few Benchmades from china and done strength tests on them as well as the genuine Benchmade Bugouts. He said that they are identical in terms of lock, edge retention and usability. The sell genuine Benchmade knives shipped from the US and the knives work exactly the same and can handle the same tests and last. I am not sure as Benchmade say that all their knives are made in the USA, but the results speak for themselves.
Your buddy is not in the industry and your buddy is buying fakes. Benchmade, I'm going to tell you right now that none of them are made in China. Post a video and show us what you're talking about otherwise stop spreading completely untrue information. Benchmade deserves to be taken down a peg but not like this
I got the same crooked river clone from temu. The scales did not sit flush on the liner. Took it apart to fix it, the scales were perfectly flat, but the liner was very soft steel and very easy to bend with fingers. It also has a decent amount of blade play unless I tighten it enough to remove the action completely. Would love to find out what the blade steel really is, as it is definitely better than any of my old 420hc stuff, but nowhere near as good as any modern premiums.
The huang fu square looking knife is a knock off of a inexpensive brand of knives that are good quality. Their most expensive knife is around 60 bucks cheapest 10 but it is a copy. The name escapes me.
I did the same 😂😂just so i will know if i like it and spend the money for a real one. I pretty much bought almost all of what you bought. My favorite fake one i got is the full immunity 😂😊
Detent ball is possibly in the wrong place. Microtech prices are very high. I have an OTF in titanium that is 2 years old now and was $600! I wonder if you know about ulti clips. They sell on Amazon and are the real deal and I swap out most Kydex clips in multi clips and they stay in your pocket and are easy to pull out but if it’s closed onto your pocket you will pull just the knife and the sheath stays put
The carbon fiber bugout has a few tells. The butterfly is way too dark, the trademark symbol is too big and the alignment is incorrect. The grind is also off slightly but that’s harder to spot. Other major tell is the blue on the thumb studs and back spacer is much lighter than the genuine bug. The real one has a darker almost cobalt blue shade.
I mean the difference in 100% of them regardless of action, weight, tolerances is simply the steel 100% isn’t what’s branded it’s probably just all melted down pot metal the d2 stuff might be real d2 but again the heat treats won’t be done properly if at all. So if you’re going to get one to just view the action like with the AD15 to get a feel then that’s about all the fake knives provide really imo
Clones are a zesty subject 100%! On the one hand I feel that under no circumstances should someone purchase a cloned knife, it's stealing from the person who designed it as well as whoever produced and marketed that item. And then I also think that as long as it's not sold as the real thing then maybe it's not too big a deal? I wonder if the people screaming that Clones knives are just as bad as Hitler(I exaggerate but some people get really mad) have ever downloaded music of movies/tv series they didn't pay for? I'm pretty sure most of us are guilty of that at some point lol. If I was forced to pick a side Im gonna go with don't buy clones, save up and get the real thing. One more thing, if a company is shady enough to steal a licensed design can you really trust them to be honest about the materials used in their products?! Is that really even D2?! Lol Sorry for the long ass comment, I really enjoyed the video.
You bring up a good point about the steal and I agree. Someone else asked why i don't talk about the steel and I told them because I have no idea what it really is.

The civivi vision fg uses the same style lock and imo has much better blade geometry and feels much better in hand.
Thank you for making this video. It was much appreciated!
@@ksowderful you are welcome.
I want to try the Temu mini Adamas, with axis lock. I haven’t seen a UA-cam video on it yet so maybe I’ll just buy one.
No idea on the quality but it looks really good and the reviews were good
I have one. Video up here on the channel.
Hey if this is up your alley, Demko is releasing a budget shark cub sometime in August at the 75 bucks range for Aus10a
@@jarofaar8618 ill have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
The orange russian knife is indeed russian. Its a noks mongoose, the noks knives are actually really good. Check out the rest of their range.
Love knife videos like this. I got plenty of great knives. I want videos on the alternative
I would highly recommend buying the Halo 6 bc they're impossible to buy genuine and they will fool most people they are so good
there are a couple in this video.
Really informative video--thanks!
Is the problem with the demko only the sharpness ? How smooth and quick to open and close is it ? And is the shark lock smoothe?
@tolkner8852 I don't feel like it's smooth at all in my opinion. Feels clunky. I've had enough people ask I'll make a video of just it soon.
@@appalachianknifereviews thanks 🙏 a video will be very nice 🙂
The smaller "Microtech" is probably trying to be the UTX85. And the larger sprinkle one is the Ultratech.
Thank you.
The Micro tech is the LUDT
3:24 that bench made logo is Hilarious!!!
The 940 and 9400 are IDENTICAL in every aspect except one is button lock auto while the other uses the axis lock. The colors, size and weight are identical.
The orange bench made Kydex sheath on the benchmade is vacuum fitted whereas the other is just heated. Demco AD 20.5
On the Claymore, look at the blade stop pin. The real one has flat sides, where as on the knockckoff, it's smooth. I have both, that's the quickest way for me to tell them apart.
Thank you. Only thing I had noticed was the missing red button for "fire" or rather off safe.
The legit Carbon Bugout has a slightly darker blue paint thats ever so slightly mettalic looking other than that i cannot tell the dofference AT ALL
The benchmade Osborne 940 is dark green a cross bar lock and all benchmade logos are etched and have to fit with in a n area.
They aren’t ever painted on and that proud of the area bright white!
I have the real dessert Warrior Microtech, and it is amazing. Love the video!!!
Very few OTF have zero blade play. Clone or not. The only true zero blade play OTF is the Hawk Deadlock and the new MicroTech Gen 3 models. Other than those, they all will have some blade play.
The Gen 3’s still have a tiny bit of play, at least the ones we got in the shop. We got the Hera 2’s small
Thank you for telling me that. I have yet to buy my first real one and wasn't aware.
I own a few Benchmade OTFs and they all have blade play. Especially the shootout.
Yeah it’s not all the gen 3 Microtechs, it’s supposed to be on the new ultra tech gen 3s that come out this month sometime.
I will look into that one. Thank you.
I just ordered the Keyshawn blur knock off. “Blur knife.” It’s to replace the one I had to toss at the carnival entrance 😢
The belt clip you were having trouble with has a secondary safety that you need to flip down before you squeeze the sides to unlatch.
Almost every OTF wiggles like that bro. I am kinda like you..... I prefer side opening autos
On the Kershaw Iridium, the pivot screws are exactly the same, just need to flip one or the other lol. One is just backwards from the other one 😅
If you want a great value for an OTF with very minimal play, get the Maxace Neptune for $108
SMKW Kabar exclusive was all black. with no extra markings ..... the knock off is D2 , the 1095 Kabar uses is soft at 58hrc ... your going to like the knock off better than the original.
Those ad-20 titanium jufule clones are fantastic! I have one and i think it is surprisingly well made. I couldn’t suggest it enough!
Seconded. It made me feel stupid for buying a 20.5.
Sorry for all the comments. That launch linerlock is hilarious!! I'd like to trade you something for it
You want that goofy Kershaw? 🤣
I do... total clown knife haha. Fake button on a launch with liner lock... hahaha
Get the MSI with the plastic scales and you can upgrade them for not a lot of money
Understood. I can see how the design has some blade play. That one "Benchmade" is a bit ridiculous though. The Microtechs are much better.
Size-wise i think the serated microtec is a utx 85 just with funky scales
The little otf is a microtech utx 85, n the donut n sprinkles is a ultratech
Thank you.
Ka-Bar may be the real deal. They are making some knives in China, and they do offer it in black. I got a becker harpoon from temu and it is absolutely the real deal. Its rare but some of the name brand knives that are made in Taiwan/china do show up on temu cheap.
I looked and looked and could not find the Bk19 in black. Well, not that I think of it I was only searching Amazon.
@@appalachianknifereviews the black model was a smoky mountain knife works exclusive model. I have one that I ordered from them, do not know if they make it anymore.
That orange and black bench made looks just like the bk esee kA bar super nice. I think they’re only like 50 bucks. It might be called the Escobar?
I bet the claymore has side to side blade play, and i bet if you try to tighten it, or remove the pivot screw, it's gonna spin and you wont be able to hold the other side to loosen it. Just a hunch 😊
I have some of these knives. I even made a few videos of them
Pick up the Miller Brothers knives they’re like $900 and they got the fake ones for like 60 to 80 and those things look cool as shit
On the fake bugouts, the metal grip bumps by the pivot stick out noticeably more than a real one
Good video, ya got my subscribe dude 😎
thank you
The orange russian liner lock is a hokc mongoose. They are designed by Aleksander Biryukov in russia then made in china and shipped back to russia.
Are they worth a damn?
@@appalachianknifereviews Some of their other knives like the avatar, cougar and finnish-s are very nice i dont know very much about the mongoose.
I have a couple of clones like the victorinox classic SD, Super Tinker, Buck 110, and the microtech combat troodon before I get the real ones
Any chance you have a link to that Dessert Warrior? (I stumbled upon your channel, so this is the first video I’ve seen, and I don’t know which video you previously showed that knife in, so I don’t know if you’ve linked it before.)
Sadly temu when accessed from Australia won't show and folding or fixed blade knives, kind of jealous that you can access and review these😊
The one you asked which microtech it is it’s not. It’s the OKC lightning elite. It’s only like $35
That fixed blade you threw in the bad pile is easy to open! There is a u shaped lock between the two parts ya squeeze that you flick back! C’mon man you a better knife guy than that I would hope having a channel and all! It is the same as a With Armour fixed blade kydex sheath!
I could tell the launch was fake very quickly as well as the carbon fiber bugout. The rest look legit from a distance.
Looks like a coil spring is missing on that Kershaw launch which can be common for Chinese knockoffs parts missing etc
@@SwitchbladeWadesEDC it's not just a spring missing. It's not even a functioning button.
@@appalachianknifereviews lol they got your ass
@SwitchbladeWadesEDC nah. They refunded the total amount and told me to keep the knife.
I have a few very good ones from temu
No you don't, the only little that day that are people that know nothing about steel and heat treat, people who don't actually know quality
@druidic4353 who are you taking about?, the guy said he bought them from temu,
@druidic4353 are you taking about the Chinese, yeah, they also make we knives and others, but counterfeit knives are not even those quality, and again the only people arguing for counterfeit quality are people that don't know steel and heat treat, and actual quality, I got scanned a Spyderco knives on eBay once, looked almost identical to the real thing, but it wasn't and I knew it instantly, everything about it was cheap, and weak, and the steel was garbage and I don't think they even heat treated it, but you guys keep arguing that counterfeit knives are quality, those that know the real knives will tell you they are not
I think the real benchmade claymore has aluminum scales, not plastic. I have a fake one n it worked really well, for a while... Then fell apart
ha ha. We buy once, cry once. Except with real benchmade we cry every time we think about what we paid for them.
The benchmade bugout is not made in China and never has been clones have but that’s it
@@emmettcutterYou’d like to think so
@@rainbowstalkerthe2nd587 no I know they aren’t I’m a manager at the biggest knife store in Oklahoma
I haven't taken mine apart but every looks like it lines up. I will take a better look at it.
@@Johnny9ers it's an awesome little knife. I wish it was just a tiny bit bigger.
I look at these all the time lol
I wish I could start just looking and quit buying. lol
just subscribed brotha i also test temu knives lmao
Detent ball is possibly in the wrong place. Microtech prices are very high. I have an OTF in titanium that is 2 years old now and was $600! I wonder if you know about ulti clips. They sell on Amazon and are the real deal and I swap out most Kydex clips in multi clips and they stay in your pocket and are easy to pull out but if it’s closed onto your pocket you will pull just the knife and the sheath stays put
Where did you find the clone Kershaw livewire?
That first otf doesn’t even look like any benchmade I’ve ever seen.
I thought the same thing when I bought it.
Demko clones seem to be very good
I believe it would be a Microtech Mini Halo. The blade is all wrong through.
I have noticed colors tend to give them away.
Lol
Sorry for the long ass comment, I really enjoyed the video.
You bring up a good point about the steal and I agree. Someone else asked why i don't talk about the steel and I told them because I have no idea what it really is.
A lot of it is D2 regardless of markings. Most is heat treated poorly. I get my ad20.5 scary sharp though. One of my favorite knives and only 30$!!!!
Good video! Where did you get that mat with different blade shapes on it?? 👍🏽😃🤔
It's a Mouse pad by Knafs. I bought it on Amazon. amzn.to/3Ll1dPx
I believe thats a bottle opener not an emerson wave but not 100 percent.
