    Sometimes something will happen, words, a video, or pictures, that brings a flood of thoughts and memories. Figs, and Mother’s Day did it for me. The lesson on composition was great. I always need to push myself to make a plan and stop painting 1 flower and saying I’ll finish it later. I did like making an outline on another piece of paper so I have an idea before I start. Have a wonderful, Happy Mother’s Day.

    Oh my goodness I am so glad I found this video. I am somebody who needs a goal to work toward in art. This is why I do photorealism with most of what I do. This is perfect! I am Sicilian and so this in my dining room is the ideal piece of artwork I have been looking for for that area. Now to the practicing and accomplishing it LOL 😂.

    Good morning! I just finished watching this tutorial and I want to thank you for helping me find my joy again. I'm a beginner who attempts advanced techniques and then frustrates herself when something goes awry. 🙃 When that happens I go back to researching how to rework the issue. I enjoy that so much because I end up tripping over tutorials like yours and thank you for loving watercolor so much that it shows in all you do. I went on a quest to watch as many as I could. I LOVE your Large, Bold, exciting paintings You make it look so easy and I LOVE your figs and little green doohickeys!! I also went and looked up "Tulipina", uh, she is a reference I will definitely tuck away, she's amazing too! So, today I will use that joy to play large!! Thank you, Kristy. 🦄(magic)

    Happy Mother's Day, Kristy! You're hilarious 😂! Love this! Thanks for sharing and being so open about painting!!! After only painting a year, I have taken time off - about 8 months! Some reasons were health issues... and idk... I'm going to just try swatching in my Color Diary. I struggle with adding more detail than I should, stopping has always been my weak point. I am trying to get more impressionistic so I can be less detailed and more feel of a subject. Hi, I would like to ask why do you use white acrylic gouache instead of white gouache? You say in the video that one needs to be careful not to mix acrylic with watercolour on a palette and it cannot be rewetted again once it is dry therefore I don't understand why don't just use gouache that can be mixed with watercolour and rewetted again with no problem? I'm asking because I'm just an enthusiast of gouache and from my point of view it is quite puzzling why to use acrylic in this case. What are the benefits? Is it only because you want shiny finish to your work of art? Best regards, Agnieszka.

    Actually I'm curious about something. Why would one paint to the edges of the paper? If one ended up liking it enough to frame, one would end up covering part of the painting with the mat. (As you can tell I'm really a beginner!)

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  Рік тому +1

      It’s a good question but it’s always been my understanding that a floating composition that doesn’t have some element(s) touching edges isn’t as visually pleasing. The only time I don’t paint to the edge is when I’m designing for a pattern to be created from the piece

    I'm fairly new to watercolor, and I'm stuck on paint to water ratio. When you are using pan paints, how do you know how much paint you have since you have to add water just to activate it and move some to the palette?
