Sometimes something will happen, words, a video, or pictures, that brings a flood of thoughts and memories. Figs, and Mother’s Day did it for me. The lesson on composition was great. I always need to push myself to make a plan and stop painting 1 flower and saying I’ll finish it later. I did like making an outline on another piece of paper so I have an idea before I start. Have a wonderful, Happy Mother’s Day.
Wonderful!!
I love the colors❤❤❤
Thank you!!
Awesome....thank for sharing.......prefered and loved your commentary too...without music. Super !.
I love how vibrant it is! ❤❤❤
So beautiful- have tried this twice now! Would love more tutorials for this style, pretty please? ❤
Kristy I love this piece!! The figs, intence colors, the berries and leaves. Gorgeous!! Also those beauty flowers white and pink.
Love,Love, Love Thank you so much for this!
You’re very welcome!!
I could probably say this about a lot of your videos. Brilliant. Thank you. 1 of my favorite videos. Helps me so much. Learned a lot. Love you, your channel, and your videos.
❤.
You're very welcome!
i’m a senior citizen! i started exploring watercolor when i retired… im learning so much from you! im a loose watercolor style… please show more of this painting
Fascinating instruction Kristy; thank you for triggering a couple of creative ideas in my own art. You are a 💎.
Thank you so much!
Oh my goodness I am so glad I found this video. I am somebody who needs a goal to work toward in art. This is why I do photorealism with most of what I do. This is perfect! I am Sicilian and so this in my dining room is the ideal piece of artwork I have been looking for for that area. Now to the practicing and accomplishing it LOL 😂.
You are so talented and inspiring that tears flow down my cheeks when you share your gift!
Oh my gosh thank you!!!
Good morning! I just finished watching this tutorial and I want to thank you for helping me find my joy again. I'm a beginner who attempts advanced techniques and then frustrates herself when something goes awry. 🙃 When that happens I go back to researching how to rework the issue. I enjoy that so much because I end up tripping over tutorials like yours and thank you for loving watercolor so much that it shows in all you do. I went on a quest to watch as many as I could. I LOVE your Large, Bold, exciting paintings You make it look so easy and I LOVE your figs and little green doohickeys!! I also went and looked up "Tulipina", uh, she is a reference I will definitely tuck away, she's amazing too! So, today I will use that joy to play large!! Thank you, Kristy. 🦄(magic)
I ❤ your vibrant use of color!
Thank you!
So beautiful Kristy. Thank you ❤
I love the colors, and I love the intensity of the colors!
Me too!
Thank you! My brush set and beginner paints are ordered! In the mean time I'm practicing with what I have. Feeling the Joy and trying to gain courage.
You got this!
This painting looks beautiful! The composition is brilliant and there's something so satisfying about the colour palette. I don't have time to paint a full piece like this, but I'm looking forward to creating a smaller version. Thank you for making this tutorial!
Yes absolutely a smaller version!
Love your brush strokes something I am working on.
Thanks!!
I’ve been learning watercolors for a little over a year. Im not going to lie, when I first watched your videos last year I thought your style was crazy and very different. After watching other youtube watercolorists I got seriously BORED. I started watching your videos again and boy oh boy I love your style! It’s so refreshing and your paints so different and beautiful. Thank you so much. Pls do more tutorials!
Best comment everrrr! Welcome back!
I could use some ideas for subjects. I painted flowers for years and will use your ideas to have fun with that, but take us beyond the complicated figs, please. I have lost my mojo and want it back! You are a big help. Thank you for your ideas, talent, and acceptance.
I learned so much from this video, thank you, and Happy Mother's Day, Kristy!
Thank you!!
Girl…your nails. Love ‘em.
Aww thanks!!
Thank you Kristy,so inspiring. I will give it a go.
Alllright!!!
This was very enjoyable to watch! I love the point about resting every little while. (Good for people with dry eyes, too).
Yes!
This is one of your best. Wow! Thanks.
Oh gosh really? Thanks!!
Kristy, thank you so much for this gift of a video! I have learned so much from watching it and I know I'll learn much more as I try to recreate what you've done here. It's a beautiful composition and I really appreciate you sharing. I've learned more from you in my painting journey than any of the other watercolor teachers on UA-cam. Thank you, I appreciate you!
My goodness wow!!
Fabulous video! Totally love this one and your fabulous teaching and guidance. Many thanks!
You are welcome!!
Thank you. So much
Of course!!
It seems so easy breezy when you do it!! 😅 I will definitely try this. Thanks a lot!! ❤
Please try! It’s fun to even make a mess trying this technique!
Love love love this! Thank you
This video has got me back into watercolor painting. I put it on the back burner for a long time for the same reasons you got bored with it too. This is like a breath of fresh air!
Wonderful!!
Me encanta sus pinturas traducción español mexicano MUCHAS GRACIAS
Loving this piece! Beautiful! 🙏🏻✝️❤️🎨
Thanks!!!
I was hoping you would do a video of this piece! I just love this one so much! ❤ Can't wait to try these techniques. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and style!
You’re very welcome!!
Kristy Girl, this artwork is absolutely beautiful! I recently purchased your joy for paint set and brushes, water bottle, tiny scissors, ceramic 5pot set. The watercolor paints are the best I personally have ever used. I also purchased the mungyo paint set you recommended which I did swatches on. I’m learning so much from you. I so appreciate all that you bring to us who are on a watercolor journey. Your the best!♥️♥️🙏
Will be watching this one more than once for sure! Lots of great advice. Thank you! The colors, movement, and those details are eye candy 🤩
Yay!!
Love the video. Tried my version - this is the first large painting and I would visit the painting during the process. An 'aha' 💡 moment for beginners- when I became unsure 🤔 of what to do next I would take a photo. It amazes me to see how it clarifies the 'big picture'. Thank you for your generous spirit of sharing your talent ❤
Taking a photo is a great idea!
This is appreciated! I need to get my paints out and play! Thank you ❤❤❤
Literally the most underrated channel on YT! So helpful, so easy to follow, very engaging... like just.. damn! Thank you ♡
Ummm wow and thank you!!!
Beautiful👍

What a deliciously beautiful painting!!!! Thoroughly enjoyed this superb demo - thank you Kristy for open new horizons for me!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are simply the best!
Thanks!! Now Tina Turner is stuck in my head!
This is gorgeous!! Love it! Can't wait to try it! Thanks for sharing it with us. Your art is amazing ❤❤❤
Yay!! Hope you have fun!!
🎉🎉🎉 I have to say I am definitely team replay I just became aware that I could hit notifications😮😮😮. Well anyway, I downloaded this episode for future use. That seems like an oxymoron being the fact that it's on UA-cam. But I can tell you this truly inspiring😊😊😊
This is beyond beautiful. Have watched this so many times!! Love this piece so much 💜
Aww thank you!
This is way beyond my own level yet SO exciting to watch just for joy's sake😀
😘😘
Love love love this piece!! ❤
I just love this piece. I really like the boldness of your style.
Thank you!!
This is gorgeous!!
Thank you!
Very interesting to watch. Will try very soon
It’s really very doable just more layers :) Also you could go smaller than I did too!
Happy Mother's Day, Kristy! You're hilarious 😂! Love this! Thanks for sharing and being so open about painting!!! After only painting a year, I have taken time off - about 8 months! Some reasons were health issues... and idk... I'm going to just try swatching in my Color Diary. Maybe seeing the beauty of watercolor coming to life on paper, may open that side of my brain to paint again! Still watching all my artists... enjoy watching you create with so much enthusiasm! With love from a California Gramma ❤️
Absolutely just get color on the page. It will work wonders xo
Thanks 😊... will try that! No plan... just watercolor to paper... God bless you!
What a lively style! A little scary, almost 😅
You are great. Thank you from Brasil ❤
Aww thanks!! Hope you give this a try!!
I love this painting.and the way you explain everything just . Thats what sets you apart from all the others thank you so much.amazing ❤
Appreciate you!
❤️❤️❤️
😘😘
Hullo Kristy, a truly lovely painting and wonderful instruction for sharing of your techniques! Very well done! I struggle with adding more detail than I should, stopping has always been my weak point. I am trying to get more impressionistic so I can be less detailed and more feel of a subject. I do enjoy listening to your instructions and I have even purchased a set of your brushes. Thank you. Please take care, be safe and enjoy your day!
You are incredible. Always anticipating your next video. This is beautiful 🎈🤪🌹
Thank you!!!
This is really really beautiful!!
My style of painting is completely different from your, but the brush strokes and a few different techniques you mentioned are really really interesting. Thank you for sharing this. :)
Love your videos. They are so inspiring and make me feel so creative.
Ahhh love hearing this!!
You are so talented❤
Appreciate you!!
So you ever use reference pictures? I have no idea how figs grow on a tree or the leaf shape! 😅
Sometimes but very loosely! The composition was built from my imagination.
Wow. I love it
Hi Kristy, New subscriber here, over from Sarah Rene Clark. So glad she has introduced me to your channel. Your work is incredible, I'm definitely wanting to pick up watercolour again- it's been a long while, and now thanks to you both, I don't feel as nervous about it as I did xx
So glad you’re here!!
Very helpful...thank you
Glad it was helpful!
love this!!!!!
Please do more tutorials like this ?
I love your personality!! And of course your channel… And I love that pencil/pen whatever that is. Where can I find it? 🤍
i enjoyed that thank you
Hi, I would like to ask why do you use white acrylic gouache instead of white gouache? You say in the video that one needs to be careful not to mix acrylic with watercolour on a palette and it cannot be rewetted again once it is dry therefore I don't understand why don't just use gouache that can be mixed with watercolour and rewetted again with no problem? I'm asking because I'm just an enthusiast of gouache and from my point of view it is quite puzzling why to use acrylic in this case. What are the benefits? Is it only because you want shiny finish to your work of art? Best regards, Agnieszka.
More opacity… more coverage :)
Hi Kristy, I just found your UA-cam channel and I absolutely love it! I’ve been wanting to try painting with a dagger brush, which one of your brush sets do you recommend getting first? I saw two different options on Amazon. Thanks!
Actually I'm curious about something. Why would one paint to the edges of the paper? If one ended up liking it enough to frame, one would end up covering part of the painting with the mat. (As you can tell I'm really a beginner!)
It’s a good question but it’s always been my understanding that a floating composition that doesn’t have some element(s) touching edges isn’t as visually pleasing. The only time I don’t paint to the edge is when I’m designing for a pattern to be created from the piece
@@KristyRice That makes sense!
How do you frame it then?
Delicious ❤
Thank you 😋
I'm fairly new to watercolor, and I'm stuck on paint to water ratio. When you are using pan paints, how do you know how much paint you have since you have to add water just to activate it and move some to the palette?
Hey lovely. Do you sell this print please? So beautiful and joyful.
Not at the moment, but stay tuned!
Boop🎉
Thanks!!!
Why white acrylic instead of bleed proof white? (Dr PH Martin)
I sometimes want the extra opacity and coverage of acrylic :) It also picks up the color underneath a lot less than bleed proof white.
Mine would prob turn into a abstract.
Or it might not! Go for it!!
How did you make that colour
Which color?
😢 I cannot find the video she refers to about how to add greenery and other stuff. 😢
