No rabbit hole here with over 10 pieces. No purchases planned, no ogling new releases or vintage icons since August. Today, the JLC Reverso "Shadow" sword hands (no seconds hand) manual wind with dark grey dial and Arabic numerals and brown ostrich strap and JLC deployant on the wrist. Still sporty, but much more classy. Wears like a 37 mm. The one for December dinners (Christmas, New Year, and all dinners or parties in December). Then it goes back to the bank for a year.
I always scoffed at the ‘one and done’, the GADA watch, even the concept of a 3, 5 or even a 7 watch collection! I’ve got about 15 and each one has that special event/weather/outfit/mood where it’s just right. What a crazy addiction!
I love both. I don't consider the Panerai a dive watch, but it does have the heritage of one. The Sub is 10x more versatile, but the Panerai has a vibe that no other watch gets close to. It's a big friendly happy watch! The Sub takes itself very seriously!

Lusting over the submariner but just wondering whether the submariner will be left unworn like the datejust...have you found yourself reaching out for the Panerai more than the Sub?

Hi Mark, this is Jack from the UK. I did warn you at the start that yes the Submariner is an amazing wrist watch but you will eventually want to wear your other watches. I have been through this whole experience from thinking there was something wrong with me to now accepting we are watch nuts! who love watching videos and other content on watches and always trying to work out our next purchase. I have realised that I can only wear one watch for 3 months before I want to wear another watch! Does not matter how expensive your watch is the novelty will eventually wear off before you long to try on another watch even from the less expensive brands like Seiko. Keep up the great videos.

100%. I’ve given up on the 1 watch collection. Instead, I’m going for the too 10 collection and then replacing as needed. Best thing is, you can always buy them back….and I have lol. Great vid as usual. I appreciate your casual content. 😎👍🏼
Great video and I totally agree. I got my Sub 124060 this year as well, but I like wearing different watches every day. That's why I stopped wearing an Apple watch...I wanted variety. I still wear the Sub a couple of times a week, but swap it out for a Tudor, GS, Sinn, Seikos, etc. depending upon how I feel at the start of each day. Glad to hear you're pacing yourself. I have work, home, going out, weekend and holiday watches so always wearing different ones. Waited a while for Tudor to make a titanium GMT for my holidays, so stoked about that purchase at the mo. Now what straps.....
After picking up my 124060 last year from the same AD on queen street I wore it diligently for 6 weeks until the start of 2024. In 2024 it’s been my least worn piece not because I have fallen out of love, it is in fact my most favourite piece but just like you I wanted to wear other pieces. This year I had a new found addiction for micro brands and am really enjoying their unique take on designs so far. 2025 I am visiting Japan and plan on popping my Grand Seiko cherry.
Received my Sub 124060 in late June. I’ve struggled to get wrist time for my other watches. The Sub is absolutely perfect for me and my lifestyle. I thought it would just be part of my collection and now I’m considering making it my only watch.
It’s easy to get through life with one watch for an extended period of time, it merely takes a high level of discipline. I purchased an Omega Seamaster in 1995 for the princely sum of £895GBP, last week I called time on it. I shall now look forward to a new purchase and start over again!👍😎

Way too funny! I feel your “pain”! And I appreciate your honesty, there is no such thing as “this will be the last watch I buy”! I get an itchy wrist after about 2 weeks with the same one on my wrist. I committed to wearing my GS GMT for the whole of December but I walk past my watch box everyday and I know I won’t make it! Enjoy the Sub though, it is my grail too.

I tried something similar recently but the other way round…I promised myself i would wear each of my watches for at least a week to ensure I kept up the appreciation of them…..but instead I just kept going back to the big three (2 omegas and a Tudor) 😆 and I cure my ills with g shocks. Easy to buy, easy to sell on and helps the fix without breaking the bank.
At the start of this year I got the Santos de Cartier medium blue dial.As it only gets worn when I can be mindful its there still enjoying it.I have eight other mechanical pieces including the BB58 that was available in Spain almost on release.Concluded I had enough for any occasion so have enjoyed just upgrading to bespoke straps.Nothing this year has troubled my wallet as prices now out of hand.All the best and "variety the spice of life".
Are there any communities or meet ups for Auckland watch enthusiasts? I always feel a little guilty walking into The Hour Glass or Partridge and having the associate talk their talk while I know I'm just there to look. For now, I can live vicariously through channels like these :) One day I hope to afford the Black Bay 54

Hi Mark I totally agree with your video it doesn't stop with one grail watch. I took your advice and picked up my grail watch recently (gollum's watch) and now have the opposite problem because I need an extra link to wear it as I have very big wrists.can you believe I've ordered a extra link with my Rolex ad and he's told me it could take up to five months as Rolex doesn't have any in the UK and as is a new model has special sleeves in the links so will only send in batches. how's that for customer service? (So I've made my cave and stared to get into raw fish because all I can do is look at my precious 🤣😂) Great video thanks John 👍.
OMG John you got a Gold Deepsea! Many many congratulations! I literally just recorded a video on that watch this weekend which will drop on Tuesday. I remember when I tried it on I thought it was pretty much perfectly sized and I thought that somebody with a larger wrist would need extra links. 5 months though! Luckily, as you say, you can just fawn over it in your cave. I think for that money, Rolex should be making you a couple of links specially and flying them out to you by DHL special delivery. I mean that!
@TheRandomWatchDude hi Mark thanks for your reply this watch is unbelievably good yes it's heavier than normal but that's part of the attraction of this watch. this is a special occasion watch (weddings birthdays weekends away meals out with friends) this is not going to the pub watch.the criticism this watch gets about going diving and using this is a commercial divers watch is just ridiculous.as a collector and watch enthusiast I'm interested and fascinated that's Rolex have technically managed to build a watch like this and it's stunning and very comfortable to wear (if i had an extra link). thanks mark your videos and advice made a big difference in chasing down this watch I really appreciate it thanks John.
Love my omega seamaster300 been wearing it nearly five years does not miss a beat I don't get fed up of wearing it before this watch i had my planet ocean nine years on my wrist I own other models these are my favourites we are all individuals it's what makes the world go round
For over 15 years my Omega Constellation was my only watch. I then got a Seamaster (Peter Bake hands) to go surfing with. I also have a submariner and an Explorer 40. I have no interest in getting any further watches although I do like the new sea master 300 no date. If the no date seamaster had come out 6 months earlier I would have turned the submariner down.
Honesty is not always the best policy. 😜. I would have just said 3 months is up I am now wearing other watches. Then gone and confessed your sins with your local church. Then go down to the local AD and purchase a new watch.

Sir, you are extremely spoiled, and that's the only reason that you became bored of wearing Submariner every day. Most of us can only dream of owning one of your watches, let alone the whole collection. The Omega Sword hands, Tudor FXD? Just those two are my grail watches! I own only one mechanical watch, the beautiful Seiko SPB053, I purchased it back in March of 2022, and I can't take my eyes off that watch. As soon as I come home from work, I have to put it on my wrist and ocesonally glance at the beautiful Seiko case, dial, and most beautiful bezel insert I have ever seen. And yes, Seiko makes some of the amazing watches. (If only they would make more accurate movements)

I do have a one and done watch, my two tone, Rolex Datejust 36 with fluted motif dial. GADA 😊

I wear my Seiko Turtle with orange dial daily despite owning a submariner 124060, datejust and omega seamster professional.
