It seems that the GoSingChoir version of Madonna’s 'Like a Prayer' unintentionally went viral - BIG TIME. Hello to everyone joining us from TikTok and Instagram lately! 👋 Here’s what happened: A snippet from this video was uploaded to TikTok, claiming that we are a “Church Choir” blissfully unaware of the song’s sexual undertones. The result? Absolute madness: Thousands of videos worldwide, tens of millions of views, and uncountable comments mocking this supposed “church choir”😲 Fun fact: GO SING CHOIR is literally the opposite! We’re a secular, open pop choir where EVERYONE is welcome - no matter who you are, where you’re from, or how you live. Singing, celebrating, and connecting people is what we’re all about. Of course we were aware of the double meanings in Madonna’s iconic song, which stirred controversy already 35 years ago. And by the way: the alleged „church“ is called „Gasteig“ - one of Europes largest cultural centers. So, what’s next? Let’s embrace this unexpected and absurd wave of attention with humor and use it as an opportunity to unite even more people through the joy of singing - hopefully a small step toward bridging societal divides 🎶 ❤ 👉🏼 Want to help set the record straight? You can like this comment, share the video, subscribe to our channels, or simply spread the word. Much appreciated 🙏🏽 And for anyone curious about the real GO SING CHOIR experience: Our Xmas Tour in Germany kicks off soon! Come join us - and yes, we might sing „Like a Prayer“ again 😉 With love and laughter, GO SING CHOIR ❤
Madonna is a very spiritual person, and while she probably loves joking around with lyrics, the song and video itself clearly are meaningful to her. The sex excuse is often used by madonna critics to reduce her and her art to sex and no substance, which is very unfair and untrue.
Nothing says "Christmas" like singing a song about giving "hawk-tuah" with 500 of your closest friends, BUT damn though! They really did an amazing job!
Well we had a fun time singing it on our Christmas special 2 years ago - fully aware of the meaning. As we’re neither Christian nor in a church we can sing about doing stuff on our knees as much as we like, even on Christmas (maybe even in the midnight hour…)

My friend hadn't wanted to go because he assumed that it was a religious service, just because it was a choir! It took quite a bit to convince him that there is absolutely nothing religious about their events apart from some self-deprecating jokes about the choir leader's Jewish heritage! He couldn't comprehend that a group of people could get together and sing without it being in any way religious!

@@kwebb121765 Yeah, but this is the one that went viral on TikTok in recent days, and people (especially Christians) thought it was their duty to come here, lecture, and harass everyone after being deceived by TikTokers. Its actually funny becuase the entire purpose of the song was to be purposefully ambiguous. Madonna said in an interview the original song was written about a girl so in love with God, she only wanted to be with God. She then rewrote the song to purposely be ambiguous that you get from it what ever you bring to it. There is no verse that is specifically sexual, that was literally her goal. If you listen bringing the innocent love of God it is a totally innocent song, if you bring a sexualized mind it's a sexual song. The meaning is wholely up to the listener, which for me was the icing on the cake of all the people bashing it when they thought that it was a church choir singing it.
