I love the four tops played in France! I loved they played in Cleveland Ohio, in the mid 80's at the lake front! The best time of my life, I got to shake Levis and Dukes hand on the stage !
Levi Stubbs and the Tops.... NOTHING like them in this day, these AMAZING, talented men did every song with passion, purpose, and fulfilled thier Destinies. Amen. Thank you for sharing this.
Duke, Obie, Lawrence and Levi make up one of the greatest singing groups of all time - The Four Tops! Ironically, Reach Out, I'll Be There shocked the group when it became a million seller back in 1966!
This is as good as it gets! Pure from the heart! Now a days songs are sung around killing and being gangster bad boys with no respect for anything that's civil and right.
I loved Levi Stubbs! Just Ask the Lonely then Reach Out for Me and I hoped he would ! I. I was 12 but I Did love him. He was Great! Motown was the best and WZZK was my favorite FM radio station. Daddy said we could have a TV or a Very Cool Stereo (am/fm receiver, LP 33-1/3 LP with adapter for 45’s and SIX speakers) in a beautiful walnut floor cabinet! 1 12” woofer, 8” tweeter and 4” midrange in each speaker with one on each side of cabinet! We loved our stereo and Daddy played the Sax when he was younger but we caught him & Mother rocking to Benny Goodman or Julie London sometimes! Music & dancing was My thing and Motown was my favorite! Dionne Warwick, James Brown Nina Simone & Al Hurt were awesome but Levi Stubbs was My Man! He truly had heart & soul in his music. I miss him but I have my memories!
Greatest era for music.. in the same style Otis Redding sang just like Levi Stubbs like there live depended on it in a fast tempo with great moves and the most authentic sound. Music for me will never ever get better and won’t be as long as they produce everything to polished and lifeless tunes.
Yes he is a gracious gentleman God Bless you Duke, & I do hope so much there is a movie about the four tops, would be the greatest movie of the Century & Michael B Jordan to play Levi & Jamie Foxx to play Obie Benson can you think of who would be best to play Duke& Lawrence.......Dee. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙋♀️🙋♀️👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
I couldn't agree with you more, not only was Levi the greatest lead singer ever, he was the best, & when you have the best you can't get any better than that. He had the voice of an Angel,, he was a world class act, He was a world class gentleman, all four of them were world class gentleman, & had a God gifted talent, but I had heard some time ago while listening to Duke being interviewed, that he was thinking of a possibility of a movie, if this is true, then my pick of an actor to play Levi, would be Michael B Jordan & Jamie Foxx to play Obie Benson, I'm trying to think who would best play Duke & Lawrence, but if anyone out there who knows Duke, please bring this to his attention, I have loved & listened to the four tops for more than 60 years, Ripin peace Levi, Obie, & Lawrence...... a true fan.❤❤❤❤🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤Dee
Just amazing the intensity they put into this performance ! If you don't understand the words they say (which was possibly the case of this audience...) you can feel they're about to eat you alive when it's in fact all about universal love and the hardcore desire to bring hope to everyone.
These guys were phenomenal. They had more talent in their little finger than anyone today. It’s a shame the younger generation doesn’t know about these guys. Snoop who? Lol
Lead singer Levi Stubbs (Baritone) (R.I.P.) -------- Background Vocals: Left to right Renaldo “Obie” Benson (Bass) (R.I.P.) Abdul “Duke” Fakir (First Tenor) Lawrence Payton (Second Tenor) (R.I.P.)
just waoh.. especially the drum 1:16... "(ღ˘ ⌣ ˘ღ)" and if a guy sing like him, same voice 100% perfection in 2021, I will enchain him to my life forever and I'll be there !
There is another performance of reach out from the same program but is a different performance. Just wondering what that was about? But the more performances there are the merrier.
The vocals by Levi awesome as usual with this performance. But the band is trash. This is not the Motown house band the funk bros. Who was the band on most Motown hits of this era.. The funk Bros were the motown sound. Very distinctive sound..
Levi Stubbs made a entire career simply singing his ass off! No voice has ever had more Soul than Levi Stubbs😎 may you rest in peace my brother!
In my opinion, Levi Stubbs was Motown's Otis Redding. These two had *SOUL*
Don't forget David ruffin
@@falanajerido875oh now we definitely can’t forget David
Somebody hand that man a towel! Man alive, imagine being in that audience! I also love their suits. Pure class and talent, all the way around.
What type of world we could have if his soul could reach us all.. absolutely amazing 🫡🕺
What a voice Levi Stubbs had.
True Fact
Uniquely his own, when Levi sang you knew it was him!
Yes❤
Indeed!
As the man said..Levi Stubbs was no joke..Period!!!
I love the four tops played in France! I loved they played in Cleveland Ohio, in the mid 80's at the lake front! The best time of my life, I got to shake Levis and Dukes hand on the stage !
How have only 18 people commented in 4 years. Such a great live performance, no video, lights, just talent!
Abdul 'Duke' is still alive..
Busy vibbin 😂
Good Lord. Such talent. ❤❤
This makes me feel connected in a disconnected world
Love the passion that they put into the song/performance

You get what you pay for, with the Four Tops. Levi with his multi emotional vocals. And boy, can't they work the crowd.
That was actually ROCKING!!
Duke, Obie, Lawrence and Levi make up one of the greatest singing groups of all time - The Four Tops! Ironically, Reach Out, I'll Be There shocked the group when it became a million seller back in 1966!

That drum wall behind them.

Work out, Levi ! the 'Tops got it !!
Love this song ♥️♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟
Minute 1:50 shows how into this Levi was.
Abdul "Duke" Fakir is the only one left - we must cherish him.
Yes ,Duke is very precious to us. He's indeed keeper of castle in keeping Four Tops legacy alive.
And now he’s gone…..RIP

Even back those days it was wrong to wipe your sweat with a towel Four Tops were too classy for that hats off to those Brothers!
Just amazing the intensity they put into this performance !

The best you would think obie was the leader with his energy
These guys were phenomenal. They had more talent in their little finger than anyone today. It’s a shame the younger generation doesn’t know about these guys. Snoop who? Lol
Levi..they're all fabulous.!! Muso's in those days worked for their money!
I wish they did Bernadette at his show. I don’t think they’d recorded it yet. My favorite ‘Tops song. I’m all about the drama, in music.
I don't know if there is a better performance of this anywhere
Wow!!!
Saw them 4 years after this at a cinema in Southampton England. 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Levi Stubbs was a bad man!
Even better in real life!!
He’s drenched like he just went a few rounds in the Kronk gym. Just tremendous
Two drummers! Wow! 😀👍
No three dummers!
Three actually. What a workout those drummers had.
Go livi

Why sang so fast???
Why is the sound so bad in this?
❤

not sure...one might be 1966 and this one is from 1967.
