Lumix new firmware - Autofocus performance for Third Party Lens

Yes! Love the test, you're easily one of the best creators using the S5ii. I'm super interested in picking up the Sigma 18-35 for my S5ii and would love to see more real world tests with the new autofocus firmware.

There has been test done between native lens and third party. Result show that the S lens work better then the third party lens. The S lens are made more for filming an sigma lens is made more for photos.

​@@orinorio1 Sure, I own the S lenses in 35, 50, and 85. They're amazing lenses. But when I need to switch between 4k60 and 4k24/30, I prefer not having to deal with a crop that changes the FOV of what I'm capturing.
The Sigma 18-35 seems like the best APSC available lens in terms of sharpness and image character. I don't need lightning fast AF but just reliable AF.

Sigma lenses even from other mounts are still first party on L mount when you use the sigma adapter.

The S mount lens are better for filming and Sigma is better for Photos. Results shows that the native lens work a little better then the third party lens. Also the differnet AF modes help.

Absolutely, but for people that can't afford to buy new Lumix lens at the moment and already has some other lens laying around it's good news, I though that it would not work at all, and even tho it's not perfect it really surprised me

That used to be case but any more, maybe if you are comparing to the autofocus from sony or canon it is still not there, but for us that use lumix to go from no reliable autofocus at all to what the s5ii and s5iix has now is amazing 🤓
