Oh yeah!!! Lets get it
So many good UA-camrs in the chat
Yea am
Joogsquad you're wanted in Hawaii lol
Ateria Kuop is he really😂😂
Nalu Frias Yes they are
Am I the only one that holds their breath as Ryan starts to dive down and hangout on the bottom to see if you could even hold your breath that long ? And fail time and time again lol😂 anyways great video like always!
and then on top of that imagine your having to swim and fight a fish up!
No Viz Spearfishing right ? Such a legend, I’ll stick to my 20ft and under waters lol
Absolutely... It's how I practice packing and expanding my capacity.
I love your videos keep them coming
The key for longer holds is to release a bit of air every 10-20 seconds, CO2 is what causes you to stop early not Oxygen deprivation.
Man I have fallen in love with spearfishing since I got to the islands. I love your videos and learn so much from you! Keep'm coming brotha!!!🤙🏼
Pls never stop living this humble - I think this lifestyle is what provides happiness
For the jaw mount:
Don’t do the ant thing. Tried that several times when I was spearing in Guam. Only made a mess. Wrap the head in aluminum foil. Throw it on the grill after your done cooking, or in the oven at around 350F for about 45min. Using the Grill will keep the smell outside. Pull it out and set it aside till it’s cooled just enough to handle carefully with your dive gloves on. Take the aluminum foil off, Most of the flesh will melt off as you do this. You can typically just reach in and pull the jaws out, picking the rest of the flesh off by hand. use an old toothbrush and toothpicks for what little stuff remains. Once clean, Soak the jaws in hydrogen peroxide. the higher the percent on the bottle, the shorter the time. Leaving em soaking too long will erode them and make them brittle or cause them to delaminate. Just right gets a bleach white effect. Set them with crazy glue gel. Paint them with a clear or white water based acrylic to give em a protective finish.
Have you tried boiling the head? I heard the grill or oven tends to cook the bones which is not what you want right? Mahalo
Ben Schlesier haven’t had trouble overcooking the bones - but I suppose it’s possible, especially if the coals are still white hot. Tried boiling it with a friend on his catch with a gas camping stove and a big aluminum pot outside. We figured it wouldn’t smell nearly as bad that way. Was exactly the opposite for some reason (and left more flesh on the bone). His neighbors won’t ever let him live it down.
Gordon Salgado Hey! About how long did you soak the bones in hydrogen peroxide? A few days or so? Thanks!
I really appreciate seeing your dive time on this video. While I'm nowhere near 2:45, it gives me (and probably plenty of others) a frame of reference and something to strive for.
Yessssah hammer haole coming out the water with a monster
Such an awesome video. The take-off from the big uku is mental. Keep up the great content, and love hearing all your techniques !!
Man I just watched this after midnight and now craving it so bad I can't sleep
Gotta get out there!
Love the feeling when you turn around and the big one is just lookin at you
I love how simple your life seems to be. No fancy car or house but yet you seem to enjoy life so much without all the bling!!!
Epic Uku Ryan! Congratulations! Excellent dive and hunt to catch that 20lb fish!
Such an epic dive and the sikkest bottom time views like usual. Yeeeeeeee Ryan!!!! Holy crap that Uku is Gigan-tor.
Ryan & Sam - I love that video, you guys just keep getting better and better! Ryan fantastic diving and tutorials! When you strung that Uku, I yelled YES!!! my kids were like "play it again daddy!" Keep the videos coming bra! Every time I see you posted one I get stoked!
Happy to hear you're trying to use the whole fish! Defiantly miss some good meat and its always good not to waste.
Whoa Ryan you rock! As always, I enjoy your presentations, keep it coming!
What an absolute unit of an uku!
Yeah Rayaaaaan! Monster uku bro!! Great job on that hunt! Love the whole cook part too, although I don’t know if I would put so many flavors on uku... it’s just so delicious on its own! Still awesome job Sam, I like the batter save, lol again great video!!!!
OMG 😳 Yessah!! Right on Braddah Ryan ....Solid!!
!!!!!!!! That uku was insanneeee good job brah
Freaking sweet vid! Always in awe at your freediving/hunting skills. Love tuning in to Ryan and Sam, power couple adventures
Wow that uku is legend!
Easy going vid with solid commentary brah love to see em!
Hey Ryan awesome video, I would like to know the reasoning of adding Hawaiian salt when icing your fish over night, thanks!
Another great and inexpensive way to commemorate an epic catch is gyotaku.
Buying diving equipment is expensive
Sick video as always🔥 I was wondering how you got your creek cooler to Hawaii? It says it can’t be shipped to Hawaii.
You can make fish stock with the head and then be able to take the jaw bones at the same time when the meat falls off
Boil it’s head for the jaw, pick the meat off and take the jaw apart keeping it in order as best as possible. Bleach overnight. Next day assemble it. I use layers of napkins and superglue. Good luck! Awesome catch brother. Love the channel!
The napkins are to join the jaw where the joints usually are. Superglue and it’ll blend in with the bone color, you can’t even tell. Use the brush superglue. Hope this helps bro
Great video from a spearfishing perspective (as always) and fun to watch all the rest :) Keep it going Ryan! >
Man... that hunt was AMAZING!!! what a animal!!!
Aweh! Great content and solid knowledge! Well done Ryan! Moose Uku that
Thanks Jason I was stoked!!
@@RyanMyersExpeditions Stoke is what makes the world go around...not money.. Aweh!

I never thought of honey walnut fish. u guys is real creative. I love it.
Another epic catch! That Uku was a dinosaur! Awesome catch and cook! Keep um coming! Still waiting to see Sam’O’Grams PB Ulua? 😝
🤙Aloha
I love your stuff man I’m starting to get into spear fishing a lot more because of watching your videos keep up the good work
Hey Ryan congratulations on your PB, well deserved with that dive!
I'm loving your videos Ryan. You're inspiring me to put the rods down and get in the water. Curious to know what your thoughts on ikejime are and if you think that makes much of a difference to preserving your catch?
Unreal video!! I got a newbie question. How do you know how much to push yourself on your breathe holds being that deep? Basically when do you know when it’s time to surface?
Amazes me the amount of stuff they do before they eat the fish, here in the caribbean we just clean fillet and package out the meat and thats that .Never used towels to dry or ever fine tuned cutting the blocks and it never affected the meat quality
Nice video as always one piece of advice when your cleaning your fish much sure you don’t touch the fish with the same hand you held on to them but as always thanks for the constant content you give
Great vid ryan You gotta do the uku jaw the next trophy uku you get
keep doing what you are doing youll blow up one day my guy, thanks for the tips with the bahamas and overall the content you put out, I drastically improved with your tips and tricks I recently just reacched one of my big goals 2 minute dive (2:12) because of you man just continue what you do, btw watched all the adds i possibly can, just tryna help out. ;)
Hi bro your video super 👍 😀 . your shot at the big fish is incredible. thank you for the video !
No problem thanks so much for watching!
I was waiting for this moment you shoot a 20# uku, that was textbook book hunting skills, good job bah, you made me cringe seeing that uku bent in that cooler, that’s one thing we don’t do and that’s bend a fish, your meat starts to fall apart..... other that sick vid keep it coming🤙🏽
Freakin awesome🤙🏽congrats on a monster catch!!🙌🏽
Another awesome video!! Always looking forward to watch your video’s
Right on Ryan. Nice uku.
Over 4K views an hour, Yeew nice brutha Mahalos for the content!! And we got joogsquad up in here pawgs!!!!
Amazing clip and a beautiful placement shot! Yeah you🤙🏾
Ryan u are a legend bro, best spearo ever. I can't wait to come back to Hawaii, but next time to Big island for spear not for surfing in Oahu.
Huge congrats on the huge uku. Can’t wait to get one of my own. Diving next week?
Can we switch jobs for a while? It’s really hard coming home from work and seeing your amazing adventures. Lol. I need to go Spearfishing and have my own adventure. Kona is on my list of places to go in the near future. Great video and what an amazing fish you got!
Such an amazing video!! Made me so hungry!!
Thanks Kyle!
Yessah u guys awesome!!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾 looks mayjah 🔥🔥 honey walnut uku must try
Ryan das record I tink 😂🤙🏽🤙🏽nice one braddah
Duuuude that recipe is gonna stick with me thanks for that!
Nice catch for the day sir Ryan
Love and like your videos👏👏👏👏👏
Scaling and Uku isn’t even that bad. Ever had to scale a Uhu... oh my
Bra uhu is the easiest 😂
Brah try scaling one popa'a its like pulling teeth at the dentist
Wow Ryan... just insane! I got my first uku today and I was stoked even tho it was only 4lbs😂😂
That was a great dive and epic fish.... well done
Try a drizzle of fresh lilikoi juice (through a little strainer) and black Hawaiian salt across your uku sashimi. It'll blow your mind and break da mouth.
Whoa I goin try dat, mahalo🌺
Such a cool video man, love to see more uhu dive bomb videos!
Collars are the best part of the fish🔥🤙🏾
Yeah you Ryan learning from da locals, no show da spots😂
That’s insane! And nice haircut!🤣
yessa sick vdeo keep em coming
Very impressive. You've talked about the training you did, e.g., for spearfishing competitions in the Mediterranean, but I'm assuming you started out with unusual natural breath holding ability, right?
Well done bro - what a hunt!
Yessah Ryan 🤙🏽 Love the videos legend
A good way to get the jaws out is to get it cut down to where it’s a little bit of meat left and the put it on an ant pile and let them eat of all the remaining meat
stick a beater from a mixer into a cordless drill and use it to scale fish
Keep up the good work🔥🔥
I just wanted to let you know when using that Chinese Dry Mustard, you have to mix it with some water first. After mixing together it should be like a paste. Usually that is mixed with Soy Sause and eaten with different Chinese food.
After it paste up sticky in the bowl, turn the bowl over on the countertop for approximately 3 minutes. Don’t worry if it’s the right stick consistency it won’t run. What this does it peppers it up hot, hotter. Aloha-
I love the recipes at the end 😍👌
Collars are the best part.
Nice one. Need to upgrade to fish bags!
Ryan, I found that a great way to fillet fish, is to use an electric carving knife. You wouldn't believe how easy & fast it makes the job.
Frickin great info! Good job guys!
Awesomeness again!
Nice uku that’s a monster
Excellent catch congrats ryan 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Thanks!!!
Congrats Ryan!
Came across you channel today . Have watched like 10 videos already ! I’m becoming more comfortable in the water, still fear the thought of sharks man. Any tips ? My end goal is to be spear fishing 🎣
you ever cut the cheeks out and eat them, here in Alaska cutting halibut cheeks are a staple.
Grouper cheeks here in FL are a staple and my second favorite only to hogfish!
Very nice dive and shot!
waouh, insane uku ! here in tahiti, we call this fish utu. good job
Eh, sounds the same but wait we’re related Hawaiians and Tahitians 🌺
Hey Ryan just curious.. what do you do with the muzzle heads from your rollers? Isn’t the wahoo and black carbon rob Allen’s originally equipped with the normal two banded muzzle?
Make a vid on how to pull the bands for people who struggle on it
Use the bone carcass for soup! Fry em first to get full flavor from it! Very nice catch!
Yes soup like the Filipino do. Boil up some water add: ginger; garlic; tomatoes; leaf onions, salt pepper to taste and let it boil till tomatoes soft add fish with some leafy Ong Choi (swamp cabbage) Call me up so I can taste. Eat with sticky rice. Hmmmmgood.
If you feel adventurous add some Mama Sita tamarind powder (siningang). It makes the soup deliciously sour. My father’s recipe-
@@vp3970 WOW that sounds GREAT brah!!!
Remember me when your famous!
Im in the caribbean n i see alot of the fish you get in hawaii
Hi man! Cool video, here from Spain. We never bryne the fish here. Why exactly do you do it and what is the proportion of salt that you use? Is it just the larger fish or do you do it in smaller ones as well? Thank you!!
Also I wanted to ask you about the overnight brime? What is that for?
Very nice work!
Thanks Adam!
Sick video
Can you do a tide pool video where you look for creatures to put in your tank
“Only 40 feet of water” dude, 30 ish is my deepest, I don’t think I have the breath to go down another 10😂
Awesome vid..... 👍
Wish had variety like that on Oahu that close to shore.
Woaaa, what's the name of that slick fish with the blue and yellow stripe? So sick
