This is the earliest star wars, set before everything else. Still the tech is exactly the same as what we see in the Rey saga. Holograms still are blue and flicker. Planets are undeveloped but have buildings in the middle of nowhere with power. Star Wars is in a universe frozen in time. The ships are the same, the clothes are the same... The boredom is the same.

Lore question for Lorn that I didn't think of last night --- Master Sol told Mae to "take the wheel" meaning take over controlling their ship. I don't remember seeing or reading that in Star Wars before. Star Trek of course has a helm on their ships since Mr Sulu is the helmsman.
I thought the episode was great. But I’m a bit confused as to why Qimir isn’t actively hunting down Sol instead of taking a bath.

There *is* a reason why Smilo-Ren stole Osha away: he wanted an acolyte and Mae, that feckless traitorous so-and-so, just didn't cut it anymore.
I grant it's difficult to see that reason by Smilo's actions. I don't even think Smilo develops this motivation until after the fight is completed, even though the logical point for him to have finally decided that Mae was a lost cause was just after she told him she's selling him out to the Jedi. Smilo had already seen that Mae was incapable and of nor value, hence no great loss to him, so there'd be nothing to restrain him from immediately protecting himself by killing her. Smilo letting Mae string him up in that tree was useless additional humiliation. I'm surprised she survived past that wide spot in the trail!
But since he *does* let that happen, and lets her hide out in the Wookiee-hut besides, one presumes there's still a point to him keeping Mae alive ... but no, the next time they're together, right after his one-man Jedi-stomp, he makes a vigorous and flashy effort to destroy her quickly. So Smilo is just ... stupid? Mentally "slowed"? Nuts? Oh, lord, does Smilo Ren have *feelings* for *Mae* ?! Whatever ridiculous craziness the plot or the screenwriters imply by waiting so long, it certainly muddies Smilo's motivations here.
Anyhow, I don't think he thinks about Osha as a new acolyte before Smilo's one-entrant Jedi-eating contest. There's no recruiting pitch delivered to Osha. He doesn't take it any easier on her than anyone else when they're fighting. It's almost as if his knowledge of her existence as both as a spare for Mae and as a Jedi lurked in the back of his head before the fight, then he was reminded of it by her performance during the fight, and finally his observations and background knowledge went "click!" as he passed her unconscious body on the trail. He then picked her up almost as an "impulse buy" at the local used-Jedi shop as a replacement for Mae.
(Am I totally off-base here? I feel like I'm working harder than the writers when I try to decode the characters' motivations through the inconsistent action. I'm always afraid they're going spoil any conclusions I draw by ignoring historical background, or by contradicting their own story. Gaah!)
I figured out why _The Acolyte_ is a mystery: the character motivations are a complete mystery!

I thought when someone "cuts themselves off from the Force" it's more like not accessing and using the Force in any way. Culture Casino the shaved wookie 😂 Yas Jonas in a wookie costume talking like Morgan Freeman the entire time while Lorn reads the Acolyte subtitles in a dramatic fashion 😁😂 I also agree with Trent where they could've made the Sith Who Laughs ( SmiloRen) be like a horror movie where he's behind the scenes appearing on a shadow murdering Jedi and instilling fear in the Jedi order even have the helmet be something that's boh intimidating yet also mocking his enemies mostly the Jedi. I would've showed he just uses the force and his Cortosis gauntlets and helmet against the Jedi until he encounters a large group of Jedi like maybe a army of them then he uses what seemingly is just a red lightsaber then at some point it becomes a double blades lightsaber as well as the Cortosis gauntlets and helmet and the force then after he is seemingly killed or is actually killed you can have either the Jedi cover up he's a Sith or not realize he's a Sith.

Star Wars needs a total five year creative hiatus. Then, decanonize all Disney Star Wars (maybe keep some elements of Mandalorian), and recast the original characters with a new Star Wars run, perhaps adapting the EU stories.

Jonas you are over egging this. While this is close to infantile writing the motivation is clear. Sith wants to turn other twin to the dark side as he has lost the other sister, he is trying to seduce her, semi literally, to the dark side so he has a clear motive to taking her to the unnamed planet. While other sister is going to learn the dark side of the Jedi but make a connection with Sal on a personal level. Now all of this is Laughingly badly written and I am afraid acted, though possible not their fault. One undoubted problem is pacing with a feeling this is a four episode story dragged out to eight.
