- My first time at Fish Fry
As soon as I walked into the place I noticed how Spotless clean is chippy was, Sam the owner greeted me old me it was okay to film.
I ordered fish chips and mushy peas. I could’ve eaten them in as there is some tables inside however I decided to eat it in my car. The Fish was outstanding so full of flavour thin batter but crunchy, the chips were cooked but just looked a little bit anaemic for me.

That pale colour on the chips is good Gregg, it means it’s fresh oil! The darker the colour the older the oil!

We had this when the place first opened Greg and it was epic, we both said it was the nicest fish we have had in a long time. Recently we ordered and the chips were not cooked properly, really disappointed.
Just needs abit more colour on the chips and they would have got a 9
Looked really good, you should check out the Canal side cafe in Dukinfield, the smash burgers are amazing.
Thanks Annmarie I’ll definitely look into it.👍

Never really seen them in Derbyshire, but when I went to whitby they called them scratchings ❤😋😍
Yeah I’ve heard of them called that before Johnny 👍
Scraps. Although you’d not get many scraps off that smooth batter.
The chippy near my house when I was a kid used to call them scraps, however the chippy day school used to call them fish bits. I like you say smooth but now you don’t get many.👍
@@Stockybloke Seems rare that chip shops offer them now. They would probably look at you gone out if you asked for them in some shops I reckon.
@@fishandchipdiaries one of them told me they aren’t allowed to sell them anymore.🤷♂️

Ours did at first but when they became popular, they charged. 😡
If the chips are light in colour, then the fat they are cooked in is fresh. Nowt wrong with that!
I understand stand that however 90% of people like colour in them.

Thanks John 👍👍
Scraps

Scraps
Yeah a few people have come up with that one, I have 9 different ones now.🤣
It’s a bit like bread rolls having lots of different names. When I was a kid growing up in Lancashire the local chippys all called them scraps.
