I'd love to see a comparison with studded snow tires
Try this with a Lexus GX or LX with a full time 4wd transfer case and a V8. You’ll probably like it even more.
Brakes maybe the weak point on the LX.
Center diff may be a liability on this course.
Those vehicles also have lower ground clearance
My 4th gen was absolutely fantastic in AWD/high range on snow. Center diff was noticeably better to drive unlocked, reduced understeer significantly, predictable, fun, and comfortable driving 45-50 on some MN snow covered dirt roads. Honestly fantastic
Was looking all over for a video where someone really sends/drifts a 4runner, thanks for that
So nice to see you back Wyatt. You make this channel great.
Thanks Mike!
@@thewyattknox we love you for sure
Can confirm! We used a 4Runner for sweep at ESPR one year. Not only did it drive great, we also fit 6 people and a lost Evo bumper inside for the drive back to service! 🤣
I have both an Evo9 and a 4runner
@@Patrick5 Interesting flex but also really cool
Im going to bet the hard brakes were due to the fuse being pulled that powers the electric boosted master cylinder.
My GXs went out and it's borderline impossible to stop on road. Used handbrake a lot to limp home..
THIS is the vehicle this ch needed for so long!! Pumped!
would love to see an fj cruiser, it’s a beast offroad
4th Gen Tacomas will have a fully boxed frame so it would be interesting to get your feedback once those are out. I think that TRD Pro Runner on studded tires would be an absolute riot out there.
If they threw Manual transmissions in these I'd take it over the Tacoma.
If you can track down a manual fj cruiser that’s the closest you’ll get
Next gen 4runner will probably come with manual as the new tacoma has one
Thats why 3rd gen is best gen baby
@@Kill4Time255I really doubt it
I think everybody would Bro 👀😅👌
Imagine if they made a 6 speed Diesel 4Runner like a Hilux...talking bout my dreams 😂
Keep 'em coming! Still waiting for that 2024 impreza "Will it rally" segment.
Man’s having fun in the snow with that truck.
Love it! I’d love to see you rally the Outback Wilderness in the snow!
Fantastic tips. Always seems to come just in time too.
very nice upload :) thank you.
I love these videos so much
Thank you, I've been waiting for this video!
Please get it back with some winter tires (studless or studded) and again in the Summer
Dude thank you guys so much!!! I just commented on another vid asking for this vid man hell yea!!!!
You are welcome!
Very to cool to see more UA-cam channels from NH getting attention!
I'd love to see a Golf R doing this...
... but I don't want to donate mine to the cause 🤣
A range rover, or any land rover product would be awesome to see!! Maybe a defender
Or an Ineos Grenadier
That is so much fun to watch. Wish I was close by to attend to one of the classes and learn how to drive properly.. As for the tires I was surprised the factory Nittos not have 3peak rating. Hence I sold them when new and got myself tires with 3PMSF rating. I didn't want to go full snow tires as temperature fluctuated ALOT here in Denver CO. For example couple of days back its 70F and today max is 28F.
About the transmission, I still maintain the A750F is probably the best transmission you can get in this range of vehicle.
I was initially surprised when Wyatt said it didn't come with the newer AC60F 6-speed until I realised it was released in 2009 and is mechanically unchanged since then. And it did not get the newer 2GR-FKS as the 3rd Gen Tacoma did either. Strange positioning on Toyota's part honestly, given the sales volume.
Well done! Thks
That’s my twin!! 22Pro- I luv my 4R. But those Nittos are only meant for street and dirt. Wanting to replace them once they loose their tread.
I would love to see you rallying a Nissan Xterra in the same course.🤣
a titan swap with the 6 speed manual please
snow/ studded tires on the 4runner should give the Bronco a run for its money. ok yeah it doesn't have a twin turbo motor but it'll be cool to see the difference on this track
No turbo is an advantage in my book.
Would like to see you try this again with better tires and maybe tuned suspension
GX460 and 08-22 Sequoia would do really good. Both have torsen center diffs.
Or a limited lol
I think you should do a 2 door wrangler. Having driven both its a worlds difference in rotating the car and you can tell a slight weight difference
Love these
So there’s only one thing to do - redo the time with some snow tires! Then you can do a day-of comparison of the tires driving up various surfaces! Best series on the Tubes!! Let’s get y’all famous!
That's where this channel really lacks. They just rally a car once. They're not even consistent about doing it in the summer and the winter.
It would be interesting to see an AWD Challenger or Charger go through the course, love the vids!
There’s one of a police charger
That was fun to watch. Reminds me how I would drive my 6sp manual Xterra pro4x haha. Aso, what watch are you wearing? looks nice!
Hey thanks! The watch is a metal G-Shock GST-B300 something-or-other. My Dad gave it to me last year because watches don't last me very long 😆 so far so good on this one, it's a little beat up but still ticking
I'm curious to see how the ford focus RS would do factory. I have one and find it handles amazing in the winter
These vids are sick do a ram 1500 wanna see how the hemi handles this
Nice Video
Thank you
Please do a GX! Or V8 4th gen 4R. Better center diff in AWD models
Limited with winter tires is the best trim for snow
Nissan xterra would be cool also
4Hi tight turns lead to the front axles binding on 4runners. That makes rallying much harder. Try it with the 4Runner Limited that has full time 4WD and there guaranteed to be a world of difference.
4hi binds on all 4x4 vehicles. Doesn't matter here so much because he's on snow. So much slip
man u was driving that like the bandit if ...u had a jump bro . u would be . nice driving
You love the toyotas! Let's see a will it rally with a rav4 hybrid on snow tires.
What about doing the same video with snow tires to compare?
I’d love to see a will it rally for the older lexus gx’s
We need to see the studs on it for another run
Never would have thought to see the 4Runner perform like that in the snow, lol!
Would like a video on wyatts daily driver logic.
I very simple i see wyatt i click
Love my 4runner but I use it more for an overlanding rig rather than an off road rally truck.
I had a 4runner TRD for a few years, Iwonder if the low brake pedal comes from disabling the braking assist that applies extra braking force if you step on it too fast.
You being a long time taco driver , I cant wait to see your thoughts on the next gen taco. Someone sliding a truck threw cones and rallying it is a better review then a guy cruising down the highway saying the radio doesn't change songs fast enough haha
Hey, man, what kind of watch is that you’re wearing? Gotta say, very nice!
I would have preferred to see the Limited trim with the torsen center diff
Really wondering what kind of winter tires you would recommend for the 4Runner ?
Just go buy an '06 with the 4.7. Has the awd landcruiser transmission. Indestructible.
Agreed if you can find one that hasn't completely disintegrated.
Please put snow tires on this thing and do it again!
Great video brother, what snow tires would you recommend ? Pittsburgh here ,thanks.
There are many great options out there. Here is a video we made several years ago that is still relevant and has useful information to help make a tire decision. ua-cam.com/video/21gnGy4ltOw/v-deo.html Also, Wyatt really liked the Bridgestone Blizzaks in the most recent Will It Rally?
Wow he needs to replace vin diseal in the next upcoming fast and furious
Try out an awd v8 one!
You should try a Nissan armada/patrol/infiniti qx80
We've got one more year left with this gen (probably) and we're just trying to figure this out?
wish you guys put snow tires on it. Sure, it would have added to the cost of the video, but it would be more representative
Can i drive up amd have you do this with my car
I'm wondering how a vehicle would do with 1 petrol and 1 E-axle like the Alfa Romeo Tonale.
Do you air down for these videos? Would it help?
Can you guys do a G-wagon one day? Incredible if you could find a 4x4^2
Great review of the 4Runner btw that was an interesting perspective
Can you do a GX 460?
for everyone else in the world its a bit over 13L per 100km's
Do a nissan armada please
I have trd-off road 2021 4runner, when im in 4h and lets say I try go up ramp with front wheels turned sharp right or left it seems like it has no power and doesn't want to move much. Is that normal? Or something is mechanically wrong? I don't have that issue when in just rear wheel drive.
turning in 4wd is tough on the diffs...
What’s wrong with the tires ? They’re just not studded ? Is that the issue or is a designated winter tire better?
The tires on the 4Runner this day are more off a summer all terrain tread. It's a harder compound and the tread pattern is meant more for dirt and gravel not snow and ice.
2004 Explorer is very similar. Weak point when sliding those around is the hub bearings. Other than that it's honestly impressive what a 5000 pound suv can do.
So when is the Miata episode?
New Mini Cooper S Countryman All4 please!
2005 Mazda rx8.
Will it rally??
2019 trd pro owner here. I would have to say those Nitto tires are really not that good. Very poor traction compared to dedicated snow tires. How did I find out? I live in Canada.
I’ve heard Toyota is putting the manual Tacoma 6spd in the next 4Runner. . . 😮
try subaru outback wilderness
Next time try the TRD off road it is sprung better but with a BFG ALL TERRAIN
Y’all got any FJ Cruisers? 👀
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Would love to hear tire specs, these came with ko2s right?
No but the KO2 would be a WAY better choice. Nitto Terra Grapplers are standard.
No but the KO2 would be a WAY better choice. Nitto Terra Grapplers are standard.
You keep mentioning tires. What tires are on it?
Nitto terra grappler
Have you guys done a 2006 ranger here?
Not yet!
would love to see a version where half the sentences don’t mention the unsuitable tires
Those Nitto tires are one of the worst performing all terrain tires on the 4runner. No wonder you didn't have much grip and were sliding around. Next time try the same course with a set of Falken Wildpeak At3's or Yokohama Geolandar AT's.
all at's suck in snow and ice. it would be better with some highway treads with a 3 peak snowflake rating or something like that.
I'm kinda building my Ford Maverick into a rally style truck...please do an ecoboost Maverick!!
How the hell did a 4runner on all terrains beat out a GR Corolla on nokian hakkapeliittas?
Conditions on the GR Corolla day were crazy slick
Different conditions basically.
For off-roading, the 4 runner just beats tacomas flat out.... I drive a tacoma lol
Press and hold traction control button in till stability light are flashing. Now traction control is off.... But you have brake's
I had a really nice 2000 gen 3 4runner. Owning both the TRD 5 gen and a 3 gen, I have to say the 3 gen maybe a better truck.
IIRC, it will not fully defeat traction control, just mostly. Let's you get a decent amount of spin and rotation though.
Third gen Camaro!!
If the ponies increase I’ll get it over the Tacoma. I need bug out power
I prefer bugout reliability over power 😁
Well since it’s Toyota I was assuming not to worry about that 🫣😆
I feel a Toyota fleet replacement for the Fords in the near future...
For the price of one of these you're well on your way to building a rally car. Lol
Snow is late this year! Halloween was almost a month and a half ago!
Edit: The 4.0 V6 in these is so underwhelming. Inefficient, makes low power(Only 270 out of 4.0!?), be I guess it’s reliable.
Usually understressing a motor makes it last. That's why I hate all these trucks and SUVs going turbo 4 cyl. Longevity just isn't going to happen.
It’s really reliable actually. No known issues or flaws to date since its release in 2010. The Dual vvti 1GR’s are different from the single vvti versions.
4Runner is a totally different vehicle than Tacoma and a better way. Superior in every way
except for hauling a sofa.
@@bendino9016 yeah, how many people are hauling sofas enough to justify lol? Never
@@terrynichol577 well I am the only occupant in my truck 95% of the time. I don't need seating for family. I also haul a lot of stuff.
If we’re allowed to recommend cars for future videos, here are some that I’d like to see…
- 2008 Dodge Nitro
- 2005 Scion xB
- 1960s Chevrolet Corvair
- 2001 Suzuki Carry Kei Truck
- 2007 Ford Five Hundred Limited
Im suprised it didnt roll over. I mean it is a 4 runner lol.
Tires are junky
