This was legitimately a better action scene than that of a number of blockbuster movies in recent history. High octane, easy-to-follow action that isn't confusing to the eye, and still has emotional and funny moments along the way. This show really does it all.
Y'all are crazy. It's a good scene for TV, but uses way too many quick cuts to cover up the weak choreography. Literally every punch Janet throws is coupled with a close up or cut away.
Becuz action movies use action therefore waste it until it becomes ridiculous or boring, this show focused all the action in one scene so its pretty powerful stuff
Bc the action was built on 3 seasons worth of dramatic tension and suspense. The characters in the sequence are ones we are attached to, and we’re familiar with the antagonist. So there’s a lot more emotional investment by the audience than say if this was a Dwayne Johnson fighting a group of nameless Russian henchmen in an action film.
Because action scenes cost a lot of money and take up too much time. There's safety protocols stund doubles, training, and a whole lot of things that goes hand in hand with. This show was a comedy so they didn't need the huge budget action scenes require, so they managed to make there very few action scenes perfect and awesome
The top left corner of the brass/golden 'door' part of the portal stayed visible each time the portal opened and everything else in the frame turned portal-swirl-blue. This troubles me.

Either that or it was originally set up to punish and reward humans, but somewhere along the line it went off the rails, and now everyone gets punished. Either way though, I don't think anyone is going to the Good Place now, and maybe never at all. The Good Place may be completely empty -- or possibly not even actually exist.
I think it's more satisfying (and faithful to the show's tone and theme) if the Good Place does exist, but is impossible to get into. I really like that idea, and I hope that's where they go with it.
