The complete switch in tone between her begging for her life and then cheerfully explaining that she cannot feel pain and it's all an act just really gets to me.
This comment ruined me I never noticed until now and I've been trying to fall face first on my bed for about 2 days now, but my hands/shoulders have a reflex that prevents it How does D'arcy do it!?!??!!?
not to ruin the illusion but there will be impact mat under a thin layer of sand so she doesn't injure herself. you see it all the time in movies where stunt men fight and its usually an excuse to do it on sand or carpet cuz they're easy surfaces to hide the mats to prevent serious injury when they land.
J E Lyon yes! + D’Arcy said in an interview that to do the fall scenes she has a vest under her dress and two pulleys connected to her waist that two stunt coordinators use to slowly lower her to the ground
So just to clear things up, because these comments make me sad inside, going into sand face first will hurt you. Especially that close to the water where the sand is compacted. D'arcy is not completely faceplanting she is falling onto her chest, which probably has a cushion on it and then lowering her face to the ground.
I love how every time Janet explains that she's not human and can't feel pain, she's almost encouraging Chidi and Eleanor to hit the button. Janet's fantastic.
“This is a stock photo of the crowd at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards.” 3 seasons in and this is still my favourite Janet line. Her delivery is just on point.
I actually saw this clip a long while back before I watched any of the rest of the show. Thought it was very odd. Now it's one of my favorite moments of the entire season tied with the final scene of the season.
@@gabrielg9065 So the man in the tuxedo with white hair is named Michael. He's planning on leaving the location to have himself retired (which is basically like murder for immortal people like him), since he feels guilty that his neighborhood in the afterlife is not working. To leave he needs Janet to call a train, since she's the only person who can do it. Eleanor (the blonde character) knows that Michael is thinking of doing this, partially because of her. Him leaving would be bad for her personally. So she and Chidi (the dude in glasses) head out to reboot Janet to buy themselves time and try to stop Michael from becoming retired. It's a really complicated show and hard to explain all of it. It especially becomes more complicated when you consider stuff that happens at the end of the season/what happens in later seasons. But it's a good show and I recommend watching it.
@@LudaChez That's actually why she did it, believe it or not. As a nod to Wretzky pitchfork.com/thepitch/what-the-good-place-star-darcy-carden-is-listening-to-right-now/
Why wasn't this show advertised? I just finished it because someone on Twitter recommended it. If it doesn't get a second season Ima be pissed. This show is already up there with The Office and Parks & Rec for me.
"I will begin to beg for my life." :D I love her delivery here. It's so cute in a way discordant with the subject matter, and Janet seems so teasing, knowing the humans' bias against killing her.
That moment when Michael sits up in alarm, I'm pretty sure that's the first time in the show where his surprise is genuine. And it's also not accompanied by cartoonish panic. Just a 'wait, what happened?' look on his face
While I guess I wouldn't put pre reformation Micheal past it, Janet was stolen from... the room behind accounting was it? I don't think a demon incompetent as him could modify Janets... Code? So many questions.
Janets aren't supposed to be rebooted except in emergency. I think the begging for life is as she says (why would she lie?) and it's a fail-safe in all (Good) Janets to prevent accidental button-pressing. People in the Good Place wouldn't usually be able to ignore her pleas. Demons, however, would gleefully ignore her and press the button to their delight.
This is the go to scene to show to people to get them into watching The Good Place, just the absurdity of it, D'Arcy's perfect flip flop of emotions, it's so good!
Everyone is correctly pointing out moments like “LOOK AT THEM” and “the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards”, but I need to draw some attention to, “As you approach the kill switch, I will begin to beg for my life.” The way she delivers it so cheerfully and casually is so forking funny! A brilliant line reading from a brilliant actor!
At first, I was wondering what happened to Janet's shoes. Then it occurred to me that even a metaphysical, omniscient database might have trouble walking on sand in high heels.
On a beach I feel if you really committed a murder and were going to flee, you’d need to make trails to the different exits so they don’t know which way you went lol
Is it weird that for me, in the repeats, the funniest thing is that she's bosomy enough that her face doesn't touch the ground? Or better said, that that makes the way she falls even funnier?

That’s actually my favorite part
D'Arcy face planting into the sand without putting her hands out to protect herself has to be the best thing ever. This scene doesn't work without it.

Janet is designed to help them with anything, including killing (not a) her if that's really what they want to do.
