i picked one up for $700 today 190k miles only the interior needs some TLC and the rear bumper has a small crack… The paint is a little rough but nothing some buffing can’t fix! Fully serviced it and when i emptied the oil no sludge or sparkle at all! the whole underneath is spotless from rust for having almost 200k miles!
I picked my black 2005 Sequoia Limited with Navigation, Rear entertainment etc from a local Auction that was donated through Goodwill with 225,000 miles with a new Toyota frame replacement and 98 pages of Dealership records for $2,500! Some cool tricks is you can also put the key in the drivers door and turn to unlock and hold it and it'll open the front windows and sunroof to cool it down on hot days. Also you to start the vehicle you just turn the key and let go it'll start on it's own, basically you don't have to wait for it to start and let go
Under 4000 these things are a steal. I bought with 270k at $4500. There was and still is no rust, i have 320k on mine now and after a little maintenence its running like its brand new
@louzer4609 ouch. I've priced racks myself and am like going to use on from rock auto when the time comes.. Oem is close to 900. I think the price you got is unfair. The first thing I will have to do is UCA,LCA,Tie rods , and all ball joints. Luckily my brother is a huge help.
Absolutely LOVE my Gen1 Sequoia, nice find ! Mine is an 04 Limited that had just over 200k at purchase. It’s now just short of 300k and has needed nothing but routine maintenance and a few upgrades. I did add EBC slotted/drilled/coated rotors and Green Stuff pads for increased braking capability, new Michelin’s all the way around, a 12” sub, new speakers, and a 600w amp to help the new Apple CarPlay stereo and backup camera. I affectionately call it my “Landcrab” and it’s AWESOME at everything except passing up gas stations lol 😂

It’s a 02 SR5 4WD with 307k. Also absolutely not a spot of rust!
It was super clean too I just got it back yesterday. It drives amazing I'll try to upload a video. Still need to get the front fiberglass fenders painted.

I have an 04 with 180k & I love it. I've had it since 2017. It runs like a dream & is super clean. Now no vehicle is perfect so they all have their flaws. So a couple of things about first gen Toyota SUV & trucks. One: Lower ball joints can be known to fall off so change them with OEM ones every 70 to 100k miles. If you buy one & aren't sure of it's history, just change them asap. Two: they have an interference engine so just like the lower ball joints, make sure to change that timing belt every 100k miles. Stay up to date on those two & you're set for miles of reliability 👌

If you install larger tires and a lift, will you be re-gearing the axle ratios? And what ratio would you recommend for 34 or 35 inch tires? Thanks great video BTW!
Ive been looking at the 2nd gen. Doing some research on good and bad years to get. Looks like the 09, 10, 11, and 12 are better years. Im not too worried about the higher milage because it's a Toyota. It just seems like the issues these vehicles have can be pretty expensive ones. I'm as talented as you and do not do my own maintenance. One skill I wish I had...but, maybe someday. I am wanting to build the back out for my photography business and are so I can sleep inside as well as hold my gear. I like the 4WD aspect for better shots with my drone. Thanks for the video.
Very nice! That would be a great setup. If you want simplicity and less issues I’d definitely recommend the 2008+ over the first gen like mine. The first gen required timing belt changes every 100k, lower ball joints as well, and they tend to be rusty. The second gens have the bigger engine with a timing chain that doesn’t need replaced, and they fixed the lower ball joint design - it’s a lot safer.
My next 4runner is a 1st gen Sequoia. Definitely checks all my boxes too. Best Toyota for the money imo. They're underrated for the time being, but I'm seeing some crazy prices on a few. I'm going to snag me a clean 4x4 this year before they get over priced. Sit my rust free 4x4 98 4runner aside for awhile. Your truck looks fkn great 💪

Hey Marty! Dude you inspired me to get a is350 years go. i bought a 2012 is350 f sport. then i bought a wrecked 2009 ISF. I haven't seen your channel in a while and decided to see what you were up to. I was shocked! I didn't know you bought an ISF or a Seqouia. Low and behold guess what else is in my drive way... a 2004 seqouia limited black with 240,000 miles. i bought in december 2022 hahahaha small world. i would love to see what you do with it. I love the Seqouia! I bought it for long road trips. currently i have a Evap code i cant figure out for the life of me. 😑but it runs and drives so smooth!
Welcome back! Lol there's so many videos on UA-cam that it's so easy to miss new ones! But that is awesome, the ISF is a beast of a car, and so is the Sequoia! How often does the timing belt, coating and ball joints need to be done? I have always gotten vehicles checked out. Do you always ask owner to let you take it to get it checked? Just want your opinion. I am thinking about getting a Sequoia, but some of the best ones are in rural areas and don't have a chain mechanic business that is open on a Saturday.
Timing belt and water pump are recommended every 90-100k miles. Lower ball joints about the same time period. The coating should last a long time if cared for. I usually check the car out myself but bringing it to a mechanic isn’t a bad idea.
@@MartyMotoringThanks so much for your opinion. We have to replace a vehicle for a second time in 2 years because of a reckless driver. We were sitting at a light waiting behind other cars for it to change and someone was not even watching the road and slammed into us at high speed without braking. She just said she looked away, but we think she must have been doing something, like be on her phone. People are so reckless today. Accidents happen, but pure recklessness is a sin. I hate it happened at all because she sandwiched us in with two other cars up front. Her insurance is going up and I hope that will teach her, but I rather preachers in this land repent and get back to the truth and teach people to love thy neighbor again by the Word of God. I forgive her because she owed up to the fact it was her fault and was sorry to see us hurt so bad. I and my daughters are still recuperating and this happened last Thursday night. The condition and the mind of the people out there is bad. When I was young, there weren't the massive amount of recks or sin for that matter as there is today. Jesus said repent or perish. I feel for the young and want them to find the truth in the Word of God for themselves. I want them to study the Bible approved and form their own churches if necessary . Most churches keep their tax exempt status by not preaching on certain subjects, leaving a lot of truth of God's Kingdom Ways out. What is that Saying? Oh! " The truth shall set you free." that 4.7 v8 Motor Is known as the million mile motor.... It's literally gone a million miles for a lot of owners. If you Google the million mile engine that motor will pop up. Japanese engineers that 1st made it were upset with it because it never failed during their stress testing They wouldn't have kept making it. If there wasn't a market for v8 motors In the US. That's why they move That division. of their company to the United States. Mine had 205,000 miles on it. Most of them will go over six hundred thousand miles if you take care of the regular maintenance Anyway just thought I would share that. Yeah they also sprayed the undercarriage with some cheap coating used to be a recall for it. That's why a lot of them are notorious for rusty undercarriages. You are fortunate you got one that has no rest underneath it. Mine had a little bit but not bad.
Nice! Yeah these engines are good if you replace the timing belt on time and keep up with everything. I just did valve cover gaskets and Lower ball joints and chasing down an oil leak. This 4.7L V8 is solid and actually derived from the 4.0L in the Lexus LS400 made in the 90s. Very similar to the 4.3L later produced. They went to this 4.7L and then the 5.7L in 2007/2008. Plus my 2008 ISF saw the first 5.0L V8 in production from Toyota/Lexus so that was cool and powerful! Toyota V8s aren’t the most powerful but definitely last a long time! Hoping my Sequoia does

@@MartyMotoringhmm. Then why do people seem to value the 1st gen’s over the 2nd?
My next 4runner is a 1st gen Sequoia. Definitely checks all my boxes too. Best Toyota for the money imo.
They're underrated for the time being, but I'm seeing some crazy prices on a few. I'm going to snag me a clean 4x4 this year before they get over priced. Sit my rust free 4x4 98 4runner aside for awhile.
Your truck looks fkn great 💪
Got a super nice 2005 Sequoia 👍👍.
I got a 2002...
Ha! I just got 1 like this for free!! My brother did not want to pull his camper on a rusty bolt, spray paint would not have taken care of that (or his 4 grandkids)...it is also black!! Same/Same!! But I only have a little over 100k miles on mine🌋 SO glad you have 311..makes me happy already! THANKS DUDE!!
I've had the same SUV but '04, since 2010. 210k miles and it will take a LOT more than 3900 to get it from me. Nice find., enjoy.
I just bought one like a month ago 2004 2wd sr5 with 95k miles has 96k now but I bought it for $5600 base model but it’s so nice and clean for the year got good power too but I’d love to get a face lifted one lol
I personally love these SUVs for their size, comfort and quality but don't have means to afford one. Hope for the best
Hi Marty. Whats the name of bluetooth adapter? Is it a plug and play adapter or i have to wire in stuff in order to get bluetooth?
This is my 2nd Sequoia, and they are super solid cheaper SUVs. You have less miles than me which is great! I can't wait to do more with mine! Great combo!
@Mr.E First thing is to buy an OEM gas cap from a dealership, if you haven't already. They're not that expensive and may solve your problem
@@heavilypeted The code is for a large leak detected. The gas cap hisses when i remove it so i think it has good back pressure. ill try that though but im wondering if its a canister purge valve issue.
Do you know which fuse the O2 sensors are linked to in a 2002 SR5 Sequoia? I'm getting the dreaded P0156 error code. I know what it means and am working through the several possible causes. Thank you!
Thanks! This was very helpful.
Can't beat a good Toyota!!
Hi Marty, do you by chance have the link to that bluetooth adapter? I recently was given a 2007 Sequoia Limited and that head unit radio is starting to act janky. Would like to upgrade to use my own music. TIA!
I’m looking at one tomorrow 55000 miles 2007 sr5 4wd. Is 15k a good price for the miles and year. Car is clean no rust since is a California car interior is clean and vehicle is well maintained the owner is an older gentleman only one owner
Looking for plastic interior window trim? Where can I find for all of my windows??
Brake light is master cylinder
That's really nice at a good price
I think I over paid at 13k for an 06 limited with 130k miles 4x4 clean grandma owned but I still love it and don’t mind that i spent that much.
Would love one of these myself!
Thanks, you told everything and in a short period of time. Nice review.
Bought a 02 for 1k. Someone took the cats. I bought new ones and now I've put about 1k miles in it and no issues
Nice score. Can’t find any of them in California 😢 people buy them up and drive the price up too
if you shift into 2 on the column and press shift L it will put it in first gear
Oh! " The truth shall set you free." I thank you for your education in this vehicle. This helps me out. Here is a man starting his own Ekklesia (church) in his home. ua-cam.com/video/Y4ZjqyW3xDA/v-deo.htmlsi=hpws2QSSkS6-TzRx also this other brother wakes people up to see truth. ua-cam.com/users/shortsYWn46ZXp05s?si=g_5vIbpDCVEvLj5g God Bless you in Jesus Christ.
$1100
any idea on the trac lights being on and won’t go off. . No check engine light though
Hmm sounds like an abs issue - gotta get it scanned with a scanner that supports abs module reading
Mine is only 2WD but I love it. I don't care about 4WD because Sequoias aren't that great for offroad anyway.
Hi was wondering what model or where to get the blue tooth device you mentioned to connect to phone Crux or something like that?
Hey! I got it from Crutchfield.com. The Crux BT adapter.
Yepp, I Have a 2006. SR5 325000 miles. 👊🏼💪🏼👍🏼. Work at a Dealership Delivering Wholesale Parts. 1Paintless Dent Repair Guy had 650000 miles on His when He Sold it😳😳👍🏼
Great vehicles the Toyota Sequoia
Hop on the 3rd row. Do you fit well ?
I fit but it’s not comfortable 😂 I’m also 6’1” and 280lbs
Ty
How did you make the back window go up ?
Turn key to the left
Do you remember what exhaust you had on your 2002? 🤤
Just cut out the muffler and put a glasspack in there, had it welded. I'm doing a proper aftermarket muffler this time, still cheaper than an exhaust system
I'm thinking to get one Toyota Sequoia 2006
that 4.7 v8 Motor Is known as the million mile motor....
Hoping my Sequoia does
Just bought a 02
my gramps has 2 (well used to cuz he gave my mom one cuz the 4runner died) 2004 and 2008.
I got the same sequoia
Yes people Ned some bigger
180 2002 is mine like new😊
Are you worried about clogged cats that some of these seem to have?
You can solve that real quick and easily tho heh
Haven’t heard of that issue but easy fix lol
@@thoggboogus2560 Can you point me in the right direction on what spacers you used? My sequoia is outsmarting me and still pulling a CEL.... *Sad face*
I got mine at 180k miles for 8900$
Now it has 239k and Iv done so much work to it it’s infuriating it’s my daily driver. I mean Iv done everything to it repair wise that can go wrong. Almost worth buying one with 300k miles so someone else fixes those 225k repairs that happen like clock work. And then you can redo the things you need for cheaper
These are WAY overpriced in my area. Most people wanting $15k-$20k for one with 150k+ miles. Outrageous
I have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia and I don't sell it in any price
It’s old as me
4.7
Mine has 317,000. Mi. . i paid 3000. In 2021.
Not bad at all!
Wow, 311K
313k now 😅
Every thing about these is awesome except the fuel economy and the garbage 4wd system
Yeah 13-15mpg isn’t great but what’s wrong with the 4wd? Mine has a locking center diff along with true 4HI and 4LO. If it’s not locked, it acts as an open diff AWD system
@@MartyMotoring i was getting 12 mpg with alot of highway and the center diff lock didn't make any difference in my experience it couldn't handle off-road stuff a real transfercase 4x4 could and it was almost not able to pull a old honda accord out of the snow i was so excited to buy it 08 with all the options and it let me down so bad i traded it in on a 2013 4wd f150 ecoboost (a proper beast that now has over 260k and still tows like its nothing) 😮💨
Actually you got a killer deal. It has a dvd player and so much stuff because is the limited is amazing
I've had the same SUV but '04, since 2010. 210k miles and it will take a LOT more than 3900 to get it from me. Nice find., enjoy.
