  • Are premium FPV motors better compared to the budget motors? This question was running through my mind when I almost got through my stock of Emax ECO II motors. There is only one way to find so got my hands on the AxisFlying AF227 motors and pushed them through a few packs!

      I like the T-motor Velox V3's. Only $15 and last me longer than most $20 motors that I was buying. Not the best motors but I crash and break motors anyway so I'm happy with them. Especially for the price.

      For 5” over the last year I’ve been running the AxisFlying AE2306.5 1960kv. Love them but I’m currently trying the VCI Titan 2306 1850kv. We’ll see if they can take the spot from the AEs.
      For 3.5, I’ve only flown EMax Eco II 2004 3000kv on 4S. Love those and have no desire to change from them. In fact I’m about to buy another stash as I prepare for another 3.5 build.

    i think we collectively banned the word ''smoother'' after somebody used it 4,382 times with every new motor and prop. the truth is, the prop the weight the battery and the motor all combine to give the feel. the best of the best pilots cant tell the difference between motors when given a well balanced test. props along with the weight are probably the most ''feel'' sensitive parts. cheaper motors that dont skimp on materials or design features are the ones to go for. if you see a bling motor, just bear in mind, you cant actually see the motors when the props are on. xing 2 and pros are fine, durability isnt a myth, but it is very bullshitty. tough motors exist but no motor will survive the perfect crash, and they all fail around the same point. ps. dont over tighten props, think 12 year old girl strength to tighten them.

      Makes sense! No doubt It's very likely my brain is trying to find reasons to justify the extra costs for upgrading to these motors.😅

    Been flying some Eco2s for over a year and they have been great! I also noticed a strange noise coming from them after time too but it wasn’t until I crashed into concrete that they made the noise.
    I’ve got some T-Motors I’ve meant to put on but why, when the Eco2s are still going? Did you get any funky twitches on your Ecos after time?

    • @_REMIE
      @_REMIE  2 місяці тому +1

      The issue I ran into was the fact my drone started vibrating and making grinding noises while cruising. This made me do the motor test via the FC GUI and the gyro picked up a lot of noise during tests.
      After switching to the AxisFlying the sound was gone. But a fresh set of ECO's would probably have solved the issue as well.

    Cool video dude! I can tell the differences in motors and the way they fly. I don't have a long history, but I really like the T-motors. I have the cheaper versions the v2 and v3 Velox, but I like the way they fly. I would definitely consider the premium motors like the T-Motor F60. Especially if you are flying in bando type areas. I am quoting experienced pilots who I have seen on YT, and I believe they know what they are talking about and their flying backs them up! I am sure the Axis motors are also very good! I see a lot of great pilots using them. There is a reason. Nice flying bro! I see big improvements. That Kiss FC I think does not hurt also. Premium Flight Controller!

    axis flying recently came out with a new version of the af227 motor. the new version are unibell instead of split bell, and are like $6 cheaper than the version you are using in this video. I think they come out to be around $21 each, which is a crazy good price for what you're getting. the new af227 (racing) motor is currently my favorite motor. if you like the original version you will love the new version especially at a lower price point.

    Great video on this topic. I'd totally pay more for premium motors if they came with better durability. I fly Xing 2's mainly due to the high kv, and I would be very tempted to switch if someone else came with a high kv 4s motor. I already burned 2 of them flying tree spots in 5 months due to an isuue with the bell breaking at the same point. I also like that combo, it seemed easy until I tried it once and ended up in a tree haha

    I used to fly Emax ECOS and now I fly the hypertrain (rotor riot) PDEVX motors, which are manufactured by T-Motor. I also have a set of the T-Motor F60 pros. both sets of motors are 2306. Either way both of these motors have been way more durable than the ECOS, and I have really only broken a few. I am not sure if I can tell a difference in how the ECOS fly VS the TMotor/Hypertrain. I also never get that bell chiming sound I used to get from the ECOS. Either way I'd say T-Motor probably makes some of the best motors in the game. I think ECOS are also fine if you are just gonna cruise around parks and stuff.

      I heard/read T-Motor and AxisFlying are related to each other, just like Speedybee and Runcam. And Aikon produces most of the ESC's. I wonder why brands do this? Offcourse not every brand has its own factory, but I wonder how that works with all these 'sister' brands (not sure if I translated that right).

    I prefer brotherhobby, but lately I've been using skystars 2275 motors, they seem to be same quality as t-motor, just a fraction of the price, also data sheet shows more thrust, closest i found to supernovas, just stay away from iflight motors though, unless you like smoke shows and loose stators...

      @@_REMIE just a rant which is just my opinion, which is very biased after being burt many times trying iflight products, I've have several bad iflight aio's, cooked ESCs, failed becs on their FCs, vtxs that are unstable and multiple sets of bad motors, i really can't say they ever made a good product... but there are probably far more iflight guys out their then any other brand, but they are usually the noobs that go out and just cruise their prebuilt nazgul or evoque around a school every so often, they usually don't put the time and energy into learn to build their own stuff that is better functionally so they don't know what to compare to and they also seem to choose things by how they look, they go out and fly them a few times after spending a bunch if hours on a sim and are are suddenly experts. I follow alot of forums and groups and I've probably seen thousands of pictures of iflight burnt motors, I've personally built over 4 dozen kwads myself in the past 10 years, i build budget builds and sell not for profit but to get others into the hobby. I'm a shit pilot, but love to fly for mental decompression and to build to keep my mind sharp, i really like the tech side of the hobby. All 3 times i used xing motors they ended up having problems if you rip on them hard, for instance there the only motors I've ever seen that the stators come loose on the base. This is just a theory but I think they seem to make them better quality at first and their influencers get good ones in the beginning, but seems like after they make several batches and go into mass production their quality just falls apart, like they buy cheaper wire with bad enamel or something... As for power they are average at best and I'd put emax eco ii well above xing2 motors for 4 reliability, and those are economy, Multi-wire wound, and will usually rattle straight out the box, i used to be a fan of emax motors back in the red bottom and rsii days, but I'd still use them before xings today. Iflight also never replaced their obviously defective products for me, theyd offer me 20% off a replacement which is BS, why would i want to buy more garbage... so then you have to hope the distributor takes it back... I have a bad parts bin i toss all my bad stuff in hoping someday it may come in handy, there are more iflight products in there then anything else. In my experience t-motor, axis flying, rcinpower have some great motors but are too pricey for me to beat on, it's funny rcinpower used to be el cheapo and now they are probably the best... I have heard alot of good things about rotor riot motors too, but i don't like how they have treated several of their past pilots, their corporate shenanigans seem to be in bad taste, so i find it hard to support them. Brotherhobby motors never let me down, my favorite quad has uc 2207 on it, they just don't die, but they seem to be no longer innovating for past several years now, i don't know what's going in with them, so i moved on to skystars koko motors, they were nicely priced, but as popularity grows the price has risen, still the 2275 are great motors for $60, i have 4+ sets of them, although i did have one recently that was causing some weird behavior, luckily i had one i crushed the bell hitting a rock wall that i was able to reuse the stator, but something like that can be expected with any company, it just happens to often with iflight, sorry for the rant, I like to share my opinion hoping that it helps other people, if not maybe the feedback gets back to the companies and helps influence the future if the hobby in some small way....
