My dad is deaf in one ear, so the bone conducting headphones let him hear audio in perceived stereo again. He describes it as hearing the music inside his head instead of through his ears. They are magical to him.
wow
Woah that's actually really neat. I wonder if other deaf people use these.
Maybe that's how those hearing devices work too? They redirect sound through the bone?
@@FroyourHistory i have a mate who uses a similar pair as hearing aids but they also work as headphones so he could listen to music in class lol
That's actually a rather important addition... My dad also but almost instead of entirely deaf on one ear, and bad on the leftover. Wonder if that would do the same, specially since he doesn't like anything inside or on top of his ears...

I’m an electrician and I use my aftershokz everyday. Seriously the mic is amazing, the touch controls are simple and great. I can talk on the phone, listen to podcasts, use them on my motorcycle with a helmet (helps conceal the sound, no wind) and it lasts for the entire work day. And it gives the appearance that they aren’t in my ear so I can still hear people. Working in a construction zone, it’s essential to be able to hear someone if something goes wrong general communications need to delivered to maintain safety. So 10/10 would recommend.
Ive used a set of these for about two years. I got bone conductives for a specific reason and fell in love with them. I cut trees for a living, between wood chippers and chainsaws.
I wear a bandana over them, that brings the sound up a lot. Plug your ears with some comfy plugs and its pretty dang good. Even if you are standing on top of a diesel powered woodchipper at full throttle.

I’ve used treks titaniums for years now and they really help me drown out extra noise (I have aspergers and public areas stress me out) because it lets me focus on whatever I’m listening to while being able to still hear the world around me.
I wear the cheaper aftershocks literally all day, every day. I've been watching all your videos through them, actually. I agree, the audio quality isn't amazing, but it's fine. Why I love them is simple... They can just be worn, 24/7 comfortably. You can pause your podcast/audiobook/music and have a conversation without removing them. You forget they are there, and start to think your phone has a magical ability to just beam music straight into your ears! Plus, I run a lot of power tools for my work and hobbies... With these, you can toss in some earplugs, protect your hearing while running an angle grinder, and still be lost in an epic story via an audiobook! That IS magic, in my book. I have many headphones, and after getting these, I completely lost interest in all my other headphones. They aren't the best at audio, but they are the best at daily life. Heck, you can even put gaming headphones over them, and listen to a podcast while playing your favorite video game at the same time, without effecting the audio of the game at all! MAGIC!
I discovered this channel 2 weeks ago, binged the whole thing, patreond, binged that, and now every Thursday feels like a national holiday.

You may think the Aeropexes are flat, but when they're the only thing you're allowed to wear during a marathon (i.e. this or just the sound of people panting) these are wonderful.

I’ve used the Aftershokz Aeropex for over a year, as a daily driver. They’re my favorite headphones ever. Not the richest audio experience, but it’s amazing, because I can have conversations with people while listening to things. It’s amazing.
I remember when I was younger, we had these things called "tooth tunez" and they used bone conduction to let you listen to a song while you brushed your teeth, but it was only one song, and it always started from the beginning, and honestly, this reminded me so much of that, lol
That sounds interesting actually. I had all sorts of strange things growing up too.
I had one that played We Will Rock You by Queen
Settle down hun.
Yep I had one of those too when I was a kid. I have one memory of not being able to really hear the sound when turning it on without any bone contact, but if you gently bend the toothbrush during operation, it would play a bit louder and I could hear the noise. Awesome stuff for being so long ago.

Both of my parents have the Aftershokz. I haven't personally noticed any bleeding out, but I guess they listen to their stuff quietly, or my hearing is shit (but I don't think it is). Its pretty helpful for my dad who's gotten rather hard of hearing due to years of working in loud factories. I'm just happy he's able to listen to stuff without absolutely blasting it, and causing even more hearing damage
Bought ones for my mom, she loves music, but has been deaf from her left ear since 18, she heard in stereo for the first time in 30 years, was wholesome to watch
"Expectation is the gateway to disappointment" - DankPods 2021
The bleeding on bone-conduction headphones isn't as bad when you're wearing them - the reason you can hear it so clearly is that the surface that normally transmits the vibrations to your body is instead sending them to the open air. It's not as private as in-ear headphones, but there's less bleed than the mass-market over-ears that came with CD players and early mp3 players when I was a kid.

Aftershokz has a model with the very same purpose: the XTrainerz. Basically an MP3 player built into the headphones for swimming. Main difference between hers and these is probably the fact that it carries 4 gigs of space.

Hey man, there's a little portable "speaker" called Soundwaver WHD, that doesn't have any drivers. You have to attach it to a surface, like a window or a table (the bigger the surface is the higher the volume), and it sends vibrations to create the sound. It's a funny little gadget and you may find it interesting. It costs around 70€
Wouldn't it need drivers to make vibrations?
The last podcast on the left is amazing, I can't tell you how many times is listened about THE ICE MAN.
I've got a pair of the Z8s myself, I bought them for one of the exact reasons you mentioned, I was interested in the idea of the technology, but not enough to spring for the Aftershockz. The big thing I liked about the idea was having a single device that could both do "listen to them while still being able to hear background noise" and "listen to them in isolation" with a nice pair of earbuds put in. Unfortunately the leaking means that they aren't appropriate for a lot of scenarios, so "single device" kinda goes out the window. If you are (ignoring Covid now) in a cubicle then the bleed is probably ok, but if you don't have any barrier between your coworkers it's probably not. Sharing a couch is right out, and they are probably on the rude side for an airplane as well, if you aren't going to be sitting next to family. I will say that with ear plugs in they did do the job both on the plane and even mowing the lawn, also if you hold them a little tighter against your bones than the headphones do themselves (say a headband) the sound is transmitted to you far more effectively, so you can lower the volume, and between that and the headbands dampening it that helps with the bleed a lot. But how often are you wearing a headband?
Also they aren't particularly robust, my baby got her hands on them to pull them off my ear and pulled apart some of the casing instantly.
I have no idea what I'm about to view but I'm already excited

Not a problem with these.
Similar thing here. The bleed really isn't all that bad unless you're blasting your music and honestly at the lower levels I tend to play at (25-40%) you really can't hear it at all as a bystander. I also love having the ability to listen to music and just be aware of my surroundings at the same time. Yeah, the sound quality can't compare to buds / traditional headphones, but I'm content with it as the biggest perk is their convenience (not to say the sound quality is terrible, it's decent).
