So many memories with this game and NES in general. A magical part of my early childhood to never get back. I miss the late 80's, early 90's. Saturday cartoons, friday pizza and movie or game rental. Ah what a great age.
+Retro Fan We didn't rent that much in Sweden but I remember the family nights when dad was playing Zelda, Rygar, Kid icarus, Metroid, Castlevania and so on and the entire family were looking and solving problems and stuff. Those were the times :)
when your a kid, and you make it up to "Castle", it was the scariest stage by far. floating on rock, completely isolated and alone, you have to traverse around this monstrous castle wall without a soul in sight. It made the dread of finding a doorway or opening that much more intense. when you did find your way in, you had to battle the shadows of all the beasts and monsters your slayed beforehand. It was a waking visceral nightmare, and the music was a big part of that uneasy despair your felt in the pit of your soul...
So good that Anberlin stole the background riff. Check it out. The first time I heard the song I said "Rygar!" Anberlin-The Feel Good Drag Song by Anberli
Great music! Jesus, back in the late 80s/early 90s my brother, myself and my friend must have played this game a thousand times. Most times all through the night. It was so crazy still playing while the sun was rising. To be a young teen again, ahhh.
0:34 Mountain best one!!! I was like 5 when my brother played this. I just barely remembered that it was an adventure game with a guy walking and i couldn't forgot that mountain stage music which stayed in my memory.Since all these years i sang that theme by myself without knowing the name of the game. So i checked all the nes adventure games and finally found it quickly :) Even if i would seen a screenshot of the game or even stage 2 i wouldn't recognize it. The only reason i found it was because of moutain theme . Thanks man!
I recently played through this game and beat it after all these years. Finally lol but this game is a prime example of how different video games were in 1987 compared to today. Games were very difficult back then and if you beat a game that means you worked for it! There was no auto healing and unlimited lives back then (unless you used a game genie of course) this game was tough though. Far beyond the skill level of a 6 year old kid
16:51 Truly, the height of gaming music excellence. Indeed, the very track that all others wish they could ascend to. A masterful wizardry of creativity that shows forth the true power of music. An amazing showcase of bleeding-edge technical prowess. The way you cut it short with only one single loop is truly a crime against us all.
I was so glad when they came out with a Rygar game for the PS2. I didn't hesitate to buy it the day it came out. One of the few games I actually took time off from work to play, like GTAIII, Vice CIty, and San Andreas. And it was an amazing experience, just like the old NES game.
Classic game! I actually got in a nostalgic mood today and decided to play it through once again. Beat it on my first try! Still remember all the paths and boss tactics after so many years. :-D
THANK YOU FOR THIS AWESOME UPLOAD!! Rygar was my favorite NES game. I couldn't wait especially to get to the end to hear that pretty tune. I would let it play forever. The prettiest computer songs ever... all of them!
Mountain song has stuck in my head for 30+ years. As long as you grind and killed untold amount of creatures, the end guy was OK, just bounce and hit. If you died, your strength would be so weak you may as well jump off that floating castle.
Great soundtrack and one of the first really long soundtracks in the NES' early days -- the US & JP tracks with no loops still add up to nearly 16 minutes in length! By the way, this soundtrack was not actually done by the Tecmo sound team, but was by Advance Communication Company.
This is one of the greatest minimalist video game soundtracks ever. Almost all of the songs only use two out of the five available sound channels on the system. The music for this game could not have been written more perfectly. Even the famicom game music is great where's some of the tracks differ.
C'mon now, we're all here for "Palace." LOL...my buddy and I when we played this as kids were cracking jokes while beating that level, saying the final boss was the dude on the piano and your reward was whomping him upside the head when you got there. DING DING DING DONG DING DING DING DONG DING DING DING DONG
When i heard those first 2 tunes 21 years ago, i was soo excited, and i tout that this game was kick ass, but hearing this game in stereo on my 5.1 set, blows my mind, just kick ass!!!
Can't decide which version's soundtrack I prefer. This version has the cave music, but the first two tracks of the japanese version's soundtrack are unbelievably epic.
One of my all time favorite games and soundtracks. Hearing it in stereo is awesome! The only thing that tops this is the version from the PS2's Rygar in that secret area! I believe it's "Paths"
I think lapis gates is a pretty underrated song in the game. Its not the cave, tower, or final castle theme. But its still pretty good.... Also for some reason to me the mountain area theme sounds like something you might hear in banjo kazooie.
The music is def unique and now, I d say, musically its more hit than miss. today its cave that stood out as good. For its time, it had a complete soundtrack and the game was extensive and made you think a bit.
i love rygar, its really a flawed masterpiece the graphics for there time are above average, the soundtrack is one of the best of the 8 bit era and the exploration and dungeons are the icing on the cake. however the fact thats theres no password or save, the many glitchs in the game aswell as a few questionable design flaws makes this a misunderstood gem.
The ost for this game that was released in Japan contains different music for a few of the stages. Does anybody know the reason for it? I mean the music is still quite good, and sets a somewhat different tone, but it's hardly something that needed to be changed...
ok maybe not one of best soundtracks but defiantly one of my personal favorites of the 8 bit generation. i mean for an early 1987 game the soundtrack is quite large for its time with long tunes for the most part.

+Retro Fan I concur! :)

same here
Wow. Sounds like my late 80s early 90s. Love that Friday pizza!!!

A luck dragon?
@@OriginalMasters Says the bender.
So true! I'll never forget it. I was sweating and nervous that first time. 1988 was the year I first played it. I was 13.
Well said
I first got there at 4 in the morning. With weak hands and overtiredness, I trudged on. Beat it about 5am and could finally rest.
Man that cave song seriously kicks ass

Anberlin-The Feel Good Drag
Song by Anberli
This is the music that we grew up with, and although we have heard this music many times before it is important that we continue to play it.
?
"Sagila's Cave" and "Tower" are just so fucking metal. Love it.
I came hear to relive the Cave song theme again, it did not disappoint. 👍👍💯💯
Core memory unlocked... how did I miss this one??
Wow that music brings back so many memories of my brother and I playing Nintendo all night.
4:17 - Paths is a slapper.
Great music! Jesus, back in the late 80s/early 90s my brother, myself and my friend must have played this game a thousand times. Most times all through the night. It was so crazy still playing while the sun was rising. To be a young teen again, ahhh.
Great score! Critically underrated for sure

They did an amazing job emulating the original, it really impressed me

This sounds really great in high quality 'phones. Great work dude 👍
I was playing Sunset last night on my synth when I found the perfect settings that reminded me of this soundtrack. Good times!
this is one of my favorite games of all time.
Thank you for the video and music!
THANK YOU FOR THIS AWESOME UPLOAD!! Rygar was my favorite NES game. I couldn't wait especially to get to the end to hear that pretty tune. I would let it play forever.
The prettiest computer songs ever... all of them!
This soundtrack is a masterpiece!
Man I love this channel.
2:57 Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde intro theme, lol.
Both games were composed by the same composer Michiharu Hasuya although Jekyll and Hyde came out in 89'
I dare say this is top three 8-bit nes soundtracks
Alright, that's it. Time to load up the emulator.
Everyone in the comments talking about Cave, but my childhood was all about that Mountain song!
Thank you!!!! Love the game and soundtrack!!!
OH FUCK YEAH!
first thing that got my attention when playing this game was the music!
Mountain song has stuck in my head for 30+ years. As long as you grind and killed untold amount of creatures, the end guy was OK, just bounce and hit. If you died, your strength would be so weak you may as well jump off that floating castle.
Always loved Rygar soundtrack!!
You provide a great service my friend

Someone was having the best day of their life when they made the cave theme.
10:26 i love it
I love this game. Very well designed.
Just what I needed
Still the best NES soundtrack imo
Your channel.
It helps me study.
The Cave was the best sound! I wonder if Mr Hasuya knows just how much his musical gift impacted our childhoods?
Um... 01:05 sounds like a lullaby. Go to sleep.....my little baby.....LOL.
OMG yes! I always thought that too !
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!
And the rest of it is climb this mountain full of monsters and triumph like a true warrior.
That's what I was thinking when I was playing the game a moment ago!
I always thought the same thing.
I was thinking the first song was a bit Superman.
This is one of the greatest minimalist video game soundtracks ever. Almost all of the songs only use two out of the five available sound channels on the system. The music for this game could not have been written more perfectly. Even the famicom game music is great where's some of the tracks differ.
This was my favorite game on nes, I always liked the music in this one
Tecmo had a great team
C'mon now, we're all here for "Palace."
LOL...my buddy and I when we played this as kids were cracking jokes while beating that level, saying the final boss was the dude on the piano and your reward was whomping him upside the head when you got there.
DING DING DING DONG DING DING DING DONG DING DING DING DONG
Am I the only one who thinks Rygar kind of looks like Donny Osmond on the cover?
I swear, that first song always sounded familiar to me when I was a kid. I kept thinking _Superman_, and it looks like I wasn't the only one!
The most sublime NES game.
The best sound : cave 😍
Thak you!! this is the best OST of NES!
'Paths' is so good.
Awesome! I rememeber this game.
Mountain is some straight up hero music.
A very bizarre game. Some of those creepy looking monsters creeped me out as a little kid.
I got you on that. For me it was those weird trees with the empty eyes that shoot things at you in the overview.
Easily the best NES music (fav childhood game)
13:06 !! i love playing the drums over this!
cave music is awesome!!! but tower music gives me chills!!! point of no return type of shit! good luck from here on out!!
Thanks for uploading Rygar! I was about to send you a request for this soundtrack.. Also, if you can, can you upload Wizard and Warriors? You rock!
When i heard those first 2 tunes 21 years ago, i was soo excited, and i tout that this game was kick ass, but hearing this game in stereo on my 5.1 set, blows my mind, just kick ass!!!

Everyone is talking about their childhood, I'm the guy that loved this music before I discovered it was supposed to be an imitation of a Hurdy Gurdy
This is very, very true! Thanks for this!
11:00 - We all know this is the reason we came here.
Well it is the cave music which is among my favorite but the ending theme is still my favorite.
Yep. One of my favorite pieces of video game music ever... :)
never came this far in the game lel. but its amazing.
The music definitely made this game.
nintendo switch online service release of this game brought me here :)
Yeah, same here :) It’s a good game!
Awesome game, soundtrack!
"Sunset" sounds alot like the Superman Theme
+Gigidag77 Yes!
One of my all time favorite games and soundtracks. Hearing it in stereo is awesome! The only thing that tops this is the version from the PS2's Rygar in that secret area! I believe it's "Paths"
I remember game to this day thanks to paths music.
Great game and music
Love your stuff, hope you don't mind me linking to you from my blog ;)
"Guru" was the best :D
Cave music is definitely the best. I wonder if it could be turned into a guitar cover?
Erduk Indeed it can.
Erduk watch?v=tPMHl-Yk-38
King Voxel If you go on the video and look at the comments, you'll notice I already found that video 3 months ago. :P
Oh yeah? Well I found that video over a year ago! :P
Check out Satellite by Guster.... inspired?
They should have made this into a movie starring the Ultimate Warrior in the 80's.
10/10 would play after finding it in the street
COOL RYGAR GOOD MUSIC

today its cave that stood out as good.
For its time, it had a complete soundtrack and the game was extensive and made you think a bit.
2:57 he's gonna take you back to the past...
Alright.
The Final Boss theme was particularly scary to me.
Yeh, Guru is exactly the same music as the intro screen for Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on NES.
i love rygar, its really a flawed masterpiece the graphics for there time are above average, the soundtrack is one of the best of the 8 bit era and the exploration and dungeons are the icing on the cake. however the fact thats theres no password or save, the many glitchs in the game aswell as a few questionable design flaws makes this a misunderstood gem.
I have a love/hate relation to this game.
Many games like that (*this is DEFINITELY not one of them **more LOVE than hate here
The ost for this game that was released in Japan contains different music for a few of the stages. Does anybody know the reason for it? I mean the music is still quite good, and sets a somewhat different tone, but it's hardly something that needed to be changed...
10:24 for TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNE
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... no, wait.
Did you beat the game?
Did you find the glitches set in the game....
Wow. #happytears I wonder how many hours of sleep I’ve traded in to beat this game, as a child. I don’t regret it @ all lol!
My favorite is the castle song.
Best boss theme
So fucking good.
Epic.
I'm not sure why, but Guru always reminded me of Misty Morning by Bob Marley! Both have that dark feel about em I guess!
The glitches was whenever you seen a foe.. You go back then return and the enemy will disappear
Are you going to upload the famicom OST to Rygar since that has alternate music?
Already had it done ;3 ua-cam.com/video/QllOiXFpigA/v-deo.html
+HappySnoutHour Really? Cool. Gotta check it out because I played the famicom version in childhood.
ok maybe not one of best soundtracks but defiantly one of my personal favorites of the 8 bit generation. i mean for an early 1987 game the soundtrack is quite large for its time with long tunes for the most part.
The second song always reminds me of the "go to sleep" song. :P
Brahms' 'Lullaby.'
@@v-town1980 thank you
16:52 you didn't give me enough time to reverse the sound of the music
nm you did :)
How has no metal band covered the "Castle" music yet?
