  • A discussion about the cost and utility of various possible improvements over a factory Tikka rifle setup. (note in the video, the 6.5cm Tikka in the black stock actually started as a "stainless lite" not a "lite" as I mistakenly say during the explanation.

That Stock CF stock looks really nice for the price
Id go with Howa 1500 carbon fiber barreled action for the same price as Tikka rifle, MDT field stock or GRS FENRIS stock, Arken EPL4, 4-16/6-24 scope for low budget, Vortex razor lht 4.5-22x50/ leupold mk4hd 4.5-18/6-24 if budget allows
if doing a full out custom build id go defiance lightweight action, proof research CF barrel and AG composite CF stock. with a Leupold MK4 4.5-18 or 6-24 scope.
The first AR15 I built was under 6.5 lb with a 13oz scope so for varminting its an option too.

Interesting build suggestions. Check out my other video where I discuss my recent 6mm CM build: MacBros Element action, 18 inch K&P Barrel installed and fluted by LRI, HNT26 Chassis with my own diy Folding stock, 2.5-10x42 NXS, Ultra7 Suppressor. Bare rifle is about 4.25lbs, scoped, suppressed, and with tripod its less than 7.25lbs. With 108eldm and N555, it does 2850fps and half moa.
It also might be worth a discussion to review the Vortex LHT and Leupold scopes you recommend. Check out the scope drop testing threads on Rokslide for some reliability info. I had a couple of those LHT scopes, and while feature packed... I was concerned about reliability during hunts, as I have had other "quality" scopes fail in the past. A warranty is worthless to me if it costs me a shot on an animal. I had a lengthy discussion with a vortex engineer over the course of a week that did not inspire confidence... and when it was clear to me that they value the concept of customer service through an excellent warranty more than building a product that is less likely to need a warranty to begin with... I returned the scopes and went back to my more trusted nightforce, trijicon, and swfa scopes.

@@ultralightoutdoors Will do . I just realized if not twisting turrets, the S&B Klassic 3-12 or 4-16 can be had under 1500 USD with the optical and mechanical performance everyone knows LOL
Trijicon Ten Miles are made by Light Optics work in Japan and stamped with Trijicon name and so is NXS and NX8 scopes. None of the NF Trijicon and SWFA has the track record that S&B has tbh. Only if they can make tactical featured scopes for less. Leica actually has their new Amplus 6 line around that price range. Zeiss conquest v4 is also made by LOW in Japan so not too much difference from those previous. There are some spooky light weight hunting scope on the leupold VX Hd lines like the VX3HD 4.5-14x40 weights like 15oz too and like you said the track record is really unknown since they are still quite new.

If you want another cheaper stock option, I recently carved up an MDT LSS chassis (cut down the forend and ground down the aluminum in non structural places to shave weight) and including my DIY stock and a folding mechanism, I'm at the same 30oz weight as an MDT HNT26 folder... but for about a third of the price.
