I think the thread is viscose /rayon(did the burning test and it's def plasticky). There are suppliers of it on aliexpress. I hope it's okay to write here (guai guai store, factory-shop). Simply search for "silk thread dmc" and they should come up. With a coupon I was able to get a price of 0,37eur a hand picked color per skein. You get 7 threads of 1,25m and that makes about 8,75m.
I just started my first HAED with these threads on 27ct Linda and the threads kept slipping under the fabric threads in weird ways so I stitch the bottom leg in basket weave stitch and usually the top stitch too. Totally great optic. It looks wonderful.

If you can, and know, what I should look out for once the piece is done stitching with washing and/ironing?
Definitely mild handwash, and for ironing, I wouldn't apply direct heat. I would put under a pillowcase and iron that way, maybe even on the back of the fabric first to see how well it comes out if it's fine, I wouldn't iron the front. And a lower heat setting as well. Thank you for the tips on the thread. I actually haven't heard of the burn, so I wouldn't have thought about that.
The copyright issue is tough, from what I can tell all these shops do it.
