Is the 2020 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club the BEST sports car ever built?

- The Miata was built by Mazda for the sole purpose of providing the most engaging driving experience. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 that is producing 181HP & mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Going the Club route allows you access to forged BBS wheels, Brembo brakes and addition aerodynamic bodywork. On the inside will find just enough space to allow you to navigate down your favorite twisty road or race track. Is the 2020 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club the best sports car ever built?

Honda dropped the ball when they killed the S2000, thank you Mazda for still producing a driving enthusiasts sports car
It’s coming back in 2024
Honda SUCKS big time. I have no idea why people still buy Honda. Honda's aren't as reliable anymore. Honda's are NOT fun. Honda's are slow and boring. At least Toyota's are bullet proof reliable, comfortable ride.
The S2000 was the only real Mx5 competitor, and yet, Honda really shit the bed. They could have had the small 2 seat, convertible sportscar market in their hands.
@@roninsanati1397 Easily could of had a awesome car with the K20 under the hood.

Still the best roadster fun to drive car on the market at any price.
Been there. Done that :)))))) Never regretted it for a moment.
Mazda Miatas in any form have been THE most boring roadsters for 25 years....Ugly, simple and boring. Give me the Z3 and Z4, Honda S2000, Porsche Boxster, etc etc etc etc .Heck, Id evn take a Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice in a pinch..
I have the 2016 version. Literally the best car I've ever driven in my life. The miata family is such a welcoming and awesome family of drivers.
That is so very awesome! Thanks for sharing that from your experience!
Agreed. I owned a 93 then an 09 NC2. Amazing cars, I actually liked them better than my current 370Z, even though the Z is much faster. But I've already had to replace the transmission and clutch in it at 59k miles... Mazdas are just so much more reliable than Nissan. And yes anyone within the Miata community are great people who have the best thing in common, they all love driving. I only owe $6500 left on my Z (started at 31k...) and I'm seriously thinking of going back to Miata before I run into more issues. I just missed that wind in my hair, the 50-50 weight distribution, always had a smile on my face.
@@Hugs_4_Bugs_ you should definitely consider it. Every miata driver i bump into in traffic is either honking or waving at each other every single time. Great energy

My mother in law is 61 and drives her Miata everywhere here in Florida. She puts on her make-up and takes down her Blonde hair ONLY when she is in the Miata. The car brings out a different person in her. So if you are ever in the Central Florida area and you see a Cougar wirh blonde hair in a red Miata, that's my Mom-in-law.

Love my 2019 , last car was an FR-S so my cars are getting smaller and smaller! I drive a tractor trailer for a living so going from up to 80,000 lbs fully loaded down to 2,300 is funny. It’s a riot though feels faster than the FR-S . I highly recommend the Borla axle back , deeper sound less buzzy and looks like stock except the tips are cut at an angle. I went with the basic sport model at 10 grand less it’s the best deal out there for top down fun!

My wife and I have owned two Mazda Miatas -NB and nc models . they are super reliable and feel like you're driving on Rails. can't wait to get a 2019 are newer with the new upgrades to the engine and suspension. This was by far the best review I have seen on the MX-5/Miata. Keep them coming I look forward to seeing more of your reviews.
You had my heart pounding through those twisty bits.
I am so glad that I could share it with you!
I test drove the first version of the ND model and it was a blast, I can't imagine how much better it is now with those extra horses. That was the only problem with the early model NDs in my opinion
1990 Miata NA first came out, I'm driving a sweet red one home, cop pulls me over, says he though it was a Ferrari. Then he gives me a juicy ticket because I didn't have the front license bolted on, since it ruined the air flow (and looks). Since the tickets were cheap if you fixed it but really expensive if you didn't, I put the license on. In the real world some jurisdictions require big, squat, rectangular, front license plates and the Miata design never really considered that. Maybe the plastic valence on the grill on this latest model allows it a bit but not really, it'll block a significant flow. Happily I never drove in desert temperatures. But it would be great if the designs reflected the necessity a little more so it doesn't look tacked on as an after thought.
Finally a convertible. Yesss. I’m definitely getting this
I’d honestly be so happy if I ever had that car. I love the sound and looks of the mx5. Your videos are always amazing!!keep up the good work 👍🏼👍🏼
That really means a lot Taylor! I am so glad that I could take you for the ride!
Yea I have the white 2017 RF, the transmission is the best manual I’ve ever driven, with an OEM short shifter because it comes like that and a very light clutch. Only problem is that through 2018 it only makes 155hp which for the price is just a little bit pitiful, but after 2019 the upgraded power output makes it a perfect little roadster
Thanks for sharing that great input and perspective!
I don't know, with cars like the Veloster N for the same cost I think Mazda should step up their game.
Plus if you live in the right area you could a base Mustang GT for same price.
That 181hp and peak power at 7k is so lively!!!!!
I totally agree with you!

Daniel Kim I’m 6’4” and fit in the NDs (I have this exact car he’s driving)
I’m also a skinny guy, so the Recaro’s don’t bother me at all, but I’ve heard the leather seats favor bigger /taller people

@@RaitisRides and I'm looking forward to that 2020 forerunner SR5 review in the future
Hi Joe!! Thanks for your dedication! I really enjoy your detailed reviews. But a couple of things...I don’t think you mentioned the MX5’s weight; it’s 2335, give or take. Also, on the Brembo pkg., the rear binders are Miata’s. The hood and trunk lid are aluminum. The trans is all new as of ‘’19, it’s 15% lighter than the one it replaces. The MX-5 has its own unique platform. Unlike most cars, which work off a company’s “global platform “ that it shares with other models, the MX5’s is all it’s own, meticulously designed for 52/48 weight distribution and aluminum suspension and chassis bits for light weight. All this accounts for its price. But it’s worth every dime! And your reviews are priceless! You are obviously passionate about cars. And UA-cam is a much better place because of you.
Not only are the hood and trunk aluminum but also the front fenders and the upper rear fenders too. The doors and other steel panels are galvanized.

I cant believe you didn't mention a key feature of the MX-5 when you had the hood open and it was staring us in the face - the engine is BEHIND the front wheels - making it a mid-engine car. Front mid-engine yes, but you can argue that with the weight of the driver already towards the back, that is the perfect configuration. I have an 2021 MX-5 RF, what I love about the Canadian version is that I was able to get the GT trim with the red leather seats and upgraded cabin look (such as chrome climate knobs) but I was also able to get the Grandsport package included. The brembo breaks are amazing! The BBS rims are also a master peice, the only thing I'm missing is the front splitter amd the side stills and diffuser, will get these in the spring as it gives the car such a sharp look. 181hp is fast enough, and allows you to constantly floor it without ending up in a hot speed pursuit with the cops 😅.
Loving my 2019 MX-5 RF GT. Best bang for the buck. First thing one should do if getting this car is remove the sound tube from the engine into the cab. There is absolutely no reason to pipe the sound into the cab. Buy a cheap delete kit, and you are good to go. That's my only zonk.

Bought an MX-5 Club last week. Age (72) and health (prostate cancer) forced me to finally get rid of my Harley. I chose NOT to get the Brembo/Recaro/BBS package. I test drove an MX-5 with them, and my linebacker-style body (wide rib cage and broad shoulders) came back from the test drive absolutely hating the Recaros. The stock seats are not the best (driven nothing but Audis for past 20 years, so I'm spoiled), but they are way better for my build than the Recaros. Otherwise, I am in love with this car. It brings me back to my teenage years with 60s era British sports cars. Bravo, Mazda!
