Dr... THAT'S MY MACHINE! Not only did I build those GE Scanners in the factory for 10 years, I also maintain them now for my hospital network! Thank you so much for all you do. I shared this with all of my Biomed friends to give them a better idea of why I do what I do :)
Are you for real?
@@kukariondee3196 yes, this is not literally my machine, but these are the machines I work on everyday. However, depending on the age, I could have assembled and tested this machine.
Thanks for helping save lives.
Are the magnetic nanoparticles in the contrast dye harmful 🤔
Wow cool! Thank you for your "service" !
I'm grateful for people that cares for people thankyou
Thank you! I am scheduled for this procedure next week and you made me feel better as to what to expect .... thus easing my nervousness.
How Did your scan go, what was it like?
how did your scan go. I doing the same in one month. Thanks
@@123rogersk My scan went well...it was not as invasive as I thought...just IV and then lay there and let the machine do the work......nothing was found (which was a relief!)
Im doing this tomorrow will tell you how it goes
@@jdray_4 how'd it go?
I am waiting my ct-scan, so thank you for this valuble lesson.
Thank you for telling us what can be derived from this test. Doctors just schedule the tests but don’t tell us what they are looking for or what the test will tell them.
Thank you. Very informative. I appreciate being able to get knowledge before the test to reduce the stress of not knowing what is happening and why.
Very well explained! Def subscribed, thank you. I didn’t have a good experience made me very nervous and panicked…
@Dr. Pradip Jamnadas you look so different w/o your facial hair!!! I've had two CCTA's , both showing zero blockages. They were done because I had chest pain, which was determined to be unrelated to the heart. My cardiologist only reported to me on the zero blockages, not all the other possibilities. Maybe because nothing else showed. My Dad had ASHD and passed at the age of 57 from a clot in the aorta. His mother passed from cardiac arrest, as did my half brother. So I want to be sure I'm not next in line, lol.
Your taking the time to explain this to us is greatly appreciated.
I'm scheduled for this test next Friday, and I was a little worried about it because my doctor wants me to take medication two days before the test to slow down my heart (metoprolol 25 MG). I don't like the idea of slowing down my heart; I don't want any problems with it speeding back up. lol This video has helped a lot. Thank you for taking the time to explain the benefits of having this done.
What sort of heart disease you have?
Same that’s what I’m scared of I’m afraid the my blood pressure will get to low and kill me then what what if I don’t get to the hospital in time of somthing was to happen so I think ima call and tell them I rather do a nuclear stress test that way I’m in the hospital if somthing happens
great job explaining this procedure and it's diagnostic abilities.
Excellent description of the procedure and reasoning behind it. Articulate, descriptive and comprehensive. Thank you!
Very informative, Doc! Thanks!
You are welcome!
Thank you doctor. Very clear explanation.❤
I'm here because i have this procedure early Monday morning here in Australia.
Very well explained! But why still a 64 slice scanner in US, when 256 slice is becoming normal in India? Further, it would have been better if you had included an original scan at the end of the video!
1) Pure Economics
2) Demographic Advantage
I got to go for a CAT scan of my heart because when I take a deep breath it hurts I hope I’m all right.
Have heart palps discovered 8 years ago when taking an exercise class...high heart palps (tachycardia) upon moderate physical exertion and low heart rate (bradycardia)....transitioning to a new cardiologist...will redo the echocardio and a zio patch...pcp suggested asking cardio for a CT angio given both sides of the family had heart disease...so scared...sniff sniff.....
Were you able to get the test done and how do you feel?
Very informative thanks 😊
Radiation varies from machine to machine, there are plenty of places using older machines that give off way more radiation,, so, do your research and make sure you choose a place that has a newer low dose machine
Truth. Not many places want to tell you if their machine only emits when at the right point in the EKG, if it dual scans, etc.
Thanks for information.From India
very organized video. my dad just had a stress test which was not clear. now we have to get an angiogram however I belive now that perhaps this might have been a better 1st option. Wish I knew about a CT angiogram. how different is it from traditional angiogram?
Traditional CT is like taking pictures and this new technology is like taking videos and allow one to see it 3 dimensionally.
Hi
I think the stress test is the preliminary test and then if needed the CT angiogram is performed so this is not unusual. I am not able to run on a treadmill to do a stress test so the specialist is sending me straight for the CT angiogram. My husband had an angiogram done in the early 1980s and I think they inserted a camera through a vein in the groin area.
GREAT QUESTION!
I get to have one of these yearly now to follow my aorta aneurysm!
Thanks for this. I’m 43 and suffering from ED and wondering if my doctor will order this test for me. I seem and feel healthy but something tells me there is an issue in my cardiovascular system or circulation somewhere 😢
My baby will under Go this test before her Glenn shunting open heart surgery... She's 2 years old
How is you baby? I am praying for her.
Thanks for this. I'm scheduled for one next week and wanted to know what it entailed first. Appreciate this.
How did it go? I'm having it in 2 days. 🙏
Well explained, thanks
Hi Doctor will the contrast has any side effects?
Well done my friend!!
fantastic video. thank you for the way you present the material. VERY helpful!
Thank you. Im having this Tuesday April 9, 2024 then April 10 i have cardiac ablation for persistant afib with rvr. I sure hope the dr can help me. Thank you for this video. ❤I am a bit nervous about the contrast due to some allergic reaction to 4 antibiotics, one severe and I was hospitalized a week. 🙏
How did it go for you?
Yes how did it go with the dye. I'm concerned cause I remember when I had it before I felt as tho I was burning.. please let me know. I have one on Sept 30. Thanks
Excelente video Dr. Thank you for sharing. By the way, My cardiologist recommended that I start taking TRINOMIA - in preparation for a catheterism. What do you think ?... It Supposes to help clean somewhat the coronaries or prevent depositing calcium in the arteries.
Alternative for the dye?
what symptoms would you have to have before you needed this scan??
Very informative video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I'm sure it puts alot of people at ease about having the scan.
Dr.J l was told that an ultrasound could detect arterial damage is this True?. If Not l will get a c t scan.pleaz reply. Thank You.
Thank you for easing my anxiety! Unfortunately I've been dealing with blackouts that doctors can't seem to figure out so I'll be having this test next month!
I am dealing with the same thing they don't know why and I some times can't walk straight I fall back or walk side ways, been getting chest pain alot I just had my cat scan Friday waiting to hear from Dr they said most likely by Monday
@@sweetgalcindy did they use contrast with your cat scan? Do the contrast damage the kidneys?
@AW I don't know if it did or not I have so many health problems I couldn't tell you, I just went yesterday to the Drs for my MGUS and have to go now on the 23rd for another CT scan with contrast on my left leg bones. Been having problems. I said I'll soon be my own glow in the dark night light lol , I don't think they use enough to hurt you or why would they give me so many scans with it right ?? 🤔.
Great information
Good video thanks.
Thank you for comforting me for this test because today I did the stress test and couldn't exert myself very tired.
what is the side effects of the dye you push before the CT Angio? is it pulled back after test?
You pee it out
What's the Cash Self Pay amount for scan ????
Which is better in diagnosing coronary artery disease,CT angiogram or traditional angiography?
Of course that traditional one. But for Ct is superior in non-invasive procedure.
Had CT done in 2011 when it was fairly new are there any innovations to this procedure since then?Tx.
If I had a stress test, why would I need a CTA Scan?
What happens if you cannot take the contrast dye because you are allergic to it...........I would like to have this test and where can I get it done if my cardiologist hasn't recommended it. Thank you so much.
You need to watch the whole video
Thanks
Great video! I'm a first year medical student and found this very helpful. TY!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful! Best of luck with your studies!
Very inspiring that a new bread of MD's will be treating my kids and grandkids...Dr. P gets it! Our food, the "FOOD" the establishment tells us to eat, lack of movement and watching tv is killing us. My Grandpa had us on Green Drinks, whole foods and to never buy anything from the Grocery (DEATH) Store!!! Sir Ct angiography test ke liye koi aisa contrast nahi hai jisse kidney kharab na ho
I had contrast about 10 years ago on my lumbar spine with the dye. I remember when they put the contrast in my arm, my heart started to beat fast, I was flushed and it was an awful feeling. Is this the same dye they will use for a CTA scan? I need to get the CTA but I am scared because of this dye.
Perhaps you can do a CT CAC (Calcium) test to start with. No dye is required.
@@alwynpereira7363 I did have this test and my result was a 3.

How did it go? I'm also scared of the dye.

Why did my CTA of coronaries show 80 percent of my circ? Went to carb lab....RCA dissected. That’s an emergency. Next the LAD also clogged very hard to cross. How did this happen. I’m a Heart Transplant nurse.. I’m know dummie

Dear Sir
Your video was very truely very 4:21 important for me. I want to go through a complete diagnosis of my heart in India. Would you please suggest me which hospital have modern CT Scanner for Heart and have renowned cardiologist ? Masud
May I know the accuracy of this test in comparison to traditional angiography? How often do we need to this CT Angiography ? Any side effects ? Thanks.
Sorry, I had to give this one a thumbs down. Dr. Jamnadas is obviously a good doctor and knows what he is talking about, but English is not his first language, and understanding what he is saying requires focus and concentration. The problem is he covers up his speech with "music" making it impossible to hear what he is saying.
God bless u sir
Doc, can you please explain the radiation risk of CT scan? Thank you so much...
You mentioned if you're allergic to contrast then you pre-medicate the patient. What does pre-madicate mean exactly?
I heard that 200ml contrast dye is injected versus 20ml in conventional angiography? Is this true doctor?
Dr. I have a concern about digesting the dye. Please discuss?
You discussed about calcium score...will this be enough for the same test.
Sir I did a 320 ct renal angiogram kub with contrast when I was very young. Like 18 in 2014. Can you please let me know what will be my approx radiation exposure. Just curious
Doctor i hv a stent since a year and now am possibly having some blockage. Would you prefer i take a standard Angiogram or a CT Angiogram ? Does the contrast cause any side effects especially to BP ?
I did Dr CT angiography heart last 2 month is normal. Are this is accurate result and CT angiography heart tells us accurate result etc? Or other great value non invasive test Is available?
Does you had high cholesterol
Hi
Hi
hi
Hello
Do you have to use nitroglycerin I am scared of it!
Seriously.... People don't realize or understand the risks of the contrast dye. Check Norris's wife has massive problem to an allergic reaction from what I hear.
Are u sindhi ?
It's a frickin' money machine to clean up your wallet.
How does this compare with catheterization? The catheterization scares the shit out of me
Isn't calcium in the blood controlled by Calcitonin, or does the calcium pass through the heart first before it becomes "controlled" 🤔🤔
Dr,you are so helpful.thank you
What is the actual radiation exposure level?
Thank you so much, can a ct angiopraphy look inside a stent?
no
I’m scheduled to do this tomorrow. I wonder why they want me to be there 1.45 hours prior?
Probably just to make sure you are not rushing to get there at the last minute, which would raise your heart rate. I had the test a little over a week ago and my cardiologist urged me to leave plenty of time to get there so I wouldn't be stressed. They want your heart rate to be no more than 60 beats per minute, and will give you a drug to slow it down if necessary. If it is necessary, it may take time for the drug to work, but it wasn't necessary in my case.
Is CTA useful in identifying and as a follow up measure for Ectasia
I should be very interested to know why you say cryptically "in today's world more and more patients are going to be getting a CT scan". Why is that?
Is that because people are tending to live longer? the technology is becoming more acucrate and useful? becoming cheaper? more people are having heart problems? doctors and cardiologists are more aware of early warning symptoms? people are making more money out of it even if its not necessary? a combination of various of these factors??
I'd be intrigued by an answer to that question
Does it have as much radiation as a normal ct?
I'm scheduled for one this coming
Wednesday and your video was reassuring and informative. Thank you.
I'm thinking of getting a scan how was it for you
@@eddkennedy6458 It was ok, not bad at all.
Each video I watch convinces me a bit more I need to become your patient. I am not getting this kind of care. I see my cardiologist every six months and take all the pills and I never feel better. I experience my angina at the exact epicenter of my attacks, the left arm between the bicep and triceps where there is a cluster of nerves and such. I can still feel it from the outside, it feels like I'm pressing on a bruise. I get pain I assume is my body's version of angina at that point when I over exert myself, when I am underhydrated and exert myself, and during some anxiety episodes. I have edema. I can feel circulation problems in my legs. I have varicose veins and broken capillaries. It has been this way since my first cardiac episode in 2009.
Your arm pain is a referred pain that comes from the heart. It is because of low nerve density in our internal organs and the messages got mixed up at spinal cord level.
I pray that you get better
I had this done yesterday. Quick and simple. I did have an issue with my IV but the scan itself was ok. I'm supposed to hear the results today. On pins and needles.
How did you go?

What happened to you?

I just got scheduled for one Due to a very high calcium score 6 years ago.
Is it scary or make your heart feel funny?
What contrast is used? I am allergic to iodine.
209 calcium score, 59yo. Dr had me do a nuke stress test and I "passed". After seeing this video yesterday, today I insisted on this CTA and I am scheduling it next week. Thanks!
I am 59 with calcium score of 11 and my
Dr’s comment was “ it’s not a 0, so I want the 3D scan instead of a stress test” I go next week.
Do you get your results?
@jenniferbross1211 To be honest with you, I am responding to this from a hospital bed, waiting on bypass surgery in 4 days. The CTA showed severe plaque, and then a cath showed major blockages that requires bypass.
@@danc3746 sorry to hear but happy they found out on time. You will do great. Praying for a speedy recovery. Hang in there!
@@danc3746How are you doing? Please update when you're able to.
What's the radiation exposure? And how do we combat the possible side effects?
He says the radiation is lower than a nuclear stress test but what he isn't telling is that the radiation from one CT = approx 100 standard X-rays
