All the tailgate features you noted with the exception on the power close are available on the Gen 2. Seems like you have low optioned Raptor for your Gen 2.
I know that Ford may not be the most luxurious vehicles out there but if there is one thing that they do extremely well is their exterior lighting. When I see these lights at night, they are just so crisp and bright.
20:08 is part of ford blue cruise autonomous driving system, there’s also two cameras located on either end where the hazard switch is to monitor driver eyes when blue cruise active. Blue cruise is subscription based and on select roads or highways.
That "thing" you were wondering about is one of the two Blue Cruise sensors. that one to the left of the steering wheel, on the driver's side door and the second sensor is on the dash, top right of the screen. You can drive hands free BUT those two sensors are watching your eyes to make sure you have your eyes on the road.
Ford did a good job improving the exhaust sound. These things remain so capable. 450 hp is plenty for a truck especially considering the significant torque.
The little thing you referenced on the driver's side windshield pilar is actually a camera, so you can be watched for safety reasons. When I was ordering my 2022 Raptor my sales rep told me what it was. I have a 2017 that will have 100K miles on it soon and it has never been in the shop.
Am I the only person who thinks the Gen 2 Raptor has the best front and back headlight design? 🤔 It looks more aggressive and flashy the new front and back headlights look to plain and small
Excellent review - tons of information packed into an entertaining and digestible package. Awesome action shots and great commentary. This really is one incredible truck, particularly with the 37s. Love the updates and especially the new exhaust, which finally matches the Raptor’s personality.
After owning a 2016 F165 for 5 years. I gotten used to the 2.7 aka 165 cuin twin turbo v6 sound. I have 81k miles and both of my turbos are good. My last fill up was 19 mpg mix driving. I used HP Tuner to raise my top speed to 120 mph. My stop/start does not work anymore. No I did not turn it off.
Concise, focused and hella informative 👍🏾💪🏾. Thanks for making this one bro! I’m currently in a Gen 2 18 looking to pull the trigger soon on Gen 3 but wanting to see the Raptor R first.
I love that truck they did a great job my 14 has about 130 thousand miles on her I like the ecoboost it's a reliable engine so maybe when the dealer mark up goes down and shit goes back to normal im thinking in about 2 years if it's smooth sailing till than we should be good I'd take that one on 37s over the trex any day .
Another great review, as always! And what a beautiful truck! I've been looking this over, and as tempting as it would be to get the Performance 37 Gen 3 Raptor, I'd likely stick to the 35 Gen 3 Raptor, as long as it still came with the springs rather than leafs. It's funny though, what really stands out to 59 year old me, that foldable flat worksurface in the front center console. That would be so incredibly useful to me. Frankly, I saw your 2021 Cadillac Escalade review, and almost got one. Had it had that foldable flat work surface in the front center console, I probably would have. Actually, the 22" wheels on the Escalade worried me some, so I'd still have had to figure out if I could get it with 20"ers. Don't have that problem with these Raptors. And from what I am hearing, the Gen 3 especially drives incredibly smooth on the highways as well. Wish it had the Platinum's massaging and fully reclining seats, oh well, nothing's perfect, but this Raptor looks pretty darn close. Love your reviews, and love this truck! Thumbs up, once again!
6:20 The Gen 2 actually feels like a Raptor because it’s huge. And the interior still feels modern and the touch screen is fine, in the 14th Gen F-150 they just made the screen bigger but we almost don’t look at it because we are driving.
The Gen 2 did have the tailgate step option. Likely what happened was whoever built the Gen 2 chose not to add that $500 option and neither did I when I built my 2019 Raptor. It's really not useful, especially when considering how much the option is.
Bro alot of those features on the gen 3 I have on my gen 2 lmao. You just don't have a very optioned out gen 2 no offense meant. Also the production quality on this video is damn good man you guys do some good work!
First time watching your videos and I subscribed. You put so much effort into the video. I truly hope your channel blows up, and it will as long as you keep up the same energy and level of detail. Excited to see where this channel goes. Cheers!
I love the mean and modern look of the old version , that looks sexier than the newer version for some reason , i wish the newer version had the front of the older version 😍😍😍
For more of the extreme guys a gen 2 would still be better, people will find the rear 5 link layout will be extremely limiting when it comes to adding rear travel. The ability to plug in Long travel leafs and cut the bed and run a 18" shock, with out redesiging the rear suspension design. But stock for stock the 3rd Gen will be a better design
Still rockin' my first gen '12 SCrew, in great shape and runs like a top....gonna run it into the ground. ...plus I can't afford $100K plus for a new one up here in Canuckistan.
The 2019 Raptor has the tail gate step - I find it hard to believe the 2020 doesn’t. It is optional - not standard if that’s what you mean. The stickers on the front and rear are a waste of money, imo. The rear suspension change and 37” look awesome!
A lot of the stuff you were saying in the beginning about the 2020 wasn't right. They do have a full 360 "birds eye" camera as well as offering the tailgate step
4:04 The tailgate step and railing is available on all F-150s and Raptors as an option. To say it's not offered is incorrect. That checkbox wasn't selected when that particular 2020 Raptor was built-out on the order sheet. Very misleading.
the small thing on the door frame i gues are active drive assist, uses a driver facing camera and infrared lightning to monitor your eyes and head position,to detect if you are distracted.
That little thing is for the Blue Cruise system that will implement the self driving feature, such as your Tesla. I’m not sure when the download will be available, but it should be soon.
So proud of Ford Australia who designed and engineered Ford Ranger and the Gen 3 Raptor is hopefully my car in 2022. Ranger is #2 car in Australia, NextGen 3 Ranger will go #1 in Australia.
That black thing on the door is a sensor that watches your eyes in a way. If you're using its "self driving" feature then it'll make sure you're looking at the road and hands are on the wheel
Good video with the exception of your crazy MPG figures between this and the TRX. They are only 3 MPG different as proven by TFL truck in a apples to apples driving scenario.
So regarding that "sensor window" on the front of the drivers door.....I don't know what it is, but I believe the Owners Manual is loaded into the center console info panel/Nav/Head unit??
Have very basic f150, doesn’t have any vents on the back, only under seats. But the AC is still powerful enough to cool down temperature in hot Florida summers. My fancy bmw X5 has vents all over the place, and not even close to f150.
Which one looks better? The Gen 2 or the new Gen 3?
*EDIT: Yes, the step tailgate is offered on the 2nd generation. Mistakes were made.
Gen 3 for sure!!
Seeing a 2020 on the road led me to ask, "Is that a Raptor?" However, with the 2022, there is no question
Gen 2 is a million times better lmao
Surround view camera available on both.
All the tailgate features you noted with the exception on the power close are available on the Gen 2. Seems like you have low optioned Raptor for your Gen 2.

I have never been a fan of trucks... until NOW, this Raptor has caught my attention 🔥

Yep! you are right! I have 2017 Raptor. I keep my truck.
Who's watching you in your own vehicle?
@@American_Muscle_Truck Uncle Sam is who is watching.
@@ROGER98SS that's what I was worried about
Cameras so that the driver & pasangers can be watched? Is that really true? Does it have to be included? 🤔

100k+
Agreed
Nooooo gen 3 looks soooo much more aggressive
Yes.
I’m with you👍

The Raptor is simply fantastic and stragely attractive which most trucks can't do.
I had a big smile when I heard the sound for 2022.
Joined the family at 81k subscribers now we're at 93k, I'm proud of the progress
Thanks so much Lucas! Glad to have you on board.
Are you mentioning that these are options on the 2nd gen? My 2017 gen 2 has the tailgate step
The edit deserves a lot of credit. Great work guys!

Great video!!! One of the better videos on the Gen 3 Raptor! 👍 for being in Ontario Canada! I can't wait for my 2022 Raptor!
The 37"s make it look so good
They make it slower too
I don't know what I like more, the car or the review!
Just bought this truck. I love it!

They do. my 2020 has a tailgate step.
i dont know where from you get your raptor 2020 ... i have a raptor 2020 an i have nearly all the features in the 2022 !!!!
The 37” tires look perfect on the truck. It makes the 35” tires look small and undersized!
You're so fun! Instant sub 💯👏
Awesome review vid!
Damn bruhh, I was debating about getting the new Raptor, and this video convinced me!!!
Very good presentation about gen 3 raptor
A lot of the stuff you were saying in the beginning about the 2020 wasn't right. They do have a full 360 "birds eye" camera as well as offering the tailgate step
Correction...Gen2 did have the steps as an option. No difference in design. I have a 21 and had a 20 both with steps. Great video otherwise.
Me too! Have the 2018 gen 2 and my package came with the step down tailgate
yes, my 2nd gen 2018 has it too.
2020 also has surround camera.
wow and i was thinking of getting the 2020 ford raptor because i didn’t see a difference but you have changed my mind

the look of the red truck is just killing , way better than the white one.
It would be hard to choose but the 2022 would be the best pick honestly 👍
Worth your effort Bro, I like this review

Except for the newest Ranger,Ford Australia's cars are ugly,The dismantling of Ford Europe is a pity
The 2nd Gen also has 360 camera... as well as a tailgate step.
My dream truck. May be I have to wait a little while and buy a slightly used one. I really love this car.
That's one of the sensors on the inside driver's mirror panel for the Ford Blue Cruise Autonomous Driving.
maybe that red plastic red in the door may be part of the IR alarm system.
I like how excited you get when you drive it
That black thing on the door is a sensor that watches your eyes in a way. If you're using its "self driving" feature then it'll make sure you're looking at the road and hands are on the wheel

Very nice presentation 👍🏻
You are eccentric like me.. Almost like you're talking to yourself, but not exactly. Great content! Thanks for giving an in depth look at both trucks!
Anyone mention the oil slick on the flowing water coming from underneath the truck @ 8:33? Smooth as Butter:)
Smooth as butter!

the black glass cover in the door is a face recognition camera. it will detect if you are tired or just not looking forward...
