This model Raptor actually seemed to sound decent. I haven't heard one in person that I like but maybe Ford got it right. If I ever have to upgrade my Ranger Tremor, I would love the Raptor but worry about it's width on trails. F150 Tremor would likely do it for me.
I cannot justify $82K for any vehicle no matter how many goodie’s is has. The average person like me could not touch a vehicle like this . More power to those who can.

Great review; this is my favorite car channel. The truck is nice, but not my speed: too big, too expensive, too "full time lit" character for "rare, extreme needs". Case in point: I think Road & Track noted that the orange grille lights are DOT required clearance lights because it's so wide/folks might not realize there's a whole truck between each head light.
No idea, but as he never mentioned it, it is probably just an led light, that is out of sink with the camera speed. Like when the wheels look like they are going backwards.
They are infrared lights. Those are for the Blue Cruise autonomous driving system. When equipped, those will illuminate the driver in IR light and cameras will monitor the driver to make sure they are paying attention when the vehicle is driving itself.

My Current F150 is is very limiting on trails due to not only the size, but also the terrible outward visibility. It’s a capable and stable towing platform, but if you don’t tow, it’s just a pain in the ass.
Yeah full sizes are definitely wide, especially like this where it's been stretched and flared even further. I completely agree, if i didnt have towing aspirations, I would not have my F-150. It's just big.

That's not what you do with the Raptor, though it's still capable of dealing with mud. You had to drive it on a desert trail at 90-100 mph as I did on Gen II. That was the most reckless and still very safe, well-controlled and fun drive in my life.
I bet if you aired down to 20 to 25psi instead of leave it in the mid to hi 30s, you would of did a lot better for the last part. Those bead capable wheels will do fine at that pressure.
Part of his review is doing the testing stock tire pressure. He does this on all of his reviews and mentions that lower pressures would likely help but it wouldn't be a level playing field

I have a 1992 f150 on a stock frame boxed with 4 corner long travel suspension the original steel rims painted military green along with the rest of the truck has a 1.9 tdi turned up to 250hp and 450ft pounds of torque 3:55 gears 6 speed manual with slightly taller mud looking tires All of this for 10k and yes ive jumped it
Sounds like a fun rig! How does the small TDI pull when you want to get on it a bit? Always listed after a TDI swapped Wrangler or Tacoma or something but never thought to try and put one in a full size.
@@ALMX5DP I put it on a 1992 f150 chassis because its lighter with the short bed I also didn't put very big axles in and the tires are 33s I can put a much taller tire on only issue is I like the steel rims because I want the truck to look like a old military truck. It weighs 5325 pounds I rebuilt the engine and put better rods in because of the torque the engine makes will bend the stock rods and the tdi is very effect engine and very light weight for a diesel is how I get my mpg. It depends on if I floor it in 2wd or 4wd haven't done a 0-60 yet It does do burnouts easily in 2wd

And do you think the 37 runs as smooth and quiet and comfortable as the 35, especially on the highway, are they similar, or is one better than the other in that regard? And lastly, do you know if real snow tires, not just snowflake rated all terrains, but real snow tires, are available in the after market in the right size for either or both the 37 or 35 Raptor? You cannot get these with max recline seats since these are off-road seats, they’re catered towards sports performance over comfort (although they’re very comfortable). For how big the 37s are, they pretty much make no noise and hum. These are 3 peak rated for severe snow. Of course, they’re not as good as dedicated snow tires but since they’re so big, they just go over anything. I’ve driven over a foot of snow with no problem. These are made for all terrain, all season and I think they’re really good.
Glad you said "it's one more thing that can break" because....face it this is 80k worth of breaks. That's all these new vehicles are. We now live in a society of "we'll get you 60-100k and you'll trade it in for the next one".

Changing modes and just flooring it everything doesn’t change anything. Probably could have made it up no problem if you just took the brick off the accelerator.

Ford has done a great job on updating the gen 2 vehicle. One major fault is the digital speedo & tach with bar graphs on the outer perimeter. Looks horrible, cheap and aren't as easily read as pure analog gauges. The least they could have done is to include pure analog instruments as one of the options!!! This truck is a beast. Thanks for sharing!!
Love your content. However, I am rather frugal, and I am also curious. What is the average household income for the ford raptor buyer or a car over $45,000?
I turn 30 next month, have 3 kids and paid off my 2017 Raptor last year. I made an average of $105k over the last five years. It was tighter than I wanted as my down payment was almost completely eradicated by medical expenses, but we made it happen. I would say most of the Raptor owners I've met make $90k+, with a good deal of them having plenty of spending money (either from age or big salaries).
This isn't for the average guy....this truck is a toy and status symbol. Buying this truck is like buying a BMW or Mercedes to truck owners. This truck represents an elite group. Don't let the F150 badge fool you.
Trouble is most people buying trucks now are for toys and status symbols...they don't tow, and they don't work with their trucks, its all about hey look at me I have this over-priced useless family sedan with this weird trunk with no lid on it that I over-paid for. I'd rather just have a base model 4x4 maybe add the rear locker and that's it. Then again I use my trucks as trucks....and this new Raptor gets almost as bad of fuel economy as the 460 V8 in my F250 gets...pretty pathetic truck they're building when everything is supposed to so much about fuel economy and the environment, they go and build that Raptor and then only put a turbo V6 in it what a joke. Should have got a crate 460 and thrown in it and added a super charger...probably would have gotten the same or slightly better fuel economy. It would help if they wouldn't have thrown those heavy huge tires on it that 99% of buyers will never need, and probably sell the truck when they wear out the tires when they realize they're like $2500 to replace them.
@@wildbill23c this is an average guys mentality.....they have a fx4 package for ya bruh with a 5.0. There is a truck for ya if you don't want to pay. Trucks have been daily drivers for over 15 years especially in Texas. A lot of people will get the raptor bcuz of what its capable of, what it means in the truck world, how smooth it drives and the fun factor. There isn't a difference when people buy track focused cars and never going to the track in it.
I don't know if you're just joking or if you really don't know how to drive because it seems to me that you're just trying to get the truck stuck every time that the truck gets moving. You will stop just keep the momentum and keep going the truck wouldn't be stuck if you knew how to actually drive in the dirt or mud

Yea they added a loop to the exhaust that equals the lengths from the cylinder banks and now it sounds proper and not droning.
Totally agree about the enclosed-top-Bronco! I want one, but I'd much prefer a quieter cabin that's fully enclosed with a sunroof.

It doesn't have the 2kW ProPower option, but you get the upgraded engine. From the looks, you lose 3 MPG with the V8.

My guess is that they are some type of infrared sensors that only the camera was able to see.

Then again I use my trucks as trucks....and this new Raptor gets almost as bad of fuel economy as the 460 V8 in my F250 gets...pretty pathetic truck they're building when everything is supposed to so much about fuel economy and the environment, they go and build that Raptor and then only put a turbo V6 in it what a joke. Should have got a crate 460 and thrown in it and added a super charger...probably would have gotten the same or slightly better fuel economy. It would help if they wouldn't have thrown those heavy huge tires on it that 99% of buyers will never need, and probably sell the truck when they wear out the tires when they realize they're like $2500 to replace them.
@@wildbill23c this is an average guys mentality.....they have a fx4 package for ya bruh with a 5.0. There is a truck for ya if you don't want to pay. Trucks have been daily drivers for over 15 years especially in Texas. A lot of people will get the raptor bcuz of what its capable of, what it means in the truck world, how smooth it drives and the fun factor. There isn't a difference when people buy track focused cars and never going to the track in it.

I don't know if you're just joking or if you really don't know how to drive because it seems to me that you're just trying to get the truck stuck every time that the truck gets moving. You will stop just keep the momentum and keep going the truck wouldn't be stuck if you knew how to actually drive in the dirt or mud

As far as i know the shocks are the same “FOX3” but 37 inch you will lose the tire travel
can't get these and dealers being told They don't have enough parts to build a car with a 37 package if you order one till the third quarter 2022
