Hurst Strong-Arm VS War-Lock! Testing a New Tool
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 кві 2024
- Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, I get to perform a quick test of a Hurst Strong-Arm, which is on loan to us from Sentinel Emergency Solutions, LLC., out of St. Louis, MO. The Hurst Strong-Arm, is, basically a smaller version of a "combi-tool" used by fire and emergency crews. A "combi-tool" is able to cut or spread, rather than having to have two separate tools, a cutter and a spreader. Anyway, this tool is currently on our new Emergency Response & HazMat Unit. We need to see what it will do before taking it out in the field. How will it fare against this tough War-Lock padlock??? Thank you, God, for blessing our family and our business. Watch as we continue to receive God's blessings. There is much more to come!!! I hope you enjoy this video!!!
We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

My common analogy, "there are many ways to reach 10". I could have approached this (any) job several different ways. The approach method is important, but more important is achieving the desired result, safely.
Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

that has to be the first MasterLock I've seen ever to put up a decent fight
I'm betting some sharper cutting edges/more hardened cutter in the jaws would have changed that but it's not designed for cutting locks haha so to be expected.
Well, there is always THAT one lock where you think: "Geez, i busted DOZENS of your type before, and not a single one was as god damn stubborn as you right now! BREAK ALREADY!!!" XD
Only because he didn't hit it with another masterlock.
“This is the Ron Pratt Operator, and today I have a common master lock normally found on shipping containers. The strong arm seems to have no trouble getting this lock open, I would do it again to prove it wasn’t a fluke but the lock is unable to be replaced”
You sound like someone who watches the lock picking lawyer as well lol
no LPL copy-cats, we don't want Ron to get a trademark dispute against him. ;)
isn't that model from master lock a wave rake anyway?
lol , ' nothing out of 1 , click out of 2 .... ' i had exactly the same thought
I sense a Ron Pratt / Lock picking Lawyer crossover... 🙂
I literally said the WHOLE sentence like lpl 🤣🤣
Wow...a midweek from Ron. What a treat.
I know right!?!?!?!
Ron just wanted to play with his new toy, lol
came here to say this! 🤣
It's cool to see the passion that this family wants to share
No, this video is purely educational. Playing with mew toy has absolutely no mater when decision of making video was made.🙄
@@pomear_tv Of course Ron wasn't just playing wid da new toy! This was training...training I tell ya!!!! (And, in my Fire/EMS days, we never went to a junk yard and...er...disassembled a wrecked car or two after receiving new Hurst Tool accessories!)
Thanks Ron. I enjoy seeing the tools you get to use.
hi Ron, I am a retired fire fighter/EMT from the Atlanta area. I was born in Cape in 1952 & I will be in cape apr 3-4 if you have time I would love to stop by the shop on the 4th in the morning. Love the videos. A good operator is hard to find and you know your stuff.I am sure you are a great asset on an emergency scene to help with patient recovery.
I probably could have picked that lock in less than a minute, but that tool is absolutely amazing! Keep up the good work!
Love the videos keep up the good work GOD bless you
Ready see new rig in action
It's really nice to see you all have the passion to be willing to help and share what type of work that you all do! Thanks again Midwest Towing I enjoy catching up on your videos and more. I appreciate the major Aspen of what you all do. Ron Pratt and Family + Friends...
Nice ! Hurst will be handy to have on the truck.
Strong tool.
Very awesome demonstration Ron with a tool that will come in handy for you guys. God bless you guys too.
Lockpickinglawyer would’ve had it open before the intro music had stopped. lol
Thaat looks like a lock that I used to use when I had a storage unit. Pretty strong lock actually.
Stay safe and can't wait to see your new addition.
Snuck an early-week video in! Thanks for sharing. This looks like it could be a great addition to your new HazMat trailer.
Stay safe and healthy!
Wow, that was awesome!
As with all tools you need to use it to know what it will do for you. Nice to see the masterlock smashed in half, that had to be fun. Stay safe and healthy Sir.
Now that was fun and cool thanks 👍🤗
If you love Ron Pratt
👇
Wow!, Ron, I thought you were going to lose your fingers/thumb at one point there. Yes, it sure works!!, but I wouldn’t like to use it in poor light!! Could come in very handy, though, in your line of work. Best Wishes and stay safe Roy W UK
Great to see new tools
Cool Lil toy ya got there. If it'll cut one of those locks it'll go threw about anything that you throw at it
God morning Ron
That was kind-of-a-fun video to watch!
A Tuesday video, thanks for bringing us along
Having used one like this during extraction classes for the fire department, when it seems it's bogged down, keep the control on it will actually start working even harder in the next stage.
Mr. Ron Pratt never disappoints.
Good Evening There My Good Big Bro Ron Pratt Sir Of Midwest Towing
I’m so ready to see the new rig in action that’s thing is sick 🔥
The battery powered tools are good in some cermstances, but the actual hydraulic tools are second to none as you well know Ron lol 😊. Hurst tools are the biggest name in extrication tools yes there are other brands (Halmotro & Ampkus) just Hurst is the best KNOWN name. A nice test Ron & of course you had to use it on a SWIFT truck lol😂
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO RON 😊
Hey a midweek shortie from Ron is like getting to open a Christmas present on Christmas Eve!
Jaws of life, valuable piece of equipment anywhere
Very interesting 😮
So nice video of showing a bit of behind the scenes of testing out equipment before using it for said task but, I will say I’ve noticed this for a month but I have been noticing it on my TV and so I finally get to write it out, the passenger door is cracked open and not latched in the intro photo of Truck 11 “Tator” my ADHD caught it and my OCD wont stop noticing it now, great videos love the way you save lives, I say saving lives as you keep secondary crashes from happening on wrecks and keep anyone who is drive a little sedan all the way up to a fully loaded semi off the side of a dangerous highway God Bless You, the Crew and all your loved ones!
Ron it nice to have a early in the week video
LockPickingLawyer: I have these lock picking tools
Ron: haha strong arm go brrr
Great video as usual and I was happy to see a video on a Tuesday. Ron, I know you are a huge advocate of the slow down move over law and I just saw on the news that New York State just passed a law to go even further with it. Now in New York you have to slow down and move over for any vehicle on the side of the road. This includes broken down vehicles, someone stopped for another reason and like before all emergency and recovery vehicles. So basically slow down and move over for anything on the side of the road. I think this is great and will help people even more with getting in the habit of slowing down and moving over. Just thought I would drop you a note to let you know this.
Florida just did the same thing, I believe.
@davechrzan7150 Was coming through Nasville a few years ago and came up on a broken down vehicle with cop assisting. Was in right lane, so started slowing down, when the cop motioned me to move over. As l attempted to move over, vehicle to my left pulled alongside stopping me from moving over. I kept slowing down, the cop kept motioning me over until he realized what was happening. I was down to 10 mph, with the other vehicle right against my left side preventing me from moving over. Don't know what his problem was but those Nashville cats need to learn how to drive. On my trips to Muncie, lndiana, l hated going through Nashville the most. Now l hear it is even worse.
Hi Ron that looks like it would be perfect for light duty jobs. The Jaws of life would work better for that that
It is a battery jaws of life the fd has hydraulic ones that are far more powerful
That tool said Jaws of Life right on it
Your new tools going to come in handy especially when you got locks on the back of the trailers
Handy tool but what is your opinion on cutting wheel being quicker?
Yes! It definitely screwed up that master lock... Nice change in a video.... 😊
Never ever have seen a fire department Extrication Tool be used for this! Interesting!😂🤣
Aye, it chewed the lock up !!!
A little tip for when you have been using the spreaders.... leave the jaws slightly open, when the tool cools down, you will not run the risk of breaking the jaws due to the tool cooling down. This goes for all your hydraulic tools, Ron. 👍🇬🇧
He just looked like he was having some fun with a new toy for the tow truck.
The right angle
Grinder would have been faster. But if you’re in a situation where you can’t throw sparks the strong arm would be a good choice.
I’ve had bolt cutters spark at times when cutting.
TheLockpickingLawyer had a really great video about how to open these on Monday. Not sure if you would be interested and not knocking your new tool, that is great- does it open clamshell packaging?
Hey Ron, Nice video of the Hurst product. Next time remove the spreader tips and just use the cutting arms. You''ll be able to cut that lock off in one shot! On our rescue we carry that little guy and the full sized jaws. Stay Safe!
Not sure if it’s got it in that model but ours for our FD will max out and if you keep holding it it’ll essentially go into another gear it’s called 2 stage or something like that
Are you so always watch you and then I quit watching you and today I was like what was his name and then I looked up something and I found you and I'm so glad that I found your channel again
what a beasty cutter, i bet it goes through rebar like its nothing!
Ron and @lockpickinglawyer in a 5 lock opening race.
👍✌
Thanks Ron.
What was screaming in the Background ??
Mike M.
Is that tool designed to be used in situations where sparks from cut off wheel are too dangerous?
Will it cut chains and straps on shifted loads and safety cables on the expressway?
I think the big value of this tool is the cutting without sparks around the flammables. The big ? is where the heck is he going to put it in that jam packed truck
The Hurst tool you have much more like a spreader than a cutter I never actually seen that done that way, but there’s always a first
Might do better with a set of tips designed for cutting vs. spreading. We have one of those on our first out MVA engine and got a bag with different tips Velcro together in kits like spreading, cutting, or pulling
Thank god for automatic tools we had to train on hand crank ones
Ron did you ask the lock nicely to open? Being a masterlock asking politely to open may have worked.
Maater locks aren't very good. I can pick one i own with a flimsy paperclip, and a bobby pin. But mam did that machine bite tha master lock to shreds.
Whats with the pic rail on top
If im not mistaken thats the spreader head... you might of been the first person to fix a masterlock by crushing it cant open
I see Ron Pratt used the brute force method just like mrs lockpicking lawyer when she got locked out of her ice cream.
made me wonder if anyone on the team has lock picking experience, would be pretty useful for these kinds of situations so you can save the lock
WOW that was SHORT ! ! !
I wonder if when you had the first "click" of the lock breaking, if you twisted, the lock would have opened up and fallen apart.
🎉its not friday. Yay😅
Where would you get that tool and how much does one cost
Don't think the War-Lok is made by Master Lock. If it was, it wouldn't have held up anywhere near that well.
And, Ron, you and the @LockPickingLawyer need to get together...
Can make a new video on the new tools decided in full about there use in the towing industries
I hope LPL sees this!
Never under estimate brute force, and never over estimate masterlocks
Wouldn't mind seeing him open a glass bottle (like IBC Rootbeer) with that....without breaking the glass...
Is a big pipe wrench not cheaper option for breaking a padlock? Well guess it's just a matter of perspective, your option looks more professional :)
Pipe wrench would most likely damage the latch as well with more questionable reliability based on the quality of lock and latch. Definitely the cheaper option though
Twisting it off would damage everything but the lock in this, and many, cases.
I bet that it will make removing the driveline a lot easier
Eager to see McNally stitch this into a clip where he violates in in half a second with a cheap pick
"You are using a Masterlock [MODEL], it can be opened with a Masterlock [MODEL]." WHACK
First cuz I can spell.....
You are using a Masterlock M40XD. You can open this by using a Masterlock M40XD.
Turn the lock so it's not cutting it flat. Cut it from edge to edge. I bet you get get better results.
That was a short one. He just wanted to go out a play. lol....
I would have been very disappointed if that Masterlock had defeated that Hurst Tool
The cutting surface doesn't go all the way to the end
the brand Holmatro wil do this in 15 seconds haha
Ok got to ask… did the driver lose the key 🔑 to the lock?
I think that hurst machine is Faster than a cut off saw
What happen , did the Swift driver loose his keys
Another swift truck ? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It can't be locked if it's a liquid... Oxy-acetylene for the win! 😂
First comment yay haha
I used to always*
I have a smaller pair I use
Wut you going to yoo that tool for?
As a reminder for everybody, PLEASE do not store battery/hydraulic tools with the tips closed all the way as it will eventually ruin the O rings and other parts of the tool.
Not a Swiftie Swift! Noooo
Lol. How to get free goodies from a swift trailer 😂
So many comments bouncing around in my head... All of them are less than complimentary... Yes Mother, I remember...that's why I'm not saying anything... 😳
get a acy and oxy torch.. heh hella easier
Air tools not that battery bs
Nice new tool there Ron I'm still waiting on the new first video of the Ethan truck I mean the new wrecker lol
Also first video of the new trailer.
@@KnightRanger38He said that it was unlikely we would see the trailer in use. For a variety of reasons.
