- Helping a customer who took their Ram to the River to collect driftwood and almost got sucked into the mighty Mississippi. I start out by scouting the situation with our off-road recovery and traffic control unit #16, a Dodge Ram 1500. Will it be enough to get the job done??? Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

U can tell a man that works the guy getting pulled out working gust a hard as the tow truck driver. I'm the same way don't care if I'm paying for the job or not I always fell the need to help no matter what...
Especially when it makes the job easier and time it takes quicker.
I agree about 12 minutes in I’d give up and fire up my Nintendo switch
People fail to realize how heavy their diesel engines are. The mud always remembers.
Nice wide
Tyres air'ed down
That would have happened the same way if he had a gas engine. That isn't so much about weight as is surface conditions and tires.
You mean that my four wheel drive Cummings isn’t meant to tow a trailer in the mud on a slope? I guess it’s job security for Ron and his son when people have more money than common sense and entertainment for perfect people like me!
@@PetrolJunkie Wouldn't have made a difference; Sun dries the surface so it look ok, but it's pudding underneath. Happens a lot in Arizona too.
Cummins weighs 1100lbs. Its not a mud truck, even with wide tires. But it'll eat up snow.
I don't usually like when people try to help me do much of anything but his customer was actually helpful. Also impressive to see how well those blocks locked in that small Dodge.
Same, sometimes people just get in the way but if they know what there doing it’s a blessing they help.
Ron says: "i love this truck", in reality he "loves" all his trucks he drives.....
When Ron was three he said "I love this tricycle"
At seven it was "I love my bike"
Repeat many more times.
However, he never said that about a skateboard.
Facts!
It's just the right tool for the job. If it worked great, you just love your gear. He would've hated the rotator for this job though, even if it's a good lovely truck.
Awesome recovery!
I love all of my equipment that makes me money 💰
@@edewaal97 If he had the rotator as he said he could of just drag it out. Anyway we can pull it out with this one just as easy.
In an emergency if you don’t have a land anchor you can use a spare wheel.
You did a ditch deep enough to drop the tyre into . You angle it slightly away from the direction of pull and attach the line near the bottom so that it pulls the tyre into the ground.
I love how everyone is so polite and kind on this channel.
I'm more impressed at his dodge dash without any cracks in it
MICHAEL! IF YOU HAD THAT MUCH MONEY INVESTED IN THE EQUIPMENT THAT HE OWNS! YOU WOULD LOVE EVER TRUCK HE 🚚 OWNS ALSO! Great Video as always,!
It's still new...give it time...
That's alright, he's got them in the windscreen instead.
(Here in Australia that would actually class the vehicle as unroadworthy.)
i was thinking that to lol
My '00 had the dash crack..... Replaced it and had no issues
Time to stop for lunch and watch Mr Ron.
David in the U.K.
@david
Hello
How are you doing
Ron, you are a good man, when he started talking about the other person calling the chains "shackles" you side-stepped the idea so well. You are a good and righteous man. God Bless.
not the chains - the 'clevises'. They are shackles here in the UK too.
He didn't call the chain "shackles", he was talking about what Ron calls a clevis. In my area, we call them a bow shackle. You are correct when you say that Ron is a good man though.
I really liked the customer. He was very friendly and helpful.
Nice video today Ron...! With all the sand warm weather and lake nearby, it almost reminded me like it was a day at the beach... I went back and watched that video from 2017 you listed above. Wow Ron...! That was just insane that the guy didn't slow down and move over...! And awesome that the policeman went after him... Man, you & your guys put your life right on the line out on the highways...!!! Understandably you got upset... Heck I would too...! Made me upset and mad just seeing him not slowing down... Thank you for this video today... It always makes my day seeing you and hearing your voice of reasoning...! You keep us going knowing that there are good folks like yourself out in the world...! Love your channel...!!!!!!!!!!
I’m amazed at the amount of patience you give to these people who don’t listen, or think they know best. Your a kind man Ron.
I just imagine how awesome it would have been if Matt from Matt's Offroad Recovery would have been in the area. Probably would have been the best colab ever. :)
One of the most important is air your tires down
Keep this up, and you'll be wanting a Banana like Matt's Offroad Recovery!
seems like some people are watching the same youtube channels... by chance anybody knows Mirco?
Or the Moorvair
Or an off-road wrecker like George Hill's or BSF's.
Matt can “gettum out”!
I thought it was mats when I first clicked on it with only a quick glance at the thumbnail lol 😅
Good morning and Happy Friday everyone
‘Wheel Chocks and Wood Blocks’
I’d say thats a pretty good idea for merch 😎
CONGRATULATIONS ON BECOMING A GRANDPA RON. I hope you and your family are all doing well. Please keep safe. Love to all from Northern New Hampshire.
Great job Ron, you have the best personality and have such a good time interacting with your customers. God bless you as well.
16 is the little tow Ram that save the day. Little truck that could do big things.
The "Little Ram That Could".
Truck 16 is the Lil’ Ram that could. Awesome video Ron. God Bless and stay safe out there. Also welcome to the grandpa club
I always wondered about the BadLands brand winches vs the more expensive Warn and others.....the fact that someone like you has one is enough endorsement for me.
I remember that video of the pickup truck flying past you. That was way too close. Stay safe out there, Ron!!
I was wrong and Mr Pratt was right again! I thought that recovery needed a bigger truck ! Thank you for making Friday complete once again, enjoy the week end blessings to the family and all at your place of business.
Time to drop the tire pressure down in the sand Ron.
Works in sand... but that Mississippi mud is something else.
Congratulations on being a new granddaddy, and Talon a Daddy.
It’s amazing just how small of a ‘bait’ it takes to snag a large fish out of the water. 😎😎😎
Good morning/afternoon, hope y’all had a great day :))
The British Army call the Yankum a kinetic tow rope been using them to recover tanks for years.
Proper offroad recovery. Well thought out, nice and carefully executed. Well done !
Good morning from New Hampshire
Ron, when you were talking about your grandson, it brought back a lot of memories. My son is 56 years old now, but when he was just an infant, he was just old enough to be able to squirm around and he squired himself right off the bed onto the floor. It just about scared the life out of me. Thank God he wasn't hurt, but it sure put the fear in me for a while! Great job getting that truck out without using a real "tow truck"! As always, thanks for your time in making these. Down here where we live, it's quite common to get something stuck in the sand. We have quite a bit of it -- my husband got our car stuck on the beach at New Smyrna Beach just south of Daytona Beach, and it burned the reverse gear out of the automatic transmission back in early 1967!
Ron thank you for telling me about the Yankum ropes. I have used them a few times to get my buddies out of the mud. They actually work great. God bless
Brilliant job as always Ron. Just shows you don’t always need the wreckers or even roll backs. When you have the skills and experience of you Ron. Your the modern day “ Thunderbirds”
I love how Ron is so good with people but mostly how good he is at his craft... awesome man :)
It's so nice watching ur blog everytime. You are so CALM in everything you do and the way u talk is so calming to me😊😊😊😊
the little RAM that could!
I thought about using something similar for the video title. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Good morning!
Technically the pin you screw into the horse shoe shape part is a clevis pin, and the horse shoe part is the yoke. The two together make up a shackle.
I've heard both. Just a matter of what part of the country your from I guess. I typically call them shackles but I immediately know what a person needs if they do call it a clevis.
Loved seeing a Mississippi video for a change. Glad you were able to help him out with just the pick-up. Don't usually see that truck in action.
That was an intresting little job. Glad everything worked out with the traffic control unit, and got the guy out of his predicament. As alemways God bless you Ron & EVERYONE at Midwest Truck.
Yaaaay. Its a good day. Im hoping it stops raining as fair is having the rodeo and tomorrow is demo derby
Here's hoping. Bloody slow in the rain not to mention risky as hell. Can have its moments but after 15-20 minutes it's a lost cause.
Just like every friday, coming home from work and watch a new Ron Pratt video. Great video as always ROn, thank you! Realy impressed by the power of unit #16. It shows that with experience you can get a lot of work done with not the heaviest equipment.
That damp dirt is just the crust. What’s underneath is bottomless.
A Friday spent watching a true pro is a Friday well spent. Thank you!
I was worried that your truck was going to do a nose dive into the sand while pulling him out at first. Glad to see everything went well, and you were successful. A hard job well done, and made to look easy. God bless and see you in your next vlog!!!
Ron, I don't hardly ever comment on things but I LOVE seeing the traffic control truck videos! That thing is a work horse!
I knew that Sweet 16 would be up to the job! As always, be safe and God bless you, your crew and your equipment!
This is the most unusual Matt's Off Road Recovery video I've seen! (LOL)
Good morning Ron! Always a pleasure to see your notification pop up on Friday mornings. We are sweltering down near the mouth of the big muddy in NOLA. Our hi today is only going to be 90°. Our current temp 88° with heat index of 92° at 8am. Hope we both get to sit in the shade a while today!
Never thought i would see a Ron Pratt truck so untidy😂👌👍
There are two times I have come to expect that situation. First is when there is a winter weather emergency (like in February this year). Second, would be like today - tying to have all the equipment needed for a job that might not need (or be hard to tackle) a larger vehicle for the initial recovery.
I love seeing all the kind of jobs you get calls for.
This looks more like a job for @Matt’s Off Road Recovery!
Great job as always!
Good Morning, love watching your videos! Congratulations on becoming first time grandparents!
Ron, the "Bird cage vs Bird nest" mix up was very "adorable". No disrespect intended. ;-)
And... no one hurt no one injured and ........... no one covered in mud ; how un-Ron-ian
Now I wasn't going to say anything if no one else caught that! LOL! My aging brain does that to me so I'm the last person to say anything! I love the shackle/clevis side-step too. Ron is surely a gentleman that's a fact!
Terry from South Carolina
@@terryfromsouthcarolina4601 I think it all depends on where in the country you live. Each area has specific names for similar items. As long as everyone in the conversation can figure it out, who cares. However, if you need to buy the item, you need to be able to explain what you want. Per Wikipedia: A shackle, also known as a gyve, is a U-shaped piece of metal secured with a clevis pin or bolt across the opening, or a hinged metal loop secured with a quick-release locking pin mechanism.
Wow that's sad to see. Awesome job Ron and the team. Great tram work. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work Ron and the boys. Keep recovering. Keep towing. Tow on. Keep making. God Bless.
Nice job Ron, great change of a video of recovery
Hopefully you’re getting the rain that we are at the other End of the state. With wind course lol
Thanks. Good show. Neat to see the river from a different perspective.
Your customer makes a great assistant.
This was a good help time for watching. YEAH!!
Thank you for another great video
I have enjoyed all of them. Always waiting for the next one. God bless everyone.
Best part of every week: New Ron Pratt video.
Worst part of every week: Ron Pratt's new video ends
Love the videos ron
Really like this last video I like the personal interaction between you and your customer good job
I have one of those front heavy ram diesels. Two minutes to bury it hours to get it out. Nice job and didn't even hurt the yankum rope.
Great job Ron constant application of pressure moved it out
Always nice to see the customer jump into help and not just tell you how to do your job.
Ron has anybody ever said you sound like Bill Engvall. For me it's like listening to him do towing and recovery videos. By the way your awesome at what you do sir
I've been to that spot before my sister lives in Benton. Good job watch you all the time I live in Florida.
God bless you ron! this video reminds me when i got stuck with my '91 isuzu trooper (bighorn) in pelabuhan ratu beach, sukabumi indonesia. But we don't have a proper tools, just little chima winch and broken 4x4 😂. Luckily the surrounding people and tourist offering help to get my trooper back to road and it works! What a sweet memories 😂
Mr Ron loves it when a plan comes together.
'Next on today's episode of "It Takes a Dodge to Recover a Dodge" . . . '
That rope worked great! Nice job.
good little Dodge good work mr Ron Pratt thanks for sharing blessings to you and your family 🙏 stay safe out there
Good job
I enjoyed your knowledge of your work
God bless you and your family
The banks of the Mississippi are sandy . I did not know that. Im on Long Island NY, where all of our shoreline is sandy, Don't really know why I am surprised about that. I guess I just assumed that only ocean beaches were sandy and that an inland riverbank would be soil and mud. The things I learn from watching Ron Pratt never cease to amaze me.
You need one of those 'That was easy' red buttons, to press when a job like this is over! I'm learning a lot from these videos. Thanks. 👍
Good job Ron I know about the kid raising mine are grown now thank god.
i vote for "clevis"! Shackles are found on leaf spring vehicle suspensions!!
And prisoners feet
Even the simple jobs get a little attention!
Caught one small correction for ya….you said you use the rim slings because they create tension and it helps break traction…..I believe you meant it helps break the suction of the mud….actually had to think twice about it myself… excellent recovery.
When I did motorsport recovery. I always carried 4 metal handled shovels. Stick the blades in the ground in a row with a backward tilt. Then lash top to bottom of the next rearward. Then shackle to the shank of the first.. it is amazing how much holding power they had.
Congratulations on the new little one
I think you mentioned that your son liked Highway to He'll....I watched that and 401 for some time..I still watch them, but now your Videos are my ultimate favorites !!!!
RON, HELLO, maybe this is a FIRST ? Using your #15 traffic control unit, mostly driven by your dad, That muck reminds me of a place by a lake in UTAH, that STINKS , MATTS OFF-ROAD RECOVERY does amazing things with his adapted JEEP , the YELLOW BANANA, but your DODGE IS a smaller powered one , compared to that stuck one , well YOU RECOVERED IT , GOD BLESS & take care
it’s just 13;08 after finished 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Stay safe out there Ron! Have a great day
I was thinking it's about time for another recovery. Not disappoint. 👍☺️
A thing I learned on a trip to the outer banks was to lower the tire pressure to 10-15psi to make a wider footprint on the tires and help keep the transmission cooler
Hey Ron🙋 Yeah it's the sand that scares me over all the surfaces. Great job and glad you didn't get stuck👍
Ron that looked like a pleasant one! Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Gotta love that 5.7 hemi power. I have a 05 myself love it
Thank you for another great video, best way to start the day. Fremont Michigan
That man was a great help!
One good thing, you don't have the tide coming back in to force the issue.
Don't forget to load that trailer up before you leave.
Great video!
Just an idea, next time take your strap between tow hooks and send it through the eyelet on your tow rope and leave off the shackle. This way if anything comes loose you might have rope flying at you but no flying steel shackles.
Nice to see the little Dodge putting in some work.
Great episode. Excellent Ram.
This is the most interesting videos I've seen in a while.
Sweet, finally get to see the traffic control truck doing a winch out, and congratulations to you Mr Pratt on becoming a grandfather take care of that baby 🍼 slow down move over, God bless be safe and watch out for motorcyclists
Nice job by Ron and the little Ram that could!
I love watching your videos
