Massive Neolithic settlement found in Serbia
A 7,000-year-old Neolithic settlement has been found near the Tamiš River in Serbia’s Banat region. The settlement is quite large, about the size of 300 basketball courts. Artifacts indicate that it was part of the Vinča culture, which might have the world’s oldest writing system. This discovery is important as it helps us understand social inequality and knowledge transfer in early human history, especially in Southeast Europe.
