  • In this video we will take a look at the ancient Greeks who settled at the furthest frontier of the world known to them: Bactria. Here was found a hellenistic settlement in modern-day Tajikistan which is known as Takht-i Sangin, which is Persian for "a Throne of Stone". It's ancient name is unknown to us.
This is the subject of this week's video.

For the most part of their ancient and modern history, up until the rise of the Ottomans, Greeks lived and ruled over Western and Central Asia.

The ancient Greeks did not exist, but the Illyrians, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Slavs! Greece existed since 1830, so during the time of the Romans there were no ancient Greeks, but Hellenic people, who lived in different cities. All of History with Greece are lies, because Alexander the Great didn't even speak Greek until he was 30 years old, and his father Philip I and Alexander too fought several wars against the Greeks!!

The Greeks, in the time of Alexander, the ancient Greeks did not exist, but the Romans!!!! The only people in Eu are the Greeks who can no longer prove the origin of the Greeks, a nation without the origin!!! Alexander the Great's mother, Olympias, was from the region of Epirus. Epirus was located in the western part of modern-day Greece, near the border with modern-day Albania. The people of Epirus, including Olympias, were considered Iliryrian!
Epirus was seen as a border region with influences from neighboring non-Greek peoples like the Illyrians.

I have read all Arryan books, I am reading Plutarch at the moment and I have a huge admiration of Alexander The Great years period, as according by the books he did try to unite and bring two different cultures together even though Aristotle (his teacher-mentor) advised him that the Greek way is the way to follow and the opposite was 'barbaric' or the 'wrong' one.
Whether he did that for strategic purposes or for admiration of the eastern culture (very possible) it is something worth discussing

What do Greece have in common with Macedinian anciant empire? Greek polises were conquered by Alexander, and some Greeks served in his army hut never on the management positions. However, he used the greek language, which was lingua franca at that time naturally for practical reasons. Simliar like English nowadays. Greek ancient historitians were emphesising the disticnctivness of Greeks from Macedonians. In 19 centuries, it became important for the Greek state to apropriate Maceodnian antique heritige for justifing occupation of Macedonia.

Dear neighbour, you are a slav and this is cool. Slavic populations crossed the Danube for the first time to the South into the Balkan peninsula in the 6th century A.D. That's 1000 years after Alexander. All that you said is false point for point. Ancient Macedonians: spoke Greek, names Greek, religion Greek, alphabet Doric Greek, participated in the Olympic games where only Greeks could, considered themselves "sons of Hercules" like Doric Greeks and so on. Your main argument that they were not Greeks because they fought against other Greek city-states is so week. Everybody knows the Greek states were fighting against each other all the time. And when Philipp and then Alexander won these wars what did they do? They convened twice a congress called the Panhellenion (meaning a gathering of all Greeks) which proclaimed them Generals of all Greeks and decided to launch the campaign against the mighty Persian Empire seen as a common threat to all Greeks. And we could go on and on. You guys are Slavic-Bulgarians who at some point after the 8th century AD started migrating and then inhabited in the region of Macedonia without even using this name. And then in the 20th century especially after WWII and Tito's diversification policies starting calling yourselves Macedonians as a separate nationality because Tito needed a multinational country while at the same time wanted to avoid the recognition of a Bulgarian nation in his borders. And to support that claim then certain politicians developed the ridiculous propaganda that Macedonia isn't related to Greece. Relax. My father born in 1944 is older than your fabricated national identity and I, born in 1977, am 15 years older than your country formed in 1992. But you have been so indoctrinated and fanaticized that even the most plain and clear historical facts mean nothing to you. Even so we can still live in peace. Greeks only defend their history and lay no claim on your lands. But VMRO nationalists lay claims to 25% of Greek territory were 2,5 million Greeks reside. Even if you took Greek Macedonia you would become minority. Be proud of your slavic and Bulgarian heritage but please stop the lies concerning Greek history, which also includes of course Ancient Macedonian history. Greetings from Thessaloniki, the historical capital of Macedonia. Fun fact, Thessaloniki named after Alexander's sister, starts with the letter theta Θ. The theta sound is really rare among European languages. Only Greek, English and Castilian Spanish use it. Just another reminder of the Greekness of Macedonia since ancient times.

Hahaha, find me any university that would teach the nonsense you audaciously write.
Religion, culture, language, art, tradition all the same between the Greek cities. Only Greeks were allowed in the Olympics. Macedonians were taking part naturally.
Greeks fought each other constantly and their hostilities would only cease during the Olympics.
Oh and Aristotle was teaching Alexander in Greek, and Alexander talked in Greek ( a foreign language for you or did someone translate constantly?
A million evidence of all kinds but not fit for your delusional narrative
And Greek was not lingua franca. Was spoken only by Greeks. Became lingua Franca AFTER Alexander.
That's why we talk about Hellenistic and not Greek after him

    • @pericaivanoski9027
      @pericaivanoski9027 3 місяці тому +1

@ntvans nothing to laugh really just take the facts:
      - The fact that the Greek culture, religion, and language were dominant in the Mediterranean does not make all being under that influence Greeks. Similar to neither me probably not you are not Englishmen. For Aristotle, Filip just wanted to provide the best education for his son, preparing him for his successor by bringing the best teachers no matter the origin
      - check Greek historians from that time, don't use romantic papers of Europeans written in 2000 after the Macedonian empire. The Greeks themselves were saying that Macedonians were barbarian (someone speaking an unrecognizable language, i.e. non-Greek), and when Aleksander wanted not to be understood by Greeks, he spoke in their language. Also, that is not worth even a slave to have from Macedonia. Not to say that the Macedonian state's organisation was totally different from Greek policies.
      - The "common" history started after Greek cities were occupied by Macedonians and became their servile servants. There was no Greek commander in the Macedonian army
      - The Greeks themselves never identified with Macedonians until the 90s of last centuries when it started for pure nationalistic purposes. Just check when airports, streets, and regions suddenly became all Macedonia and Megalos Alexandros. Oppositely, in Athena and core Greek regions, Macedonians were always perceived as intruders and enemies. Check when 1st monument of Alexander was raised in Athens and how many of them are present in the Peloponnese and islands.
      - on the territory of the ethnic and geographical region of Macedonia Greeks had never been the dominant population before the occupation of Macedonia and the division among Balkan countries in 1913. They have kept coastal areas similar to many Mediterranean and Black Sea areas. Then, brutal colonisation and assimilation started to change ethnic structure. The dominant was ethnic Macedonians (who kept the Macedonian name but took the Slavic language), followed by Turks, Jews, Vlachs, Albanians, and Bulgars near Thrace.
      Hugs from Macedonia

@pericaivanoski9027 Total ignorance and superficial interpretation of distorted facts.
Firstly, before Alexander Greek civilisation was not popular amongst the Mediterranean poplulation. It was simply common for Greek cities only. 2000 of them scattered in the Meditteranean area and Black sea.
So don't pretend that Greek was something like English today. Greek culture was something to be shared by Greeks only before Alexander.
Second, and incomprehensible by you: You downplay the degree of superiority and harsh criticism that Greek major state coalitions had for one another. You believe that the Superiority and hostility must be an attitude reserved for foreigners. That's how strange the Greek paradigm is to you even now. Before Alexander Spartans were at war with Atheneans for 27 years until total destruction of Athens.
War for Greeks was something to be carried out amongst equals not inferior barbarians. That's another thing you cannot understand being a barbarian.
Calling the Macedonian Greeks barbarians was a way to ridicule them. Had they been barbarians they would not have been allowed in Olympic Games. But they were.
Third, Spartans did not take part in the campaign of Alexander, neither he forced them something strange for an occupier according to your narrative.
You obviously ignore that they were both Dorians. Strange ignorance for a wanna be offspring ...
Forth, the most personal linguistic expressions such as his name and horses name had a Greek meaning. In the uniting speeches delivered by Isocrates, his speech writer he refers to reidents of all parts of Greece including Macedonia as Greeks
Fifth, You deliberately confuse the state if the Greek world before and after Alexander. After him the empire was an empire with different ethnicities living under the Greek influence. Of course they used the Macedonian system since they believed its superior to the others.
Alexander was the first true globalist and he was murdered for this by his close circle because it was unacceptable for Greeks even then especially at his rank to mix with barbarians as he did by marrying and having an offspring with Roxanne
Do a little study, find out the truth, don't appropriate an existence totally strange to you just because some big powers have political agendas on your back.
Take a DNA test, it's possible that you are of Greek origin as is one forth of your non country, the others being Albanians,Bulgarians and Gypsies. Don't assume identities you cannot backup and the totality of the academic world globally reject. By the way I have visited your area and had a good time. By the way had you been smart and not the useful idiot of US and Turkey, you would have tried to join Greece in a loose Federation. Would prove more beneficial in the long run
