OMG, what have they done with Tulum??? We were there around 30 years ago and there was no shopping, no admission fee, no fee to take pictures, etc. After seeing your video, I have zero desire to return. I hate how commercial everything has become.
It is so sad, I wish I could have seen it before it was commercialized. I don’t mind a gift shop or a souvenir shop, even a restaurant or ice cream shop but I still think you should be able to see the ruins as you enter. Hugs
That’s why I always take sea sick meds before getting on a small boat - especially the ferry from Cozumel to the mainland. The day I took it the crew handed out seasick bags before we left the dock.
Ten years ago my wife and I took the ferry from the ship to Cozumel. It was truly horrible. This boat seating was all enclosed and they closed the doors to outside on embarkation from the cruise ship. Huge waves. To make it worse a video of Pink Floyd was projected on a screen at the front of the seating area. Hearing Pink Floyd at maximum volume while thinking your ship is going to be capsized from the waves, while vomiting, is not pleasant. You’d think in ten years the cruise lines would have dockage to avoid this nightmare experience.
ugh, to go from the vomit ferry to a poorly ventilated mexico bus. And just like you said, there's only one way back to the ship. God bless you all and thank you for sharing! I am so sorry you had to go through that
I took this excursion 15 years ago and the ferry was the same way. People getting sick everywhere. I think i was the only one who took Dramamine and i was good! And there was a warning when i booked the excursion i guess no one takes it seriously.
There is no warning now, there should be. I always read the excursion details mainly because I have to talk about the details in vlogs. Nothing was mentioned. They could have at least said something before, warned people and given the chance to cancel. Royal does that, I am quite disappointed Princess does not.
Awww Favor and poor Robert, so sorry about the seasick ride. Well you confirmed my thoughts about the famous vomit comet ride to the mainland. I’ll be like Robert, never going on that trip. I never have gone but was thinking about it, but no hmm not now. Hope your next days were a lot more umm “smooth sailing”. Thanks for the posting and very nice info!
They were a bit better..lol.. It is not normally like this. We have taken the ferry many times and never had this happen. It was notorious around the ship for sure, people were talking about it the remainder of the cruise! Hugs my friend!
When I originally went to Tallum in 1988 there Wasn't anything there. It was very rustic. Playa de Carmin was a sleepy fishing village then. It was nothing but jungle between there and Tallum
The DJI needs to be babysat a bit more than the GoPro. For ease of use I prefer the GoPro and it is waterproof. I think for inside the ship and dry walking tours the DJI is a good choice. If I could only choose one I would go with the GoPro for it's versatility. Do read on the setting with LED lights int he ship so you don't have flicker lights in your footage. Have so much fun! Hugs!
I heard about this ferry being very rough years ago... I decided then never to ride across. If I was to want to see Tulum ...I would fly into Cancun! Thanks for the video!!
Yes, we have been to Cancun a couple of times and next time we will book a tour to the ruins to avoid the water. It’s funny we have been on this ferry many times with no issue. I knew the seas could be rough but we have always seen them stop the ferry from running. This was so odd. Hugs!
Holy moly... I don't think Bonine would have saved me from that. 🤢🤮 They should have absolutely should have canceled that excursion. Poor Robert 😔. So sorry that you guys had a bad experience 😢
Hi Favor, this is Mike and Paulia. We were on the VIP catamaran tour and snorkel the same day. I was really surprised they let our tour go through considering the size of the swells. Getting off the boat, an elderly lady fell off between the boat and the dock into the water. I wont talk about her condition, but I'm pretty sure she was the reason the ship was hours late leaving Cozumel while she was evaluated on the ship, then waiting for an ambulance. I'm still drafting a letter to Princess concerning this.
Oh NO! How awful! I hope she is okay. Please let me know the results of your letter. This was such a dangerous day and all on boat tours should have been cancelled. Hugs!
We are going on our first cruise in February. The only excursion we booked was at the return port. We didn't want to book anything otherwise because we were not sure how the weather would be. We didn't even consider a horrible mini boat ride. Good to know.
I HIGHLY recommend Bonine. I just k ew that Harmony Hurricane Milton cruise was going to be rough. I did not get seasick anytime. I took the Bonine before I boarded the ship and once per day after. It worked. Chewable tablets. I got them from Amazon.
Sorry you had to learn about the ferries the hard way. The ferries have always been like this depending on the swells. No one controls the sea especially the cruise line 😂. If you ever try again, don’t sit inside the ferry. Fresh air and concentrating on the horizon help with nausea.
I have been on this ferry many times - MANY and never had seas like this. No, the cruise line does not control the seas ( obviously) but they know the swells are high and the boat will be like this and should warn people and give the option to cancel or properly prepare. We were told the seas were a “little rough” (The seas were so rough we had to miss a port) Inside was better than outside. And yes we know about the horizon. The cruise line should have cancelled. People were hurt on this boat and so many were sick the entire day.
I got seasick once on a cruise. The rocking started at night. It continued overnight. I went to breakfast the next morning, but couldn't eat anything. I went back to the cabin and stayed there the whole day, until venturing to dinner. I was able to eat very little, but was feeling much better. Luckily, we had run into some neighbors on board, so my husband had someone to hang out with on that sea day. It was enough for me to take Bonine every day on every cruise I took after that. Better safe than sorry. So sorry it was so bad on your excursion
It is terrible when you are seasick on the ship. You can’t get away from it. I am so sorry you had to go through that. Sending you hugs, glad you had some Bonine!
I clicked on this as soon as I saw the title. We did this excursion in 2007 and I was so sick on the ferry, and I wasn't alone. We did this in early November. Maybe the time of year? I remember it distinctly and warn everyone who tells me they are going to do this from Cozumel. I can't believe they don't put out clear warnings about it. It was awful. Knowing you have to get back on the ferry ruins some of the day.
I have been hearing more and more about these boats and their reputation of making people very sick. I agree, there should be warmings. I am hoping this video is seen so maybe people can be aware. We have been on several ferry’s and never had this issue. In this type of seas these bots should be cancelled. Hugs!
It’s never too rough until the Skipper and the crew are barfing too. 🤮. I’m sure the looming return to the cruise ship was living rent free in the minds of many all day. Remember, what doesn’t end you makes you stronger (and wiser).
I was sick just watching this. I hope hope that "excursion" was taken off each and every passenger"s account but I bet it was not. This is a perfect example that they did not want to cancel to lose that revenue so went ahead. Also that bus looked vomit inducing on the interior. This was a really bad day and sorry it happened to you. Lesson....if it looks that bad just don't go.
You would win that bet, sadly. Yes, I agree. Unfortunately. We know for next time. We have been on the ferry several times but this was first for us with the waves. Hugs!
We left Regal Princess headed to Guernsey in a life boat as a tender and it was rough but when we tried to get back to the sthip it was a storm. The crew handed out puke bags. Then we slammed into the side of the ship!! What is it about Regal princess. We had a lot of sick people too.
I can't remember if you went to the ruins in Belize, Altun HA. I know someone did not long ago, anyway if you go there THAT is a good ruin, we were there in 2016 and it's a bus ride, 45 minutes to an hour. It was recently discovered, sometime in the 2000's There were only 3 sites fully exposed then but they were uncovering more. We REALLY enjoyed that. There was a tall one you could go up, the Sun Temple, our 3 kids made the climb up and down. There was a smaller one that Ed and the kids went up on. I kept my feet firmly planted on the ground, I could picture myself falling down the stairs either going up OR coming down. NOPE. lol
I *think* we have been there. I am pretty sure I climbed up. Terrified! I could also be remembering another ruin. Those steps are steep! AND uneven! Scary! Coming down is actually worse! lol. Next time my feet will be like yours, firmly planted on the ground! Hugs!
The worst boat ride I ever had was in Cozumel. It was probably about 17 years ago at this point. We were unable to dock due to some previous hurricanes, damaging the port and so we had to take a Mexican boat to tender to and from the port. On the way back to the ship, the boat was rocking and rolling like you said on your trip. Unloading the boat and getting back onto the cruise ship took forever, and it was pretty scary, especially for my mother who does not know how to swim. Ever since then I dread taking that smaller boats.
I cannot believe they do not cancel these boats. I was thinking this time was just a miss but I guess they send them in these high seas. I know going forward we will dread them too if we ever ride one again. So sorry you went through that. Hugs!
Too bad you can't climb the temple steps anymore. It was very rustic then. No where near as developed as it us today. We just got off the bus at the complex then walked around the ruins. No roped off areas. Then we climbed up the temple steps to the the top.
Hi! It’s a national site now so they have several new rules. I will say even with those rules you could buy all the items you could not bring in except the stickers. I understand those being an issue because people leave them and stick them everywhere. Hugs!
How many tours have you been on? Tour busses and long distance busses DO have seatbelts. Many busses we have had tours on in MANY cities in Mexico have seatbelts. I expect seatbelt and so should you especially on a cruise line excursion. You don’t have to watch if it bothers you so much. This was not a safe excursion. And no, the seas are not rough like that off Cozumel to mainland notoriously that would be Costa Maya. I have been on that ferry many times and never had an experience like this. So, this was my experience talking from my frequent trips on this ferry. Take care.
Had we known before we boarded that boat we would have stayed on board the ship. Sadly no refund, not even an “I’m sorry” from Princess. We were actually a bit unhappy about this. We really thought with the complaints there were have been at least a partial refund. I did put it in the survey. Hugs my friend!
I have been on several busses with seat belts, especially tour busses. They had the receiver portion of the seat belts but no belts. It is not hurricane season, we sailed in December. Hugs!
So glad I went to Tulum about 15 yrs ago before all the commercialism and "junk" shops!
OMG, what have they done with Tulum??? We were there around 30 years ago and there was no shopping, no admission fee, no fee to take pictures, etc. After seeing your video, I have zero desire to return. I hate how commercial everything has become.

So sorry you had to go through this. I don't know if I could have continued on with the excursion after that boat ride. :(. Thanks for sharing.
That’s why I always take sea sick meds before getting on a small boat - especially the ferry from Cozumel to the mainland. The day I took it the crew handed out seasick bags before we left the dock.

Hello great video! Im booked to go on the Regal this Feb. How do you like the DJI vs a GoPro?
The DJI needs to be babysat a bit more than the GoPro. For ease of use I prefer the GoPro and it is waterproof. I think for inside the ship and dry walking tours the DJI is a good choice. If I could only choose one I would go with the GoPro for it's versatility. Do read on the setting with LED lights int he ship so you don't have flicker lights in your footage. Have so much fun! Hugs!
Great video of the ruins Thank you
Sorry Robert got sick and it scared you Thank you
Thank you so much for watching! Hugs!
I climbed the steps of the temple then. That was an awesome experience! 😊
Now you can’t touch anything.. Only a couple of ruins have we been able to climb up. Steep steps! Hugs!
Omggggg I got dizzy myself watching the boat rocking. I hope Robert feels better. Love always from St. Thomas U.S Virgin Islands
Hugs my friend, he was much better the next day - thankfully! Hugs!
Thats great he is doing much better. I does get seasick myself. So I know h9w he felt. Happy Holidays 🎉🎉🎉
We are so sorry you guys had a bad trip going there and coming back so sorry! And I’m sorry, Robert.❤
It was not a good day, sadly. He was much better the next day, thankfully. Hugs!
What did Princess say or do about the complaints?
For us, nothing. I don’t know if they did something for individual complaints. We should have been refunded at least partially.
I heard about this ferry being very rough years ago... I decided then never to ride across. If I was to want to see Tulum ...I would fly into Cancun! Thanks for the video!!

No, nothing was going to stop the seasick on that trip. Wow, we have never been on anything that bad. Hugs you guys!!

I am so sorry for Robert! He should have had a great experience!
I think on a calm day I may be able to convince him to go again. He wants to see it. Hugs!
Seeing them struggle to keep the boat and ramp to get on stable was alarming at best. That was ridiculous, but I'm glad y'all are okay!
We are going on our first cruise in February. The only excursion we booked was at the return port. We didn't want to book anything otherwise because we were not sure how the weather would be. We didn't even consider a horrible mini boat ride. Good to know.
We had the same problem going over and we felt so badly for those that were so ill.
I HIGHLY recommend Bonine. I just k ew that Harmony Hurricane Milton cruise was going to be rough. I did not get seasick anytime. I took the Bonine before I boarded the ship and once per day after. It worked. Chewable tablets. I got them from Amazon.
We have it, I will now put it in the bag and take it before any boat ride just in case! Hugs!

Thanks for the heads up. We’ll be cruising in that area in March and we don’t handle rough waters that well.
If it is windy I would be cautious. We have been on this ferry many times and never had this issue. Hugs!
Awww... sorry yall had that experience. I don't think I could have handled those waves myself. ❤
This was the worst we have ever had. Hugs my friend!

If I may be nosey.....was there any compensation for that ordeal??
Sadly, no. No apology, nothing. I didn’t make a stink so others may have been compensated in some way. There were a few loud complains.
Too bad you can't climb the temple steps anymore. It was very rustic then. No where near as developed as it us today. We just got off the bus at the complex then walked around the ruins. No roped off areas. Then we climbed up the temple steps to the the top.
They have talked about that on other tours. People have ruined the ruins with graffiti and other forms of damage. Sadly.
@LifeWithFavor People really irritate me when they don't respect these treasures.
What’s with all the rules about the water and stickers and bag checks?
Hi! It’s a national site now so they have several new rules. I will say even with those rules you could buy all the items you could not bring in except the stickers. I understand those being an issue because people leave them and stick them everywhere. Hugs!
❤ sorry Rob
Hugs my friend!
I've been sea sick before and I know its really bad, no fun.
I would have cried getting back on that boat to get back to the ship….cause I would have been so sick 🤢
There were a lot of tears and upset people. Hugs
Cozumel is notoriously windy and rough seas. Even busses in America do not have seat belts. You act like first time cruisers.
How many tours have you been on? Tour busses and long distance busses DO have seatbelts. Many busses we have had tours on in MANY cities in Mexico have seatbelts. Hurricane season worst time to go. Never been on a bus with seat belts ??
I have been on several busses with seat belts, especially tour busses. They had the receiver portion of the seat belts but no belts. It is not hurricane season, we sailed in December. Hugs!
I would have made them wait for me to run in to the pharmacy you passed for Dramamine. So sorry it was so bad.
Oh boy....that's rough...wonder why the ship didn't get closer to the dock...and yeah should have been cancelled but then they make no money!
Yep, in this case their profits were more important. Sadly. Hugs!
The ferry to Cozumel is always the vomit comment
Got me sick just watching. No thanks!
Wow that was horrible
It was not a good day. Hugs!
☹️
Hugs my friend!
It’s always like that to Cozumel
We have been on the ferry several times, this was a first.
I am so glad that has been your experience. Every single time we take that dang ferry ppl are sick.
