Great comparison. In my opinion, the only good one on UA-cam. You show what others have missed. Could you make a video about the configuration and settings for photos with the Xaiomi 14 ultra? The idea is to show what settings you use to take a photo in a given situation.
@@ThroughJermainesLens Yes of course I would like to see many users how you use the pro mode and portrait mode. It's about contrast and saturation settings and choosing the mode depending on the circumstances. This phone has three modes: auto (which I practically don't use), portrait, and pro. It also has settings in the photo quality menu. It was only after a week that I found out that I had very good selected, and yet there is also a super setting. something I've noticed in this video is despite having a much smaller sensor for the 3x shots, Xiaomi seems to always have the faster shutter speed out of the two in the shots you provided. could it be due to the f/1.8 aperture? could you do some testing on that, as well as 5x.
@ThroughJermainesLens interesting, I thought bigger sensor would bridge the gap very easily considering how much bigger it is. could this mean the 3x would potentially be better for 5x shots on the 14 Ultra than it's 5x sensor itself (which is at f/2.5) at night? for moving shots specially.
It's hard to choose between the two. There are scenes where Vivo do better, and the same for Xiaomi. I guess I lean slightly more towards Xiaomi because of the Photography Kit. Also, I found out that Fotorgear made a phone case with embedded 17mm lens thread, so that opens up a whole lot more possibility.
Oh I fully agree, it's a close battle, and yes I love that photography kit :D And 17mm thread? So it has a thread around each lens? or how should I see that? couldn't that lead to the camera being wide enough to shoot the edges of that circle?

It can take a picture of a car, and the texture of the road and the fine mesh on the radiator will disappear, but the rest of the foreground will be fine. It also takes the background as brightly as the foreground. It takes small highlights and barely perceptible highlights in the background as brightly as the brightest light sources in the frame. It takes equally bright pictures of matte and glossy surfaces. And, on shiny objects there are absolutely always highlights. All this work with light is terrible. Because although the frame looks bright, it completely loses the volume of the scene and what it really was. It can take a picture of a Christmas tree in the evening, and everything on it will be in lights, and it will remove the difference in lighting between the back branches and the front ones. It turns out that you have good and equally bright light on each branch, and you don't see the volume of the figure. If there was a play of light in the frame, VIVO will never convey the authenticity of the frame. It will ruin it. Its post-processing algorithms always make mistakes with lighting. I would say that 14U doesn't leave enough compromises for the average user. Whether Leica Authentic or Leica Vibrant, we need something with less character, something in between that would allow the average user to find what they are looking for. You should test and show us your feelings. Happy new year Jermaine !
Remember that you do this comparison based on what you prefer which is authentic. Vibrant will give it a summer and spring look also. Remember that Xiaomi has 2 defaults. It's only fair to give a proper comparison if you use both of them. I shoot in vibrant as my default.
@ThroughJermainesLens That may be true but vibrant gives you more detail and less shadow crashing. It's more colorful also. I think it's good to show people how they both look in each shots.
@@travisbloomfield303 I wouldn't call what xiaomi does in Authenthic is shadow crashing, it keeps shadows, it adds depth to the shot. Having used the Xiaomi 14 Ultra for the past three weeks, I feel its design leans toward a more artistic approach, particularly in photography. Personally, I appreciate the imperfections Xiaomi embraces in both photo and video capture. While Vivo's clarity is undeniably excellent in specific scenarios, I can't help but feel a sense of artificiality when reviewing its samples.
My buddy have the x200 pro & me 14U. When it comes to group photo, I prefer the X200 Pro where everyone's faces is evenly lighted & bright. With the 14U, you get the imperfection of shadows & partially lit faces across the group. This is a time when you don't want the photo to show the shadows especially when you want to post in social media. Having everyone faces evenly lighted & focused is a pleasing shot to the eyes. The 14U will have the slight blurish bokeh on faces in the background vs faces who is a little more forward & nearer to phone. But if you want to do a artistic shot of front vs rear faces, 14U does that with ease. X200 pro takes more tweaking to get close to the 14U but even then it messes up with evenly lit foreground & background. So in short you need to carry both phones for different scenarios ! 😆
vivo is always very stable in terms of nailing the shots. As for personal aesthetic preference, one can always do that after taken the photo. that's why vivo's unmatched ability to capture the moment with enough details in zoom and in low night is very important to me personally. for styles, a lot of APPs out there can do it for me. I just need to pick and choose a filter.
I mean 14 ultra meant to compete with x100 ultra, same as x15 ultra against x200 ultra soon... X200 pro is "on par" with Xiaomi 15 pro in terms of price starting
I'm a total Xiaomi fan and I find the 14 Ultra really interesting. I even wanted to buy it but I've read a lot about how the battery or rather the battery life is supposed to be very short. Can you say anything about the battery life? Is it really that short? I look forward to your feedback. Best regards Kroke ✌🏻
Love your comparisons Jermaine. I would say Vivo overall for consistency and battery life, and the beautiful LOG recording and Xiaomi for the absolute authenticity and intentionality like being able to manually adjust aperture and the camera grip. Can't wait to see what the 15 Ultra brings next year.
fully fair, In general shots where it doesn't have it;s weakness play up 100% agreed ^^ But I just wanted to make sure in this video I let people decide hahaha

Thank you very much for the sub! And france nice! I was there not too long ago, if camera is fixed planned to possibly drive that direction again ^^ And yeah hopefully I will be testing that out! :D
@ThroughJermainesLens Thanks for your quick response! It's true, it's interesting! However, I'm waiting for the release of the Xiaomi 15 ultra and your next test. I'm keeping my S10+ for a few more months because it's still a good phone. I'm watching for your next videos on a potential Xiaomi 🙂. Take care
@@ThroughJermainesLens Yes, I totally agree with you! It's a phone that I will keep because it still gives me satisfaction and because in low light, it is good. But a page must be turned and I would like to test Xiaomi.

Thank you!!! And hopefully soon! Weather is pooooorrrr so gives me a limit, and the place I wanted to go to has to wait because my car has an issue. This week I should recieve the parts and hopefully it is then fixed and then i can post the video ^^
Thanks for your time spent doing this amazing work. I wonder which is the best Xiaomi phone for photography in your opinion? tx and Happy New Year to all!
Have you done a video on the Vivo camera app at all? I know you've mentioned being able to reduce sharpening, is it a 'profile' you can manually adjust and 'set and forget' so that you have your own preferred profile (or style) to shoot with?
Overall... I still go for x200 Pro, it rarely misses a shot, specially the portrait. Great performance and battery life too. If I do want to be creative then I'll just use my Fuji camera.
Maybe i'm a little biased since my first phone that have camera is n95 which have carl zeiss optic, and then my first lens as well are zeiss sonnar. So i like the vivo most of the time here.
salaam brother, i am your huge fan ..your style of photography is so awesome and different than other youtubers love your videos keep it up and in this comparison the vivo is outstanding but there is feelings in some photo of Xiaomi
Happy new year J!! I looked at the subscription options but couldn't find one that says I'll be getting access to the Google Drive, could you clarify? Thanks!
Based on this, yeah, I'll take the Vivo any day over the Xiaomi precisely because of the consistency. The Xiaomi came up with the better shot now and then but I overall much preferred the output of the Vivo. As for the RAW, it might be related to the way Zeiss creates their RAW files. I remember having this "issue" where it looked like the DNG files were processed in their Nokia phones of old. Shame that the Vivo X200 Mini isn't a Mini at all. Or based on the camera I could consider it. Let's see if the Oppo X8 Mini will also be a BS "Mini" or not. Fingers crossed... And Happy New Year!
Same to you mate! for the consitency, yeah I think many will have that as good reason to move from it. I think Xiaomi still is the master of capturing "feel/mood" but if the battery runs out fast then you can lose out with shots. i am ok with taking another shot, not ok with doubting if I can make the trip with enough battery life left to take shots.
Thanks Jermaine... You really nailed the comparison without trying to sell one over the other... 👋👋👋 I totally agree with all your comments... And I did like many of the shots from the different phones... As in life always plus and minus. But I'm sticking in the Xiaomi camp at the moment, if you can only choose one... 😉 Good luck and health for 2025!
thank you man!!! And yeah my target is always to showcase, not to tell people what to like hahaha, glad you liked the video and of course same to you!!!!
And finally, when i buy the xiaomi 14 ultra ( flash offer for 800 bucks ) they launch VIVO X200 Pro in europe, at 1100€, thankfully i saved a lot and there's not like a huge difference, although i prefer vivo as a X80 Pro owner zeiss optics are just superb.
The fact that Vivo X200 pro is mainly compared to Ultra phones is already a huge success of this phone. All Pro phones do not stand a chance with Vivo. Only Oppo is close. Vivo has a brilliant SUPERRAW mode. I recommend checking it out! Less Ai in 8000x6000px!

@ralphsaliba8582 The 15 Ultra looks good but will be way more expensive. It will be €1000+ at launch, but I can get a 14 Ultra for €600 now. Also, yes it wil get the amazing HP9. But it also means that it will be limited to the 4.3x focal length. With the 14 Ultra, you're able to shoot at 6x in RAW. Can't do that with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra (because then it'd be a sensor crop).

I saw some posts on Twitter that if you set the Vivo to Landscape mode with "Atmosphere", that its colour science becomes closer to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Could you try this out? Because if this is true, then that would be a game changer for me haha (But it might be bullshit, of course. It's twitter after all)
Both are great when it comes to photography but i prefer the Xiaomi look with more contrast. HDR is too strong on Vivo for my taste leaving the photos flat in comparison (same as Pixel 9 series). Xiaomi is pretty much the only one left who keeps it more contrasty.
We also have to take into account that the "settings" are not always the same.. F.e. a F18 versus F1.8 will be a difference in focus depth. The sensorsize does not matter much if other components are not able to fully take advantage of it. The consistency does seem to be better with vivo. The Vivo has a sh1tty top-heavy weight of the camera and the shape I wish they would get rid of one day. It seems to me that all the flag cameras have something to bring to the table that for some reason can not be put into the same device. There's always going to be a downside and an upside which is grrrrrrr.... marketing.
I just love Xiaomi more no matter what I still prefer optical zoom over digital zoom I would like to have something like a Huawei P40 pro plus over the vivo 🙂💔
Vileicht schafft es ja das vivo ultra diesen Magischem Moment vom Xiaomi14 ultra nahe zu kommen dann würde ich von xiaomi vileicht zu vivo wechseln ansonsten niemals ❤
I hope Xiaomi really greatly improves the highlight control and backlight contrast for both day and night shots, all lenses. The contrast needs to be much tighter when there are bright lights or backlights. I thought the Vivo was better because of the Zeiss coating, but Pixel9P also does near perfect highlight control, so I think there is lot of room for software improvement. Also sharpness on the 5x needs to be increased, it looks too soft most of the time.
problem is when you do that you get closer to looking artificial, it can really come at the cost of "feel" in the shot. I rather have flaws that retain the feel of the shot then a perfect shot that because of it loses that feeling. Like pixel, realllyyy solid, but I never seen a picture where I am like: this shot I feel the scene! It's trying to be too perfect.
2:46 small editing error! Sorry^^ Was planning to remove that shot because it's 85mm on the vivo and 75mm on the Xiaomi. Sorry^^
The contrast looks really high in that shot. Very impressive from both phones ^^
As you said, the difference is that on Vivo you can make small adjustments on the go and get the shot you really want
Plus it's more consistent in general
Well you can customise your profile in Xiaomi in pro mode and leave all in auto
You can't go wrong with either of them 👌🏻

I just need to pick and choose a filter.
if 14 ultra is this good comparing to vivo x200 pro,,
am excited about xiaomi 15 ultra,, wih much more spec
I mean 14 ultra meant to compete with x100 ultra, same as x15 ultra against x200 ultra soon... X200 pro is "on par" with Xiaomi 15 pro in terms of price starting
Both fantastic phones. Lets wait for the Xiaomi 15 ultra and the Vivo x200 ultra. Happy New Year 😊
Thanks for the comparison. The sound of your video is low, not sure why.
From Oneplus 11 I am now waiting for 15 Ultra, hope it really worths every penny and the camera gets better than X200 pro
Love your comparisons Jermaine. I would say Vivo overall for consistency and battery life, and the beautiful LOG recording and Xiaomi for the absolute authenticity and intentionality like being able to manually adjust aperture and the camera grip. Can't wait to see what the 15 Ultra brings next year.
thank you man! And yeah very curious as well!!
which xiaomi phone will be better deal to buy today around 550-600$?. i want great quality camera and enough perfomance in daily basis
In some region,You can get Xiaomi 14 in that price segment.Although,if u can wait a bit, xiaomi 15 will launch in this month or next month.
The 14Ultra for Me😊
fully fair, In general shots where it doesn't have it;s weakness play up 100% agreed ^^ But I just wanted to make sure in this video I let people decide hahaha
@@ThroughJermainesLens Well I have decided after watching the video 🙂
which one takes more realistic pictures?
Nice job as always 😍
I can't pick one, to me ultrawide 14 U and priscope x200 P, for main lens it depends, and front camera x14 U
Thank you^^
Hello from France! Thank you for your video. Vivo is very good but I choose the Xiaomi.
Maybe I should wait for the xiaomi 15 ultra...? Do you intend to acquire it for a test?
I watched your videos and +1 subscriber! Have a nice day
Thank you very much for the sub!
Take care
@tomahah5933 S10+ man I loved that device
@@ThroughJermainesLens Yes, I totally agree with you!
It's a phone that I will keep because it still gives me satisfaction and because in low light, it is good.
But a page must be turned and I would like to test Xiaomi.
Vivo for me
Hi Jermaine, i really love your review/comparison videos !
Its so clear, fun and interesting to watch me…
May I know when will you review oppo find x8 pro?
Next time can you use Leica vibrant also. It gets more detail than authentic and is closer to the Vivo.
Maybe i'm a little biased since my first phone that have camera is n95 which have carl zeiss optic, and then my first lens as well are zeiss sonnar. So i like the vivo most of the time here.
This was a hard one to really pick it switching to the ones i like most till you started about the battery live then i was like oke thats my pick haha
hahahaha yeah for you vivo would be miles better xD
salaam brother, i am your huge fan ..your style of photography is so awesome and different than other youtubers love your videos keep it up and in this comparison the vivo is outstanding but there is feelings in some photo of Xiaomi
Thank you sooooo much!!!! Appriciate it!
Happy new year J!! I looked at the subscription options but couldn't find one that says I'll be getting access to the Google Drive, could you clarify? Thanks!
@@bprabawabroh all will, will be uploading today of all goes ok, been busy 😅 of course files only for personal use^^
@ThroughJermainesLens all will? That's a great news for someone from SE Asia like me haha 😂
Thanks for this very neutral and complete comparaison.
No problem! 😁🤜
But which do you really prefer?
Would you compare x100 u and x200 p?
Yes;)
Thanks Jermaine...
You really nailed the comparison without trying to sell one over the other... 👋👋👋
I totally agree with all your comments...
And I did like many of the shots from the different phones...
As in life always plus and minus.
But I'm sticking in the Xiaomi camp at the moment, if you can only choose one... 😉
Good luck and health for 2025!
thank you man!!!
Both are amazing devices, it's really just about personal preference of the user at this point❤
agreed ;)
14 ultra has that slr vibe❤ very2 nice
The fact that Vivo X200 pro is mainly compared to Ultra phones is already a huge success of this phone. All Pro phones do not stand a chance with Vivo. Only Oppo is close. Vivo has a brilliant SUPERRAW mode. I recommend checking it out! Less Ai in 8000x6000px!
I would like if vivo gets the one inch camera witu variabke aperture like in xiomi and a video stabikization and auto exposure from iphone.then it is perfect.imean perfect for me than a big long lens camera
Pls refer a mobile with main concern is camera, because am a photoenthusiast, from some models like, xiaomi 14 ultra, S24 ultra, X200 pro, and sony Experia 1 mark 6..pls refer... Now am using xiaomi 13 pro, which i bought after watching your video... 😍
They both great but also Vivo x200 pro camera is a bit artificial while Xiaomi 14 ultra it has that aesthetic feeling Wich is what I prefer.
Very honest as always Jermaine, thank you. Im expecting vivo 200 ultra , to think of spending that quantity of money on a phone 😹... 🙉
Thank you!!! And yeah same, very curious!!
Hi! I like Xiaomi 14 ultra more because it is quite natural, more true and somehow with deeper camera capture! Vivo is too artificial and too AI stuff for me! I like my xiaomi 14 ultra and at the same time I am waiting for 15 ultra! Thank you and your in-depth videos and I value your time that you dedicate to cameras and photography! Happy New Year! ❄️☘️🌼
@@KriTaKriTaKriTa thank you!!! For me I kinda hope they don't do it because it could lead to them going to far with authentic as well and losing the feeling in all shots at a cost. And happy new year to you as well
A camera is as good to someone who uses it. You can give the best camera to a person but if he can not use it properly it's nothing.
BRO HAPPY NEW YEAR 😊❤️🇧🇩
Thank you!!! same to you of course!!!
Leica vibrant fixes the white balance. Give it a try Jeremy.
I'm more tempted to get the Xiaomi as it seems more suited for photographers, but I also really like the Vivo. That telescope is incredible.
Then wait for the 15 ultra gonna pack the same telephoto vivo is using
Vivo is using the 85mm isocell hp9
Xiaomi 15 ultra will pack a 100mm isocell hp- 200mp
@ralphsaliba8582
The 15 Ultra looks good but will be way more expensive. It will be €1000+ at launch, but I can get a 14 Ultra for €600 now.
Also, yes it wil get the amazing HP9. But it also means that it will be limited to the 4.3x focal length.
With the 14 Ultra, you're able to shoot at 6x in RAW. Can't do that with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra (because then it'd be a sensor crop).
yeah wait for the 15 Ultra honestly, seeing the battery increase for instance alone will matter a lot!
I prefer the 14 ultra because i have it. But booth phones do a great Job. And jermaine i have the Update too hyper OS 2.0 with Android 15. I think you will get it soon
yeah just got it too hahahahaha
@ThroughJermainesLens Have you noticed any improvement in the camera of the xioami 14 ultra after the update?
@@dominikgeissler6102 I haven't used it anywhere enough to give a judgement for that sorry
What android skin is vivo running?
Global - Funtouch 15
China - OriginOs 5
@Asura0089 thanks man, wish they tell this in the vid
Xiaomi camera is not too smart for me. Moving subjects really suffer and shadows are dull and really dark.
This is gonna be a good watch.
What about xiaomi 14?
Vivo🔥🔥🔥
Thank you again for your great videos! I enjoy the comparison you make between flagship phones. I will probably wait for the release of the Xiaomi 15 series before making my upgrade decision.
thank you
My preference is simply when you provide us with quality content like that
Afterwards I will have to say, which of the two has reliable updates and also the best photo interface
And there it gives more advantage to one
But what is certain is that byby Samsung (laughs)
I think xiaomi 15 ultra have to bring significant improvement and more features because the standar vivo put in vivo x200 series is very high tho
Watching on my x200 pro😍
15 ultra ☠️
I saw some posts on Twitter that if you set the Vivo to Landscape mode with "Atmosphere", that its colour science becomes closer to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
Could you try this out? Because if this is true, then that would be a game changer for me haha
(But it might be bullshit, of course. It's twitter after all)
I used that on my video where I was in france ^^ ua-cam.com/video/wwtkn7oaxos/v-deo.html
On some reviews, it has been noted that, in landscape mode, the Vivos details are very soft around the edges.
Vivo v3 chip is very versatile..
Both are great when it comes to photography but i prefer the Xiaomi look with more contrast. HDR is too strong on Vivo for my taste leaving the photos flat in comparison (same as Pixel 9 series). Xiaomi is pretty much the only one left who keeps it more contrasty.
Well said :)
I like this video
Thank you!
There's always going to be a downside and an upside which is grrrrrrr.... marketing.
I just love Xiaomi more no matter what I still prefer optical zoom over digital zoom
I would like to have something like a Huawei P40 pro plus over the vivo 🙂💔
Owned x200 pro but I really like leica authentic
The best phone 2024 Xiaomi 14 ultra & Vivo x200 pro
Thanks.
No worries!
If you manage to get your hands on Oppo x7 ultra and compare them with these two, think you'd be surprise how good Oppo actually is.
I had it, but sadly for a very short time.
Vileicht schafft es ja das vivo ultra diesen Magischem Moment vom Xiaomi14 ultra nahe zu kommen dann würde ich von xiaomi vileicht zu vivo wechseln ansonsten niemals ❤
Nothing beats a larger sensor. Xiaomi is much more natural IMO... Vivo looks just like another smartphone shot.
M using 200 pro..and it's mind boggling 😅
Not even a comparison for me. Colors, Details, macro, zoom, dynamic range, Vivo is better overall. Falls behind only at ultra wide.
@@deepak1987 I think that the HDR already looks perfect on the Xiaomi! Looks very Fujifilm like.
more hdr more fake ,, no please
After Pixel8 won't buy again, contrast sharpness dynamic range always up to 11. The app is made to always let Google's AI decide.
Hope Xiaomi doesnt go the vivo route and make the photos shapers and more phone like in the 15 ultra. Xiaomi 14 has a feel to it.
I like the moods of the Vivo. But....
Best îs Honor magic 7 pro and Oppo find x8pro
