I like the lens flares at higher f stops, gives the images some extra character and they look like diffraction spikes from the James Webb Space Telescope.
Excellent video and amazing photos, as always! (even if you couldn't get your perfect shot). Although I'm a bit disappointed about that ultrawide lens. Maybe they'll update later? something like the z60 ultra, then they launched the z60 ultra leading version. Also, I'm hoping they release a z70s pro and see how that goes, I'm curious about it. Maybe with a less expensive processor they can get a better balance between all camera lenses. Great video!
Thank you very much!!! Highly appriaciate it!! And yeah the Ultra wide choice I don't get for this phone. Sure I don't use it that much, but why not have the better one? I feel like it is much nicer on the Z60 Ultra's! And yeah maybe they will create a leading version. Could be good? Because it needs it for me, I loved the Ultra wide on the Z60 Ultra's!

Hi, I've watched quite a few of your videos and I'd like to say I really like your camera review style. I have a request, could you do a video comparing the Xiaomi 14t (base model) and the Xiaomi 14. I'd would like to know how different the quality of the cameras is on both phones, and I would like to know your thoughts and opinions on the 14t's camera. I've seen quite a few photography youtubers reviewing the Xiaomi 14t pro, but I haven't found any who've done a photographer's review on the normal 14t. I just found out that this phone now has telemacro support. It'd be interesting to see a telemacro shootout between this, Sony Xperia 1 VI, Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, and Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
thnx for the review. please see if mcpro24fps or gcam helps in shots. i've seen from a channel that 13mm are more detailed than 18mm which is weird for nubia to demand 3 tap to use it. also 70mm & 350mm which latter use AI to sharpen/enhance, has more detailed vs 85mm or 140mm which is again coming along the same weird move from nubia to ask for by 3 taps on telephoto.
i mean the 18mm will be cropped so could look like more detailed I guess? Unless you zoom in then it should create the same effect of course. But yes it's odd how it is this way with the vocal lengths that are basically a crop for the ultra wide and zoom. Gcam I don't really use.
@@ThroughJermainesLens gcam maybe better in hdr or light exposure for dark & bright spot. hopefully photographer edition will have the same wide sensor of z60u lv plus return of OIS on that sensor.
Hi, I have a question. Which phone has a better camera, the OnePlus 13 or the Nubia Z70 Ultra? I'm talking about taking photos as an amateur, without changing any settings, etc. I heard that Nubia has laser autofocus - does that make it easier to take pictures of moving object like animal or children? @ThroughJermainesLens We spoke about it before, and as always, it's still the inconsistencies regarding the skin tones. Although on my unit, picking the average option for metering settings have helped immensely. And since the last update(before HyperOS 2) I immediately chose the 35mm options as the default, because of how much I appreciated it when you first reviewed the Z60 Ultra. I tried to change it back to the default 23mm, but yuck, 35mm is much better. I don't care much about the UW, software on the 14 Ultra has gotten better, but it's miles behind what I wad used to on Samsung's One UI. If just Xiaomi gave us the same software as China, it delivers much more features, way more, and in some region, they don't force them to use Google apps, especially the dialer and messages app. Enough with my rant, and I'm guessing based on your initial reply, I'm better sticking to my Ultra maybe until the 15 Ultra is released. See why you shouldn't pardon me for my long comments? lol
Here in México z60 leading version is aroubd 500dl or less inthink is bettee value than de 700dl z70 with a batter UW and zoom( not telemacro) but 35mm is good for macros anyway
@@Red-ding-Ton then I would say the Z70 Ultra, their software support isn't very long, and the variable aperture is a nice addition if you want to use pro mode more :)
Shane about the sharpening. Seems like only Vivo is keeping it at a decently subdued level nowadays. But such an interesting focal length for a phone. I wonder if Vivo will have to downsize their main to get one on there or if they will have a secondary main at 35 in conjuction with a 1" main.
Excellent review Jermaine ! By the way, as a photographer, how well do you think this phone is compared to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra ? Are there any plans of doing a comparison video between the two ?
Thank you very much! Now for comparing to the 14 Ultra I think it loses out to it because of the UW being not great, and I think at the moment it oversharpens for me. Now that of course is a personal preference, but it makes the shots look more natural and more pleasing for me.
some of the shots look great but some not good at all which i presume were wide shots with the downgraded sensor, the zoom shots looked not great either to me, its a shame

I dont see great differences with the Nubia z60 ultra leading version. Plus, is it true that they have downgraded the ultra wide camera by removing the OIS on the ultrawide camera? 😊
@ThroughJermainesLens for me as Nubia z60 ultra leading version user, I don't see any point in upgrading. I mean I really love my phone. And you helped me buy it with your extensive videos. Lets hope that in three years from now, Nubia will be bringing the same quality in their devices and you will be making the same great videos... 😉
if you have the Z60 Ultra then no. And if you like Ultra wide then no as well. But I hardly ever have any phone where I would recommend a year to year upgrade for.
Can you review and bring awareness to camcorder and see your opinion of them compare to smartphone, models to take a look is VX1, VXF1 and WXF1 with the latter model with most features within the range, night vision, manual control, viewfinder and twin camera!
Camera wise the main sensor I naturally like better on the Z70 Ultra, Battery life seems like in impovement, so if you use mainly the main sensor this, if you use the Ultra wide more, go for the Z60 Ultra/Leading

Thanks for the video, saved me from buying the z70 ultra - I will stick to Vivo ultra series for now, and wait. A little disappointed with Nubia quality again.
Put the price in the thumbnail of the video so when I click the video or before I click the video to watch at least I know the price tag in advance as I'm watching the video
This phone is a downgrade on the rear cameras for the z60 ultra/z 60 ultra leading edition. Basically the main camera is the same and the telephoto is the same sensor but with a larger aperture. The ultrawide however has gone from an 18mm f1. 8 1/1.55" OV50E with OIS to a 1/2.88" OV50D. Basically they've gone from having the highest quality ultrawide on absolutely any current phone to having one of the weakest ultrawides on a flagship. Personally think the 18mm ultrawide was a nice focal length too to balance the gap from the 35mm main. It was also brilliant for Video as Nubia had meant that to be the main camera for video when they launched it which is why they added OIS on it. Basically it was as good as the main camera on many upper mid range or budget flagship phones. However the z70 ultra still has a good main sensor and decent periscope. It's just than the previous flagship was better for rear cameras overall I think. I have to commend Nubia though on their European pricing. It's basically the same price in Europe as in China when you account for VAT at around an average of 20%. This pricing in Europe is amazing compared to all the other Chinese brands. €749/£649 is hard tó believe considering what All the other Chinese brands charge. This phone is the same price for example as the Xiaomi 15 and Oneplus 13 in China and more expensive than the find x8 and quite a lot more expensive than the Realme gt7 pro yet it is much cheaper than all of them are or will be in Europe. Xiaomi 14 launched for €1,000 last year for example and this year it's likely the Xiaomi 15 will be at least that as the price has risen slightly in China. Oneplus 13 will probably be a similar price to the Xiaomi 15 also in Europe. Nubia is undercutting the competition by a huge margin which is commendable so for the price the cameras are good
I think Z60 ultra is a better phone than this for far superior UW sensor and also longer tele reach. If one is interested in the main camera only there is the cheaper Z60s pro with the same main sensor ( and with a normal front camera for those that care )
Do not know about the x200 for vs oneplus it depends what you are looking for. The 35mm equivalent is a huge deal for me, it's reallllllyyy nice, just needs work on sharpening
These Nubia are a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT for me. Why? I expected that they could influence this market more, could make more phones have 35mm main cameras, instead of the current 24mn standard. Didn't happened, sad.
Imma be honest , It has horrible phone look. If you really want the video to shine. shoot raw video or log on it.. Not on stock app but you will need external app.
As soon as I saw the front camera, I turned off the video. We are almost in 2025, this front camera is unacceptable and directly motivated me not to buy the phone. It's unfathomable how nubia can't think of this.
for me these shots are almost obviously bad. they are foggy, lack details and contrast. and bocke is just not good enought to be here. it is so much worse than from so-called 1" sensors (and 1" is just ok, compared to full-scale cameras. not really good. just different). and mainly what mobile camera is good about is video, many watchers prefer a wide field of focus in video, so small sensors are not so bad in youtube video scenarios (if there is enough light). but i guess this sensor is just too much midrange. better to have bigger sensor with bigger pixels. for some reason 1 µm pixels are not good for focusing. they work pretty much the same as 0,8 µm pixels. and pixels 1,2 µm and larger really show up with binning.
I mean the UW they did 100% true, the rest no? the f stop on the periscope is better, even though I do think 85MM would have been better, and variable aperture is nice as well on the main sensor.
I know this concept needs improvement, so let me know your feedback!

either the 4k 60 footage is juddery at the start or its this youtube video as its not really smooth
Is the main sensor 1 inch or less?
1/1.56" for the main sensor:)
@ThroughJermainesLens thanks for the info bro, honestly I ain't touching no phone with a sensor less big than 1inch, the 1 inch sensor is a different level
I know that Nubia is a sub brand of ZTE, but I have a question, What happened to ZTE Axon Series?
I haven't seen ZTE releasing their flagships, only been seeing Nubia releasing flagships. Are Z Series Replacing Axon Series or they have nothing to do with each other? Btw, Great video as usual.
Those pictures you took are incredible 🔥
If I am not mistaken ZTE also has been banned by the US
That's irrelevant @@RamlyJer
Good question, feel like i haven't heard of those for a bit! Will see if i can find some info on it!
And thank you! Very much appreciated!!!
They had Axon 20, then Axon 30, then Axon 40 and then that's when I started finding out about the nubia brand starting from Z50 series. @@ThroughJermainesLens
Is it worth getting this or should we just get the Z60 Ultra? That UW camera is a disappointing downgrade 😕
You're making me want this phone. Stop it lol
I like the new format mate. Some tweaks and it should be even better. Thanks.
Hahahahaha sorry 🤣 and thank you mate!
Use motioncam on it to get pure video without sharpening
Great information 😊 good person nice phone.
Thank you!
I dont see great differences with the Nubia z60 ultra leading version. Plus, is it true that they have downgraded the ultra wide camera by removing the OIS on the ultrawide camera? 😊
Yeah the ultra wide is a downgrade, has the sd elite (expensive), so maybe that is why, but it's a shame
@Priest1908 oh it's not worth as an upgrade agreed 👍 but that i hardly ever say, it needs CRAZY update to warrant an upgrade
ThroughJermainesLensquestiodoone question. How dqualitiesft between qualities while cantting aitideo? I cant find it.
Is an Upgrade from the z60 Ultra to the z70 ultra worthy ?
if you have the Z60 Ultra then no. And if you like Ultra wide then no as well. But I hardly ever have any phone where I would recommend a year to year upgrade for.
Nice name btw! But i might be biased a bit there hahaha
@@ThroughJermainesLens Yeah , i like your Name too😂😂

@@TheRetroLime Oh no, we have some green stuff going on here xD
Ultrawide in z60 ultra had ov50e sensor, z70 ultra has ov50d in ultrawide.
Can you review and bring awareness to camcorder and see your opinion of them compare to smartphone, models to take a look is VX1, VXF1 and WXF1 with the latter model with most features within the range, night vision, manual control, viewfinder and twin camera!
In your honest opinion, nubia z60 ultra leading version or this one ? Z70 ultra , camera specs etc
Camera wise the main sensor I naturally like better on the Z70 Ultra, Battery life seems like in impovement, so if you use mainly the main sensor this, if you use the Ultra wide more, go for the Z60 Ultra/Leading
@ThroughJermainesLens and about the sound quality ? Z70 ultra better ? Thanks 😊
Finally ❤
:D
One more thing, the Z70U has a variable aperture, maybe you can show it in your next video
I did^^ not on the mode, vut showed the function^^ or in what way do you mean it?

Thank you very much!!! And very happy to hear I have inspired you!!! Truly appriciate that and glad to hear you're enjoying doing it! :D
Z60 ultra leading version is better. They just downgraded the camera unnecessarily. The z60 gives the most balance between performance and camera
The phones design is making me so confused, i don't know if i absolutely love it or jusr hate it
whuahahahahahahaha, that's I think what most people have with it hahahaha
I was a little bit upset that they downgraded the ultra wide. Yes it is probably because the 8 Elite chip price is higher than 8gen3.
Yeah same
Thanks for the video, saved me from buying the z70 ultra - I will stick to Vivo ultra series for now, and wait. A little disappointed with Nubia quality again.
Put the price in the thumbnail of the video so when I click the video or before I click the video to watch at least I know the price tag in advance as I'm watching the video

No matter what camera is on a phone, it can't stand before the proper camera. It's useful, though, for non-professional photography.
Oh hell no! It's not even close. No phone is
How many years of software updates for Z70 Ultra?
according to nubia up to 3 years
Really like the Daylight shots and the video is also good.
Front facing camera is Shit as Expected!

Its crazy how they always had the best ultra wide but this year its such a let down :/
Yeah this one I simply don't get
This phone is a downgrade on the rear cameras for the z60 ultra/z 60 ultra leading edition. Nubia is undercutting the competition by a huge margin which is commendable so for the price the cameras are good
100% agreed!!! Nothing i could really add here!!
@@ThroughJermainesLensThanks. Interesting video!
I think Z60 ultra is a better phone than this for far superior UW sensor and also longer tele reach. If one is interested in the main camera only there is the cheaper Z60s pro with the same main sensor ( and with a normal front camera for those that care )
to be fair to the periscope, that has now a larger aperture, so that can be good help in low light situations for instance. The UW 100% agreed.
@@ThroughJermainesLens Do you plan to do a review of the Pixel 9 series ? I think you reviewed the 7a which had a smaller and older sensor.

It could be better in camera hardware, for me it's not one of the best ZTE. In cameras it's still far from being better
pare che il video registrato con lo z70 vada a scatti.
Remove the watermark.. Not good
Is it better than Vivo x200 & OnePlus 13 ?
Do not know about the x200 for vs oneplus it depends what you are looking for. The 35mm equivalent is a huge deal for me, it's reallllllyyy nice, just needs work on sharpening
These Nubia are a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT for me.
Why? I expected that they could influence this market more, could make more phones have 35mm main cameras, instead of the current 24mn standard. Didn't happened, sad.
Well it's rumoured that the x200 ultra will have. 35mm main, and for me that would be Huge! In a good way!
@@ufukozemir well are you surprised about that? It's under the display 🤣
@@ThroughJermainesLens I didn't know this. I wish it was above the screen. Because it really provides a bad experience this way.
@ufukozemir mmm yeah this phone is targeted a bit different ^^ but i can understand that:) for me I don't use it all that often, so it's fine for me^^
Fromt camera is from old nokia
Hahahaha well it's under the display:)
the thumbnail looks like a nokia lumia
Wait it does a bit 🤣
for me these shots are almost obviously bad. they are foggy, lack details and contrast. and bocke is just not good enought to be here. it is so much worse than from so-called 1" sensors (and 1" is just ok, compared to full-scale cameras. not really good. just different). and mainly what mobile camera is good about is video, many watchers prefer a wide field of focus in video, so small sensors are not so bad in youtube video scenarios (if there is enough light). but i guess this sensor is just too much midrange. better to have bigger sensor with bigger pixels. for some reason 1 µm pixels are not good for focusing. they work pretty much the same as 0,8 µm pixels. and pixels 1,2 µm and larger really show up with binning.
Z60 ultra leading version is better. They just downgraded the camera unnecessarily. The z60 gives the most balance between performance and camera
I mean the UW they did 100% true, the rest no? the f stop on the periscope is better, even though I do think 85MM would have been better, and variable aperture is nice as well on the main sensor.
@ThroughJermainesLens yeah they're nice but for the price of both right now z60 is the better option
