Actually this 86-87 was only his 2nd true NBA season. The year prior, he only played the last 16 games with severe minutes restriction due to breaking his ankle at the beginning of that season.
In this 86-87 season, Jordan had 37 games where he scored 40 or more. Basically as a sophomore in the NBA. No one will ever touch that, as well as the hundreds of other MJ records.
