@@donkingdom611 Jordan didn't have any kind of supporting cast back then. And the idea that he was a ball hog is one of the biggest misconceptions of all time. Jordan facilitated from the 2 spot more than any other 2 guard in the league. When Doug Collins put him at PG over the last 24 games of '88-89, he averaged 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 10.7 assists, he logged 7 straight triple-doubles and 10 out of 11 games. The one he didn't get a triple double he scored 40 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. It's not the 2-guard's job to be a ball distributor, especially when giving your team the best chance to score the rock requires shooting it yourself. If he had spent his career playing PG, he'd still have been the GOAT.

Pippen is the most underrated player to ever play in the NBA, why? Because when they talk championships every year we always hear Michael has 6, Kobe has 5, Shaq has 4, Duncan has 5, James has 3, Curry has 3(& counting), yet out of all those we never ever hear Scotties name mentioned along with Michael's as if he did it all by himself(which he didn't). I was there and watched Jordan get knocked out of the playoffs year after year(By Bird in '86-'87, then the Bad Boys Pistons from '88-'90)until after Pippen arrived('87-'88)then 3 years later('91)they where winning it every year! At least Bird gets his props when Magic Johnson paid him the greatest complement when he said, "If there was no Larry Bird, then there wouldn't be no Magic Johnson!" Scottie on the other hand never gets his props which he should always get when Jordan is talking who's the G.O.A.T, he should be mentioning Pippen's name as the reason Jordan is even in the conversation when the G.O.A.T. topic ever comes up. Shaq does it with Kobe, & Kobe does it with Shaq, Duncan does it with the David Robinson, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker as they all do with him when mentioning their championships they always mention each other as well as their respective coaches. It's time Michael did the same because he would never have 6 rings if it wasn't for a fat man(Jerry Krause)who actually put that dynasty team together(traded away fan favorite & one of Michael's favorite players Charles Oakley so they could have the draft rights to Scottie Pippen & Horace Grant in the '87 draft) and gave a B-league basketball coach his first shot at coaching(Phil Jackson) who would not only go on to win 6 rings in Chicago, but repeat that same feat in L.A. with 5 more rings having Shaq & Kobe in Phil's second act of The Zen Master Strikes Again, only this time using his mojo on Shaq & Kobe~all the way to the promise land!!!

Jordan's athleticism was just better than everyone's. Birds wisdom is just better than anyone's. And had the better over all game. Larry Legend founder 50/40/90 club, twice. 3 straight MVPs. Joined Wilt and Russell only other players to do that. In that ERA. Is completely insane. Bird beat every superstar player(s) of his era. That's even more insane.

Bird's haircut was in 1987. There was a statue carved of Bird for the Boston Sports Museum, and it was unveiled in February, 1988. The sculptor mentioned having to give wooden Larry a "haircut" in the middle of carving it. So unless it took more than a year to carve, the haircut was in 1987.

The bulls of this year were a terrible half court team if MJ wasn't able to score. I think they were the 4th worst offense in the league that year. You simply cant run offense if you can't make the d step out to guard anyone. Just look at all the times he drives and there are 3 bulls in the paint. What kind of shit is that? For the younguns:
    1. This is a pretty good illustration of why the Jordan Bulls never beat the Bird Celtics in a playoff game. The Celtics were a complete team with a ton of weapons. By the time Pippen and Grant had become stars in Chicago, the Celtics' run was already on its last legs because of age and injury (and the death of 2 players).
    2. The Washington Bullets, mentioned early, became the Washington Wizards about a decade after this game.
    3. The Chicago coach is Doug Collins, who would later coach Jordan as a Wizard, 3 years after Jordan had retired from the Bulls.
    4. This was one of Bird's 50-40-90 seasons, which is showcased by how many free throws he nails effortlessly.
    5. At one point Jordan is guarded by Rick Carlisle, later the longtime coach of the Mavericks.
    6. Charles Oakley found his most success as a Knick in the 90's, and he was later regarded as one of the Knicks' most visible fans for years.
    7. Zone defense during this era was considered "illegal" and resulted in a technical foul shot. There was no "defensive 3 seconds" rule at this time, though.
    8. People often remarked at the time (and later, from clips), how White the Boston crowd was in the 80's, as a proxy for Boston's racist history. This Chicago crowd looks....very White as well.

They only played 2 best of 5 series so when we use the word EVER it sounds like something that goes on and on. Firsst of all with a starting lineup of Dave Corzine, Charles Oakley, Sedale Threat and John Paxon with Gene Banks the 6th man to go with MJ to play against one of the best Dynasties ever is as big a mismatch that you wil ever get.Second MJ average about 39 combined and destroyed Boston. The Bulls started rebuilding from the bottom and were only a couple years in. Remember when they drafted Pippen. He averaged 7 pts in his first and about 12 in his second. People thought he may have been a bust. The fact of the matter was as MJ's game matured you could have replaced pippen with a dozen guys and the Bulls would have still dominated and if Pippen were somewhere else nobody would know who he is.

Anytime you have a player that averages over 35 points a game is usually a sure sign of a team that is not going far in the playoffs(Kobe couldn't get it done with the Lakers in '05-'06 when he averaged 35.4, and Jordan couldn't get it done from '86-'90 when he averaged over 37 points to 33, it wasn't until Michael brought his scoring down to 31.5 points a game in '91 and starting trusting his other teammates(Pippen, Paxson, Bill Cartwright or otherwise known as alias~Medical Bill~as Jordan used to call him because he was always injured and thus@the medical facility) to pick up the scoring load was he able to finally when the big dance~! Why, because in the playoffs we all know that they play at a higher gear and defense rules the day(which they would use to key in on anyone scoring a lot of points with double teams, traps to get the ball out of their hands and into their teammates hands which is what the defense wants because when a player averages over 35 it usually means that they don't have anyone else on that team that can score). My final point is when a player averages over 30 it's more than likely they will not be as successful during the playoffs unless you have Stephen Curry on your team followed by teammates(Durant, Thompson, Green, A.I., Cousins)!!!

Young Jordan. He had no teammates. No Scottie pippen, no coach. Nothing. He was straight willing his team. Bird did his thing. But let's keep everything in context. The Celtics we're already established, Robert parrish, Larry, Kevin McHale, etc etc etc all hall famers IN THEIR PRIMES. So yes Jordan couldn't beat this team alone.

deadly steele first, chill lol. This and Jordan’s 63 are the only great games he had against the Celtics. They could both score on anyone, but mj had the better defense. Larry bird was a better shooter, passer, and rebounder. If he had stayed healthy he could’ve easily won more championships and mvps. If he had the same longevity Jordan did, I Jordan wouldn’t have 6 championships or mvps.
