- Drug possession is equivalent to a traffic ticket in Portland, Oregon. In an effort to curb open-air drug markets, police are issuing citations for those found using.

Let's write a bunch of tickets in full public view so they think we're doing something.
We'll have local news broadcast the story complete with video of cops writing tickets.
As soon as the cameras are turned off, we'll throw the tickets in the trash.

@@TheErik249 It's just part of their ponzi scheme like you said, to make it look like they are doing something, here in washington state, in my city it was proven they are sitting on millions of $ that is meant to go to the homeless, they pocket that money or sit on it, use that money for other things instead of cleaning up the streets and actually bringing back law and order.... instead the entire damn west coast is in this ponzi scheme to legalize drugs, now legalized all graffiti here in seattle even if they are gang tags, the entire plan is to turn these cities into crap holes to get their funding and build new cities when the old cities are destroyed enough, bottom line is, we are all being used and they want us to cause chaos with each other, and they are for sure protecting criminals because the criminals are the ones they use the most.

Yes! Finally a solution. Writing the zombies tickets will fix this, because if they don't pay the fine it will get turned over to a collection agency, and then go on their credit report. And one thing these zombies treasure, is their good credit rating.

Tickets? They aren't paying any tickets. You need to take down the dealers, and give heavy handed sentences. Pretty simple. I'd rather pay to lock these dirbags up than pay to clean up after these hopeless people.

Only punishment that works is one that threatens to stop their open drug use, which is prison or forced rehab. Either they'll stop or they'll become employed to rent a space and then continue to use drugs if they still desire to.
I planned a vacation to Portland and asked the travel agent for a general idea of what areas to avoid. He simply handed me a full map of Oregon and pointed to it.

Well, I can be 99% sure you've never been to Seattle, at least. I moved out of there in 2020 after living there all my life. Seattle people aren't going to "rise and take back" anything. They tend to be effete, elitist "educated" liberals who really believe government can solve everything if you just tweak it the right way. Just imagine an entire city who's only sources of information are CNN, MSNBC, and NPR.

you'd need to build dozens of new prisons and prisons arent cheap or fast to build. not to mention hiring all the new staff they require. And prisons tend to get a "Not In My Backyard" response from community members

If Portland really wanted to do something about the homeless they would. Fining a homeless zombie will do nothing. They do not abide by rules now, they sure as hell well not pay their tickets. Portland needs labor camps. Force them up in the woods out of site and make them clean the forests and provide them with housing. Until they can participate in society rationally.
That is what is going to happen. Put the ones that want to stay on drugs or use violence in a lockbox. The ones that accept help will receive mandatory treatment. There will be no running around starting fires, stealing, leaving piles of poo and trash, etc.

In all seriousness your idea was tried for decades and it didn’t do anything. There has never in the history of man been a drug free society, and rampant overdoses didn’t start until drugs were made illegal. Fentanyl is only common because it’s easier to smuggle than heroin, which is easier to smuggle than opium. If drugs were regulated like alcohol (which is also a hard drug), we wouldn’t be having triple digit overdoses.
It’s a National Security issue our leaders are ignoring. Narcan should NOT be used, ODs are the best way to rid ourselves of feral humans.
