  • Sometime I edit videos and think "how did it take me 25 minutes to do that?"
Anyway, opening the ring gap on the two oil rung scrapers that were a bit tight, then fitting the rings to the pistons and the pistons into the cylinders, with rambling. Not overly scintillating I'll admit.

If you wish to ask a question about this video, please start with specific info about what you're asking. Model and year at the very least. If you make me guess, I'll not bother.
I do Ducati only, so no point asking a Honda question.

This was enjoyable. Thank you for sharing.
What made you choose a 659 for yourself over a 696/796/1100/etc?

it was cheap - $500 - which is paling into insignificance given the amount of money i'm throwing at it now. i have little interest in bigger engines these days - i ride so badly i don't need to scare myself. realistically i get all the speed i need test riding customer bikes.

@@bradthebikeboy I'm with you; my 1100 is hard to explore and enjoy properly, the contemporary V4s are downright ludicrous.

Another great tutorial - thanks. Are those barrels bare metal or painted? They have a great finish whatever. Those gudgeon pin circlips can be a real pain. Have a look at this Mahle video, especially at 4:40 where they show a home-made insertion tool, which is easy to fabricate and works a treat. ua-cam.com/video/3kdhGBCpuxM/v-deo.html

they've been hydroblasted, which is sand blasting using water as the carrier instead of air. tends to give a smoother, shinier and more closed surface finish. allegedly resists aging better than air base media blasting.
