  • Replacing the gear shifter mechanism springs, then fitting and setting the gear shifter mechanism. For some reason, this took me longer than expected and was somewhat annoying. I'm not sure if the plate under the M6 and M8 screws that hold the mechanism in - which used to be simple washers before the "upgrade" was made - allows the mechanism to move somewhat unless they're tighter then just nipped. Don't know. I've not done many of them. Just seemed more frustrating than usual.

Im half way through doing this on 2007 1098. I swear the ducati tool is different, its a 90 degree tool with 2 pins.
Thanks for posting this video, I will measure how much play it has each way.

Thanks for this. I had one go on my 1100 Evo five years ago - so probably due for another about now! Not a bad job, but the bit I hate the most is removing all that Threebond from the crankcase surfaces! 🤬

yes, de-gooping the threebond does suck royally.

This one bit my arse six or so years ago after rebuilding my 1198 engine. Torqued that M8 bolt (bulletin spec 34-38nm) and the case gave way at about 30ish. Not a thread left in the block day before trackday 🤣
